The George Spaldwick
Yet again ! Wonderful food. Great service. Well done.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. We are definitely returning to try more dishes. The tomato flatbread starter was amazing, the Sunday Roast Beef and Chicken Kiev as mains were superb. Service was fantastic highly recommend the venue and the food - thank you The George'
The food is always excellent and the atmosphere is always great. Went for Sunday lunch this time and it was lovely. Never feel rushed to leave. Highly recommend
Nice staff, good food and nice atmosphere.would recommend to my friends and family.
We have recommended friends and come to The George frequently. This was the first time we have had
Sunday Lunch. One of our party did not enjoy the beef which was too fatty.
Would have been even better if the waitress could use the words “please & thank you” during service!
Portions were very generous. Food very tasty.
Great Sunday roast and tremendous value for money.
First time visit and very impressed - will be returning. Portions are large so you need to be hungry.
Food is good but portions are very large - hard to eat a starter and main
I am happy to recommend The George at Spaldwick as the food is excellent , generous portions and the staff are very friendly.
Really good service and polite attentive but not overbearing customer relations.
Certainly recommend to friends.
Birthday meal, cannot fault any part of the evening, food superb as previous visits.
Fabulous food and great service as always.
We arrived at 12.30 ordered our drinks and was shown to our table. Starters were ordered and did not have to wait too long before they arrived. Only complaint with my husbands salad with the chicken Gordon's was the Indian salad which comprised of jalepinos which made my husband go very red, tears streamed from his eyes and he couldn't drink enough to put the fire out in his mouth! Perhaps you should either omit these from the salad or warn people they are in it! Mains were delicious and we were too full for pud as portions were very generous we thought. Overall a lovely meal out which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
Sunday roast, it was exceptionally good value for money and the meat was of high quality as was the rest of the dish. Highly recommended. The pub itself is in a lovely location and very well presented
Excellent food - fantastic value for Sunday lunch.
Everyone knows how good it is so You have to be prepared to wait as it gets so busy! Worth the wait though
We had a fantastic evening celebrating my mother in laws 70th birthday. The food, service and atmosphere was great! We can’t wait to have another excuse to return!
Reliably great !!!
Great food ,great service and lovely place to eat .
Nothing negative to say . I eat here frequently .
Lovely food and very friendly staff, lovely restaurant with lots of character and nice and close to home
Food very good and the price was very reasonable. However the service was a huge letdown. We were sat down promptly, but after 15 minutes wait we went to the bar and ordered ourselves. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait for food as there was a large party before us. However after 40 minutes there was still no sign of food and we had to chase them. Eventually it arrived, 50 minutes after ordering and was just plonked down in front of us with no word of apology. It's a shame because it was a lovely pub and the food was good, but we won't be going back there.
Our meal at the George was good value although My husband though there were too many vegetables and not enough meat.
The service was good throughout in spite of being very busy.
Sweets were excellent.
Price was very reasonable.
Altogether a good lunch out although it was very noisy.
We had a celebration diner, 10 in the party, lucky to be given a private room with a round table to seat all 10. Perfect setting, food excellent, portion sizes very generous & would satisfy the heartiest of eaters, only 3 of the party were able to manage a desert. Due to the popularity of The George I would suggest allowing a little extra time if you wish to have a few drinks prior to dining, busy bar area, great atmosphere.
Looking forward to going back in the near future.
The George was an excellent choice for our lunch food and service was perfect would highly recommend.
The George at Spaldwick is a pleasant and comfortable place.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful.
The service was a little slow but the food quality was excellent. Would definitely go back again when l get the chance.
Lovely meal with friends
Really enjoyed the Tiger prawn & chorizo starter. All delicious
This is my go to restaurant in area. Never disappointed and always leave satisfied. Staff are always polite and always happy to help. The food is great and there is so much of it. Ordered the pork belly which was melt in the mouth. My partner ordered the pie which was nearly as big as her head. Quickly realising that she would never be able to finish it all.
Will definitely be visiting again.
We have dined at The George many times over the last couple of years. The Sunday roast is the best we can find locally! Absolutely delicious. The general atmosphere in the bar and restaurant is great and the staff are lovely. We would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.
Great food, great service and a lovely environment.
Excellent service on Saturday. Sophie looked after us brilliantly.
Excellent quality food. Brilliant Malbec. Nice and quiet. Warm atmosphere
A vibrant pub, pity the parking is difficult, even on the high street. The menu still good, the belly pork excellent, variation on prawn cocktail interesting. Sunday lunch good value, generous portions. Sadly delays in serving wine especially second glass! Still worth a long drive.
Bit disappointed this time to be honest, I know it’s a popular place but not being able to hear anything due to the noise is difficult. Service was superb when we first entered but went downhill from the moment we sat at the table . You shouldn’t have to repeatedly ask for the drinks, water to be brought over and regularly ask to see a wine menu.
The food was excellent for most of us ( not the steak) but the service let it down considerably, 45 min wait for starters then another 45 mins after we finished for the main to arrive, they did apologise for the delay later but unfortunately the damage was done, didn’t stay for dessert due to time already spent there and the worry it was going to take forever
Maybe I chose a bad night but it didn’t seem excessively busy
Food was amazing as always, Shame the service let the overall experience down. Too short staffed.
The George never disappoints in food, value, and generally comfortable dining experience
What an absolute hidden gem of a pub if you have never heard or it. The pub atmosphere is terrific, the layout is really spacious (deceptively so) and the food is simply terrific.
Highly recommended and will definitely return
Three of us had the Sunday lunch which was enormous but a bit on the cool side. My daughter had the sirloin steak which had to be returned as it was not cooked as required in fact it was rare and cold in the middle but I must say the staff soon sorted the problem. Then the sticky toffee pudding was disgusting. It was dry and the dates were still whole which anyone knows you should not be able see or taste the dates. We were all a little disappointed with this meal as we chose to come for my birthday as we have some very good meals here in the past but I felt you should know how we feel or you cannot correct them.
Lovely evening, we were told that they are terrible busy. We were waiting for our meals which delivered in 45 minutes. Anyway the food was lovely. Yes we will come back.
The setting for this place was very quaint however the meals where average the service poor as it took over 4 hours for a the course meal, sometime not even being reconised buy staff and having to find staff members ourselves. And you would think the price would reflect poor service but no quite expensive too boot. not impressed at all.
Excellent venue with very attentive Staff.
Menus are varied interesting & reasonably priced.
Two starters delivered and going cold whilst awaiting the other two. Same happened with main courses. Had to ask twice for a jug of water and second round of drinks. Staff friendly and food excellent so all in all enjoyed the visit and will probably go again as conveniently located.
Excellent food as always and the staff are brilliant
