The menu will offer daily, hyper-seasonal specials, and plenty of British game, meat and fish. Executive chef and owner, Jamie Dobbin is passionate about local sourcing and traditional dishes, such as Half dozen Porthilly rock oysters with shallot dressing, Brixham King scallops with burnt butter cauliflower and caviar or Portland hogget Shepherd’s pie with grilled cutlet.
Serious meat lovers can expect 45 day aged native and rare breed steak on offer as well as a hero dish of Beef Wellington for two. Fish is of course wild, sustainable, and British, sourced from day boats on the South coast with the daily catch delivered straight to the door in a matter of hours. There is a handsome bar menu too, and as always, Sunday roasts are a big fixture on the menu every week.
Take back your lunch break!£18.00 per person
Sep 27 - Nov 29, 2021Make the most of your lunch break from work or catch up with friends and family with our two (£18) or three (£21) course set menu, available Monday - Friday 12pm - 3.30pm. With a wide range of starters, mains and puddings to choose from you won't be disappointed.
A different menu offering a varied choice. The service was attentive but not fussy. Plenty of opportunity to relax between courses with a pleasant ambience.
New owners, great marketing words. Fell way short of expectations.
Sunday lunch was cold, Yorkshire pudding was tough and not freshly made. Instead of fresh pipping hot vegetables, we had luke warm over cooked green and 4 slices of carrot!
Roast potatoes were crisp but again, chewy. Beef was OK, although thick lump of fat along one side.
"Whipped" Horseradish was tasteless.
Sticky toffee pudding was way too sweet and portion size was smaller than average. Very mixed quality of waiters, from professional to kids with love bites on their neck! Car parking spaces had tables and chairs on them, losing 3-4 spaces for guests to use. So had to park 5 minute walk away.
Fantastic food and an inventive menu. Staff were friendly and very responsive.
Welcomed us with dog treats. Table in good position adding to the comfort of our meal. Menu very good with something for every taste. Food excellent and service friendly and welcoming. We will be going again.
Wonderful wonderful wonderful- this was our second visit and it certainly won’t be our last. Everything about this pace is just perfect- outstanding food at sensible prices, discreet yet attentive service and a beautiful venue. My only complaint- you need to be organised to get a table- it’s certainly popular!
Lovely meal with fabulous service
If I could give six starts for service I would. Brilliant service and mouthwatering food. All ready booked to come back twice more!
A great family meal. Service and food really good. Refurbishment is lovely.
Will certainly recommend and return.
Friendly engaging staff, interesting menu making it difficult to choose. Went for lunch, had the £21 three course set menu. Excellent scallops and fresh fish, burger also good. Planning to go again soon.
Ate Weds lunchtime. Lovely place, great service - staff were all super helpful and friendly - food was very very good indeed. Would highly recommend.
Went to the Greyhound on a Tuesday evening, a good atmosphere for dinner.
The menu is fantastic, so many unique choices it was really hard to choose which means I will be going back to try other dishes.
Lovely cocktails and wine menu, our waiter was very friendly and helpful when it came to the menu.
Lovely pub, recently refurbished. Menu refreshingly different but not weird or pretentious. All the food was of fantastic quality. Service was good but we waited too long between courses. Value for money outstanding considering the quality of the food.
Very pleasant surprise for a Tuesday Birthday lunch date. Very well populated despite almost all road roads to the Greyhound being blocked. FOod and service was excellent - will definitely do again.
Amazing food great service really recommend. Would go again
We had a delicious birthday lunch here. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food was absolutely fantastic, more restaurant quality than pub grub. We will definitely be back!
Fantastic choice of lunchtime menu at great price. Top quality food at very reasonable price for what you get. Good service in tasteful surroundings. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.
Amazing quality food, very special evening. Great ambience and helpful waiting staff.
Excellent food and great service. Will certainly be coming back!
Really love food & service! Food came a little too quickly but was delicious!
The best Sunday lunch I've had in ages! Pricey but well worth it. A good plateful of perfectly cooked roast beef & potatoes, accompanied by three vegetable dishes, gravy and creamed horseradish. The staff were welcoming, friendly, attentive & responsive to our requests. Good luck finishing the Black Forest sundae!
A lovely meal with friends. Great food and atmosphere
Good food, we particularly enjoyed the beef wellington and it was a good sized portion. Whilst the service was attentive, it lacked warmth. We didn't find it a particularly friendly place to dine, very few words from the waitress serving us.
Excellent food and service. One of the best meals we’ve had for years.
Lovely atmosphere & choice of food. Attentive staff, good value for moneu
So happy to see the Greyhound was reopening and with new chefs bring a special local twist. Welcome was friendly; starter was sublime (soup) and hubby raved over steak tartare. Chicken was very good and mussels were delicious. Those triple cooked chips were fabulous. Save room for dessert- plum and pear crumble was brilliant. Wonderful meal, friendly service and great ambience. We will definitely be back
Service was superb and food was outstanding. Lucky to have on our door step
Lots of meal options; delicious food and so well presented; just right portions. Super friendly and personal service by all staff from being greeted at the door to leaving. not intrusive service but the staff checked in to see that we were ok and then kept us up to date on the food progress. On the high end of the price scale for a regular visit unfortunately for our family - more of a special occasion. However absolutely recommend The Greyhound to friends and have already done so!
Had a lovely meal and we were looked after very well, not intrusive but attentive to our needs and everyone was very pleasant. The food was well presented and tasted lovely. We will be back!
Lovely lunch with my daughter. Nice to try a different menu, all very tasty!
An interesting menus, and the food that we chose was excellent. The ambiance was first rate and we plan to return.
The food was delicious, very generous portions and service was excellent.!
A fantastic meal, will definitely go back again soon!
Arrived for lunch and immediately the staff were very attentive.
The menu was appealing and what we ordered was delicious.
Could not and would not fault our lunch experience.
Thank you - we will be back
We had the best 3 course meal at The Greyhound. The food was amazing and beautifully presented with good portion sizes. The decor was classy and warm and the service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended
Great pub and lovely staff, starters a bit to ‘flash’ no classics like prawn cocktail, duck pate, sardines etc. Mains good but again selection quite limited.
Glad to see The Greyhound back.
Excellent 2nd visit with friends who vowed they would be back too.
Can’t wait to visit again.
Lovely food, and staff were so polite and helpful. Really enjoyed our lunch!
This was our second visit in a month. The food is excellent. And a good wine selection too. The staff are so welcoming. Without doubt, this is a proper dining experience. Highly recommend a visit. We will return soon
A good selection on the menu. I’m a vegetarian and there were a few good choices which was great.
Excellent service and top food. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. A peaceful setting with some fantastic garden pods to provide comfort and a great sense of privacy. Loved it.
