Taking hospitality back to its roots with a warm welcome from our genuinely friendly team breathing new life back into the heart of the community.
The menu will offer daily, hyper-seasonal specials, and plenty of British game, meat and fish. Executive chef and owner, Jamie Dobbin is passionate about local sourcing and traditional dishes, such as Half dozen Porthilly rock oysters with shallot dressing, Brixham King scallops with burnt butter cauliflower and caviar or Portland hogget Shepherd’s pie with grilled cutlet.
Serious meat lovers can expect 45 day aged native and rare breed steak on offer as well as a hero dish of Beef Wellington for two. Fish is of course wild, sustainable, and British, sourced from day boats on the South coast with the daily catch delivered straight to the door in a matter of hours. There is a handsome bar menu too, and as always, Sunday roasts are a big fixture on the menu every week.

We had a delicious mid week lunch at the Greyhound, with a good choice of dishes and great service. The food was of a very high standard and very good value. The portion sizes were just right and we only paid £23 each (for 2 courses). There was a lovely, relaxed and quiet ambience, which is a plus as my mum has difficulty hearing. Everything was very clean and the decor was beautiful. I hope to return there soon!

First visit to The Greyhound after many visits to the Greene Oak in Windson - another Brucan Pub. Very impressed by The Greyhound and will definitely be back. The fish dishes on the specials menu suited several members of our party very well.

One of the best Roast dinners I have had in a pub. Lots of vegetables , good variety and the roast potatoes were crispy rather than soft! We will definitely go back again

This was our first visit to The Greyhound. It was extremely noisy. I suppose it was to be expected for a Sunday lunch time. The roast beef was very fatty and a bit chewy. Once all the fat was cut off there was hardly any meat. The vegetables were plentiful and a good selection. The venue is very attractive and we would possibly return on a week day lunch time.

Have been before but this was a last minute booking. Sunday lunch + had the roast beef. It was just beautiful - cooked just how I personally like it - medium rare. I’ve never had horseradish quite like this. It almost felt as though it had been whipped - it was really nice. We hadn’t booked the festive menu but as we were there we looked at it. We don’t have availability to go this year but we’ve decided we are going to book for next year - really nice looking menu and reasonably priced.

We like this place and was a last minute reservation. Firstly, I forgot my glasses, but the waiter kindly lent me his, so that was a result! Thank you. General noise levels initially..... My starter was superb as always, Steak Tatare. Partner did not order one, she does not eat as much as I! Mains, Partner had the fish, I had a sirloin steak. Thing to note, Steak was warmish and Bearnaise sauce was cold, I think they had let it sit for too long before serving. Tripled cooked chips were spot on. However, this was made up by the superb dessert I had, custard something with steeped cherries, and cherry ice cream. I love my desserts!

A busy Saturday evening, prebooked. Of the 6 diners, 3 had good meals, 1 adequate and 2 very poor. Of the poor meals 1 had ordered hot starter and main and they were both cold. The cold main was replaced when commented upon. The other poor meal was an overcooked and tasteless risotto. An alternative was offered but these always arrive after others have finished so I refused. The cost of both poor meals was removed from the bill. The portions of starters, chicken and fish and chips were small, particularly for the prices. Staff were trying their best but it was a disappointment.

A lovely meal at the Greyhound. Tasty vegetarian choices, well executed. Nice cocktail many and wine list too. Service was very good - my only criticism would be that I felt a bit rushed when paying the bill - we were asked 3 times if we’d like to pay and it felt like we were being rushed out. The restaurant was still reasonably full and it was only about 9.45pm so I’m not sure why this was. Apart from that though I’d definitely recommend a visit - the food is a cut above your normal pub grub and the ambience made for a very lovely evening. We will be back 😁

Staff very friendly and helpful. The three courses from the lunch menu were beautifully cooked. The restaurant itself felt a little cool as we were by the window. The service was also quite slow although not sure why as it was not busy although we had arrived about 20 minutes early for our booking. They did apologise for the delay in our starters arriving and did not charge us for the desserts. The chocolate delice and caramel ice-cream was amazing.

Living locally, and having passed The Greyhound on many occasions, this was my first visit to this establishment. The service on arrival was friendly and courteous and our meals arrived without undue delay. My friend and I thought that the choice and quality of the food was first class and I was particularly impressed by the wine choice which featured a number of excellent English wines. Another attraction of this establishment is that it remains open throughout the afternoon.

Fantastic Sunday roast at the Greyhound. Great choices for those with allergies and considerable care was taken to meet these needs. All our meals were beautifully presented and were delicious. The artichoke risotto was the best surprise. We all look forward to our return.
