We had a great Sunday roast at the George. Our order took a while to arrive, but staff were polite and friendly and we were very well looked after. The food was delicious. Highly recommend.

Service was not the best. Waited 15 minutes for the sauces to go with the Sunday dinner but they didn’t turn up. I went up to the bar to ask for them again and shortly after they turned up.

Sunday carvery was delicious! Only thing I would say is there should be a food replacement for Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes for a vegetarian but overall very lovely meal

Beautiful Sunday roast as always. Service with a smile, very tasty and plentiful. Can’t go wrong with eating out at The George. Highly recommend from the food which I can never finish to the staff who can’t do enough for you.

6 of us went for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. We asked to be given a bigger table at the back of the restaurant, and were moved quickly with no problems. The service and food were both very good.

I went for lunch with 3 of my friends in the George. The service was prompt and friendly. Our food was delicious and plentiful. My only concern would be the soft drinks were more than £3 each, a bit expensive I thought.

Well wot can I say bout the George been going here lots of times.. but yesterday was the worse…ordered our food waited over an hour for our roast dinners,yes very busy not enough staff for the amount of people… Some of roast dinners were only just warm enough to eat,not enough veg for 7 people..roast potatoes were burnt.. Then had to ask for table to be cleared,deserts came at a reasonable time….had to ask for the bill,they had taken two meals off as a apology… I will be thinking twice before going again..

Lovely, friendly helpful staff, great food! The new 'allergy' menu was really confusing! We had to ask the waitress to explain it. It wasn't clear what was GF (gluten free). At first glance my friend thought there was only 1 dish GF! They forgot to put steaks in that menu - they are GF. Other restaurants have a GF menu, which is much easier to read. 2 of us are GF intolerant. We suggest The George does that please.

A pleasurable discovery. We were looking for a Sunday lunch on the way back down the M4 from picking up my step granddaughter, and found The George on the Open Table website. The table was booked and was ready when we arrived. The service was excellent very attentive especially when we were waiting a little while for our food. We all had a very good beef Sunday lunch, hot, tasty and just fitted the bill. The desserts were delicious also. We have decided we will return. The only niggle was the lack of parking in the vicinity.

Unfortunately we were the last booking at 7.30 so ate in an empty restaurant, people who arrived afterwards were turned away because they wanted to close early. We had garlic bread to start and our steaks arrived before we'd eaten our starter. The steaks were overcooked, we did mention it to the waitress but didn't bother sending them back but didn't even get an appology. The cheesecake was a tiny portion not worth the money. Very disappointed this visit, always liked it in the past.

The food was lovely and excellent value. The singer was reaching all rooms so a tad he loud for those sitting in the one next door. A town centre , so not as ambient as some. Will return though as really enjoyed the food.n
