The George Spaldwick
Had a bar snack with friends, food was delicious and plentiful, busy place even on a Monday lunchtime. Lovely ambience, service a little slow, but me friend’s were very impressed as this was their first visit. Excellent value for money
Booked a table for 2 on sunday pm
We were left at bar waiting yo be served
Eventually shown to table
Service was very very slow
Food not as good as previous
Used to be 4 star. It anymore
Good food but a long wait.
Second visit same experience
Booked table for 5 friends, Wednesday evening. We tried to book in for our table and it was really busy at the bar as there was a shoot party in. It would be nice if there was a part of the bar where you can “check in” . Ambiance is lovely and olde worlde decor. Staff were lovely and gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu and were happy to come back as we hadn’t decided. The food was served and were huge portions . Amazing quality and taste. Desserts were good size too and although restaurant closed at 11 we were told that we could go through to bar and carry on our conversation
Great Sunday lunch, very big portions and very yummy. Reasonably priced for what you get! Will be going back.
My husband and I had a lovely meal here on Sunday lunchtime. The food was great, would highly recommend. The only thing that could have improved our experience was staff attention, as we were in the restaurant for 3 hours, but they were very busy.
Food always excellent, menus have good choice. Staff always accommodating to your needs. Wine list fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. Would go every Saturday if my husband allowed.
Absolutely wonderful evening with attentive, polite staff & the most delicious food! Thank you.
Very poor quality pork for a Sunday roast (was not roast at all!)
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Very large portions, good Sunday roast.
The food as always was wonderful but we waited 2 hours to eat by which time my guests and the Birthday guest had had enough and we ate quickly and left
My friend recommended The George so it was my first visit. It really was the best roast dinner I had had in a restaurant ever! I cannot wait to visit again. I loved the pub it was really cozy with comfortable seating. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was outstanding, very large portions but it was so delicious I ate every bit, great value for money too.
We have enjoyed The George a couple of times with family for a meal. Great service, food and pub. The staff are very welcoming and attentive, they can't do enough for you and they make your visit relaxing and very enjoyable. We can't wait to come and visit you again.
Yet again ! Wonderful food. Great service. Well done.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. We are definitely returning to try more dishes. The tomato flatbread starter was amazing, the Sunday Roast Beef and Chicken Kiev as mains were superb. Service was fantastic highly recommend the venue and the food - thank you The George'
The food is always excellent and the atmosphere is always great. Went for Sunday lunch this time and it was lovely. Never feel rushed to leave. Highly recommend
Nice staff, good food and nice atmosphere.would recommend to my friends and family.
We have recommended friends and come to The George frequently. This was the first time we have had
Sunday Lunch. One of our party did not enjoy the beef which was too fatty.
Would have been even better if the waitress could use the words “please & thank you” during service!
Portions were very generous. Food very tasty.
Great Sunday roast and tremendous value for money.
First time visit and very impressed - will be returning. Portions are large so you need to be hungry.
Food is good but portions are very large - hard to eat a starter and main
I am happy to recommend The George at Spaldwick as the food is excellent , generous portions and the staff are very friendly.
Really good service and polite attentive but not overbearing customer relations.
Certainly recommend to friends.
Birthday meal, cannot fault any part of the evening, food superb as previous visits.
Fabulous food and great service as always.
We arrived at 12.30 ordered our drinks and was shown to our table. Starters were ordered and did not have to wait too long before they arrived. Only complaint with my husbands salad with the chicken Gordon's was the Indian salad which comprised of jalepinos which made my husband go very red, tears streamed from his eyes and he couldn't drink enough to put the fire out in his mouth! Perhaps you should either omit these from the salad or warn people they are in it! Mains were delicious and we were too full for pud as portions were very generous we thought. Overall a lovely meal out which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
Sunday roast, it was exceptionally good value for money and the meat was of high quality as was the rest of the dish. Highly recommended. The pub itself is in a lovely location and very well presented
Excellent food - fantastic value for Sunday lunch.
Everyone knows how good it is so You have to be prepared to wait as it gets so busy! Worth the wait though
We had a fantastic evening celebrating my mother in laws 70th birthday. The food, service and atmosphere was great! We can’t wait to have another excuse to return!
Reliably great !!!
Great food ,great service and lovely place to eat .
Nothing negative to say . I eat here frequently .
Lovely food and very friendly staff, lovely restaurant with lots of character and nice and close to home
Food very good and the price was very reasonable. However the service was a huge letdown. We were sat down promptly, but after 15 minutes wait we went to the bar and ordered ourselves. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait for food as there was a large party before us. However after 40 minutes there was still no sign of food and we had to chase them. Eventually it arrived, 50 minutes after ordering and was just plonked down in front of us with no word of apology. It's a shame because it was a lovely pub and the food was good, but we won't be going back there.
Our meal at the George was good value although My husband though there were too many vegetables and not enough meat.
The service was good throughout in spite of being very busy.
Sweets were excellent.
Price was very reasonable.
Altogether a good lunch out although it was very noisy.
We had a celebration diner, 10 in the party, lucky to be given a private room with a round table to seat all 10. Perfect setting, food excellent, portion sizes very generous & would satisfy the heartiest of eaters, only 3 of the party were able to manage a desert. Due to the popularity of The George I would suggest allowing a little extra time if you wish to have a few drinks prior to dining, busy bar area, great atmosphere.
Looking forward to going back in the near future.
The George was an excellent choice for our lunch food and service was perfect would highly recommend.
The George at Spaldwick is a pleasant and comfortable place.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful.
The service was a little slow but the food quality was excellent. Would definitely go back again when l get the chance.
Lovely meal with friends
Really enjoyed the Tiger prawn & chorizo starter. All delicious
This is my go to restaurant in area. Never disappointed and always leave satisfied. Staff are always polite and always happy to help. The food is great and there is so much of it. Ordered the pork belly which was melt in the mouth. My partner ordered the pie which was nearly as big as her head. Quickly realising that she would never be able to finish it all.
Will definitely be visiting again.
We have dined at The George many times over the last couple of years. The Sunday roast is the best we can find locally! Absolutely delicious. The general atmosphere in the bar and restaurant is great and the staff are lovely. We would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.
