The Harrow at Little Bedwyn
Produce is sourced from "real' farmers, fish are line caught and from day boats only and live shellfish arrive daily. The emphasis is on clean and intense flavours allowing the main ingredient to shine, showcased in a series of Tasting Menus.
The 900 bin wine list, holder of the World's Best Wine List top award, has been lovingly compiled by the owners, Sue and Roger, over the last 20 years and focuses largely on the New World with some impressive vertical listings. Particular attention is given to various styles of wine flights matched to each menu.
Customers' comfort, enjoyment and relaxation are all important to the small team of staff who offer the very best in efficient but informal service, allowing guests to enjoy every aspect of their experience.
My wife and I enjoyed the dining experience, the menus were fantastic, well matched with the wines and complemented by the exceptional service, which kept a flow to the occasion and was never intrusive. A great lunch thank you.
Definitely worth a visit with excellent service and divine food only let down by an average matched wines experience Should be phenomenal but sadly let down!
Such a great place. Amazing food and perfect wine list. Thanks!
Superb tasting menu, courses well linked with beautiful combination of fresh ingredients. Cornish turbot and take on egg and soldiers exceptional. Service discreet yet professional. Well done. We will return
A complete surprise for me as I did not realise "The Harrow" was such a highly regarded restaurant.
I chose "The Harrow" because of the wonderful delights offered on the menu and it surpassed my expectations.
When I am next in the area and I want a top class meal this will be my first choice.
fantastic experience. excellent food and service. could not have asked for more. Outstanding.
It's definitely the venue for something out of the ordinary and not simply a standard meal out. We had a mixed age group and all commented on the variety of flavour and food combinations to tempt the palate. We chose to match the wines and they were a revelation as the staff described them beforehand how to judge before and after food impacts. It was expensive, but never did you feel that it was not excellent value for money. We liked the fact that whilst part of the whole room, we had our own niche area which gave a feeling of privacy.
Just had the most wonderful 5 course taster menu at this place. The staff are incredible and cannot do enough for you. If you want some fantastic Michelin star food with excellent service in a country village setting, this is the place you. Have booked to return in July for an evening service. Very excited.
Attentive relaxed service. Delicious food. Perfect!
Fantastic food and service!
We had the five course lunch menu; one of us had the accompnaying wines. We enjoyed our meal very much. The food was delicious and the service informed and attentive but not intrusive. We considered the quality of the meal made this very good value. We will defintiely go again.
The food was exquisite and the service exemplary. We loved that they were flexible with the tasting menu, which meant we were able to try a dish we really wanted off one of the other menus.
Amazing food. Spectacular wine matching. Totally lovely evening.
Great food. Difficult access due to roadworks so parked at the top of the road. Hard to get to but its worth it.
A 40th Anniversary treat for us both. Loved every mouthful and service second to none.
My husband and I had the 8 course gourmet menu. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the balance of flavours was excellent. My husband had the £50 wine pairing and says it was the finest that he's ever tasted, with a great variety. For the quality of the food, it was very good value. We will definitely be going back.
Very happy with both quality and quantity of the food, the service was outstanding and very pleased to have spent the time there, the only bug bear was that the menu had changed from the online version so we didn’t have the options available at that time to what we thought
A fantastic experience, as always. The service was again outstanding and the flavours of the tasting menu were second to none.
Why haven't I found you before. Superb - all of it. Especially the egg surprise with soldier, amazing.
See you soon.
This was our second visit to The Harrow and again we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, we had the Set 8 Course Gourmet Menu. The staff were welcoming and service was first class.
We were made to feel special and will certainly be visiting again.
A nice place with friendly staff, but the food was a bit disappointing for a 1 star Michelin. The confit duck leg, for example was quite dry and bland. The other dishes were fairly underwhelming, although not bad food per se.
It’s such a treat to visit The Harrow and it was as fabulous as always. I enjoyed every course of the Tasting menu and love the fact the decision for each course is taken for me. I highly recommend the wine flight too. The standout bits for me were the Ceviche, lamb croquette and the best Welsh cake I’ve ever tasted (and I’ve got through a few in my time!). It was my friends’ first visit and they loved it. Service was perfect - attentive but unobtrusive and Sarah appreciated her tailored menu to take the fact she’s pescatarian into account. Thank you to the whole team - we can’t wait to come back!
The food was absolutely fantastic and the wine pairing was superb. Service was amazing. Definitely will go again
We visited the Harrow for their Good Friday seafood menu and once again it was a meal to remember. Food and service were up to the usual excellent standard and were complimented by bottles from my own cellar. Our friends who accompanied us enjoyed the meal so much they instantly made another booking for the date when some friends from the North come down to West Berkshire: I can't think of a better recommendation.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - ensure you get the REBEL Pi Roussanne Ice Wine pairing!!
Excellent food. Unlikely to see anywhere else. But you do need a deep wallet.
The Harrow's food is very good. I particularly enjoyed the venison and the scallops. The lobster was comparatively disappointing. The wine selection is thought provoking and very well matched. The service was fine, but a little mechnical and not the level of close attention I might have expected.
We had an enjoyable lunch for four at the Harrow, midweek and we were one of two tables occupied. We went for the 5 Course menu which was quite enough for us and the quality and amount of food was about perfect and we rated it as very good. The staff were delightful, helpful and efficient.
The cost with tip was £75.00 per head. I would like to find a £25 -£30 bottle of wine in the list, they may well have existed, but with some 30 to 40 pages to look through one does not really have time. I also found the charge for cheese to be excessive at £15.00 per head and when it arrived I was underwhelmed.
I eat out for lunch on average about 3 times a week and as a local I would very much like to go to the Harrow more often without it being a special event and would be happy to pay £50.00 per head inclusive. It may well be possible but it was not made obvious.
All in all a very good experience. Thank you.
Delicious, imaginative food served in a comfortable dining room by very helpful and attentive staff . We especially enjoyed the sweet ‘boiled egg’ on the set menu!
Serving staff disappeared early in the service and came back smelling very "herbal". Not appropriate for any restaurant, never mind one supposedly of such quality.
Some courses were excellent while we felt others missed the mark.
The wine was, however, very good and we were surprised to see a Canadian desert wine which tasted excellent.
Fantastic from start to finish! The Steak Tartare was simply stunning. A lovely welcome, attentive but not intrusive service, relaxed atmosphere and food that you just want to keep on eating. Thanks you, our first time but will not be our last.
Had been meaning to try The Harrow for some time and we weren’t disappointed! The staff were all very friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and wines and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The food was out of this world - I can’t pick one course that was best, they were all excellent! Will definitely be going again.
we had a lovely evening to celebrate a birthday, the food was fantastic and service as always perfect, will definitely return!
We were made to feel very welcome and we weren't rushed. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. An excellent wine list too.
Fantastic from start to finish. The 5 course lunch tasting menu was stunning, and the wines chosen to accompany the delicious food were perfect. I can't recommend the 'Taste of India' dish enough!
Superb from the start. Latest of four visits we have been lucky to have had here over the past eight years, and I can honestly say this latest visit was the best (not that previous ones were bad by any means). Food was faultless and I am not easily impressed these days as we are regular fine diners, as this is an interest of ours. Wine was sublime and the ambiance was total relaxation, which was much needed by us at the moment. Can’t recommend any higher - an obvious establishment that genuinely takes pride in all aspects if their product.
The Harrow is a real gem - it is the best value 6 or 8 tasting menu I have ever had and the food is fantastic. The service is very good - not stuffy Michelin style - but very professional and very friendly.
Just perfect in every respect
Our first visit to the Harrow and it proved to be well worth the 80 minute journey across Wiltshire. The food and matching wines were well up to expectations, as was the service, which was discreet, friendly and attentive.
Never disappoints. Lovely food, Attentive service and great value.
