The Harrow at Little Bedwyn
Produce is sourced from "real' farmers, fish are line caught and from day boats only and live shellfish arrive daily. The emphasis is on clean and intense flavours allowing the main ingredient to shine, showcased in a series of Tasting Menus.
The 900 bin wine list, holder of the World's Best Wine List top award, has been lovingly compiled by the owners, Sue and Roger, over the last 20 years and focuses largely on the New World with some impressive vertical listings. Particular attention is given to various styles of wine flights matched to each menu.
Customers' comfort, enjoyment and relaxation are all important to the small team of staff who offer the very best in efficient but informal service, allowing guests to enjoy every aspect of their experience.
Saturday: 12pm - 1:45pm and 6:30pm - 9pm
The most recent of several visits, and probably the best yet
We have been to The Harrow a few times over the years and it never disappoints. Great food, great wine and a quiet unassuming atmosphere. The service is exceptional and if you enjoy your wines then you will not be disappointed.
Make sure you book well in advance!
Wonderful meal with outstanding wines. Interesting and flexible choice of wines with knowledgeable advice.
This was a Ruby wedding anniversary family meal, and everyone was most impressed with the quality of service, knowledgeable staff, attention to detail and pleasant ambience. We were particularly with the local cheeses and English high quality toiletries in the restrooms.
Welcoming and polite staff - helpful in explaining the dishes and drinks menu.
Amazing food - perfect for special occasions and those that appreciate quality food.
Fabulous as usual. Thank you to The Harrow team for making my birthday special.
Fabulous food with friendly, attentive yet non-intrusive service. A real treat!
The most amazing place for a family 18th birthday celebration. The food, service, booking, staff.... Just perfect.
Such a special place with outstanding food and service. A true gem. We feel so lucky to have this as a local restaurant but would travel to get here. Consistently meets an incredibly high standard.
Great meal, excellent service
An excellent evening and really delicious food as ever. From the moment we arrived at The Harrow we were made to feel special and we were very well looked after. The six course tasting menu and matched wines were really good and it was a very well balanced email. thoroughly reommended
The boiled egg and soldier, outstanding 10/10.
This is the 3rd time we’ve been to The Harrow and every time we come we are wowed by the food and the service. An absolute gem of a place. We cannot recommend it highly enough!
A fantastic restaurant with none of the pretence that you sometimes find with restaurants of this quality.
Exceptional food and matched wines. Great, knowledgeable service. Would highly recommend the eight course menu, although we will probably go for the six course menu plus cheese selection next time.
Faultless service, flawless cuisine. An excellent meal. The 6 course tasting menu (with optional cheese course) and compatible wines was magnificent. Nothing more to add.
Food is simply spectacular . They only do Taster Menus but portion control is perfect.
Absolutely fantastic place to eat. Staff have a very gentle, professional approach and all knowledgeable and briefed on each dish. The 8 course tasting menu with wines is a must, beautifully cooked with great dedication to the ingredients and chosen wines well matched. The girl serving us knew her way around the wine selections, very impressive. Every dish was cooked to absolute perfection with the very best ingredients. The best restaurant around and trust me once you eat there, nowhere will match it. Even the coffee in little glass expresso glasses was sublime. Humbly, I thank you at each visit......
I have lost count of the number of times I have dined at the Harrow over the last 15 years and each one has provided a gastronomic highlight. This visit was yet another triumph for the Harrow team: the lunch menu was billed as the chef's selection and after a smoked cod roe and octopus starter, the Japanese inspired fish course was outstanding: a salad of lobster, scallop veviche and salmon with yuzu and delicately spiced wasabi cream; the lamb cutlets for the main course were cooked perfectly and served with a croquette stuffed with minced lamb; the signature boiled egg and soldier (passion fruit puree and soft meringue served in an egg cup with accompanying shortbread finger) led onto the dessert of rum baba. The service was very friendly and welcoming as always.
Another delicious meal, always a delight, we are never disappointed.
Excellent dining experience, pairing of wine is a must.
Leisurely pace ensures all courses are enjoyed without any rush.
Very friendly staff and very accommodating
A first class restaurant. Attentive service, fine wines and wonderful food. We will certainly return.
Wonderful food you could not possibly cook at home, perfect matching wines, excellent service. A memorable experience.
Absolutely outstanding food and completely worth its Michelin star. The £40 lunch menu was excellent value and every mouthful was gorgeous. Unequivocally recommend
Beautiful decor, fine food, amazing wines and heartfelt service. The Harrow offers a fine dining experience is a lovely rural setting.
Fantastic food, with lovely matched wines, highly recommended
One of our best meals for a long time. Everything was spot on:
- Warm welcome by engaging staff especially Sue Rogers.
- Fantastic menu; I have 'gone off' tasting menus latterly but this was a gem.
- The wine list, no THE wine list.. a stunning piece of work reflecting a lifetime of collecting and sharing wines with some real delights at a fair mark up.
- Service was just perfect..
- The glasses, yes they make such a difference.
I would highly recommend the food and service at the Harrow. I went for the 6 course tasting menu which every course was excellent. There was an extravagant wine list from which to choose and the service was also first class. If I was going to point out any faults it would be lack of a car park so you need to park on the road, this was not a problem as I got there early but could imagine when busy you might have a bit of a walk. Also on the Wednesday night the atmosphere was quite quiet but I assume that was just that particular night. The staff were certainly friendly and explained every dish in detail. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area.
Fantastic couldn't fault it. Would happily go again
Impressive food and service in a pleasant low-key location
Memorably fabulous food, beautifully presented: all 3 of us thought it was an absolutely delicious dinner
Never lets us down...a firm favourite for over 10 years and it still feels special every time. The team made a huge effort to impress with non alcoholic drinks to match the food, we took notes and will be buying some of the options to enjoy at home.
Excellent as usual .
Though on this occasion I was the designated driver , so had to miss out on the wines 😢
We used to go to The Harrow quite often, but due to circumstances (not due to a disappointing experience) this was our first visit this year.
It was worth the wait. The food, was exceptional, and the wine pairings worked beautifully. Very good and efficient service too, and the chef dealt with our table’s dietary requirements (1 lactose free, 1 pescatarian and 1 nut allergy) brilliantly. We’ve already booked our next visit!
The courses in the taster menu provide great conversation pieces ... as well as great tasting
Superb, sublime, special. Start to finish, utter quality. One of the UK’s very best. Thank you Sue, Roger & Team.
My second visit and it didn’t disappoint. Absolutely wonderful food paired with exquisite wine
Delicious Quite Meal in the Countryside:
This was a very good meal served with a smile and easy efficiency, we ordered the 8 course Tasting Menu for two, and we were offered to alter any item from the list we are not keen on with another from the other available menus, which was a nice gesture. We preferred to order wine by the glass from the extensive list presented. The meal was unhurried and the food was both very tasty and beautifully presented. Just one note to mention that my main dish was beef and it was served "Rare" as is fashionable nowadays, unfortunately I forgot to ask for it to be served "Medium" as I normally like it.
This was a lovely meal in a classic restaurant environment.
The restaurant is a fine dining jewel. The greeting on arrival was warm and friendly. Staff were highly attentive, knowledgeable and inobtrusive. The eight course taster menu was particularly inviting and proved to be outstanding. Each course was elegant, creative, tasteful and beautifully presented. The different selections were well balanced, beautifully cooked and a delight to eat. The wine list was comprehensive and reasonably priced. The service was timely, efficient and impressive. The restaurant is tucked away in the countryside between Hungerford and Marlborough yet easy to find. Parking in the narrow road outside the restaurant is somewhat challenging but nevertheless possible. The Michelin Star is a just reward for the overall excellence of the restaurant - this is a special place staffed by special people providing an ultra special dining experience. We were delighted to discover the Harrow and have recommended the venue to many of our friends without hesitation. Thank you to all concerned for a wonderful evening which we will long remember.
Food was excellent and a treat for a special occasion.
A solid 4, bordering on 4.5/5. Booked for a family birthday, went as two adult couples. Very reasonably priced for Michelin starred experience and felt informal/casual and relaxed. We sat down at 2pm for lunch with only two other tables seated, which didn't feel lonely or oppressive, just the right amount of company.
We had the five course lunch menu with wine pairing and optional cheese course. Would definitely recommend the wine pairing as we came away with a couple of firm favourites to try again. Options available for non-drinkers and non-wine fans.
The serving staff were attentive but not hovering in your face and seemed very knowledgeable about both the food and drinks that we were served.
The food itself was lovely - particularly enjoyed the turbot main. One of our party had a dietary requirement that was catered for very well. Only comment would be that in a 5 course tasting we didn't have a meat course and oriental spices where used in a couple of places, would perhaps have wanted a bit more variation, unless a theme was intended? However, used very well and personally did not miss the meat course, although another in our party did mention it!
Very nice selection of teas and coffees for after the meal.
Would recommend to friends and like to go again.
