Very warm welcome when we arrived. Lovely ambience and decor. Food was delicious. Butternut squash risotto cake with roast veg, scampi and a burger (which my sister said was the best she had ever had). Excellent value for money. Will definitely be back.
I’ve never had a bad meal at the Granby. The staff are pleasant and attentive without being ‘in your face’. Well priced menu that isn’t overly expensive. I’ll be back!
The cod and chips were to die for!
As were both the steak and the braised steak pie.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Tasty food.
Good value for money as lots of offers to take advantage of.
We had rib eye steaks on the steak night offer
Cooked to perfection
Great place to eat. Lovely pub and great lunchtime menu. Have eaten here numerous times and never been disappointed. Great friendly service
Its a while (at least 12 months) since we last went.
Covid aside, the lounge area was somewhat lacking in so far the decor was very plain and the room lacked warmth and character.
The Sunday Lunch was very lacklustre - devoid of real taste and the gravy did nothing to lift the blandness.
On the plus side, staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Good choice of menu
Sunday lunch , plenty of meat and well cooked
Varied menu with some interesting choices. Friendly, efficient staff.
Sticky tables need attention.
We were put in restaurant 3 which was cold
The staff were welcoming
food was just ok nothing to rave about
The Granby came highly recommended, which is why we booked for an evening meal on our short holiday in the area. However, our table was in an uninspiring room, next to the bar area, and sadly there were two couples dining together who were extremely loud, to the point that ourselves and two other couples in the same room were constantly wincing with the sudden bursts of laughter and loud shouting. When paying for our meal we were asked if we had enjoyed ourselves, to which I replied that a lovely meal was spoilt by the constant barrage of noise from the next table. The staff were well aware of it, and we felt that, even though we made light of it, they should have quietly offered us the chance of re-locating to another area in the pub so that we could enjoy our meals in relative peace. As this was the first time we had entered the premises, we had no idea that there were other rooms available to dine in.
From the moment we stepped through the door we were made to feel welcome. Attentive, friendly but not overbearing service. Food arrived promptly and was quite superb. The 3 course menu is excellent value for money whilst the lamb chops and fish n chips from the main menu were nigh on perfection. We intended to visit just once whilst on holiday but were so impressed we returned 2 days later.
’ve driven and ran past here many times so it was about time we called in for Sunday lunch.
Firstly, the table was easy to book on Opentable. Despite turning up 15 minutes early we were able to be accommodated. That’s where the first impression was made with a very pleasant lady saying that it was no problem and we were soon settled in to our seats.
I was pleased to see plenty of options of the menu and I couldn’t fault the prawn cocktail, roast pork (with sizeable Yorkshire pudding and delicious veg).
The desert menu was very tempting and while I was drawn to the Creme Brûlée I decided on cheesecake and a latte to wash it down. The desert was absolutely superb.
The final bill was very reasonable. I should make special mention of the very pleasant and attentive staff.
If you want a nice drive out into Northumberland with a brilliant Sunday lunch then this is the place for you.
We’ll be back soon as I want to try the creme brulee!
Lovely meal at The Granby, good choice of food catering for all. Service great, staff are lovely.
We were really looking forward to our meal here, sadly it didn't live up to our expectations. For a start, insufficient distances between tables - as if Covid doesn't exist.
Sadly the service was a real disappointment - massive wait between main and dessert courses. We were also sat with empty glasses for an hour - and we waited to see how long it would take before someone realised and asked if we wanted another drink. Sadly, they never came. But by that point we had decided we weren't going to give them anymore money. Explained this to the lady at the end when we paid, but she seemed disinterested. Its a place which seems to get lots of tourists, so making a good impression doesn't seem important.
Food was ok overall. I had the rib eye steak which at £22 was only average. Not a patch on other steaks I've had for a similar price, from places like Miller & Carter.
Overall - a disappointment. It was our anniversary and we were hoping for good things. Sadly, it was really poor.
Lovely food and service was so friendly, will definitely return
First time eating here, food was lovely and excellent value for money. Will definitely be back!
It was a lovely experience, The lady whom served us gave us a Corona Virus briefing. Explained the menu and was the special board. The food was exceptional and portion size, was just right. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, I would certainly recommend The Granby Inn to anyone and everyone
Always good food, interesting menu, reasonably priced with friendly service. We’ll be back!
Lovely two course lunch menu for £10. Very tasty and very good value. Pleasant staff and couldn’t fault anything. This was the second time there in two weeks.
We were visiting the area on a family break over the weekend having never been before, we came across The Granby Inn on trip advisor before we arrived & we are so glad we visited. The food was outstanding & the staff were so friendly we thoroughly enjoyed it & would highly recommend to others
Absolutely delicious Sunday roast. Can't wait to come back!
Great food, really friendly service, we've booked back in
We had lunch here after a long journey from the south and it was fabulous. We were the only diners in that day which meant we had premium attention and could chat to the staff, but ambience would have been better with a few more people. Having said that everything else was terrific - the food was well cooked, well presented and very tasty. Staff were attentive and friendly and we had a great time. Highly recommended
Potato skins starter was just say warm, waiting staff couldn’t tell me what type of curry was on the menu. Kids fish was full of bones, chips were frozen chips which is bad for a restaurant and scampi well over cooked. Worst meal in a long time.
The event proved ok but the food not as good as we expected and the ambience a little to muted.
Enjoy our meal and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
Fantastic food .
Lovely meal. Opted for the two courses for £10. The chicken curry was very tasty, as was the cheesecake. Staff very friendly and professional.
The food here is excellent - we came back twice, the chef really knows how to cook good flavoursome food, out of all the pubs and restaurants we went to on our holiday this was the beat by far. The staff were also very attentive and so friendly - great pub!
Beautiful food !
Due to Covid it took a while to get food but well worth the wait. The team working there are great and worked so hard. Great evening and all 5 of our family went home exceedingly full up ! Thank you
The room was busy and noisy probably due to holidays and halfprice meal offer. Previously we have enjoyed The Granby for its peace and comfort so we were out of luck, however, it was good to see them busy, hope it continues after August. Waited over 30 mins for our mains, again probably because they were so busy but we were served after several diners who arrived after us. Only one way in and out which is not ideal in Covid situation, so difficult for distancing, as it was inside, passing through bar, restaurant and down a narrow passage past the kitchen to our table and then back that way again. Menu was a total change for us from past visits! Very up-market now, what we had was quite nice but not hot. Didn't stay for dessert, might have been another long wait! My wife did not feel at all safe in the environment, I was not happy either. Might be back after August.
We love the Granby. We are so spoilt. It is on our doorstep so we can walk and enjoy delicious food and have a glass of wine, without worrying about drink driving. We felt safe as the tables are well spaced. Such a treat especially with the Governmentl paying £10 per head .
been before and value and food always good, but ask for the restaurant when booking, as the bar area is quite small
Absolutely wonderful food - very high restaurant quality. The ambience and relaxing manner of all made our meal during Covid times really special and normal even though safety was handled excellently.
Great value and choice. Enjoyed the meal immensely.
Love this place. The only thing that bothers me is that the locals seem to be treated better than people just coming in for lunch.
Been coming here for sometime now and it just keeps getting better the food is very fresh and tasty along with the presentation our favourite place for Sunday lunch
Visited as a family group of 7, friendly service, good choice of food. Food was hot, delicious and all served at the same time. We couldn’t fault a thing! Will definitely come again
We enjoyed our visit. Food, service and ambiance were all very good.
