Amazing overall experience, great food and atmosphere. The waiter even turned the heating up when I had mentioned I was cold. The eat out to help out scheme was still applicable to the food however I would happily pay full price as it was delicious. Will definitely be returning after lockdown.

An awful experience. Slow service. No cutlery presented for starters. Nobody around to ask.
Sunday lunch was served from the kitchen with staff shouting over to the floor staff, moving big plastic containers with food around. Lunch was cold.
Drinks took far too long to come, and for the price you expect a better service. When queried they said they would remove from the bill.
Certain drinks not available. I think having other food on in addition to the Sunday lunch is a bad move as it just confuses things and probably impacts the service.
Dessert was dry.
No service once meal was finished , after 20 mins we had to go up and pay the bill at the section where the kitchen staff were shouting and talking with the staff.
Awful experience. Such a shame as it was the first time eating here.

As a company we pride ourselves on brilliant service and indulgent food, from you review I can see this hasn't been the case and can only assume this as a one off. Our Sunday dinners are usually one of the best in the city, so it has surprised me that this wasn't the case on your visit. It was our second visit to The Hudson, perfect Sunday lunch , attentive staff. Food was outstanding.
Food was lovely but the service spoilt our experience, although we had booked a table for 8:15, the kitchen closed without giving us any notice so we couldn’t get a dessert or even a coffee after our mea - It was only 9:15pm. I would have felt a lot more positive about the experience if a member of staff had just said the kitchen is closing will you want anything else or be told on arrival that if you want a coffee or dessert you need to order before a certain time.
Hi Luci, I am glad to hear you enjoyed your food, I do apologize that you were unable to finish your experience with one of our desserts and not being told that the kitchen is closing, is something that shouldn't be happening. I have spoken to all staff on that shift to make sure they understand the following procedure, which they clearly didn't follow on the night. First time at the Hudson, we enjoyed food in the restaurant and then some drinks in the bar. Lovely place, food was amazing as were the drinks and really good value for money, did not disappoint! Staff really in control where Covid-19 is concerned, tables spaced far enough out and signage on the floor and walls, one way system in place. Can’t wait to go back!!

Upon arrival we were informed that the restaurant was closed and only the bar area open, which wasn't suitable for a business lunch. Very disappointing, had to then book elsewhere.

This was our second visit to The Hudson and the experience was excellent. Once we headed into the restaurant the waiting staff informed us that we were the only ones booked in as the hotel had moved their guests to another hotel. The fact that they honoured our booking despite there being no one else in was outstanding customer service. The food was excellent and we will definitely return.
Great Sunday dinner and felt socially distanced and comfortable at table. Staff polite and friendly. Moved through to bar area for afternoon drinks.

Lovely meal at the Hudson on Saturday night. Staff were very nice and friendly. Unfortunately due to the 10pm curfew the bar and restaurant were very quiet. Such a shame as this is a very good place - hope it survives the economic fall out of the pandemic!
Lovely evening with fine food, would like a little more choice on the menu though.
Have eaten in the bar a few times and the staff and the did has always been great, decided to book the restaurant for my daughters 21st birthday and have to say I was a little disappointed.
The food was lovely but my daughters birthday was not acknowledged in any way. There was 6 of us and spent quite a bit, didn’t want a showstopper but a drink or a desert and a happy Birthday would of been nice, especially as I had informed the restaurant
Sunday Lunch was delicious and very generous portions.
Visited for the first time on Saturday and couldn’t fault the place, stunning decor and interior, staff were absolutely brilliant, in particular our server Kally was superb, she had such a lovely manner, she was polite and attentive we really liked her! The food was amazing! And the cocktails were absolutely beautiful, my friend said the pornstar martini was the best she’d ever had. I would definitely come back, and I’d recommend it as somewhere to friends and family.
Took my mother for birthday lunch the food was fabulous and the waitress was very attentive and lovely
When you first walk in the atmosphere is buzzing and we were excited, but we were soon passed to another member of staff to sit in the restaurant which had a very dull atmosphere.
Wait staff were lovely natured but management or training seems to be completely non existent. No one knew where to seat us despite the restaurant being pretty empty and our table being pre booked, no one seemed to know what was going on, we were repeatedly asked our food order when we’d already given it, we had no cutlery at table when food arrived, staff didn’t know the very small menu, etc.
We both really didn’t like our cocktails at all which is surprising because I always love a cocktail so was a bit gutted.. however the one course we did have was lovely.
We made the most of it but chose to have one course only and spend money elsewhere. The whole meal was due to cost us under £50 and they charged us over £70. I did try and say I didn’t agree with the pricing but it fell on deaf ears and I gave up at this point. We were told management would fix it but they didn’t. Messaged them and they said they would refund me but doubt they will. They based their ‘service’ charge on the wrong price and they didn’t even offer to take that to what it should have been either !!! Even if I was refunded for the food I didn’t have, they’ve still made extra money off that in the service charge!!
As I said the front of house is lovely but the restaurant part leaves a lot to be desired. The wall of the booths were absolutely filthy and both the couples next to us were discussing their disgust.
Really disappointed with how they handled everything, how messy everything seemed to be and the cleanliness or lack of.
I felt robbed of my money here and I certainly won’t be back. Scam of a place.
Lovely food..waitress was attentive but not over the top.
Table wasn’t ready and drinks were quite slow but we ordered 2 cocktails so was understandable! Staff were really polite and lovely, but would have liked our table in the bar to be free when we arrived. Thank you!

Very expensive and clearly not sticking to the lockdown rules, 2 couples sitting together, clearly not from the same house or university dorm.

I had mussels to start and the linguine for main. However I do feel some of the seafood linguine was off, I couldn’t finish it. I was severely ill for 2 days after visiting the restaurant. I will not be returning.

Waited until we had ordered a bottle of Prosecco and ordered our starters before being told the kitchen shut in 5 mins and we had to order our mains. We should have been given this information when we booked our table and not after we had ordered fizz and starters. Ended up going back to Marco Pierre Whites where we had ate the previous evening and were given another warm welcome. Would highly recommend

Sat at a table to the left of the door. Waited for table service. Waited so long that we didn’t stay for a second drink.
Visited a month ago for drinks only and really enjoyed the good vibes it gave. On returning to Newcastle for a weekend we booked in for meal. Could not fault the place at all, everything was spot on especially our food and our server for the night a young girl who was so attentive and pleasant, will definitely return again.
The service is worse than poor. Too long to take the order for drinks, left waiting for the wine to arrive for over 20 minutes. Ordered starters and main. From ordering starters to receiving mains was over an hour. 3 other tables that came in after were served quicker than us and we had to keep asking the waitress what was happening. It wasn’t very busy. I can appreciate during these uncertain times it is difficult with all the rule changes etc but with less customers in at any one given time, you would expect the level of service to increase rather than get worse. They did take money off of the bill, however it did ruin the night having the table booked for 18:30 and not leaving until 21:50 due to all of the delays. Lovely place, great food but service was very poor
We did not have food just drinks but the service was very good and atmosphere was nice
As soon as we arrived the standards were already high , the staff were super friendly also I mentioned it was my boyfriends birthday and they made sure we got a really nice table, it’s little things like that that make it special
The prices were very reasonable which was amazing as the food was absolutely stunning ,I had the Hudson breakfast and my boyfriend got eggs Royale and eggs Benedict which he said was gorgeous!
The staff then brought over a little birthday plate over with little slices of what I think was cheesecake ,again very delicious!
Overall a lovely experience would highly recommend and go back soon (:
Waiter spilt gravy from the dinner over my partners coat and he wasn’t very apologetic
This is my 4th visit but first with my husband and little girl. Felt safe and clean everywhere. Staff were very friendly and attentive as always. Food was delicious and husband was impressed too and said he would come back. Little girl tried everything too. High chairs available and baby changing facilities.
