Wonderful, accommodating service. Great food, lovely location. Fantastic wine selection, a few more draught lager/beer options would have been nice (only Yachtsman available when we visited). Thanks all.
Lovely oasis by the sea. Stunning location, good food and perfect service. A little slice of heaven on the Isle of Wight
Had a lovely lunch, great food, good wine list and warm service.
A lovely day enjoyed by all of us as a family.
Food was delicious especially the George Burgers and the Mussells, fabulous!
The ambiance was lovely overlooking the Solent and Wightlink ferry as it docked, the boats all coming in and out of Yarmouth harbour, something interesting to look at all day and fishing on the beach.
A lovely memorable experience for us all.
Beautiful place for outside lunch. Service was excellent
We love the garden here, it beautiful. The food is good too.
Excellent staff. A lovely experience
Great staff, perfect Covid protocols, music creates a lovely beach club ambience, food great.
Poor customer service, average food and hugely expensive. Lovely garden and views
Lovely courtyard and the food was tasty, BUT...
- getting served was really hard work and took 35 mins to even order a drink.
- they completely forgot our starters and ended up bringing them after the mains.
- the price on the menu we were given for our dish was nearly double the price of the exact same dish on the menu on their website. We didn't even look at the pricing on the printed menu as had looked online and everything seemed reasonable so didn't think to cross check. I realised what was on the bill on the way home and called as assumed a mistake had been made but was told the pricing was correct and the online menu was just a sample. Very unhappy as it was extremely expensive for what we got (£36 for a small piece of monkfish, with sauce but nothing else, no veg, rice or anything. Online menu price was £22!). Went home feeling mighty ripped off which totally spoilt the evening sadly.
We managed to be seated within the bar area and so benefited from being slightly protected from the chilly wind.
Food was delicious and overall good value.
It was a busy afternoon and there was a lively vibe.
Felt overall the service was good from our very pleasant main waitress.
Will definitely return- hopefully on a warmer day!
The service was slow and the veg was cold allowances have to be made due to outside service only and restrictions but if you pay top price you expect top service.
The main problem was a loud group of 5 on the next table who had too much alcohol. Their language was unacceptable.
Amazing food, direct access to the beach, kids friendly
It was our anniversary and the staff were friendly and made us feel it was a great experience.
We are eating outside of course and the George will always catch the wind, although they really have tried to counter this I think a slight rethink on the food being served in such conditions is needed.
The food was perfect, as usual, but stone cold within less than a minute due to the air temperature, not their fault but to be paying George prices to eat cold food doesn't quite fit. I am not suggesting I have the answers but it does mean we wouldn't eat there again outside.
Also on the service side, seeing the staff people literally shaking in the wind due to uniform isn't nice to see.
Finally It was my birthday and I was greeted with Happy Birthday when we arrived. I then watched other people receive a happy birthday acknowledgment but none for me.
Thank you and we will return but not in the current weather pattern whilst we must eat outside
So at £100 a head I think overall a rethink in the current conditions is needed.
It was freezing cold and raining so not easy for outdoor dinning. Service was excellent and food was great. Perhaps some more thought given to better wind and rain shelter.
A brilliant venue with wonderful staff. A perfect evening.
Great food, friendly staff and beautiful setting. We'll definitely be back.
Very good service and food was excellent. We ate here, outside on a chilly day, and it was quiet. We have eaten here on a sunny day and the atmosphere is very different when it is warm to sit outside. Highly recommended.
The view from the garden was fantastic but of course weather dependent. The main course we had was amazing. The oyster was really fresh.
A Brilliant atmosphere and great food and very attentive staff .
We had a wonderful meal at the George .Lovely food ambience and service
I had booked The George as a special surprise lunch for my husband's birthday, and was so excited to finally visit. I was so disappointed and upset that despite mentioning that it was to celebrate his birthday at the time of booking, there was no gesture or anything done to make it feel special. Our table was in the middle of the outdoor area, so getting the attention of staff was near impossible. We had to ask three times for our bill, when other tables who asked much later got it instantly, and it took far too long to get it. Really disappointing.
It was our first meal out in months after the lockdown, and a 60th birthday, so a big occasion. The food was excellent, cooked perfectly and with interesting flavours. I asked for a bottle of prosecco when we arrived. They didn't have any but did have a cremant from the Loire. Not sure what it was, but it was very drinkable. It was a lovely, sunny day, with no breeze off the sea, so we were able to enjoy the garden and sea views in warmth and comfort. Service was Island standard.
Very friendly service, top quality. This is the best restaurant in the isle . See you soon guys
Lovely setting just on the front but sheltered from the breeze in their conservatory. All aspects of the evening were COVID secure. Food was excellent (happy to oblige with my slightly unusual request!) and good drinks menu too.
Altogether a perfect evening - only wish we could return again soon!
We had a lovely evening sitting by the sea in the outside bar area. The view was fabulous, the food delicious and the service efficient and friendly - in all pretty perfect!
Perfect! Soon be back and will of course recommend
Great vibe but most importantly really great staff. Upbeat, positive and helpful.
Yes Please !!! Delightful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Unfortunately outside in April was chilly but the view was great and the meal was good. Service was good but a tiny bit slow as they got busier. Overall really nice evening but need to dress appropriately
Lovely meal. Service was a little slow. Very cold.
Food was excellent but the service was very slow. We asked for a table closest to the sea but it was not possible, even though several were available.
Good food with service a little slow to start, but once orders placed arrived promptly. Aix staff were knowledgeable and cheerful. My wife found her meal enjoyable apart from the table next door having a dog that needed to be more with them than us!
Epic burger huge moules great welcome & waiter
Gorgeous food, such a lovely setting. Dining highlight of our week. Just need cutlery to arrive before the food when eating outside - we had to ask for it at each course ☹️.
Everything was very good and the location is amazing... only problem is that my wife was sick afterwards, probably due to the mussels she ate there...
Service was slow, we seemed to get forgotton with our main and waited nearly an hour after the starters were cleared
Great location, fast bright and cheerful service, always a favourite with the WARTHOG crew - Jon Lisby
As always the food was delicious and the service impeccable. It didn’t matter at all that we had to eat on the terrace due to Covid restrictions. It was a joy to be back and able to celebrate our anniversary.
Wonderful first day back to eating out. The staff were exceptional. Thank you
