Closed for several years, we opened in March 2014 after a major refurbishment. We’re everything you’d wish a country pub to be we have great beer ( 5 real ales, 4 ciders & 5 lagers) , extensive gin list with over 40 types of gin, hand picked wine list and cocktails.
Our restaurant serves classic home cooked dishes using local and seasonal produce. Our meat, veg and fish is delivered fresh everyday and you can sit in comfort in the restaurant and watch our chefs at work in our open plan kitchen.
Delicious Sunday lunch, big portions, fresh, tasty, couldn't fault it!
We have dined at the Holly Bush on a previous occasion when we had Sunday Lunch, it was lovely but the food was completely cold when it was served.
On this occasion, the food was lovely, my starter of black pudding and poached egg, however, was only slightly warm when served. My main course, sea bass was very good and I am now converted to eating sweet potato!
We will certainly visit again as it is a lovely venue.
Limited menu choice and quite expensive. Very lively pub with a lot wide age range. Disappointing menu choice however.
This was my first visit to the Hollybush and I was very impressed. The waitress had just the right approach - friendly but no over familiar and her knowledge of the menu and recommendations was superb. The food was fresh and hot and delicious. I was meeting family and one of our party was a small child. The child's needs were met fully as well.
the food was good but the night spoilt by two very noisy tables. It was impossible to have a conversation with out raising your voice
We had a nice evening. Although when we arrived it felt like they weren't expecting us. It appears there was a new chef started that day. The menu online had changed due to new chef so the dish I had planned was not an option. A small menu so I had the veggie option which was nice but expensive for what it was.
Excellent food, with heathy option. Had a great family get together
This was a meal to celebrate my birthday as we had visited the previous month and really liked it. Sadly, my husband had a hair in his meal & my son had the healthy option jambalaya which was served in a Kilner jar and was overpriced and inadequate. It was runny and not worth the price, very poor indeed. I requested that those 2 main meals were removed from the bill and this was done without hesitation. Overall, my fellow diners left hungry & it ruined my birthday as the venue had been my suggestion. Really like the decor, service and ambiance of this pub but sadly the food was not up to standard in this occasion.
We’ve recently moved to the area and have heard of the Hollybush from friends. The ambience was great, the food was exquisite, and the drinks were perfect. A great selection of beer, gin and wine. The staff were more than welcoming. Would highly recommend!!!
Outstanding food with an impeccable warming welcoming vibe! Defiantly will be returning time and time again!
Had a lovely evening with good friends. Food and atmosphere very good.
Friendly and accommodating pub with an excellent menu.
Booking was easy, service was OK for my party , but could understand if comments were made about it being slow. At the the time there was at least two other meetings of minimum 12 people in each.
The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble even though they were very busy.
Meals were served hot and enjoyed by all.
Always a warm welcome with good friendly service, relaxing atmosphere, gentle background music, real ales and very good quality food.
Too noisey like sitting in public bar poor waitress service
I have eaten at the Holly Bush before and enjoyed the food. However the meal I chose this time was bland and uninspiring. The service and surroundings were fine.
Another excellent Sunday lunch. Although it was 4.00pm the food still tasted freshly cooked.
Staff brilliant and all in walking distance!
Great food as always. Shame a few options on the menu wasn’t available however didn’t ruin anything and the food we ate was delicious.
Food was presented nicely but had no flavour and was cold
As it's very much on our doorstep we've never been disappointed - on this occasion some of the dishes were a little bland - the hake & chorizo dish had a tomato 'sauce' with it which just tasted of tomato puree & the accompanying prawns were overcooked. Puds & starters & the other mains all good, good beer & vino & good table to catch up with old friends. Service was better this time too as can wait a bit too long for food on some visits. Definitely be back.
Nice setting, good food but waited over 30 minutes before food arrived which was the only negative
Lovely food and service and good value too👌👌😍👌😍👌😍👌🛣👌😍😍😍😍👌😍😍😍😍😍😍😍⛪️⛪️⛪️⛪️⛪️⛪️⛪️
Very nice evening. Excellent food and very attentive service.
Thank you to James and all his energetic and friendly staff, great food and a great night. James I
The best Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time. We’ll definitely be back.
This was a family Sunday lunch. The service was attentive - but not overly so -and the meal was tasty and we enjoyed it very much.
The standard of food is excellent, that is the reason we eat with you.
Apart from the starter taking 45 minutes would definitely go again and recommend.
Waitresses very good and friendly cosey atmosphere
Good food at reasonable price, but spoilt by long wait for starter and main (90 mins before main served). Appreciate pub was busy but some awareness may have helped (whisper quietly maybe some bread and olives or free drink may have alleviated wait). Kitchen appeared under sized/staffed for number of customers. So coming away I remember the wait rather than the quality of food...
We came for my husbands birthday. The food was delicious and the service was great. I think we’ll visit again
Amazing place, great food - Can’t wait to come back!
I have been here on a few occasions and every time I’m disappointed 😞 the food is very good but the service is atrocious last night there was only two other tables with customers and two waitresses who just hung around the kitchen, I had to call out to one of them just to get our food ordered. My drink was served in a dirty lipstick covered glass. All in all not the greatest experience and will not be returning as fed up with being ignored by staff. The only saving grace was the young lad behind the Bar who was very helpful and sorted the dirty glass immediately with a fresh drink. Such a shame as could be a fab place to go if only the waiting staff were more attentive.
The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient. The restaurant was very hot and a little uncomfortable (we were sat by a window on a hot day) even though there was a blind - that I did pull down I feel it needed more air circulating and they obviously have a wasp problem. Small complaints that wouldnt stop me returning.
I had the lamb which was the best I’d had in a long time. It was beautifully tender and a lovely flavour.
Food was lovely and the staff very friendly and polite
Very pleased with the whole experience. Easy booking. Was expected even though we were early. Lovely round table for 4. Nice cocktails and good wine list. Perfect food but unable to taste the sweets as too full, but will try next time. Would recommend.
Fish and chips worse I have ever had, so greasy I had to leave the batter, and this made the chips soggy, such a long wait we almost cancelled also grumpy staff
Will not return
First time booking through the Open Table website, really easy to use and great place to eat with helpful attentive staff.
Great food, small but interesting menu, friendly, helpful and attentive staff
Had the duck salad starter which was very disappointing as there was very little duck.
