The Harrow at Little Bedwyn Ratings and Reviews
A fairly quiet Saturday lunchtime saw a great 6 course tasting menu with exceptional service. The highlight was the lamb although picking a winner is difficult when every course is a talking point. A very good Cinsault competed with a delightful Pinot Noir for wine of the day.
Our first visit to the Harrow and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were attentive but not overbearing. The food was excellent. The menu was readily adapted to suit our personal tastes. The highlights were the Brill with Chicken and Cep Cream and the Cardigan Bay Lamb. In short, a perfect meal out.
Had the tasting menu at a previous visit a couple of years ago, but the 8 course tasting menu this time was supreme. Each course better than the last, the menu built to a perfect crescendo of tastes and experiences. I love this place, but it is for special occasions for most of us due to the price.
The harrow did not fail to impress, great food, great location, great wine list. Had a very good evening. The beetroot parfait was amazing, the lobster cooked to perfection and the boiled egg and soldier was fun and amazing. Will return for lunch and dinner. Thanks to you all at the Harrow 10/10.
Everything about our meal and experience at this charming restaurant was perfect. I was celebrating a Big Zero Birthday and The Harrow made it unique fir us and very special. The meal through the six courses we had was remarkably interesting and delicious and presented beautifully. Thanks to the staff for their wonderful, personable service.
My family and I took my brother & father here for a joint birthday celebration and The Harrow team made every effort to make our visit special. Little touches that went miles, warm & personal service and the food & wine pairings were sublime. We are already planning our next visit for my birthday! Thank you to everybody at The Harrow for making our day so wonderful filled with lots of happy memories x
Wonderful 6 course tasting menu, taken with the 'Premium' accompanying wines. Staff charming, knowledgeable, attentive but not fussing. Amazing wine list. Quality of food, creativity and presentation as you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. A real treat.
We had a wonderful celebration at The Harrow for a 60th birthday. We chose the Gourmet menu and it was fabulous; each course was packed with flavour, beautifully presented and a pleasure to eat. The service was impeccable and Sue gave excellent and helpful advice on wines. Highly recommended.
We had the six course taster menu for an anniversary lunch, and it was courses ranged from 'very good' to truly outstanding, and it ranked alongside Michelin star food we have eaten in the past. The staff were welcoming, flexible, hospitable and knowledgeable - every member of staff knew each course and each wine.
Friday lunch was a return visit for us but we took friends who had never visited this hidden gem before and who now cannot believe it escaped their radar! The restaurant was vibrant and busy but equally cosy and personal (remarked especially by friend who has a problem with large echo-y and impersonal noisy spaces). The food was to die for and certainly lived up to reputation/expectation - really can't understand why we haven't been going more often and diary note to put that right! Citrus cured salmon sitting over pulse of Pembroke lobster was unforgettable, as was the Cardigan Bay lamb done two ways with a memorable tangy accompaniment of minted couscous. I won't spoil the surprise of what was simply stated on the dessert menu as 'berries' - don't miss it! We chose the set 6 course tasting menu as was lunch rather than dinner - it was perfect as left feeling full and satisfied but not over-faced. The men went for the matched tasting wines - again a good choice for those not driving. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and described all courses as they arrived. Allergies had been asked about before the reservation date and options offered/suggested without the slightest hint of inconvenience. Excellent meal and although you could get carried away spending on the very extensive and marvellous wine list, it is not a pre-requisite, and all in all it is a very good value experience and certainly, we felt, a preferable spend, dining experience, ambience to at least a couple of notable restaurants you might otherwise defer to in the local area. Please visit - you will not be disappointed!
The Harrow is truly an absolute gem of a restaurant. We went for my partners birthday and they really made him feel special. Sue is an exceptional host and took us through all the wines with her extensive knowledge. They also adapted the tasting menu with our dietary requirements which was very much appreciated. Thanks so much for making Marks birthday extra special. We highly recommend The Harrow
Excellent lunch at The Harrow again. Some aspects of the menu could be seen as repetitive from previous visits but that would be harsh when a more apt descriptor would be that they are remarkably consistent in their standards and quality. We were very pleased that we went for the 6 course option over the 5, as the monkfish cutlets were exceptional. My wife really enjoyed her optional cheese course. Dessert was good but the chocolate version enjoyed previously was better. Excellent flexibility in the menu, allowing my wife to swap out a course she didn't like for an equivalent on another menu that she did.
We sampled the 8 course Gourmet Tasting Menu on a visit to celebrate my wife's birthday. The service and overall experience were both perfect from start to finish. We found the menu flavourful and well balanced with exciting use of local ingredients. An excellent wine list with affordable gems amongst a sensibly priced full range.
The Harrow is a little gem and well worth the effort to visit as it's a little off the beaten track. We had the Taster menu which is highly recommended as the food was excellent and innovative. Front of house can't be faulted, with friendly and attentive staff but not overly so. They were knowledgeable about the food and wine and happy to discuss as long as wanted. There's a beautiful little garden and terrace which is perfect for an aperitif or coffee. We'll definitely return.
Capped off an extraordinary day spent exploring prehistoric monuments in Wiltshire, by spending a relaxed evening relishing the 8-course tasting menu dinner at The Harrow. The ambiance, the service and the very fine food itself were transcendent. The matched wines perfectly complimented the innovative and satisfying range of plates. This restaurant is an absolute gem (kudos well-deserved) and quite worth a long drive to experience!
We have now eaten at the Harrow twice and on both occasions the food has been excellent, the service attentive but not intrusive and it has been very good value for money. It is one of those places where time does not happen - you can fully enjoy your food and the company of your friends.
