Many thanks for your lovely five star review - we look forward to welcoming you back to The Grange again soon. Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange Restaurant
Had a good lunch in a nice setting. Staffed by professional staff assisted by enthusiastic volunteers. Dogs coming in and out for training- some noisy but none difficult. A great way to have an enjoyable lunch/coffee/tea while contributing to an amazing cause. A good selection of interesting cards and gifts in the shop too. Thoroughly recommend.
Dear Lynda Thank you for taking the time to provide such a lovely review and kind recommendation. We hope to welcome you back to The Grange again very soon. Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange Restaurant
Very busy, but lovely atmosphere. Food was lovely as always. Lovely touch with the little valentines bags to promote sponsorship awareness. Couldn’t resist the gift shop- again!!
Dear 'Mumsy1' Many thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review and share a kind recommendation. So pleased you enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and of course, the Gift Shop too! We look forward to welcoming you back to The Grange again soon. Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange Restaurant
Friendly service for everyone with well behaved dogs actively welcomed. 5 stars from me and 5 woofs from my dog.
Dear Frank and your dog Thanks so much for the five stars, the five woofs and the very kind recommendation! We hope to welcome you both back again very soon. Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange Restaurant
Me & my mum were gifted vouchers for a classic afternoon tea at the Grange and we were very impressed. The food was lovely and beautifully presented. The staff were so very friendly and very attentive. And the restaurant setting itself is so pretty and relaxing. We also enjoyed a lovely browse around the gift shop afterwards. We will definitely be going back and thoroughly recommend the Grange Restaurant!
Dear Marie I'm so happy to hear that you and your mum enjoyed your Classic Afternoon Tea gift vouchers at The Grange. Thank you so much for taking a moment to share your feedback, your lovely five stars and your 'thorough recommendation'. We very much look forward to welcoming you back to The Grange again soon. There's plenty more to explore with wholesome breakfasts, delicious seasonal lunches and more Afternoon Tea! Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange Restaurant
I have visited many times, usually for breakfast, it's always lovely.
Dear Rachel Many thanks for your ongoing support and your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you back again very soon! Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange
We had a very enjoyable time. The main course was excellent, especially the salads. The bread and butter pudding was too dry and the serving of ice-cream with it was minuscule! Milk from a jug that came with coffee was needed to moisten it. The GF carrot cake was not as moist as it should have been.
The small bottles of white wine did not have much flavour.
There were 4 diners. 2 of us had a 20% discount. Our 2-course meal, with coffee and 2 small bottles of wine cam to just under £72.
Many thanks for your feedback, which I will share with the team. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit, particularly liking your main courses and salads, but disappointed to hear your feedback on the puddings, for which we wholeheartedly apologise. We will always rectify any problem and we urge customers to let us know straight away. We can then put things right quickly, ensuring you leave having had a positive experience and an enjoyable meal. Rest assured we will address your comments.
Unfortunately when we arrived a table had only been reserved for 3 when I had booked for 5/we had to wait a while for tables to be sorted out which wasn’t great as my father-in-law has dementia and very unsteady on his feet. The lady in charge was abrupt and didn’t believe I had reserved for 5 until I showed her the booking on my phone she then apologised. The pie two members of our party ordered was suppose to come with mash and broccoli but arrived with no mash at all , very expensive for a very small dinner
Dear Dolly, I'm so sorry to hear about the mix up with your booking on your arrival. What a shame you then had a further mistake with your main course, on what was a very busy day at The Grange. You must have been very disappointed with your experience, for which I am wholeheartedly sorry. Please accept our sincere apologies and rest assured that I have shared your comments with the team for us to review and address it as a matter of priority. With kind regards, Rachel
Very charming if a bit chaotic!
Would definitely go again.
Dear Pamela Many thanks for your kind review - we're delighted to hear that you'll definitely come back again, and slightly intrigued as to what happened during your visit to create chaos... It's not a perspective we've heard before! We hope to welcome you back again soon, for a sedate and relaxing experience next time! Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange Restaurant
The Grange at Saunderton is a gem in the Chilterns! Delicious food, friendly volunteers and staff, beautiful location and, best of all - all profits are donated to the Hearing Dogs charity. We lunched on a very busy day, but everyone was pleasant, polite and kind - it’s a happy place. Do book ahead if you want to be sure of a table. No service charge is added to your bill, which is so unusual these days, and the food is very good value for the quality of the ingredients. The “sound clouds” do make a difference and we could hear each other really well, and there’s the added bonus of dogs being allowed - the occasional bark makes everyone smile! We’ll certainly be back.
Thank you Tony! What a fabulous, kind and very thorough review. I'm so happy you enjoyed your visit to The Grange Restaurant and I'll be sure to pass your comments on to the team - our hard-working volunteers and staff front of house, as well as the dedicated team in the kitchens. 'A gem in the Chilterns' and 'a happy place' are exactly what we are striving for. We'll certainly be happy to welcome you back again very soon. Kindest regards, Rachel (on behalf of the team).
Four adults had lunch at The Grange on Wed. 5th February booked for 12.30pm; the two salads were nice and quickly selected but the two hot dishes: fish and chips and fishcakes were not served for a long time. Resulting in a long wait for us to eat together. When we enquired the staff said they were 'very busy' although many of the other customers had left by then. Once we had got over the delay we all enjoyed our meals and the pleasant atmosphere.
Many thanks for your kind review, Juliet. I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your meals, but sorry to hear about the unfortunate disparity in service. With our salads available as a quick bite and served directly at the counter, and our main meals freshly prepared and cooked to order, there will always be a delay between the two items. We have included light appetisers on the menu, such as olives or hummus dips for exactly that scenario, but I'll share your feedback with the team to consider.
Staff /food/service great as usual but unfortunately on this visit for some reason the restaurant was absolutely packed with parents & numerous newborn babies- ruined visit for us and my elderly mother . The noise level was very loud and my mother found it very hard getting to the ladies manouevering around all the prams, high chairs, etc. Other visits have not had this problem. Has put us off visiting again.
Hi Kate Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We are so delighted you found the food, service and staff "great as usual", but do please try us again, and do please request a quiet table when booking - we will really endeavour to help you. Kindest regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange
I have frequently been to this venue and have always found it to be good value and the food is amazing. I am never disappointed and I really love going there with my grandchildren; my granddaughter in particular likes it as she sees 'dogs' and she loves animals. We have had lunches mostly but on one occasion had an afternoon tea and that was perfect too. It is a popular place; I always book a table to be on the safe side. I would definitely recommend it to all.
Many thanks for your fabulous review, Cookie. We do so appreciate our regular customers, and we're so pleased you keep coming back to us for more! We're becoming a firm favourite for many families with their dogs, as well as visits from our own Hearing Dogs in training, and we're delighted your granddaughter enjoys them. Afternoon Tea is a real treat, isn't it? I particularly like the miniature macaron, but chef's new lemon posset is fantastic too... We hope you'll book again very soon! Rachel
Lovely steak and ale pies for all 4 of us. Beer to go with them too, what could be better! A lovely sunny cold day with the sun shining thru your barn windows, a beautiful ambience. Keep up the good work and we will keep eating 😁.
Many thanks for your lovely review, Chris. The beef and ale pie is chef's latest 'signature dish' and proving very popular, particularly with the locally brewed Rebellion Ale! It's really great to hear such kind words - we'll keep on cooking, just make sure you keep coming back for more! We hope to welcome you back again very soon.
A very pleasant afternoon out, quiet and open building with attentive staff
Many thanks for the lovely review and recommendation, Steve. Come back again soon!
My first visit and I loved it. Beautiful views from the Restaurant. Had the Hake and chips, good portion size and worth the money. Excellent service.
Shop was attractive but could have done with some more stock.
Dear Jane Many thanks for the lovely review - we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your first visit to The Grange restaurant and hope to welcome you back again soon. Meanwhile, our Gift Shop staff are working to source and order some gorgeous new gift items to restock and replace our Christmas range. Kindest regards, Rachel
Great food friendly service, we love going there always take friends there as you new it will be good.
Dear Pru Many thanks for your lovely review and kind recommendation. We're delighted that you keep coming back for more and introduce your friends to The Grange too, and I'm glad we keep matching your expectations each time you visit. We very much look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange
Wonderful food, whether it's a Full English Breakfast or a Sunday roast as was the case for this visit. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Most are volunteers and do a wonderful job. Very dog friendly with a lovely shop.
Dear Phillip Thank you so much for your kind review and recommendation. We're so pleased you enjoyed your meal at The Grange Restaurant and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange
I've been here several times as it is a lovely place and hard to believe that all staff other than the kitchen are volunteers! They do a marvelous job and the cafe is great for kids and dogs too and has been specially designed to be quiet and serene with sound deadening clouds hanging from the ceiling in the beautiful building it is situated in. Portions are huge so go hungry!
Thank you Aileen! What a lovely review and recommendation. You're quite right, our front of house staff are mostly volunteers who generously give up their time for the charity - and yes, they all do a marvellous job! We are hearing-friendly, dog-friendly and children-friendly too - it's kind of you to spread the word and I do hope we will be welcoming you back again soon. Kind regards, Rachel, on behalf of the team
Great breakfast choices from full English to Avocado +++. Went for lunch but too early so filled up on a great breakfast.
I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed your unexpected brunch at The Grange Restaurant! As you'll now know, we serve breakfast from 9-12pm, lunch from 12-2pm (or 3pm on a Sunday) and Afternoon Tea from 2-3.45pm, closing at 4pm each day. I hope you'll be back again soon to try our delicious lunch menu, or perhaps treat yourself to a Classic, Sparkling or G&T Afternoon Tea! Many thanks for taking the time to review and recommend us. Kindest regards Rachel
Unfortunately, as much as i used to love the Grange i really feel it has gone down hill. the prices have gone up, but the portions shrunk significantly. Although the food was fine, i left feeling ripped off. I had the waffles with yogurt fruit and nuts, which has halved in size for a pound more. My sister ont he other hand had avocado on toast with extra feta option on gluten free toast. This was £7.75 for the original and an extra £2.50 for Feta.... it arrived, and was one slice of shop bought gluten free bread with a bit of avocado, one poached egg and a tiny sprinkling of feta. For over £10 we actually laughed at the portion. It all tasted fine, but unfortunately this time they have lost a customer in us. A real shame as the concept, ambiance , venue etc is really great. But the prices dont seem to stack up anymore.
I'm so sorry to read your review, which I have shared with the team. We want every customer to enjoy their experience at The Grange, and it's upsetting to hear an unhappy review. We adjusted prices and portion sizes slightly in 2018 to reduce the waste on plates and also ensure we covered our costs. Chef is looking into what happened during your visit, as it's not a complaint that we have had before, and I will be in touch separately to make amends. Thank you for taking time to feed back to us.
We booked for lunch, when returning some Christmas cards from our Cards for Goods Causes shop. Was very pleasantly surprised by this no frills restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful finding us a table away from the sun streaming in the windows into my friends eyes. Food was well cooked and tasty - if I had any criticism it was that there could have been more gravy to mop up the mashed potatoes with. But the meal was substantial so we had no room for any pudding.
Many thanks for your kind review and recommendation. I'm so pleased you both enjoyed your lunch - do please tell our front of house volunteers if you have any comments about your meal and the chef would be very happy to help, for example with more gravy. What a shame that you had no room for puddings - the almond, date and chocolate bread & butter pudding is simply heavenly! Balancing meal sizes between generosity and avoiding waste is quite a challenge, so do please come back again soon!
Lovely friendly atmosphere, staff helpful friendly great.
Dear Pru Thanks so much for your lovely feedback and kind recommendation. We hope to welcome you back to The Grange Restaurant again very soon. kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange
Beautiful setting, good food, friendly staff and very relaxing atmosphere & I can bring in my pet dog 🐕 Loved it!
Dear Isabelle Many thanks for sharing your kind review and recommendation - we are delighted you and your dog loved it at The Grange Restaurant. Do come and visit us again soon! Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange
Nice location and ambience. Service was a bit slow even tho the place was only half full. Staff chatting behind counter when tables needed ckearing. Food could have been warmer - fishcakes were lacking fish and not well seasoned.
Shop was lovely and staff really helpful.
Dear Julie Many thanks for taking the time to feedback on your visit to The Grange Restaurant. Please accept my sincerest apologies that your experience wasn't at the high standard that we have set ourselves. Rest assured, I will raise your concerns about the service and the fishcakes with the team to find out what happened and to ensure that we maintain the best customer experience in the future. I hope we can make amends should you choose to return another time. Kind regards, Rachel
Always a warm welcome at The Grange, we visit quite often sometimes with our three Miniature Schnauzers. They dogs always get a lovely fuss and some biscuits.
I absolutely love the gluten free carrot cake and the coffee is delicious!

Very good as always even though it was their Xmas market day. You have to book on an open day.
Lovely to see the dogs in training being socialised.
Keep up the good work.
Many thanks for your kind review - it was a very busy day, wasn't it? I'm so glad you enjoyed your Sunday Lunch, with the buzz Christmas Market taking place across the Hearing Dogs training site. Just for clarity, our 'behind the scenes' tours are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while the restaurant is open all week from 9am-4pm. And yes, you do have to book for the tours which do fill up quickly! We hope to see you again very soon, Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange

No hot food after 2pm? Booked an early but should stayed the same time for any numbers of people! I
Dear Jane, Many thanks for taking the time to review The Grange, and for your recommendation. We are a small restaurant which serves food from 9am to 4pm each day, with hot breakfasts available until midday, and lunch available until 2pm (or 3pm on Sundays). After that time, we offer hot drinks, cakes and pastries, as well as our delicious range of Afternoon Teas. You can find our opening hours and meal timings on our website. Kindest regards Rachel, on behalf of the team
As usual the restaurant was an enjoyable place to bring my visitors, as I always do. They all impressed with the ambiance and seeing dogs around and also we were able to stay to have coffee and cake while talking well into the afternoon after finishing our lovely meals which were all of a high standard. The service was very good and the staff dealt with a slight change in numbers re my booking smoothly and efficiently. I had booked for 5 and updated this online and also telephoned to update to 6 but this information had not been passed on. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff on the day. One visitor remarked on the excellent selection of drinks available. Must try the breakfast one day
Dear Carol Thank you so much for your kind review and recommendation. I'm sorry to hear that your booking change wasn't communicated, possibly due to it being a very busy time for us with our Christmas Market weekend looming - but I'm delighted that you enjoyed your lunch, and it all went smoothly with helpful staff and volunteers. Do come back again soon to try our breakfast menu - I promise, you won't regret it! Kind regards Rachel, on behalf of the team at The Grange
