The Hinds Head
Excellent food and lets face it, that’s what we went for. Marked the Service down because it took 15-20 minutes after being seated before we were asked if we’d like drinks. In my experience it normally happens at the point of being seated or being presented with Menus. I think she might have had something else on her mind. The Waiter sorted that out when he came to take the food order. As said, we went to eat on recommendation and we weren’t disappointed with the food, it was excellent and generously portioned. Value for Money marked down, the soft drinks are expensive, glass of lemonade £3.50!!
Would definitely go back though.
The food was good but the prices were gastropub high. The evening was let down by the general customer experience. Our table wasn’t ready so we were asked to get a drink and wait in the bar area. There was no room. A group of 6 had wrapped themselves around 90% of the bar area which was compounded by a large loud man ooshing us further into the 10% because he wanted to stand by the bar talking to the party of 6. When we were seated by the table the food came fairly quickly. We had completed our 2 courses within 30 minutes of sitting down. We had a bit of a wait for the bill, and when it came they had omitted our drinks, so it needed re doing. Furthermore, the young waitress didn’t know how to process the meal voucher we had tendered. What made the customer experience poor, was being told that they couldn’t refund the difference between the voucher and the meal price, so we would have to take drinks instead, but we only had 10 minutes to vacate the table as they had somebody else who wanted it. Thank god we didn’t want pudding!! We were halfway through our drinks when we were asked to move. “ If you hurry up, you can have the seats the people waiting are in, but you will have to be quick.” We had had enough by this point and just left. We were there an hour for what was supposed to be an ambient gastro pub meal and had to make way for another booking. We felt rushed and pushed out. The waiting staff need some input on customer service as well. I was continually called mate by a young lady old enough to be my grand daughter!!
The first time here was great, second time quite good, third, OK &....this time, the noodles were hard, with way to much sauce and the chips were cold. Service is always very pleasant, but we waited at least 30 minutes for dessert (last time 20 minutes - it's awkward!) & then were only served after reminding staff that we were waiting. It's made us think twice about returning....it's a shame when I've recommended to friends...
Food was good but the tables are far too close together and you can easily hear everyone's conversation. Tables are tightly packed so guests were knocking into people. Half the restaurant the seating was better. Not sure I would go again but the food and service was good.
Excellent food and really great attentive staff, always smiling.
Fantastic food, staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again x
Lovely meal at lunch time. Welcoming friendly staff, food delicious. Would recommend
Delicious food, lovely warm friendly atmosphere. Clean and cosy inside. Our waitress was really helpful and knowledgeable about vegan options. 1 starter came out a little later than the others and we had to wait a couple of minutes for cutlery to be replaced after starters once our mains were out. Other than that couldn’t fault it. Overall a brilliant night and we will be returning. Thank you :)
My wife and I enjoyed our meal at the Hinds Head restaurant I had the mussels my wife had a Sunday dinner we have ate there on more than one occasion and found the food and service to be very good I would also recommend reserving a table at the weekend
Amazing food and service, highly recommended, creamy wild mushroom starter was gorgeous and stuffed chicken with mash potatoes was amazing, will definitely be going again
