The George Inn
We had a small issue with mouldy pitta on a starter but this was quickly resolved and the meal taken off the bill.
Food was excellent, best roast I had eaten out for a while, would strongly recommend.
The meal was excellent. We had a to wait for a while because there was an 18th Birthday party in another room which over flowed into the seating area. It was a little loud and we had to wait while the buffet was served to them before our hot food arrived. The food was fine when it arrived. I think we should have been pre warned that there was a party on before we booked.
Food was nice. Staff are friendly. Welcoming environment!
Family birthday celebration with five adults and three children. Despite being very busy service was extremely good and staff very friendly. Food was good and served hot and with a smile and for what we thought was a reasonable price. Certainly recommend on our experience. Lots of choice around Cambridge but we will certainly by happy to come back again. Being able to book through Opentable is also a big plus.
A very good Sunday roast was had by our party of four. Waitress was a bit too keen to take our order, but otherwise good service.
The pub dining area is a bit dark and gloomy which is a shame. We
Pleasant enough for an evening meal with the wife. Food of a good quality and plenty of choice. Attentive waitresses but not overly so. Would recommend.
the George accommodated our 6 year old who has a serious allergic reaction to peanuts. The food and staff were all first class with an excellent attention to detail
A local treasure found - service excellent, food outstanding, staff very efficient and friendly, huge bar and restaurant selection, landlord a gem :) Set in a beautiful village with ample parking. What more could you want!
The overall experience was good. Had eaten there before but this was first Sunday lunch. Good food well presented. Service hit and miss due to multiple waitress covering same tables. All staff appear to refer to all genders as ‘Guys’, which was not suitable for the cliental seen there. Good meal at a sensible price. Would go back again.
First time at the new Old Crowne. Impressed with decor; very interesting and different. We went on the spur of the moment for a Sunday Lunch, expecting to pay more than usual for what we hoped would be good quality food. Starters were very good (cucumber soup/pork terrine), and my roast beef was excellent (medium to rare cooked, and very big portion), but my wife's 'roast chicken' was poor (she hates hacking meat off bone, and this was not proper roast chicken, but two roasted chicken thighs! Not easy to extract meat from bone, and quite dry). We didn't complain, as it just spoils the whole meal to have confrontation. However, I feel it is very misleading to call this a Sunday Roast Chicken, which everyone expects to be sliced meat from a whole chicken. My wife's sorbets were very tasty even if rather solid ice to chip away at. All in all an OK experience.
The food and service was excellent. Will be going again soon.
We visited on fathers day.
We were welcomed and seated promptly.
Waitresses we very courteous and attentive. Food was delicious, we had 3 courses. Can highly recommend the 3 meat roast, very tasty and filling.
We were all very impressed with the standard of service and quality of the food served to us.
We will be returning for another great value for money meal.
The George Inn is a friendly pub which serves good food. The staff are welcoming and the service is efficient. It is also good if you want to sit outside in the sunshine as there is plenty of outdoor seating.
They were so friendly, accommodating and the food was delicious.
