The food was lovely and we knew it would be, having eaten there before. However, the service was appalling. The waiters were unfriendly and abrupt. They were dropping meals on tables as if in a Formula One race!! No one greeted us with a welcome smile or a Happy Christmas !! No one asked, at any stage, how any part of our meal was! I was waiting 10 mins for bread.
More importantly, the only hand sanitiser on the wall downstairs at the toilets, was broken. The tables were too close together and while all restaurants were due to be closed at 3pm, they were still welcoming new guests at 3pm when we were leaving. Not following COVID restrictions is just not acceptable and unfair to those who are doing so !!
Excellent food and service. The Green Hen is a favourite of mine and never disappoints.
Booked a table in the Green Hen to meet up with family to celebrate Christmas as hadn’t seen them for months. It was our first visit to the Green Hen and despite all the current restrictions and safety measures it didn’t disappoint. Or arrivals we were welcomed with a warm greeting and shown to our table. The Christmas menu was good value and had good choices. We had the duck Parfait and haddock fish cakes both of which were delicious. For main the duck leg literally fell of the bone was seriously good. The staff and service was warm friendly and attentive, we would definitely return to the restaurant. Thank you team Green Hen best of luck over the coming weeks and hopefully we can return in the not too distant future.
The Green Hen was by far one of best dining experiences in Dublin I have had to date. The atmosphere was fantastic, the food was second to none and the staff were the cherry on top. Jenny, in particular made us feel very welcome and was such a wonderful host. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend! Very central location and reasonably priced.
Beautiful cosy chic restaurant, would highly recommend
This was my first visit to this restaurant and I was very impressed. Its a nice, well located restaurant with surprisingly good food and friendly service. We had a nice table at the back well spread out from other diners and really enjoyed the meal. I will most defiantly be back to this restaurant.
Brilliant, would recommend anyone to go. Food was very nice!
Gem of a restaurant. Everything I could have hoped for and more from with a beautiful dinner to tasty cocktails in bespoke surroundings. Most of all the staff were so nice - Jennifer who greeted us to the waiter upstairs and the barman who made us cocktails. Each was so friendly. 20/10 experience for a young couple.
One of our favourite restaurants in Dublin, so great to be back. Superb service and food as usual
I have eaten is this restaurant several times over the years and my wife is a big fan . On Saturday night we where asked to wait at the door to be seated along with 8 other people . We nearly fell over wooden logs and bottles of gas which were stored at the main entrance.
When we where seated up stairs the tables where that close together I could not sit down . The couple beside us complained that the tables where to close together, no open windows and no proper ventilation so they left . My wife who is pregnant and a vegetarian asked was it possible to have alteration to the Christmas menu and was told no and that she should of rang ahead to inform them . We left straight away as there was no understand from staff that we where required to pay the set menu fee for just a main course .
Tables were not adequately spaced, very close to other parties. Have eaten in other restaurants where I felt Covid guidelines were adhered to. Toilets were not of great standard. Toilet seat in one cubicle was on the floor. Food was pricey and not good value. Chips were soggy, cheeseboard was very average and consisted mainly of crackers. Used to be one of our favourite restaurants but won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend.
Great service , very accommodating, perfect Christmas atmosphere.
Ribeye steak full of grizzle should not have been served
Ratio of Brioche to Parfait was wrong
Upstairs toilet needs a deep clean and very shabby not shabby chic in any form
Candles burning in toilet open flame at knee high level no candle holders I thought that this was very dangerous
Wine and the Christmas Ambiance good.
Concerned about social distancing
Really enjoyed our visit, great food, great value.
Delicious food and cocktails. Flawless service and adherence to covid precautions.
Favourite Restaurant in Dublin. Went 2pm Saturday & was recognised & service, food & wine was excellent. Recommend the Alsace Riesling. With Covid now a consideration was reassured by high ceiling, separate tables & overall professionalism of the staff. Looking forward to next visit in 2021.
What a great lunch had in the green hen on Saturday, staff particularly the manager Jennifer was great. Thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it. The food / drinks were delicious and great value
We were seated on the upper floor which suited us as we are an older couple. There were not many people in the area so we had plenty of space. There add music at a level that suited us. The staff were very friendly and the service and the food was very good. As we were leaving, and passing through the ground floor, there was a good Christmas party atmosphere. There was quite a number of people at the bar and the music was above the level we would have been comfortable with.
I felt so sick during the meal and after, I couldn't go back again. I really hope it wasn't something I ate
Fond of the Green Hen but aspects of the food were a bit disappointing in this visit, starters and desserts rather mediocre compared to prevous experiences. The main was very good. Set menus at €55 a head need to deliver.
We had an excellent meal in a lovely atmosphere. The staff were attentive and very nice. The serice was overall excellent. Many thanks
Lovely to finally be out. Great service & staff were fabulous making our special Xmas birthday lunch an occasion by giving us a glass of bubbly on the house on our arrival. The food was disappointing- brown bread with smoked salmon tasted stale & confit of duck was very dried out. That said the ambiance was lovely & the place itself is very nice.
The ambiance was great and even the food was nice but it didn’t live up to the price tag. We went for the Xmas menu at €55 and it wasn’t really worth the money. Might go back for the bar menu but definitely won’t be spending that much there when you could pay that much for better food elsewhere.
We ha me a lovely lunch, not too crowded and attentive staff.
Excellent food and service. Very enjoyable lunch. Highly recommend
Hi, I’ve had better evenings at the Green Hen. I was disappointed on Sat.We felt rushed from the minute we sat down. The waiters were waiting in anticipation to take our plates after each course. My friend said her knife barely reached the plate when the plate was moved away. We would have stayed for desert more wine but moved else where because of this . As for the food. The steak was thin and a bit tough. The salmon starter was tiny. Very expensive for what we got.
Staff are great, food is lovely and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere
Outstanding service, fantastic food and a wonderfully festive atmosphere. A perfect lunch!
We had such a great evening in the Green Hen on Saturday. Best food I’ve had in Dublin in a while and the staff were really attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere and drinks choice too. Fancy without being stuffy.
Worst value meal I have had in years.
The french waitor was outstanding. Brilliant. Made us feel so welcome and nothing a problem
Lovely atmosphere and setting. Food was excellent. No veggie starter option which was disappointing but the cauliflower veggie main was amazing! Meat eating boyfriend loved both of his dishes. Service was very quick and very friendly.
We were rushed around very rudely. The food was awful, it was clearly a case of getting as much money out of us before getting us out and the next lot in. I appreciate it has been tough for restaurants o er the last 9 months but I expect a to more from The Green Hen which used to be a favourite of mine. Really disappointed
This was hands down one of the best dining experiences of my life. The restaurant boasts such unique qualities & personal flavor that you would struggle to find elsewhere. Incredible setting, staff, and food.
Great food. Super atmospheric restaurant. Hard working staff despite busy Christmas rush. Compliments to Jenny who really wowed us with her multitasking professionalism!
Fantastic food and service. Always a great place for some really good French food. Superb every time we go.
Love this restaurant, the food, the staff and the venue are all super. Would highly recommend it, to others, as I’ll be returning on a regular basis.
Perfect spot for a friend or family catch up. Staff and service was top notch and food and drinks were delish. My first time and not my last.
Great food in a lovely safe ambience. Would highly recommend
