It was our anniversary, not our official anniversary, we’ve been married for 37 years but actually together for 40 years, we got together on the 13th of July 1985, the day of Live Aid and we wanted to celebrate it so The George seemed the perfect place as we’d eaten there before and we weren’t disappointed. The service as usual was amazing, very quickly settled in and drinks served, our food order was also quickly dealt with and arrived in good time. Everything about the meal was perfect and the staff even took some pictures for us. Highly recommend the George and hope to eat there again soon.

A lovely small hotel just off the A1. Beautifully decorated and the staff are very helpful. The dining area is very airy and light owing to the glass roof. Food was good and portions were very generous The risotto was a little under cooked but was replaced within 10 minutes with a freshly cooked portion which was perfect. A perfect place for a special occasion.

Very helpful and friendly service, it was very quiet and when we arrived none of the tables were laid up for eating which was not particularly inviting. Food was good - starters are large, mains a good size, flavours were good. Nothing that made me go WOW must go back but would eat there again if I was in the area if for no other reason than the staff!

Beautiful setting with great decor. A little out of place as had a very upmarket feel for such a small town! The service was very good. Cocktails were tasty. The menu had a good selection but the food was not as nice as we thought it would be - quite average - so a little overpriced for the standard.

A lovely experience overall. The food and service were both excellent, complemented by tasteful décor and a welcoming ambiance. Ample parking is available at the rear of the premises, making access easy and convenient. A particular highlight was the immaculate condition of the toilets – always a reassuring indicator of a well-managed establishment.

A tremendous first visit It won't be the last! Highly recommended! Really friendly and professional greeting. All staff friendly and interested in us with excellent customer service skills. Food was lovely Duck, Cod and Ribeye - Perfectly cooked and presented. Very good wine list to satisfy all tastes - Well chosen indeed How did we feel as we left? "What a tremendous meal and occasion in lovely surroundings!" Many, many thanks!
