Produce is sourced from "real' farmers, fish are line caught and from day boats only and live shellfish arrive daily. The emphasis is on clean and intense flavours allowing the main ingredient to shine, showcased in a series of Tasting Menus.
The 900 bin wine list, holder of the World's Best Wine List top award, has been lovingly compiled by the owners, Sue and Roger, over the last 20 years and focuses largely on the New World with some impressive vertical listings. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience here. It is expensive but you get what you pay for. The staff were amazing, knowledgeable and attentive without crowding or disturbing our conversation. I would highly recommend the experience to anyone.

This was a perfect birthday present treat. Welcomed graciously at the door and shown to our table where the service was perfectly given throughout. Naturally the food was fantastic and beautifully presented. We loved the boiled egg and solder. The dessert was to die for and although the previous courses were not huge (and not expected to be) when the dessert arrived it felt enormous! A taste of every type of lemon dish imaginable. I just love this type of thing and if I could afford to I would bring all my friends too! They do know how to behave!
The waiting staff knew all the answers to questions about the wine and food.
Altogether we totally enjoyed the whole experience.

Simply the best restaurant locally. Each course was unique and tasted sublime. The wines were a perfect match. The service was great with detailed explanations of the food and the wine pairings.

I've lost count of the number of times that we have dined at The Harrow, each has been a delight of flavours, impeccable knowledgeable service and remarkable value for fine dining. This occasion was no exception : a five course fish dinner with matching wines. Thank you Sue and Roger : we are looking forward eagerly to our next visit.

Always a stunning culinary experience going to The Harrow!! Exquisite food served by knowledgable staff in a classy but not overbearing environment. We had the added bonus of a glorious early spring day walking in the local area before we enjoyed our wonderful meal. Such a pretty corner of countryside. This is one of my absolute favourite places to dine!!

We had the tasting menu for 4 people to celebrate a birthday (31 3 18)
The service and attention to detail were exceptional. The food was excellent particuarly the starters and main courses . Dessert was in the shade compared to the other courses, good but 4 different small tasters which had no outstanding qualities and the range of flavours was a little bland. That is being fair but constructively critical I think.
Prices fair for this very high level.
Would we go again and recommend?
Yes we would!

Overall a lovely experience. The menu is inventive with the quality of ingredients and cooking really evident. Great attention to detail really shows in the overall ambience of the place, and the knowledgeable and attentive serving team really add to the experience. Loved touches like the fact that they had selected different ingredients and typed me a separate version of the tasting menu, having told them in advance that I am allergic to shellfish.

I have to confess to being a little disappointed. I expected more from a Michelin starred restaurant (possibly too much). The lunch menu was good and well presented but not exceptional. There weren't any dishes where I relished every mouthful, no taste combinations that I will remember. This restaurant won't make it into my personal Top 10; I've had more memorable meals in other places. Sorry, guys.

Our second time and The Harrow did not disappoint! We came to celebrate birthdays and all the special little touches organised by the team were so appreciated. Food was sumptuous and the wine pairings always so interesting and spot on. Lovely service and friendly ambience. Our whole family highly recommends!

I met up with an old University friend here for lunch. It was half-way between where we both lived, neither of us had been before so we did not know what to expect.

The ‘set’ five course lunch looked great - but better than that, you could swap items from the evening set courses so actually there was a reasonable choice. I went for the - ‘Fresh Torbay Crab, Lobster Mousse, Watermelon & Cucumber’ starter followed by ‘Scottish Venison, Indian Spices, Turks Dhal’ for my main. My companion stuck to the original set lunch and we both opted for the premium wines to accompany our chosen dishes and also ‘opted in’ for the cheese platter.

I have dined at most of the famous restaurants in England from Gordon Ramsey’s in Hospital road to ‘Le Manoir’ and have to say that the food was as good as this very high standard.

Each dish was immaculately presented, outstanding in taste, very ‘clean’ on the palate and the flavours complemented well.
The wines also complemented the dishes nicely and were all wines I have never had before (I am an extensive drinker of wine). The service was perfect in not being overly attentive but there when needed.

The ambiance was quiet (until we arrived!) and the seating layout was nicely spacious - which is something I like about a good/great restaurant.

The fact that I have taken the time to write a lengthy review says it all, as I have never done this before!!

Finally if I am remotely close to here again , ‘I will be back’.

We have been there numerous times, each time to take different friends. Every time it has been an exceptional experience and everyone loved it. It is a bit remote so takes us 1 hour to get to there but it is well worth they trip, so I recommend the taster menu at lunch time, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. The only downside is the parking in the lane outside.

The meal at The Harrow was all we had expected and more. We had the 6 course tasting menu which was on special offer for December and very glad we were that we had done so. The ideas behind the dishes were inventive and the realisation was very satisfying. The staff were helpful and available without being forward. A birthday party in the next room was a bit loud but didn't really intrude. The wine we had was by the glass and was good but the full wine list was huge. The one slight downside was lack of on site parking but that's a modest price to pay for an excellent meal.

Enjoyable meal but lack of car park, and lack of Christmas decorations affected the ambience for this time of year.
Wine menu was amazing, and the 8 course tasting menu was delicious.

We cannot fault the restaurant or the food, and will continue to return for special occasions. I was unhappy with the siting of our table which was close to the main entrance; it was drafty, and staff and guests has to brush past to get access

Have been once before and it was phenomenal. Slightly disappointed this time as far too much cheese on the lunch menu and not enough alternatives so rather a ‘heavy’ meal which cloyed the palate. The boiled egg and soldiers always delights although not as good as the last time as it was not rounded at the top. Service was excellent. Worth checking on line menu before you come so you can make adjustments.

A fairly quiet Saturday lunchtime saw a great 6 course tasting menu with exceptional service. The highlight was the lamb although picking a winner is difficult when every course is a talking point. A very good Cinsault competed with a delightful Pinot Noir for wine of the day.

Our first visit to the Harrow and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were attentive but not overbearing. The food was excellent. The menu was readily adapted to suit our personal tastes. The highlights were the Brill with Chicken and Cep Cream and the Cardigan Bay Lamb. In short, a perfect meal out.

Had the tasting menu at a previous visit a couple of years ago, but the 8 course tasting menu this time was supreme. Each course better than the last, the menu built to a perfect crescendo of tastes and experiences. I love this place, but it is for special occasions for most of us due to the price.
