The Granary Square Brasserie
The brasserie buzz through breakfast, morning coffee, lunch and cream teas in the afternoon. Throughout the day the lounge area will be perfect to relax with a drink or for informal meetings with luxurious vintage leather chairs and low brass tables. As the sun sets and we get ready for dinner, the DJ set will begin, and cocktails will flow.
The restaurant is beautiful with cut glass pendant lights, banquettes upholstered in silk and velvet and exotic kilim rugs. The striking central bar, located in the heart of the room, is perfect to survey the scene and enjoy an aperitif cocktail.
Friday - Saturday: 8:00am- 01:30am
Sunday: 9:00am- 11:00pm
Vibrant restaurant with good food and close to the underground and granary Square.
There were not enough waiting staff in our section. We waited 40 mins for our drinks to arrive. When lunch came out it was the wrong order. We were there in total 1.5 hours which for a lunch time was slightly excessive as we only ordered steak sandwiches and the salmon and crab sandwich.
Our waiter was great and friendly, there just was not enough staff on at that time.
We could not have been more disappointed. Poor service ruined a rare family gathering for us. 1 waitress was lovely, but the guy that took over took 50 minutes to serve two gin and tonics. Etc. The food was so bad, I would have sent it back at the time except no waiter appeared to send it back with... I hate complaining, all we were looking for was a mellow lovely dinner. Sadly we didn’t get it.
Service reasonably swift once it started, but rather disappointed with the chicken dish which was very dry and needed liquid of some kind. Little positive suggestions from the waiter.
Bit of a disaster ! Usually service and food is spot on but on this occasion, it was a disaster ! Sunday evening dinner for 5 of us. Started ok, although we had to wait 15 mins for a table for 5 even though there were plenty of tables available. Once seated, it took a while to get our orders in. Starters came as per usual, food was nice. Mains took around 50 mins. Way too long. Kitchen basically forgot, waitress sort of acknowledged this. Desserts were good and in usual time, but my amaretto took over 20 mins to come. For a drink. I put it down to a “bad day at the office”. Our waitress removed totals cost of drinks and service. I appreciated that. Gave her service back. As a tip, maybe avoid Sunday evening - the music was way too loud. The DJ though he was in Hakkasan!?
20 minutes between being seated and getting some water. Chipped glasses. Had to ask for napkins. Flavourless chips. The zucchini were 70% batter.
Went there for brunch- i had the avocado, eggs- very poor and arrived cold!
No hesitation in coming back very attentive staff, great menu (although a simple ingredient swap request was a little tricky to organise but was agreed to and a really fantastic feel about the place with young and old mixed in to creat a superb place to brunch! In the words of a certain cyborg...."I'll be back!!"
Really nice decor and decent food. Nothing amazing but a nice place to go with kids
I want to like The Granary Street Brasserie, and have been back several times to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the service is simply not up scratch. Each time I have been, we have been largely abandoned and need to make an effort to get a drink or food. The staff seem lovely, but over-stretched!
Love this chain of restaurants, however, this one let us down. Making a last min booking for this restaurant meant we weren’t sitting in the main restaurant, we were sat in added on bar area, which lacked atmosphere and meant we were forgotten about, i.e. the service was poor - drinks came after our food, main course came within seconds of putting our knife and fork down from our starter, my main course was cold, we weren’t asked if we wanted anymore drinks once our bottle of wine had finished.... in hindsight, I’m a bit disappointed we paid the service. We would go back, but would ask in advance if our table was going to be in the main restaurant, and would also send the mains back if they came out so soon after starters, and cold!
Very good all round. Good food and attentive service
I booked the table for a 3 friend meet up. We've been at the Brasserie a few times in the past and like the new makeover. The food was delicious with a good range of choices and the service attentive.
The setting is beautiful and makes me want to take pictures every time. The service is efficient and polite, without being overly pushy. I have been there for both breakfast and lunch and the food is lovely.
Sooo duapointing on do many levels .. restaurant very quiet but service appalling. Managed to get out order totally wrong and I had to return my main course as cold ... not up to The Ivy standards
Took our friends from New Zealand to Granary Brasserie - they loved it! Great atmosphere and food. Friendly staff, albeit a tad slow to refill our wine glasses. Our friends were amazed at how King’s Cross has evolved - they haven’t been to London in 5 years. Great location to sit outside in the summer too. One of our new favourite restaurants.
Great food - loved the courgette chips. Salmon also excellent. Service a little slow - took a long time for my friend’s glass of wine to arrive. Background music noisy and monotonous but otherwise a good evening.
Enjoyable meal in comfortable dining room, reasonable service, could be more attentive.
First time visit. Great place to sit in and felt comfortable. The food was ok and worth the money. All I would say is that the cleaning of all the plates and glasses needs some attention. Felt a little rushed on cleaning on close inspection
Service was slow and once we had orders our drinks didn’t arrive bad we had to prompt another waiter. When our food arrived it was cold and some wrong items were on there so we had to return the meals. I was expecting a little better as the decor is beautiful but the service didn’t quite match nor did the price we paid for our meal.
Food was nice l, nothing amazing. Service was dreadful. Understaffed and waiter not attentative - forgot items, food cold had to go back, extra items added onto bill - not ideal for this type of establishment. Need to up their game.
Restaurant decor and atmosphere is lovely. Great bar.
The service at GS used to be fantastic: warm, efficient and professional. Now it's cold and lacking - wine was slopped around the table, food slammed down without any eye contact. Food has also deteriorated slightly, I wonder if there have been some staffing changes.
Impressed with being able to book a lunchtime table table for 9 on the same day day and was quite pleased with the initial greeting, setting and staff friendliness. Unfortunately we waited far too long for starters and then we were one short. The mains and drinks order went a similar way and one of my guests had to leave his main to go back to the office, whilst another had to change their order.
Overall not a great lunch but the food was nice and generally good value so will probably give them a second chance.
I have been to many of the Ivy brasseries so the food was very good as always but the rest was a let down. Service was really slow, music was super loud so we shouted all night and the staff were really friendly but a little robotic.
Sadly, I think the Ivy chain has expanded too fast and the experience is very chain like. I won’t be going back
We had a lovely evening, and the food was interesting and tasty. Service was pleasant but a bit hit-and-miss.
Atmosphere was brilliant and food was amazing! Service let it down, far too slow and not very attentive. Really enjoyed the music being played in the restaurant, and the vegetarian and vegan menu choices were really good!
Second visit to Granary Square Brasserie didn't disappoint - an extensive menu with something for everyone. Service was a bit slow, with water getting forgotten, and having to ask for wine top ups (wine was in an ice bucket away from the table). Lovely ambience sitting outside. Wine list could do with a reasonably priced Provence rose.
As part of the Ivy group I knew what food to expect which is why we went, I have been to most of the Ivy Group's restaurants and always enjoyed my dining experience. Unfortunately this was not really the case here, whilst the food was good and of the same quality as the Ivy Brassiere's, the service was not very good. We went for Sunday brunch and sat outside, lovely setting, was not really busy. The service was quite slow, wrong drink given, my husbands entrée didn't turn up, until I chased it, our sides arrived with the entree's and then for some reason our Mains took forever. Luckily we weren't in a hurry and it was a nice day sitting outside. But service very much let me down.
we were lucky enough to sit outside as it was a nice weather.
service was a little slow - possibly as we were outside.
food was delicious and would definitely return,
Second attempt at this place, was hesitant to book again as previous trip resulted in poor service and mediocre food. And unfortunately this hadn’t changed. Don’t go if you’re in a rush or hungry, it simply takes forever to get someone’s attention or to get an order in. Food is okay but nothing to write home about and definitely better places in the area. It’s a lovely looking place and the hosts at the reception are lovely but beyond the facade, it really is rather disappointing.
Great food, service and ambience for a family and friends meal.
Not a great experience.
The waiter completely forgot to take drinks orders for 2 of our party of 4.
A requested medium cooked steak was swimming in blood and the tripple cooked chips were nothing more than hard shells.
We were in a cramped space and had to retrieve our wine from it's stand as this was placed next to a completely different table.
Great food. Fab location
We were shown to our seats fine. 25 minutes later the team had failed to serve us, failing to catch a members of staff's attention to get served we had no choice but to leave. Very disappointing.
As always this restaurant didn’t disappoint , we always have a great night there
Terrible management skills and customer service. The lack of knowledge of the food menu was evident.
One of the managers or supervisors that were present at the time(short blonde hair lady named Ambra as I’ve been told) was extremely rude and lacked good management skills. She didn’t know how to treat customers and for that reason the entire experience was very poor. We were extremely disappointed with the poor customer service and their lack of knowledge. It was an unbelievably horrendous experience and unacceptable for anyone to experience on the basis of how Ambra was treating the customers, being very unprofessional. It was shocking to experience especially for someone who attends fine dining on a regular basis.
absolutely faultless service and lovely food would highly recommend.
Great food options for veggies and vegans. Great gin cocktails.
Overall a pleasant experience, though the service was inconsistent - at some point all over and then waiting to get attention for 10 min and another 20 for the espressos to arrive. Perhaps some of the staff was still in training.
Food- good but nothing to rave about. Peaches on mozarella di buffala tasted like sour green apples. Why use ingredients that are not in full taste?
Very poor service - slow and didn't understand the order which we repeated several times. Next- our full order did not arrive and it lacked value for money given the food was average.
