I dined here only this evening and was desperate to get a review in. Me and my partner both opted for the 8 course degustation menu…and oh my goodness, It was absolutely amazing!! 8 courses (and much more!) of creative, elegant, deliciousness. The restaurant itself holds so much history which adds to the great atmosphere. The staff were really friendly and explained the food presented to you. The value for money on the menu was outstanding and you really do get plenty of food, we are stuffed! We would really recommend 1610, massive hats off to the chefs, thank you for a great evening!

A special treat for my birthday. Excellent service, very well looked after. Unusual menu, prepared with delicacy and precision. Not for diners who expect their plates to be piled high

Fabulous as always, tried the Degustation menu for the first time and was not disappointed, tried things i would never have been brave enough to try. Every course was beautifully presented. Took our friend for the first time and she loved it as well. Wonderful experience and beautiful restaurant

Overall a very happy night out with old colleague friend of my late husband from London coming up to visit me after 15 years since our unforgettable dinner at an old famous popular traditional Swiss restaurant in the old town of Zurich in 2008 ! Compared to that Swiss dinner, this dinner experience was as happy as the Swiss one ! But I personally felt far more satisfied with the Swiss dinner in Zurich 15 years ago, as I am not a fan of cordon blue style dinner like what Globe Inn offers today. The quantity in this occasion was too small for my stomach, because I am a big eater, although I am a petite female pensioner. Besides, the cost at this occasion was far too much more expensive than our Swiss dinner while we both did not even have any wine but only 3 bottles of sparkling water ! I definitely will not be able to afford outing to Globe Inn on the regular basis as a pensioner, unless I won the biggest prize in the European Lottery ! I did appreciate the service ! All staff members were great and sweet and fun ! Conclusion : I miss the old days with my late husband often having lunch at Globe Inn, husband sitting on Robert Burns’s old chair, enjoying our favorite Steak Kidney Pie which used to cost us £12.99 and then, increased to £16.99 after the last renovation, but we still were able to cope with less visits ! Best wishes to the new Globe Inn dinner style ! Believe there must be still plenty of cordon blue fans who can afford outings to Globe Inn !!! 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋❤️❤️❤️

Very enjoyable evening in pleasant surroundings with attentive and knowledgeable staff. The food was outstanding in taste and presentation and, although we opted for a la carte rather than the degustation menu, choosing one thing from a well thought out and imaginative menu was no easy task.

Lovely dining experience. Food was visually beautiful and tasted delicious. For a combined 3 course dinner it was well proportioned but as single dishes they are quite small and pricey for the amount you get. However, it's certainly fine dining and the wine was good too

Top quality fine dining, delicious, interesting flavours, evidence of much complicated hard work in the kitchen. Very small portions are offset by multiple delicious "tasters" so you don't end up hungry (you only need the chips as a side). Very expensive for Dumfries, but worth it for special occasions. Unfortunately, the really drab decor (especially ugly carpet), bad lighting and uncomfortable miss-matched junk shop chairs spoil the ambience. But the cooking is outstanding and the staff are charming and efficient.

Lovely dinner, and great staff. If there is a weakness in the menu it is with deserts. My only complaint is that it was a bit cold at first. Nevertheless, the food was excellent, and great effort has been made by the front and back of house staff to provide an enjoyable experience. I'd certainly recommend the Globe Inn, and loo forward to returning to eat again.

Enjoyed dinner in the 1610 restaurant from the A La Carte menu. Inventive cooking and excellent presentation, with amuse-bouche and petit fours adding a little flourish at the beginning and end of the meal. Service was unhurried and attentive.
