the Hook & Plow - Redondo Beach
server very nice but actual service slow, think the kitchen bogged down.
It was nice to be out and enjoyed the evening. I don't go out often due to the pandemic and am very picky on what restaurant I select. And it turned out to be very pleasant experience. However two comments...we sat at a small table closest to the sidewalk and the table leaned to the left like a boat slowly sinking. It was due to the flooring being on an angle. It was super distracting and was not particularly pleasant. I felt like my drink was going to slide right off the table. And in addition to this, the women behind me was super close - not social distanced at all. The back of her chair was hitting the back of my chair. The tables in that row were way too close to each other and not just enough room. We asked for another table and thankfully there was one available so we moved. The waiter was very accommodating regarding the move. But to be totally transparent, we would have left if we couldn't move, as it would not have been an enjoyable evening for me to endure these two issues.
Paul really saved the show here. I would definitely return for his excellent customer service. But my major complaint is the flies! I must’ve been bitten a dozen times from sitting there and everyone around us was also experiencing the same problem. We even saw another diner go and get off spray for how bad it was! We eventually put our feet up and we’re good to go but boy we will never sit on the grass patio section again. Food was alright, but Paul’s service was what my boyfriend and I walked away still talking highly of as we went to the car.
Maddie was the absolute best server. She was so sweet and attentive. Food was to die for . Highly recommend
Food was only ok -> oysters were the best part. Catch of the day was nicely cooked however sat atop a bow
If grease cited farro that was inedible. Ambience was nice and worked nicely for our table of 5. Service was pleasant but very slow. Would not go again.
The staff was amazing and very accommodating. The food was fresh and unique.
Fantastic service and food. Friendly host let me pick my table, everyone was super friendly and the food is bar none. We had the cheddar biscuits, charcuterie plate, poke, peach & butters salad, and burgers. Loved it all, especially the cheddar biscuits. Would definitely go back.
Food was good, service was Meh and none of the service staff was NOT masked up in or out…we felt uncomfortable TBH
Wonderful! The manager Sylvia was fun and knew how to listen to our needs! (As in what drink sounded good)
Food was delicious and different!
The brussel sprouts were completely undercooked and hard. Not what I am used to. The chicken I had was delicious but the rest of the items in the entree weren't really the greatest.
I'll go back but seems like something is off. I'm adding that I would go back, but I might go to the one in Hermosa. I've always had a good experience there.
Always great experience!
Good food and friendly service but servers not wearing masks, even inside and this made us uncomfortable.
Good service, great food. Everything was done in a timely manner and server was very knowledgeable.
Service and food were excellent! It did tend to get very loud towards end of our evening. We sat outdoors.
Loved this spot!!! So yummy, the peach buratta salad w scallops were insane! Marlene was super sweet as well as the whole staff and got a res easy on Sunday. Can’t wait to be back!
Overall a great place for brunch. Server was awesome.
Was defiantly not worth the price the food was not good
Loved the location and view of passers by. Food was excellent! Unfortunately our server was sweet but sub par. Never checked on food or drinks, never offered tea refills, took 30+ mins between 1st and 2nd courses. Food was delicious though.
The food was mediocre, so that was disappointing given the price points. Cocktails were okay but they don’t have a full liquor license, so their liquors are lower alcohol % grade. Over-priced all around. Atmosphere is what you pay for, I’d recommend trying the other restaurants on Catalina.
Great food if you're a seafood eater! Wonderful space to sit outside.
Service was a little slow at times but was very good. Food was delicious, my kids loved what they ate. Pricy but great vacation dinner for us.
Good time with my friends for brunch in 4th of July !
Went for Sunday Brunch. The food was delicious. I had the crab cake and was favorably impressed. It can be difficult to find a crab cake that isn't filled with bell pepper or something like that. This one was just crab (and seasonings). My companion had the 3 egg brunch and was just as satisfied. The service was cheerful and fairly prompt. We will definitely re-visit.
The staff was friendly and made us feel so welcome.
This location is lacking. The location in Hermosa Beach is terrific. Redondo Beach location is quite mediocre by comparison.
We love this place! Originally we were in Hermosa all the time. But happy to be at this location too
Food was delicious! We had the
Great food. Great vibe. Really slow service.
Very good experience here. Food was outstanding and it didn't really break the bank either.
experience was OK -- food was good -- seafood fresh and properly cooked, but not exceptional -- servers were a little uninformed -- probably will retry in a year
My fiance and I were unhappy with the overall service we received. The food took almost two hours to come out and it was not spectacular.
We will not be visiting again.
We went for Father’s Day for lunch and they were extremely busy and seemed quite overwhelmed. With that said, our server told us the meals were taking about 40 minutes. We had a baby and toddler with us so we ordered right away. Even though they were busy the server still took great care of us. The food came out sooner than expected and was delicious. The ambiance was lovely and lively and they were very accommodating of the kids! I would definitely go back.
Fathers Day brunch
The food was great everything we ordered was delicious.
are server was really nice and friendly. I will definitely be back!!!!
Great Father’s Day dinner. Appetizers and desert especially good.
very overpriced. took 15 min to get seated after our res time even though there were a lot of empty spaces for us.
Went on a Friday night for a friend meetup. A table was really easy to get despite the restaurant being busy. It was super loud on the covered patio so my friend and I opted to sit inside, and it was just as loud. I have no problem with fun and loud energy, but I wasn’t expecting it and really wanted to talk to my friend to catch up. We ordered scallops and furikake fries as a start, and both were alright. They sounded great on the menu, but the flavor wasn’t on point like it could have been. Our entrees were pretty good though. I had the fish/catch of the day. Overall like a 4/5 stars.
Casual food with great taste
Great food, a bit noisy- but overall great vibes :)
