Lovely food and great service interesting menu not run of the mill pub menu
We had a meal for my birthday scallops to start were fantastic 3 would have been great i had chicken for main great , hubby had ribeye not so great so didn’t charge us for the steak puds were great rice pudding with raisin and cardamon ice cream. We enjoyed so much going back for Valentines.
This hotel and restaurant is a real find. The interior is quirky and welcoming and both the food and staff lovely. We stopped by for an early evening meal after a walk in Matlock. The welcome was warm as was the interior on this chilly day. We took some seats close to the fire and enjoyed a few, well-presented, drinks whilst we waited for the restaurant to open at six ( though pizzas are available all afternoon. We were made very welcome and enjoyed lovely food from the unusual and varied selection on the menu. Special mention to the game pie - made with suet pastry which really hit the spot. Another special thing we noticed was the more unusual choice offered for the veggies - which makes a nice change. Would thoroughly recommend this place
Visited for Sunday lunch and the menu choice was excellent. We chose roast beef and the roast turkey which came with lovely choice of veg. The wine list is varied and good value.
Worth a drive out and we would visit again.
The greyhound hotel serves delicious food the goats cheese and beetroot tart, and the corn fed chicken was divine ; excellent service; staff very attentive, they source fresh local produce, my first time for a visit highly recommended. I hear the freshly made pizzas made in the pizza oven are well worth a visit for also. I will definitely be calling again. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for any occasion. Superb !
We eat here on New Years Eve evening and the meal was outstanding. Compliments to the chef and the staff who served us. Amazing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Greyhound, the food was delicious and a real treat. We will definitely be back.
Service was excellent, staff were all friendly and helpful.
Surroundings and room were beautiful and clean.
Food was lovely and well worth the money.
Would definitely recommend
Excellent venue, really pleasant and helpful staff and great food - all in all a fantastic venue
Staff made you feel welcome gave us plenty time to choice our option with the menu . Meal was great and we Sat talking after for at least an hour and felt we didn't need to rush off .
Apart from the noise level ( wooden floors and no soft furnishings to absorb it) I loved it. A real find. Great food and lovely service in a cosy ambience
We went to the Greyhound for the first time for Sunday lunch (6 adults & a baby). The staff were really friendly and did not seem to mind at all that 2 of the party were half an hour late! The baby was quickly provided with a high chair. The service was spot on and we all enjoyed the food. One member of the party was a vegan and was catered for without fuss, although as is usually the case, she had no choice of dishes.
Parking was in short supply and some members of our party had to park elsewhere.
We shall definitely return.
Great value for money Excellent standard of food Friendly and quick service
All in all a great experience
Very good friendly atmosphere as soon as we walked in from all the staff. Shown to a table and left with menus. Return after 5 minutes for order. Sunday lunch arrived after 15 minutes with tureen of vegetables and gravy jug. Meal was very good, my husband would have liked it a bit hotter.
Overall a great Sunday lunch/afternoon.
Friendly and efficient service.
When the food came, it was hot tasty.
Great Sunday lunch for a family celebration, good children's menu options, very good wine menu and options to buy by the glass, plus good beers, totally recommend!
It has become quite expensive of late and the portion sizes have diminished quite considerably you simply have to order extras to make up a decent meal, limited menu.
Thank you for your comments, we take our reviews seriously either face to face on the day or online, preferring to talk to our guests on the visit. We would like to reassure you that our menu prices have not increased overall and portion sizes remain in line with cost of ingredients and selling price. Our general feedback is very good so would like to know what dishes you were served in order to investigate. Thank you again
Previously been with friends and enjoyed it however very disappointed with my recent visit to celebrate my sisters birthday.
Taken to our table but I then had to go to the bar for drinks and to ask for menus as the waiting staff congregated around the bar.
I had to keep asking the staff for more wine glasses as three of ours were visibly dirty, more drink and to clear the table.
We asked for butter which was brought to the table in a dirty pot which we had to send back.
I asked to speak to a manager who appeared to struggle with dealing with a customer giving constructive feedback as it appeared to go over his head. I did point out that I felt it was better for me to raise my issues with him than though social media however he appeared most perplexed by the conversation!
The main issue I had was that my sister ordered a fish main , sea bream I think however when the food arrived she was given a risotto made from a smoked fish. When she told the waiter she had not ordered the dish he said he was aware of that however they had run out of her choice and instead of asking her what she'd like as an alternative they decided for her!
When it came to the bill they had charged us for all meals however as they totally messed up my sisters meal and birthday celebrations I was not prepared to pay for her meal.
We take our reviews very seriously and thought we had resolved this in person with you on the day. We apologised, we didn't charge you for your sisters meal and the wine she had. Our recall of your visit is slighltly different to your comments, but we would like to close the issue. You had said that the food was very good and that we had messed up on some service issues, also that this would not stop you from visiting again.
Booked for a meal before a wedding. We were late and had a timescale which the Greyhound easily met. The service was friendly and efficient. My husband and son both had the pie which they both loved!!
Great food, simply served by friendly, welcoming staff. Food cooked excellently with obvious care and attention snd plated unpretentiously. Choice of local beers also well worth a try. Genuinely a lovely experience which could not be faulted. Also impressed with the extra care made for the Coeliac member of our group. Thank you for a lovely night out.
Have visited twice recently. Both food and service excellent each time. Live locally will definitely return and have recommended to friends
Fantastic food choice and quality, lovely place with nice ambiance
Excellent meal, friendly staff and nice surroundings.
Really pleased with the service and the food if we lived in the area I would make this restaurant on a regular basis.
Lunch area is sparse and utilitarian but effective. Service was quick and pleasant. Food was basic, well presented with good portions. Would return.
Friendly welcome, and good service. Interesting and varied menu, food was well cooked and attractively presented, wine list good too.
Fabulous Sunday lunch. Amazing Yorkshire puddings, flavoured veg, tender meat, brilliant gravy! Sticky toffee pudding to die for! Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service. Would thoroughly recommend the Greyhound for a meal with good sized portions.
We booked a table for 4 for Sunday Lunch on a recommendation and were not disappointed. Great food, well presented, and good service. We had a variety of starters, all perfectly ok, but the main event in the form of the beef and chicken roast dinners were excellent. Easy to recommend the Greyhound.
We went for dinner at the greyhound with some friends. We were a party of 7 with our dog. We were warmly welcomed and seated at a lovely table. The decor of the restaurant was lovely and everything was very clean. The food was amazing - I’ve never see such big and succulent burgers and the vegetarian choice was delicious too! The staff were so friendly and we loved the fact it was dog friendly- our dog is part of the family and it’s so nice to be able to bring them with us. Our only other comment is that the price of a gin and tonic was quite steep. Other than that everything was great!
We had a great meal with good service and thought it was great value for money
I was very pleasantly surprised at the combination of excellent service and excellent food, in contrast to my experience of dining here during the last two management regimes.
It is very good to know that The Greyhound now provides a level of hospitality commensurate with the World Heritage Site within which it sits. I have put a glowing review on Trip Advisor
Lovely place to sit and eat but not much vegetarian choice. Would go again
Reasonable food at a fair price but nothing special.
Very present Sunday roast, would certainly go back and will also recommend it.
Went for sunday lunch following a recommendation from the 2 people i was with. They had roast beef, i had roast pork. The amount of beef was much smaller than previously but the quality was good. The pork was not roast pork but 3 small thin dry grilled rashers of pork. The veg was good however. I didn't complain about the pork so as not to spoil the occasion, but will not be returning.
Service very slow took an hour and a half to get our main course
This was a last minute find and what a find! The staff were immediately friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was absolutely delicious - especially the gradvillax and the goats cheese roulade - and the cheese board was to die for! The decor was tasteful and relaxing and the outside courtyard with views of Cromford and the surrounding cliffs and hills was delightful on a hot summer evening. Even the ale was excellent! 5 stars
Booked table for 6pm and ordered promptly. Food arrived around an hour and a half later. Food was fairly good quality though portions are on the mean side for a fairly expensive pub dinner.
Curious to visit following its refurbishment, we visited the Greyhound after a long day's walking in the area. We were not disappointed! The staff are welcoming and attentive, the general ambience is good, the seating comfortable and the food was excellent. Not the most comprehensive menu, but each dish was flavoursome and very well prepared. Service was prompt and professional without being intrusive. We have tried almost all the restaurants in Cromford and this one stands out as the best. Overall, a highly successful and memorable visit that we will repeat and will recommend to friends without reservation.
