The Harrow at Little Bedwyn
Produce is sourced from "real' farmers, fish are line caught and from day boats only and live shellfish arrive daily. The emphasis is on clean and intense flavours allowing the main ingredient to shine, showcased in a series of Tasting Menus.
The 900 bin wine list, holder of the World's Best Wine List top award, has been lovingly compiled by the owners, Sue and Roger, over the last 20 years and focuses largely on the New World with some impressive vertical listings. Particular attention is given to various styles of wine flights matched to each menu.
Customers' comfort, enjoyment and relaxation are all important to the small team of staff who offer the very best in efficient but informal service, allowing guests to enjoy every aspect of their experience.
Saturday: 12pm - 1:45pm and 6:30pm - 9pm
A first class restaurant. Attentive service, fine wines and wonderful food. We will certainly return.
Wonderful food you could not possibly cook at home, perfect matching wines, excellent service. A memorable experience.
Absolutely outstanding food and completely worth its Michelin star. The £40 lunch menu was excellent value and every mouthful was gorgeous. Unequivocally recommend
Beautiful decor, fine food, amazing wines and heartfelt service. The Harrow offers a fine dining experience is a lovely rural setting.
Fantastic food, with lovely matched wines, highly recommended
One of our best meals for a long time. Everything was spot on:
- Warm welcome by engaging staff especially Sue Rogers.
- Fantastic menu; I have 'gone off' tasting menus latterly but this was a gem.
- The wine list, no THE wine list.. a stunning piece of work reflecting a lifetime of collecting and sharing wines with some real delights at a fair mark up.
- Service was just perfect..
- The glasses, yes they make such a difference.
I would highly recommend the food and service at the Harrow. I went for the 6 course tasting menu which every course was excellent. There was an extravagant wine list from which to choose and the service was also first class. If I was going to point out any faults it would be lack of a car park so you need to park on the road, this was not a problem as I got there early but could imagine when busy you might have a bit of a walk. Also on the Wednesday night the atmosphere was quite quiet but I assume that was just that particular night. The staff were certainly friendly and explained every dish in detail. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area.
Fantastic couldn't fault it. Would happily go again
Impressive food and service in a pleasant low-key location
Memorably fabulous food, beautifully presented: all 3 of us thought it was an absolutely delicious dinner
Never lets us down...a firm favourite for over 10 years and it still feels special every time. The team made a huge effort to impress with non alcoholic drinks to match the food, we took notes and will be buying some of the options to enjoy at home.
Excellent as usual .
Though on this occasion I was the designated driver , so had to miss out on the wines 😢
We used to go to The Harrow quite often, but due to circumstances (not due to a disappointing experience) this was our first visit this year.
It was worth the wait. The food, was exceptional, and the wine pairings worked beautifully. Very good and efficient service too, and the chef dealt with our table’s dietary requirements (1 lactose free, 1 pescatarian and 1 nut allergy) brilliantly. We’ve already booked our next visit!
The courses in the taster menu provide great conversation pieces ... as well as great tasting
Superb, sublime, special. Start to finish, utter quality. One of the UK’s very best. Thank you Sue, Roger & Team.
My second visit and it didn’t disappoint. Absolutely wonderful food paired with exquisite wine
Delicious Quite Meal in the Countryside:
This was a very good meal served with a smile and easy efficiency, we ordered the 8 course Tasting Menu for two, and we were offered to alter any item from the list we are not keen on with another from the other available menus, which was a nice gesture. We preferred to order wine by the glass from the extensive list presented. The meal was unhurried and the food was both very tasty and beautifully presented. Just one note to mention that my main dish was beef and it was served "Rare" as is fashionable nowadays, unfortunately I forgot to ask for it to be served "Medium" as I normally like it.
This was a lovely meal in a classic restaurant environment.
The restaurant is a fine dining jewel. The greeting on arrival was warm and friendly. Staff were highly attentive, knowledgeable and inobtrusive. The eight course taster menu was particularly inviting and proved to be outstanding. Each course was elegant, creative, tasteful and beautifully presented. The different selections were well balanced, beautifully cooked and a delight to eat. The wine list was comprehensive and reasonably priced. The service was timely, efficient and impressive. The restaurant is tucked away in the countryside between Hungerford and Marlborough yet easy to find. Parking in the narrow road outside the restaurant is somewhat challenging but nevertheless possible. The Michelin Star is a just reward for the overall excellence of the restaurant - this is a special place staffed by special people providing an ultra special dining experience. We were delighted to discover the Harrow and have recommended the venue to many of our friends without hesitation. Thank you to all concerned for a wonderful evening which we will long remember.
Food was excellent and a treat for a special occasion.
A solid 4, bordering on 4.5/5. Booked for a family birthday, went as two adult couples. Very reasonably priced for Michelin starred experience and felt informal/casual and relaxed. We sat down at 2pm for lunch with only two other tables seated, which didn't feel lonely or oppressive, just the right amount of company.
We had the five course lunch menu with wine pairing and optional cheese course. Would definitely recommend the wine pairing as we came away with a couple of firm favourites to try again. Options available for non-drinkers and non-wine fans.
The serving staff were attentive but not hovering in your face and seemed very knowledgeable about both the food and drinks that we were served.
The food itself was lovely - particularly enjoyed the turbot main. One of our party had a dietary requirement that was catered for very well. Only comment would be that in a 5 course tasting we didn't have a meat course and oriental spices where used in a couple of places, would perhaps have wanted a bit more variation, unless a theme was intended? However, used very well and personally did not miss the meat course, although another in our party did mention it!
Very nice selection of teas and coffees for after the meal.
Would recommend to friends and like to go again.
Incredible cuisine, the 8-course tasting menu was by far some of the best food I've ever tasted. The imagination behind the dishes and the flavours were simply amazing.
We went for our wedding anniversary. Travelled up from Devon and got delayed in traffic the restaurant could not have been more accommodating. We had a wonderful meal with great service.
Calm, relaxed atmosphere, attentive but unobtrusive service and absolutely superb food. Very comprehensive list of fine wines.
As a 'foodie', I have visited many of the so called best restaurants in the South East. I booked this for my daughter's birthday and lunch.
The food was excellent and some of the flavours created were fabulous. The wine choices was equal to any London restaurant. My one recommendation would be more of a 'welcoming' experience to the restaurant, to anyone who haven't been before.
The staff were very good, and even overheard that it was my daughter's birthday and they came out at the end with a special desert with a candle unexpectedly.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys nouveau cuisine with high quality ingredients.
This restaurant is outstanding. It is tucked away in a little town and a true find. The 6 course tasting menu was fabulous. We did the premium wine pairing as well. The wine pairings were excellent. A couple of the wines that I tried were just ok until you paired them with the course, then the character of of the wine came to light. They do not rush you through the meal but allow you to savor the courses and enjoy. We had a wonderful time and would recommend to anyone coming to the area.
A very pleasant and accomplished meal, but unremarkable. The chef achieved a lovely light summer lunch. However I would want stronger and more inspiring flavours before I would go beyond that this is a Michelin star restaurant and to impress unremarkable isn’t strong enough.
Everything was very pleasant.
Fabulous treat, testing menu was a really interesting cross section of foods. Wines different to normal range, a revelation regarding Greek wine.
My husband and I had a memorable dinner on Thursday. Each course was uniquely delicious without exception. We felt the lamb combination with the Indian flavours was especially outstanding. There was a mix-up on the bill and the staff thought that we had ordered the Premium wines which we hadn't. I think this might have been because we were served the Rose' from Greece by mistake which we only realised when we got home, when we were looking at the menu. The Rose was delicious by the way. The other wines were the Tasting wines and were correct. We will return to The Harrow and will anticipate another superb dinner.
A beautiful gem hidden in a quiet village street in the Wiltshire countryside. A calm, quiet ambience once inside. A huge, varied wine list to suit any palate with knowledgeable staff to advise you. Menu options all sounded amazing. We went for the vegetarian gourmet menu, but with the helpfulness of the staff, we could swap any ingredients in or out according to our diet/lifestyle, so it’s easily adapted to Vegan, Coeliac etc. We were told to allow three hours for the 8-courses and it was spot on. No rushing through the food and the table is yours for the night. Each food course was well thought out and presented and the attention to combination of flavours, was excellent. This was our first visit here and although it’s expensive, I would definitely return for a special occasion.
This was an amazing experience and perfect for a special occasion. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and the food was superb!
Absolutely fabulous! This was our 3rd trip to sample The Harrow’s 6 course tasting menu which didn’t disappoint! I’m still smiling as I think about it...... I definitely recommend the wine flight and also the cheese course. It’s good to share this if you’re feeling a bit full. My partner reckons the venison main was the best main course he’s ever had and he’s had a few!
As usual the service was superb and we’ll be back.
Another fabulous visit. If you are looking for outstanding local food you won't find better. The service was excellent as usual. We had the 6 course menu and the breadth of food was well received.
Never been to The Harrow before. Booked on reputation. What a little gem. I eat out in London often, frequently at Michelin stared restaurants. The Harrow was brilliant. Fantastic food. Really helpful service and a magnificent wine list. Loved every course of the 6 course tasting menu.
The food was excellent, my only concern was whether the Pinot Noir in the wine flight went with the Turbot. On the whole a first class meal
Parking is an issue here being on a country lane firstly & being told our parking is opp in the hedge ! Not where you want to be parking a nice car! However there was no where else so had no option , seeing there was only us & another couple dining that lunch time wasn’t as if it was busy with cars from diners!
Welcome was very professional & shown to table nicely presented ,
Lots of menu choice & prices .
Ambiance isn’t what we are used to in a Michelin establishment though although nicely & simply decorated felt very cold & music was more like a gastro pub we felt maybe if a little jazz was in the background would warm the ambiance .
Food was outstanding though amazing flavours & unusual ideas , the “boiled egg” was out of this world!!
For the price we paid for lunch on overall experience I have to say we’ve spent better in other Michelin restaurants sadly but it’s one off our bucket list
We love coming here as the flavours are so subtle. The pudding plate never disappoints.
There were some details we were not too happy with, but also some gems, like the "boiled egg with soldier" the main dessert was spoiled by far too salty caramel ice cream.
Not at all keen on the music.
Probably won't go again, definitely not "blown away"
Another absolutely brilliant meal. Great wine pairings and delicious food. Loved the Venison with the indian spices.
Amazing experience. Great food, service and atmosphere. Really enjoyed it. Will come again but I’ll need to save my pennies up!
We enjoyed a wonderful evening taking the 6 course taster menu with the associated wine flight. Great food, attentive service and lovely wines - so we could not ask for more.
