The High Field
We serve food all day, along with quality draught beers, ale on hand pumps, plus a carefully chosen wine list with quality-variety value. Stay with us, just next door at The High Field Town House, or book The Studio for your next party, celebration or meeting.
Food was nice think drinks are overpriced though
Excellent food as always! Will definitely be coming back soon
Attended for Sunday Lunch.
Steak special recommended was cooked beautifully, the cut of the meat was poor quality. Hard to chew, bland. Nothing much that the staff could do, but they offered to check in with their suppliers. Vegetarian board sharing starter was tasty. Duck main was tasty. Organic Rioja was tasty. Just a bit disappointing with the steak.
Great food and service. The food portions were just right and we left feeling full and content.
Great food, lovely atmosphere, never disappoints! Staff very attentive.
I suggested that my team go here for our Christmas lunch as I have had some lovely breakfasts and lunches here before, but I was disappointed. One person's starter was late/forgotten, two of the mains weren't as ordered (one had requested no rocket, the other rare neither was the case) and then there was a hair in the dessert. It was such a shame as the cocktails and ambience were lovely, the service and welcome good and the place overall is one of the nicest. They did give us a glass of prosecco as an apology, which was a nice touch, but I was still a bit embarrassed having suggested it and it not being really what you'd hope for a circa £300 lunch. I'm hoping it was just due to it being the busy Christmas season, I will likely go back and try it again but I wouldn't recommend it before I've checked.
Dined off the Christmas menu which was excellent, very tasty and very good value for money. Lots of diners all having a good time, the atmosphere was fun and festive. Would highly recommend for a Christmas treat.
Great food, loved the cheese selection on the dessert menu. There were a couple of issues with service, our mains arrived before our starters were cleared and drinks were slow to arrive, but otherwise a great option for a lovely meal in a great atmosphere.
Always a favourite lunch venue. Delicious free range meats; and a great menu. The staff are excellent and have commitment to their customers.
Service was poor
They had run out of items on the menu
All in all poor quality of food
Great food and great service and fast too I didn't have to wait too long and food looked good and tasted good too and the special menu was good too
Modern Contemporary Bar & Restaurant. Friendly helpful Staff. Offered a few vegetarian options but on request made a very nice Vegan, Vegetarian Wellington.
Highly recommended. Would go again & again if we lived nearer.... (Torquay, Devon)
We have visited the Highfield on numerous occasions for lunch, dinner and Sunday lunch. Whilst the food was up to the usual high standards, the service on Monday evening was very poor. We had to ask for menus, I sat looking at our drinks sat on the bar wondering if they were ever going to be brought over and then watched a girl checking out her phone before asking whether our plated food was ready to take? Not sure what was going on with the staff, the service was seriously lacking.
Great brunch pre degree ceremony celebration.
Delicious and healthy!
As lovely as ever. First time I have taken a vegetarian friend and she wasn’t disappointed. Very good value with £15 loyalty email.
Always a lovely friendly vibe
A real find looking forward to our next visit great service and food
I accept that we were MUCH older than the rest of the clientele but the noise level was VERY high. It was very difficult for 5 of us on a very nice round table to hold a conversation. Food was good especially fish of the day.
Great staff, nice feel to the place and food was good value
Overall it was a great experience. The décor was beautiful, a lot of natural light coming through even though it wasn't a cloudy day. You'd expect the price to be higher from such a beautifully layed out environment as well but it wasn't. The set menu where you pick a starter and a lunch is around £13 which is a bargain compared to other lunch deals out there.
The only down side was there was a couple who came after us, ordered after us but got their starter+mains before ours. Other than that it was perfect
It all started with a fantastic service. Very friendly staff, very attentive. Loved the touch when the waiter brought out the stake recommendation, have only seen this in Gordon Ramsey TV shows. the food was simple and awesome. My husband loved the lobster and the beef was awesome as well. The stake with salad was heavenly. all in all very good experience, thanks!!
We decide to have a meal on the day so booked got the evening. We have previously been for a Sunday lunch
Lots of choice especially as a Thursday is fish night. We had a nice table & the service was very good. The food was excellent.....a really nice evening...the gin & tonics were great as well!
Been here several times for lunch and dinner. Also went on Boxing Day. Food and drink / cocktails always very good. Prompt and inobtrusive but friendly service. Lovely decor and clean. For dog owners, the plus is they are allowed in. Always a positive experience. Would recommend.
It was very nice, we were the only diners at one point but it was a Tuesday afternoon.
Waitress really helpful, bought us half a lemon with cloves in to help with wasps.
Food was nice - portions not to big.
The High Field has a lovely atmosphere, trendy, with outdoor space and nicely decorated. On this occasion, though, I chose Miso Aubergine from the Specials having forgotten that Miso is quite salty and I don't like a lot of salt so it was a poor choice on my part. Food was beautifully presented but I will select something else next time ... and there will be a next time!
Service was poor. I had to send the eggs Benedict back because the hollandaise was awful. I’d not go there for breakfast again.
Great Sunday lunch......Super value for quality offered....
Fab as always!
The chap who served us was superb
Funny knowledgeable helpful but not intrusive
Added greatly to our enjoyment of dinner
Amazing food...great service....The place has a super location and great atmosphere. Cant wait to return
Very good food and service, great environment, very clean and welcoming. Situated in a very nice area of Edgbaston. Highly recommend.
A second visit to the lovely High Field! This time was a lovely early evening birthday meal for dad’s 80th! A really nice ambience and in my godmother’s old family home where she was born and brought up.
Lovely service and our waitress was brilliant - and attentive when needed. A good menu selection and good wine! They were able to cater to a youngster with rather fussy food fads! They were even happy and helpful to bring in a birthday cake that we sneaked in for the occasion. As the night wore on, it was eventually busy with Saturday evening revellers enjoying the bar and outside terrace. Highly recommended.
Bit expensive for the food you get. Very busy.
Excellent customer service here as always. Team were happy to put back our table for an hour to accommodate latecomers. First day of the new menu and the staff were knowledgeable about the dishes and able to recommend. Food was fresh and well presented and there was a nice buzz for a midweek get together with friends. Recommended!
Well we were 4 girls, only had one course and table was booked for 8... sat down a bit late as had drink, so prob nearly 8.30. Only ordered main and served at 10pm!!!
Totally ridiculous and we were so fed up waiting - I had veg risotto which only had peas and weird bean things - cud have had all delicious and colourful veg, especially this time of year so was pretty boring to be honest. I love the Highfield but this was pretty disappointing... hopefully next time is better :)
Not very impressed. The main course was tepid and served on barely warm plates. Then, having given us dessert menus, the waiting staff made no attempt to take our order for desserts. Eventually we had to wave at one of them to get some attention.
The restaurant was very noisy and so not really conducive to conversation, which is one of the points of going out.
All in all, not what I would expect. We paid our bill and left. We shall not be back.
I have visited the highfield on a few occasions now and have never been disappointed. The sunday dinnrr sss fabulous, the wine perfect, the gin delicious and the ambience perfect.
As a long standing patron of the high field I feel pained to leave a bad review.....but
We had a twilight zone experience - seems they took on a load of new staff who were poorly trained, couldn’t even use the till properly to place our food order and smashing glassware every 5 minutes.
Food order came twice and when I tried to pay the bill had to explain how the tab system worked to the person behind the bar! (Customer training the bar staff - not good).
The bill was wrong too so had to get that corrected.
All the tables were not being cleared leaving filthy dishes everywhere
Granted it was a busy service but no excuse for this level of incompetence - please, please, please fix ASAP - I want come back but not while it is in it’s current state :-(
A good venue and always enjoy going there for lovely food.
