Excellent food and attentive service even though the restaurant was full for Mother’s Day. We were a big party of 11 and everyone was very appreciative of the food and friendly efficient staff.
Can't fault it. We live in Highworth and had said we needed to try The Highworth at some point. Our wedding anniversary on Sunday 17th March presented itself as a good occasion and we booked for the Sunday lunch. Welcomed to the hotel, staff were very attentive and the lunch was lovely. Will definitely visit again for something else.
The Highworth hotel looked after us very well. Good value and a great menu
We didn’t bother with a starter and went straight for main course. The belly pork with black pudding and Savoy cabbage was all nicely cooked but the gravy was too salty. We ordered sweet potato fries as a side, again very nice. For dessert creme brûlée.....yummy! Excellent service and altogether a lovely evening.
Lovely relaxing break.....it was lovely time....nothing too much trouble
Booked for afternoon tea and made to feel told off because booking was made online. Absolutely appalling service. Not checked on once. Selection of tea, cake etc was very minimal.
The Highworth provided an excellent place to celebrate my wife's birthday. Excellent service. Food was excellent. Best steak I have ever had!! Have no hesitation in recommending The Highworth to others.
Having eaten there a few times over the past few years we knew that the food would be good, and it was, but the service that we received was very poor.
We arrived on time and elected to forego a drink at the bar before eating, explaining to the waiter that we were going to have a bottle of wine with lunch.
We were seated in the dining room, taking the last table, and remarked that it was nice to have a full room, with different conversations and general background noises.
It went downhill from there, as we sat there for a full twenty minutes without being approached by anyone, and the room gradually cleared.
Just as we had decided to walk out, I was asked if I was ready to order, to which I replied by asking if they were joking! It was explained to me that they were busy, and I said that I was pleased for them, but did not think that being left for twenty minutes without a word of explanation was very good customer service and that if we had been told on arrival that they were busy, we would had a drink in the bar before lunch in order to take the strain off them.
We then had our Sunday lunch and wine promptly served, but any feelings of goodwill had already left us.
No reception on arrival. Had to ask to go to our table. Cold room. Not offered wine or wine list. Felt as though we were putting them out. Food was fine.
Good standard of food with generous portions, prompt attentive staff. Pity the special desert which sounded very good had run out. Minor hiccup with the bill which was quickly addressed
We went to the Highworth for my husband's birthday. The food and service were excellent and we were in our own small dining room which was lovely. Would definitely recommend this and will be going in future for Sunday lunch.
The table we had was in the conservatory which was great although the door to the garden was off of this and continually left open. Food was excellent although I did think the roast potatoes had been deep fried. Had 3 courses which were all very good.
Food and service were excellent, had a singer/guitarist on too who was brilliant and created a very relaxed atmosphere, highly recommend and will definitely return.
Fabulous experience. We had a large booking for a birthday meal. Experienced no faults throughout the evening.
Both food and staff were excellent! Highly recommended
A group of six friends - dining as a 'thank you'. The first courses were amazing, very good value and really nice. The main course was disappointing, not in quality, but in quantity. Those who had chosen roast pork had two meagre, thin slices each. The trout was also a very small fillet. The chicken dish, however was plentiful and delicious. We were given one dish of mixed vegetables between the six of us, however the two fish dishes already contained some beans. There was also a dish of cauliflower cheese, which was enough. We noticed that other tables, some serving only two diners had the same amount of vegetables served. We did not leave hungry as there were sufficient potatoes etc and we did not complain as we were there as guests of our friends and we did not want to embarrass them. Overall we were happy with the value and meal, but would hope for more generous servings of roast meat, fish and vegetables next time.
Second visit for Sunday Roast and we were not disappointed as food was excellent and good value at £15 for two courses. Staff friendly and welcoming and we were invited to have a drink in the bar before lunch. Service could have been quicker as table booked for 1.45 but waited about 45 minutes for our meal. Didn't mind as catching up with group of friends and we could see that they were busy with a large party. Would recommend.
Apart from having to give our booking details three times at the beginning and finding someone in the bar who eventually took charge everything else was good. it was our first time there and we were looking to use for family in the future. Value for money excellent, food lovely and lots of veg. It would have been nice to be offered butter for the bread with the prawn cocktail as the lady on the next table was but, that's minor. Will definitely go back and have already recommended to friends.
Really great food , and 'tweaking' of the menu to suit is possible, which is always a great sign of everything being fresh and cooked from scratch.
We enjoyed the Live Band, the only negative is that they kept the recorded music going both in the bar and in the restuarant ,which spoilt our live music enjoyment whilst we dined...though we got to enjoy it afterwards for the rest of the evening.
Took my Mum for a lovely Sunday lunch.Great food, lovely staff.
Arrived early but was still shown to our table. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent value for money and the restaurant was very well presented. Retired to the garden afterwards for after dinner drinks which was very pleasant.
I recommend this place for Sunday lunch fantastic value, fantastic staff. Great cocktails. We were put in the small room on our own and it was cosy. Loved every minute of it.
We made our reservation with Open Table. When we arrived the waitress told us we had cancelled our booking. It seems they received a cancellation and marked the wrong reservation! Service was slow and poor. Food & wine was excellent, restaurants ambiance very good. Would visit again but would ring to make reservation next tine.
First visit for catch up with friends. Good service, good food, nice decor etc. We'll be back.
Just be careful trying to park behind building as v.tight archway/tunnel if you have large vehicle.
