The Hawthorn is a Georgian gem in the heart of Haworth, packed full of period features offering a relaxed environment to unwind with friends and family. This warm and appealing gastropub has been renovated throughout to showcase an array of local antiques including a stunning array of Barraclough clocks, homage to John Barraclough himself, Clockmaker to the Brontes, who used to live in this very building in the Georgian era.

We serve only food made using the freshest seasonal British produce and our menu changes through the weeks to reflect this.

We have a custom-made Josper charcoal grill which is the hottest indoor grill available and used by the best restaurants in the country. Cooking on the Josper ensures none of the natural moisture or flavour escapes from the food, whilst at the same time adding the distinct chargrilled taste.

We had Sunday Lunch at The Hawthorn yesterday and it was outstanding. Huge portions and the potatoes are the best I have ever had. We will be booking again soon. Fantastic place with even better food.

We both had longhorn rump steak. Can honestly say it’s the best steak we’ve ever had. Couldn’t fault any part of the experience from entering the building to leaving very happy 2 hours or more later.

I have been to the Hawthorn on many occasions as I live locally and the food and service has always been outstanding so I was really looking forward to my visit on Friday evening with my 2 girlfriends. How disappointed we were with the food. One of my friends ordered the Roasted Butternut Squash which arrived piping hot, myself and my other friend ordered the Pappardelle which was barely warm, whilst the ragu was hot the pasta was cold. We sent it back to the kitchen and after a few minutes the waitress returned to our table and said if the chef cooked our 2 meals again it would be the same temperature and if we wanted our food hotter we would have to have it reheated. She claimed she had watched the chef plate our food and in her view it was hot so even if he prepared us another 2 meals they would be no hotter.! She was quite rude and offered no apology whatsoever, in face the total opposite inferring that we were in the wrong. Honestly I very rarely complain and don't like to make a fuss but on this occasion I feel I must and feel totally let down by the Hawthorn. We weren't offered any apology or any form of recompense, we paid the bill in full but will not be in a hurry to return.

A lovely little find - a snug corner in this cosy little restaurant was exactly what we were hoping for! Food and cocktails marvellous- recommended the Pear Martini! Service was great- we were pushed for time and they managed to get us in and out in time with no problems. Will definitely be back!

We had the Sunday roast and really enjoyed it. Crispy roast potatoes, creamy cauliflower cheese and tasty veggies. The meat was a generous portion and the gravy was really flavourful. The Yorkshire pudding was a bit deflated but didn’t detract from the tasty meal.

Twice I’ve had steak here and both have been absolutely delicious. The peppercorn sauce was amazing and the sides were excellent. It’s such a lovely place, this makes it sometimes difficult to get a table without some notice, but worth a bit of planning and booking it in. The spiced pear martini was beautiful! Honestly, can’t knock this place!

The Hawthorn was amazing. The food was outstanding. The sharing t bone steak for two was extremely expensive and my husband had it for himself!! Couldn't fault the staff. They were very knowledgeable about the food and wine and nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Will definitely dine there again.

My favourite restaurant ever! We’re not from the area but find a reason to visit Howarth just so we can eat at The Hawthorn. Absolutely beautiful in every way. The soup is always incredible. The only thing that would make this wonderful restaurant absolutely perfect would be perhaps 1 or 2 more vegetarian options.

Food was fabulous, decor and lighting was beautiful and romantic. I have to explain the 4 for service, they were perfectly nice but we did get a slight feel that they’d prefer to have locked up early (we’d booked 8:30pm so didn’t leave until around 9:45pm). The young waitress (sorry didn’t get her name) was pleasant but when my hubby asked what beers there where, she said “oh I’ll have to check, I think they’ve turned the pumps off” it just made us feel a bit of an inconvenience which was a shame. That being said, my husband left his mobile phone and they locked it in the safe and got the owner to ring me to arrange collection the next morning so we are really grateful for that. We would return and try again as the food was so good!
