The George hotel is a beautiful 400 year old hotel, currently only used as a restaurant. Taken over in 2020, the restaurant is tastefully decorated, adourning wonderful photos of chepstow through the years. The menu boasts an array of fabulous dishes, from the traditional 'pub grub' with our 2 for £16 menu, to our in house dry aged Steaks, cooked to perfection by our chefs or brought out to you on our signature sizzling hot stones. On a Saturday evening, the restaurant comes alive with wonderful live music, starting off with a relaxed vibe whilst you finish off your meal, and a livelier second half to finish off your evening. Finish the week here on a sunday, where we have fast become the place to come for a sunday lunch, with rave reviews and recommendations across the board. With a vast drinks and food menu, the George is the ideal place to come, either for a relaxed lunch for two, an evening out with friends or a large family gathering.

We have eaten Sunday lunch regularly at The George and having been on holiday for 2 weeks were looking forward to our return today. Unfortunately the food was not as warm as it could have been and the gravy was thick. Although not up to the standard we have received in the past it was just edible so we finished our meal and made our comments to our waitress while paying the bill.

We go to The George most Sundays for our lunch, I had beef and my wife had salmon last time, as always the food, service and value is excellent, I can’t think of a better destination

The menu said "Crispy Roast Potatoes" but they were not even a little bit crispy and the same with the "Crispy Belly Pork" - not slightly crispy. Shame, otherwise a nice meal and good place for Sunday lunch.

New potatoes were roasted but weren't very nice, didn't taste fresh and they spoiled the meal. Wouldn't order them again. However the steaks were nice if a little overcooked, medium was well done and rare was medium. The onion rings were very good though.

The five of us went for lunch on a Thursday, we were very happy with the food and the service. I did think the prices of the soft drinks was a bit high

Great reception shown straight to our table …. We took our dog with us and she was also made to feel welcome with a bowl of water then sausages later on. We went on steak night and had the tomahawk steak to share, the taste was exquisite and very good value we would definitely go back

Amazing Sunday Lunch, really enjoyed it, plenty on the plate, choice of meats, fresh & hot, staff very friendly & helpful, great selection of drinks too, very quick service.
