The Harrow at Little Bedwyn
Produce is sourced from "real' farmers, fish are line caught and from day boats only and live shellfish arrive daily. The emphasis is on clean and intense flavours allowing the main ingredient to shine, showcased in a series of Tasting Menus.
The 900 bin wine list, holder of the World's Best Wine List top award, has been lovingly compiled by the owners, Sue and Roger, over the last 20 years and focuses largely on the New World with some impressive vertical listings. Particular attention is given to various styles of wine flights matched to each menu.
Customers' comfort, enjoyment and relaxation are all important to the small team of staff who offer the very best in efficient but informal service, allowing guests to enjoy every aspect of their experience.
Having recently moved to Wiltshire we have just found out about The Harrow. Oh my it's not going to be good for our bank account as we are already planning our next visit.
We have been lucky enough to go to many "top" London restaurants and the food is as good if not better than some of the Michelin restaurants we have been to. The fish was easily the best I've ever tasted! Yes, it's not cheap, but the quality of food (including the cheeseboard) was so good that we felt we had great value for money.
What makes this place outstanding is the amazing service we got. At no point were we made to feel uncomfortable if we didn't understand the wine list or menu. We wanted to share the pairing wines and that was not a problem at all. All the serving staff were so lovely and a credit to the restaurant.
Thank you for a wonderful night, hope to see you again very soon!
p.s. how often do menu's change?
Best food I have ever had, this was our second visit. Great description of the wine and food prior to each course, I genuinely would get excited before the first bite/sip. The selection of wine enhanced the meal so much and the Sommelier was fantastic in her description. Staff can be a bit snooty on occasion.
What you would expect from a world class restaurant.
Our favourite restaurant for birthdays etc. Always good and interesting food.
Delicious food, amazing wine list and friendly staff.
We had the 5 course lunch menu for £40 per head. The food was faultless, tasted amazing and was beautifully presented, the service was good too. The lunch time service was very quiet..which suited us and the price was great value considering the standard of food served.
Whilst a bit of the beaten track...this was a good place to go for a bit of a treat.
Another excellent meal at The Harrow. It is our go-to venue for celebrations. Food was delicious and beautifully presented and the service, as always, was helpful, unobtrusive and friendly.
We were absolutely blown away by The Harrow, the flavour sensations were unreal. We could not even pinpoint a favourite dish as each course wowed us from start to finish. We had the 8 gourmet menu without wines or the additional cheese course and was amazed and full at the end of it. I told them it was my partners birthday and they put a signed card on the table as well as adding happy birthday to the printed menu, and out a cute champagne candle in his dessert he was so happy for the little touches. We will definitely be back!!!
Simply - a perfect evening. The venue, food, wine (and knowledge of the extensive wine list) and service was fabulous. We've been to The Harrow two or three times before and its never missed a beat.
We'll be back!
Excellent food and wine at The Harrow. My fourth visit and hope to be back again soon.
Excellent service, exceptional food and for a Mitchelin Star restaurant good value.
Outstanding food, excellent service, would not hesitate to recommend
No explanation of food
My wife and I enjoyed the dining experience, the menus were fantastic, well matched with the wines and complemented by the exceptional service, which kept a flow to the occasion and was never intrusive. A great lunch thank you.
Definitely worth a visit with excellent service and divine food only let down by an average matched wines experience Should be phenomenal but sadly let down!
Such a great place. Amazing food and perfect wine list. Thanks!
Superb tasting menu, courses well linked with beautiful combination of fresh ingredients. Cornish turbot and take on egg and soldiers exceptional. Service discreet yet professional. Well done. We will return
A complete surprise for me as I did not realise "The Harrow" was such a highly regarded restaurant.
I chose "The Harrow" because of the wonderful delights offered on the menu and it surpassed my expectations.
When I am next in the area and I want a top class meal this will be my first choice.
fantastic experience. excellent food and service. could not have asked for more. Outstanding.
It's definitely the venue for something out of the ordinary and not simply a standard meal out. We had a mixed age group and all commented on the variety of flavour and food combinations to tempt the palate. We chose to match the wines and they were a revelation as the staff described them beforehand how to judge before and after food impacts. It was expensive, but never did you feel that it was not excellent value for money. We liked the fact that whilst part of the whole room, we had our own niche area which gave a feeling of privacy.
Just had the most wonderful 5 course taster menu at this place. The staff are incredible and cannot do enough for you. If you want some fantastic Michelin star food with excellent service in a country village setting, this is the place you. Have booked to return in July for an evening service. Very excited.
Attentive relaxed service. Delicious food. Perfect!
Fantastic food and service!
We had the five course lunch menu; one of us had the accompnaying wines. We enjoyed our meal very much. The food was delicious and the service informed and attentive but not intrusive. We considered the quality of the meal made this very good value. We will defintiely go again.
The food was exquisite and the service exemplary. We loved that they were flexible with the tasting menu, which meant we were able to try a dish we really wanted off one of the other menus.
Amazing food. Spectacular wine matching. Totally lovely evening.
Great food. Difficult access due to roadworks so parked at the top of the road. Hard to get to but its worth it.
A 40th Anniversary treat for us both. Loved every mouthful and service second to none.
My husband and I had the 8 course gourmet menu. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the balance of flavours was excellent. My husband had the £50 wine pairing and says it was the finest that he's ever tasted, with a great variety. For the quality of the food, it was very good value. We will definitely be going back.
Very happy with both quality and quantity of the food, the service was outstanding and very pleased to have spent the time there, the only bug bear was that the menu had changed from the online version so we didn’t have the options available at that time to what we thought
A fantastic experience, as always. The service was again outstanding and the flavours of the tasting menu were second to none.
Why haven't I found you before. Superb - all of it. Especially the egg surprise with soldier, amazing.
See you soon.
This was our second visit to The Harrow and again we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, we had the Set 8 Course Gourmet Menu. The staff were welcoming and service was first class.
We were made to feel special and will certainly be visiting again.
A nice place with friendly staff, but the food was a bit disappointing for a 1 star Michelin. The confit duck leg, for example was quite dry and bland. The other dishes were fairly underwhelming, although not bad food per se.
It’s such a treat to visit The Harrow and it was as fabulous as always. I enjoyed every course of the Tasting menu and love the fact the decision for each course is taken for me. I highly recommend the wine flight too. The standout bits for me were the Ceviche, lamb croquette and the best Welsh cake I’ve ever tasted (and I’ve got through a few in my time!). It was my friends’ first visit and they loved it. Service was perfect - attentive but unobtrusive and Sarah appreciated her tailored menu to take the fact she’s pescatarian into account. Thank you to the whole team - we can’t wait to come back!
The food was absolutely fantastic and the wine pairing was superb. Service was amazing. Definitely will go again
We visited the Harrow for their Good Friday seafood menu and once again it was a meal to remember. Food and service were up to the usual excellent standard and were complimented by bottles from my own cellar. Our friends who accompanied us enjoyed the meal so much they instantly made another booking for the date when some friends from the North come down to West Berkshire: I can't think of a better recommendation.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - ensure you get the REBEL Pi Roussanne Ice Wine pairing!!
Excellent food. Unlikely to see anywhere else. But you do need a deep wallet.
The Harrow's food is very good. I particularly enjoyed the venison and the scallops. The lobster was comparatively disappointing. The wine selection is thought provoking and very well matched. The service was fine, but a little mechnical and not the level of close attention I might have expected.
