Great service from friendly staff. Food came quickly. Good value for money
Starters & puddings were lovely & portions were good. We all had lamb mains which was mostly fat & we could not eat. Would come back but not for a roast dinner it was mediocre & expensive.
We enjoyed good quality food and service and will return again.
100% worth a visit. Don't let the location of the golf course put you off. Great food and service, looks a bit untidy around the car park area and set back off the main road. Welcome addition to the local restaurant scene.
The place was empty, they had no record of our booking, they brought the wrong drinks,my wife's food was overlooked, her friend could not cut her chicken with a knife and fork.
The restaurant looked very nice and the staff tried hard but the whole evening was completely disappointing
Wonderful best place in Blackrod only falt is the car park
The food was excellent and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. Overall a lovely evening.
Great food at good prices. We loved the steak deal on Thursday. We’ll be back!
Service was terrible unfortunately, as the food was lovely
Complained and all they did was remove the 10% service charge they had put on the bill
Great food and service
Limited menu nice decor. Prompt service but got drinks order wrong. Portion sizes not huge.
Party of 5 including a baby 10 months 3 had the roasts beef or lamb , all cooked & presented well. I had a burger which was also good & a free meal for the baby. Good service , now got our loyalty card as it’s the 3rd time we have been in a month.
Can’t fault the staff at all but we got in at 8 and got out at 930 we had one drink a garlic bread between us then a starter for main and my son got a pizza the pizza wasn’t good greasy we left it we got the bill it wasn’t correct but the staff soon sorted
Visited Hawthornes a few times now both with family & friends. Food & service is very good & excellent value & quality.
One small comment is it would be nice for drinks to be carried to the table by waiter/waitresses when moving from the waiting area to the table to eat?
This is the second time we have been to The Hawthorns and the food was really good on both visits
Always excellent, we have been three or four times since December and has been excellent every time, service is very good and choice and food has been great every time...
Lovely food really enjoyed the cheese pie. Room for prams
Many thanks both myself and my wife had a fantastic birthday meal
Although service was good, food was quite bland, lasagne and cheeses and spring onion pie were extremely well done, chips were burnt . Bill was incorrect by double and when pointed out was calculated incorrectly a second time, will not be visiting again
Friendly staff, but very poor food, lasagne lacked meat and flavour, cheese pie lacked seasoning, triple cooked chips were soggy, however the spaghetti carbonara was tasty, overall very disappointed and will not be returning.
Had a wonderful valentines dinner.. food was excellent.. service was excellent..atmosphere excellent.. highly recommend .. well done guys you are a great team x😊❤️
Excellent night out, food fantastic as was the service. Really can’t find fault and would recommend fir anyone to go
What can I say?
The place was packed so after being greeted at 8.20pm for our 8.30pm reservation we were asked to take a seat in the bar area.
At 8.50pm, despite many members of staff passing and looking at us, nobody had offered us a menu so my husband eventually flagged a waiter down and menus were brought.
At 9.05pm we ordered our food and the manager apologised for our wait and offered us drinks on the house. We were shown to our table shortly after.
The starters were brought out to us. I had camembert and my husband ordered field mushrooms in blue cheese sauce. Both were served with salad which was just a handful of leaves smothered in a generic wholegrain mustard dressing. My camembert came with two tiny, thin slices of ciabatta bread and cranberry jelly straight from the jar. The smell and taste of amonia from the camembert was so strong that I could eat no more than a tiny spoonful. My husband said his starter was disappointing with very little flavour.
Our plates were removed and 45 minutes later our main courses arrived.
My husband had ordered filet steak stroganoff with rice. At £17.00 he expected a little effort to have gone into the presentation but it was just white rice scooped into the dish and the stroganoff plonked on top. He found it both tough and tasteless. I had chosen the lasagne, again served with a handful of leaves smothered in dressing. We received a garlic bread, again on the house to compensate for the long wait. When I cut into my llasagne it was absolutely stone cold in the centre.
By this point it was after 10.00pm and we had both had enough. My husband went to the bar to tell the manager that we were leaving and that we were not prepared to pay. He didn't argue and apologised profusely. To be honest, the lad looked completely beaten.
Perhaps they were just having a bad night, having taken far too many bookings. However, food safety cannot be compromised on and under heated food is unforgivable.
The service was very good from the moment that we arrived. We were well looked after from being seated at the bar to our table. The food was good and represented good value.
Had a fab meal with family on Sunday. Lots of choice on the menu and we all really enjoyed what we picked. They happily substituted chips/potatoes for lovely fresh veg. Portions on the big side (garlic bread is amazing and huge!) so sadly no room to try desserts. Nice atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff.
Another great meal at the Hawthorns. Food great but what really makes it a cut above is the staff.
Really good value....participated in 2 for1 meerkat
Lovely staff, food fresh and well presented
The staff are really friendly and attentive. A superb team of people.
Went as part of a small group - everyone enjoyed their food and the service was excellent.
Going again soon. Thats how much we enjoyed it.
enjoyed celebrating our sons 21st birthday here
good meal, service & atmosphere
Very pleasant with a diverse menu. We would recommend for a burger or pizza.
Not very nice food, a bit bland, badly cooked meat.
Nice service, but no ambience.
Don’t think we’ll be back soon
Lovely meal for a family birthday, very well looked after, everyone enjoyed it young and old. x
Food was delicious. Portion sizes very good. Good variety on the menu. Staff very friendly. Decor was light and clean. Value for money.
Food was ok and Good value mainly down to the fact that we had a £15 voucher. However the restaurant was very busy and the service was slow as a result. The restaurant hhad a good ambience and was very nicely presented. The staff were polite and courteous and apologised for the delays in service.
very nice , food was good, wine a very reasonable price, will pay another visit soon
Lovely update with new owners varied menu and not too expensive. Beer vastly improved and food good quality.
The food at the Hawthorns is fabulous and we will definitely be going back.
Good value and very welcoming service, my little girl’s popcorn chicken would have been ok for an adult! (No charge for my little one) as a new business they are making a good effort - only recommendation would be to close the outer door as it can be chilly when people come in.
Excellent service. The waiter overheard us talking about it being a birthday meal for our 10 year old daughter.
They then put candles in her desert and sang to her.
Excellent service. Thank you very much, you made her night.
