The Harrow at Little Bedwyn
Produce is sourced from "real' farmers, fish are line caught and from day boats only and live shellfish arrive daily. The emphasis is on clean and intense flavours allowing the main ingredient to shine, showcased in a series of Tasting Menus.
The 900 bin wine list, holder of the World's Best Wine List top award, has been lovingly compiled by the owners, Sue and Roger, over the last 20 years and focuses largely on the New World with some impressive vertical listings. Particular attention is given to various styles of wine flights matched to each menu.
Customers' comfort, enjoyment and relaxation are all important to the small team of staff who offer the very best in efficient but informal service, allowing guests to enjoy every aspect of their experience.
We visited the Harrow for their Good Friday seafood menu and once again it was a meal to remember. Food and service were up to the usual excellent standard and were complimented by bottles from my own cellar. Our friends who accompanied us enjoyed the meal so much they instantly made another booking for the date when some friends from the North come down to West Berkshire: I can't think of a better recommendation.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - ensure you get the REBEL Pi Roussanne Ice Wine pairing!!
Excellent food. Unlikely to see anywhere else. But you do need a deep wallet.
The Harrow's food is very good. I particularly enjoyed the venison and the scallops. The lobster was comparatively disappointing. The wine selection is thought provoking and very well matched. The service was fine, but a little mechnical and not the level of close attention I might have expected.
We had an enjoyable lunch for four at the Harrow, midweek and we were one of two tables occupied. We went for the 5 Course menu which was quite enough for us and the quality and amount of food was about perfect and we rated it as very good. The staff were delightful, helpful and efficient.
The cost with tip was £75.00 per head. I would like to find a £25 -£30 bottle of wine in the list, they may well have existed, but with some 30 to 40 pages to look through one does not really have time. I also found the charge for cheese to be excessive at £15.00 per head and when it arrived I was underwhelmed.
I eat out for lunch on average about 3 times a week and as a local I would very much like to go to the Harrow more often without it being a special event and would be happy to pay £50.00 per head inclusive. It may well be possible but it was not made obvious.
All in all a very good experience. Thank you.
Delicious, imaginative food served in a comfortable dining room by very helpful and attentive staff . We especially enjoyed the sweet ‘boiled egg’ on the set menu!
Serving staff disappeared early in the service and came back smelling very "herbal". Not appropriate for any restaurant, never mind one supposedly of such quality.
Some courses were excellent while we felt others missed the mark.
The wine was, however, very good and we were surprised to see a Canadian desert wine which tasted excellent.
Fantastic from start to finish! The Steak Tartare was simply stunning. A lovely welcome, attentive but not intrusive service, relaxed atmosphere and food that you just want to keep on eating. Thanks you, our first time but will not be our last.
Had been meaning to try The Harrow for some time and we weren’t disappointed! The staff were all very friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and wines and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The food was out of this world - I can’t pick one course that was best, they were all excellent! Will definitely be going again.
we had a lovely evening to celebrate a birthday, the food was fantastic and service as always perfect, will definitely return!
We were made to feel very welcome and we weren't rushed. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. An excellent wine list too.
Fantastic from start to finish. The 5 course lunch tasting menu was stunning, and the wines chosen to accompany the delicious food were perfect. I can't recommend the 'Taste of India' dish enough!
Superb from the start. Latest of four visits we have been lucky to have had here over the past eight years, and I can honestly say this latest visit was the best (not that previous ones were bad by any means). Food was faultless and I am not easily impressed these days as we are regular fine diners, as this is an interest of ours. Wine was sublime and the ambiance was total relaxation, which was much needed by us at the moment. Can’t recommend any higher - an obvious establishment that genuinely takes pride in all aspects if their product.
The Harrow is a real gem - it is the best value 6 or 8 tasting menu I have ever had and the food is fantastic. The service is very good - not stuffy Michelin style - but very professional and very friendly.
Just perfect in every respect
Our first visit to the Harrow and it proved to be well worth the 80 minute journey across Wiltshire. The food and matching wines were well up to expectations, as was the service, which was discreet, friendly and attentive.
Never disappoints. Lovely food, Attentive service and great value.
The Harrow is run by a couple - he knows food and how to cook and present it extremely well and she does the same with the wine. Also the staff are superb! Nothing is too much trouble and their allergy awareness is second to none as well . Go there and you will not regret it and you WILL go again and again - we do !!
Wonderful welcome as always. We had a lovely lunch.
This was the 3rd time to The Harrow, the food was fabulous, the service wonderful, we look forward to returning soon.
Great restaurant that is worth travelling to. Fabulous tasting menu (we had the 5 course lunch) and excellent wine pairing.
The experience at The Harrow was excellent. This was for our 44th Wedding Anniversary and they had a card and specially printed menu for us that showed it was for our 44th Anniversary.
All the staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable and the food presentation and Taste outstanding. I would certainly recommend this to my family and friends and we will be returning.
Lovely food with matching wines. A real treat for a special occasion.
Quite outstanding food the best we have experienced in the three visits we have made there
Always a great evening out not just a meal. A experience or people who haven't been before.
We had the 6 course tasting menu with wine. Superb!!!!
Excellent as always. Will return to sample the vegetarian taster menu
Absolutely delicious meal and a real treat! Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
Perfection on a plate. Definitely recommend the 8 course dining menu. One word Superb
Fantastic food and service. Superb 6 course tasting menu
We travelled from London to meet a fried. Well worth the effort. An excellent meal, good wine and friendly and efficient service. Special thanks to Sue. Look forward to going again.
Booked for us as a Christmas present from my parents and I cannot fault The Harrow. Incredible tastes, wonderful service and great atmosphere, would 100% reccomend the 8 course menu with the wine flight. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent food, wine and service. Loved the six course set menu.
Wonderful food and wine - well worth travelling to!
Lovely meal, food exquisite attention to detail from members of staff. Would thoroughly recommend to others.
We were pleasantly surprised by the fixed taster menu. The courses were well designed with a good balance of ingredients and flavours. The matched wines were inspired choices.
Lovely meal for Granny's 85th Birthday. Needed to be good Ex Cookery teacher.
We have eaten at The Harrow on a number of occasions it is always superb and each time seems
to surpass the previous one. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly a must place to visit.
The Harrow maintains its very high standard throughout. The staff are very well-versed in their trade. The food is of a very high standard, beautifully presented, and tastes amazing. The wines are hand-picked by the owners, who source their supplies by visiting the vineyards, not relying on other's opinions. All in all, a very welcoming and enjoyable venue.
We both enjoyed our five course lunch. The chicken and cep risotto was very nice. The slight Indian influence was nice especially the tarka Dahl. Staff lovely. Will visit again.
