The Granary Square Brasserie
The brasserie buzz through breakfast, morning coffee, lunch and cream teas in the afternoon. Throughout the day the lounge area will be perfect to relax with a drink or for informal meetings with luxurious vintage leather chairs and low brass tables. As the sun sets and we get ready for dinner, the DJ set will begin, and cocktails will flow.
The restaurant is beautiful with cut glass pendant lights, banquettes upholstered in silk and velvet and exotic kilim rugs. The striking central bar, located in the heart of the room, is perfect to survey the scene and enjoy an aperitif cocktail.
Friday - Saturday: 8:00am- 01:30am
Sunday: 9:00am- 11:00pm
I’ve been here before and loved it but the food was not good and two of us had to return our meals, twice! Will go back to give them a second chance as the venue is great
One of the best meals we have had in London. Food was very reasonably priced and really, totally delicious. From the starters that set up the meal perfectly, the mains that were beautiful cuts of meat, to the desserts that just melted in your mouth. The service was capable and friendly as well.
Been here a number of times before. Food is good – although not many vegetarian options. Would recommend because it usually is good overall. This visit however proof the exception. The service was Slow..... wThe first of her party to arrive pointed out that he was early and asked if he could wait outside and have a gin and tonic. He was told no. He then asked if He could sit on a bench outside and have a gin and tonic. He was told no. At this .2 young ladies arrived and asked if they could sit at a table outside. They were told yes!!
Service was very slow, especially with drinks. Probably would have bought more wine if they’d been quicker...
Lovely food but spoiled my lack of service.
Love the Ivy chains but the service really lets this place down - slow and not attentive at all. Took ages to order and we had to eventually call someone over to clear our plates and order coffees. Seems the more they open, the poorer the service is becoming - similar experience at the new Tower Bridge branch.
An enjoyable evening. Restaurant was busy so service was slow & as a consequence our food was warmish rather than hot.
However we enjoyed the ambience & are prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt. Staff are very pleasant.
lovely restaurant and outdoor! Food is simple but great and tasty, service nice too. A good place to go back too, for casual evening dinners, or lunch or special occasions!
Enjoyed the ambience and the food was great but it falls down badly on service. We had to ask at each course for a forgotten item and there was quite a long wait before we were attended to on arrival. It was also unclear who our waiter was. Our drink was being kept cool but relied on waiters to pour which meant looking for one when our glasses were empty. Get the service right and it would be a great place to go. Not sure I would go again
Good location close to two major stations. Service a little slow at times especially when drinks were running low. Ambiance good especially when sitting outside
Lovely resturant, beautiful decor, friendly well trained waiters and waitresses but gave me and my fellow guests space to enjoy ourselves. Visited twice in two weeks. Would highly recommend. Food looks, tastes wonderful. The right size portions not too rich. Menu explains exactly what you are ordering.
Very disappointed on our meal Sunday evening. Was our anniversary and I called into let them know and nothing was done for this. My wife received a dirty glass and the water we paid for went away in glass and wasn’t replaced. My wife’s dinner was lovely and couldn’t be faulted. Mine was a different story. Went to order ribeye but sold out. Sold out on a Sunday at 5.30 pm. Ordered burger and chips. The chips were cold so went back to get power boiled in the microwave. Yes that’s was they came back like. You couldn’t touch the stainless steel container. Very poor set altogether.
The food was nice enough but the service was appalling. The drinks had to be requested again by the waiter because they didn't arrive. We ordered the waffle to have after the main meal but the waiter brought pancakes. After we told him that we had ordered the waffle he simply told us that he had written down pancakes, implying that we had told him the wrong thing. He then didn't seem to realise that the waffle came with all of the toppings listed, and tried to get us to choose. We asked for all of them but when the waffle came it didn't have all of the toppings on the menu. When I requested the bill we had been charged for pancakes, not the waffle. I requested a menu to double check the price. The waffle cost £2 less than the pancakes. When we queried this with the waiter he told us they were the same price. When we showed him the menu he told us he would go and check. He eventually came back with the correct bill. The waiter had a bad attitude from start to finish. I would not come here again.
Great food, great atmosphere & good company who could ask for more? Thought there was live music on but there wasn’t but the ambience was great without it
Took ages to deliver dishes between courses along with giving us the bill. Food was less than average and hugely over priced. Not a great experience.
Nice venue and decor.
Service could be better
Good food and a decent experience overall, however the level of service and overall friendliness of the staff falls short of what I am used to from an actual Ivy restaurant.
Very tasty food . Sat outside in the sun , surroundings where fabulous until I went inside where it was breath taking. What a beautiful restaurant that we can't wait to return in August for our 1st wedding anniversary.
Great location, with lovely outdoor terrace. Food pretty good and prices reasonable. Service not great..forgot our side orders, and added an additional bottle of wine onto bill.
We came to The Granary Square Brasserie for our boss's farewell dinner.
Everything was exceptional, the food and the atmosphere, but the service was a bit slow.
Will come back to try more dishes.
Service was the worst I’ve ever encountered. It took 1.5 hours for our meal. When I complained they took the wine off the bill which was a very nice gesture. It’s a beautiful spot but the service is terrible.
Had a wonderful outdoor table on a balmy evening. Food was really good and not overpriced. Shared the squid which was a large portion and then had the prawn curry which was lovely. Came with rice and a yoghurt dip so no sides required. Nice wine which wasn’t that expensive. Attentive waiting. All in all a recommendable experience.
Took my friend here as a treat for her 50th Birthday. Service was slow although there was only one other table in use. First coffee arrived cold so returned it, second not much better but could not be bothered to make a fuss. Food ok, mine not too hot but did not want to spoil my friends day as she said hers was nice so did not complain. Overall not a great dining experience and will not be returning.
I can’t fault this place on anything. We were treated so well and the food, service, wine list, ambience, everything was fantastic. If you can, sit on the terrace and admire the fountains and the view.
Terrible vegetarian option (singular). There should be more options.
I don't appreciate the bill coming when I haven't asked for it, and then for it to be wrong.
Would expect the service to be much better.
Won't be going back in a rush.
Wonderful food, wonderful service. Will 100% be returning! Thankyou!
Nice food, but poor service. The order was taken three times and despite being reconfirmed it was still wrong when it arrived.
Food was good when we eventually got it. And it’s a lovely location. But service was sloppy, which means I’m unlikely to return.
pleasant ambience, sat outside...however the waiters grasp of the english language was very poor which made things very difficult to order
The food was simply delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and the deco was really beautifully done! I have been twice and will return for drinks and food most definitely!
We sat on the terrace at the front in the evening sunshine... Lovely ambiance, friendly service and good food...
The food was delicious, atmosphere buzzy, service attentive and we had an altogether lovely evening
Great atmosphere. Eat in or outside overlooking the vibrant Granary Square. Food was first class (excellent quality, great taste and well-presented) and part of an extensive menu supported by a good wine, cocktail, drinks list. Service was warm, friendly, helpful (I am a wheelchair user) and with the perfect balance of managing to be both unhurried-yet-attentive. As regular visitors to this area, we will be back –– indeed, we have already booked our next meal!!
Lovely but just a bit too expensive to make it a regular stop over on the way home from work!
My husband and I took an elderly friend to celebrate her birthday. On a very warm, sunny evening we sat outside in the very pretty patio area. The ambience was lovely, our food was very good. Wine and beers were extremely expensive, which would preclude us going for an ordinary evening out, and the waiters had difficulty understanding the name of things on the menu. Otherwise it was an extremely enjoyable evening.
Overall the experience was good- the food was lovely, we sat outside which was nice. The service was extremely slow however, and in places a little sloppy. Their communication wasn't great- we got asked the same question multiple times and we had to ask for our bill twice. It took them a very long time to take our empty plates and to offer us dessert menus... which for us was fine as we were busy catching up, but it would have been inconvenient in another situation.
We both had the burger which was lovely. The dessert we shared a Strawberry Sundae which wasn't great- a couple of strawberries and a pile of icecream and marscapone which gave it an off flavour.
The drinks selection was very good and the waiter was happy to recommend a wine.
Overall very good- think we may have picked a bad day for service but I'd definitely be happy to go back and give them another go.
Everything was lovely except I felt sick afterwards and my friend was sick all day after the visit. The only thing we had the same was coffee but with cold milk.....It could be completely unrelated to our visit but thought I would mention it. I would still visit again.
First visit and I will definitely return. Great location in the now very trendy Granary Square just behind St Pancras. Great decor and styling. We were lucky enough to be able to eat outside and it felt like you were in a tropical garden. Food was delicous and service very friendly and efficient. Good varied menu and extensive wine list. Look forward to my next visit!
I had been to the Granary Brasserie before with a friend and everything was just perfect (food, atmosphere, service, decor). Unfortunately this time the experience has been very poor, which was embarassing towards my friends and husband which I invited there. The service was very poor. It felt there wasn't enough staff. At arrival they told me that there was no space outside because of an event. I asked again then they gave us a table outside (which was great) but we realized that no other events or other people ever arrived, most tables were empty, both inside and outside (compared with my previous time). We had to ask even for sparkling water on several occasions. It took a long time for the starters to arrive, then after 20 minutes we had to chase our main courses and we were told that there was a big table ahead of us (we replied that that was not our problem as we had ordered long before). When the food arrived, it was very average. This is not what you should expect from a restaurant which is part of the Ivy Collection. My husband, who visited the Granary Brasserie for the first time, said 'we are not going back there ever again' which is a real shame as I had such a great experience the first time I went that I wanted to enjoy it as much again.
Started ok, but service was very slow. Half our mains arrived, then we had to wait about 15mins for the other mains. Also took ages to clear plates & get bill. Food was ok, not outstanding. Setting was pleasant so I would go back but only for a drink/nibbles and to sit in the terrace sun.
The overall experience was good. However, when we arrived we asked to be seated outside, and the hostes didn’t even check to see if we could sit outside (she just said it wasn’t possible. Even though other people were able to move from inside to outside, and also there was enough space available when we arrived). Didn’t appreciate this. The food was good, however it would have been nice to know that a side dish would be needed, as the portions weren’t that big. This was not clear from the menu. Drinks were very good! And the prices as well. The tartar was amazing. And the look of the place was also very very nice. However the service could do with some work. It felt more like we were an inconvenience - even though the restaurant wasn’t even full.
Sunday dinner - we did not get a waiter for our table. Other tables got served before us so we asked to give our order to their waiter. Our aperitif arrived after our meal. No one came to check if we needed sauces etc. We left before dessert. The food was good, though there was a plastic wrapper in the tuna dish. For this price - oh dear.
