We may have chosen the wrong night, but the service was very very slow. The food was excellent when we got it, although the kitchen ran out of batter for the onion ring - how can you do that? The layout of the restaurant area does not allow for easy conversation. We may try for a lunch another time, but will not be back for dinner.
Right on our doorstop so an ideal place to pop out to eat. We have eaten here on a number of occasions. The only downside I would say is on odd occasion that can let the side down is speed of service - 45 minute wait is pushing things a bit & lacks a bit of proactiveness in keeping you informed . Can't fault food however so will definitely be back.
One of the best Sunday lunches we’ve had in a pub. All 12 of us agreed. Prompt service
Could do with more veg less red cabbage but a part from that good value.
Great value Sunday lunch with good quality ingredients. Would definitely recommend and we will return to sample the menu again.
Great pub and great staff. Only let down by the food which is slightly mediocre for the price.
Met some friends on what turned out to be burger night! Win win, great burger and fantastic white chocolate cheesecake. Great Gin selection too. Nice ambience and good service/hospitality. Recommended x
Love the Hollybush. Best pub in the area. Always great food, especially the Sunday roast.
And lovely wine. Staff are great as well. Highly recommend ..
Have previously used this restaurant and found the food to be reliably tasty and well presented, however it seems that there has been a change in the kitchen as the food on this occasion was well below average and may well prevent me returning for a while. Shame, as it was always a 'go-to' location.
I thought the meal was very good as always The plates always come out very hot and the food always Comes out hot and excellent Well presented staff are always friendly
Went for Sunday lunch. Brilliant as always and walkable from our home. Well done Hollybush.
Very pleasant family lunch. Food was hot and very tasty.
Wonderful delicious food, never disappoints. Friendly staff, highly recommended .
Great food been here a few times now never fails to deliver 😁
Very busy lively pub and good atmosphere. Can take a while for food and service when busy. But nice friendly waiting staff. Food is good but not great. But nice pub, nice staff good parking and clean toilets. Would recommend as good local for a drink or food. Didn’t have the option to tip when paying with card machpine which was disappointing as rarely have cash - the service was worthy of a tip. Would be helpful to know waiting staff names so thanks could be passed on. Thank you.
Thursday night before Bank Holiday - busy & vibrant!
Pre booked & was shown to a quieter area in a nice spot.
Service (Estee) & food was fantastic, as well as the wine.
We will be returning to this little gem soon.
Unfussy homemade food, we were slightly late , but made to feel welcome.Wonderfull gravey. And sticky toffee pudding to die for.
We've visited several times now & always enjoyable. This however had to be the best food to date.
I love this place, good food, good service, friendly faces and good prices.
of the four meals ordered the healthy option curry had to much liquid although tasty the recipient asked for a portion of rice and was told that was not possible but was offered chips, my salmon on crushed potato with broccoli was poor value and the salmon was overcooked and dry, the other meals were acceptable
Food and service was fantastic. Great to see it so busy just proves how great the food is. The only thing that spoilt it for us was the noise !!! Could not here our selves talk !! So loud.
Would defiantly come back but not on a Friday or Saturday night .
I have eaten at the Hollybush at lunchtimes on many occasions but this was the first evening meal that I had had there and I was not disappointed. The menu had a good choice which included simple 'pub' type meals as well as more restaurant type meals. The food was beautifully cooked and excellent, and the service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely go there again. Thank you for supporting a lovely evening!
This was our first visit to the Hollybush, we were very impressed.
Good atmosphere, food and staff excellent I would highly recommend to anyone we will certainly be returning.
Took my mother to the Hollybush for Mothering Sunday. Had a Lovely time, although a little disappointed that I was unable to have my preferred starter as it was already off the menu and it was only 12:30 PM!
We couldn’t hear ourselves speak due to the noise, but understandable as it was a special occasion and large family’s were present.
We would certainly return on a future ocassion.
Been here a couple of times and enjoyed both visits. Food is very good
The best carvery around, great staff, attentive but not overpowering, not rushed and made to feel very welcome.
Booked the Hollybush for a family meal for my husbands 40th. Group ranged from 5 - 69 years old with a gluten intolerant person to add to the mix (me)! Everyone found something they liked the look of and when the food came nobody was disappointed. The options for a gluten free diet were amazing and it was sooooo nice to be able to have calamari as it was made with rice flour - Well done, it was delicious.
Wine and beer went down a treat and the kids food options were fab.
Would definitely recommend for any occasion and for those with food intolerances. I tried the GF brownie for pudding which was a bit disappointing but that was the only thing I wouldn't order again and that was just down to personal taste.
Lovely place, fab service and really really good food.
Excellent food and service, highly recommended. the Sea Bass was cooked to perfection.
Lovely place with lovely food. Very cosy and good service
Really nice relaxed venue with great staff and great food. Will be going back next month.
Sunday lunch. Lovely!!
Good pub food and atmosphere . Lively pub.Definitely return
Lovely atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. Worth a visit
Fabulous food thanks it was a wonderful birthday lunch
This is purely subjective and down to my affection for country pubs. I love nothing better than an open fire and a warm nook for a quiet Sunday lunch. So was a bit disappointed that the restaurant area was open plan..Huge glass windows and really lacking in the sort of atmosphere I’m usually after. Again if that’s the sort of dining experience you prefer then it could be a positive for some folks. The service was excellent and they were very understanding when we asked to be moved to the bar area. The Roast itself was well executed but I would struggle to recommend the pork belly. (If you’re like me and the main event is the crackling, it was flabby and inedible) My son had the chicken and it looked great.. Other points of interest. They have a pet lizard?? Also they were running a gin of the week promo... The barman advised it was dry and herbal, rather than overly sweet. So x5 stars for the staff on product knowledge. Overall, not my kind of place but I can see how it would appeal to some. Thanks for the great CS.
Very happy with our delicious Sunday lunch on the weekend - quick and attentive service from the lovely staff who clearly care about the quality of the experience for the customers. Relaxed atmosphere, easy to chat and enjoy our meal. Really like the open cooking area and the split levels and different areas.
All good and nice and local. Good choice of beer and wine. Good pub atmosphere but food is better than pub grub
Really enjoyed our meal out on Friday night. Service was good - staff knew the answers to our questions about the dishes. Quality of the dishes was excellent and we really enjoyed the specials. A good bottle of wine too. We were really impressed and I'm sure will return.
Great food, great service!! Went the extra mile for us while we were there, it was our 1st wedding anniversary and they more than happy to do a special pudding for us with writing in chocolate sauce:)
Love it here! It's our favourite local resturant/pub always relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff! Food is yum!
