The Hurt Arms
Lovely carvery as always 😊
The veg on the carvery was raw, to the point that the green beans had just just come out the packet as was the cabbage, never seen water. Coke was flat and the lemonade had ran out so just got soda water. The burger bun was stale and they forgot the chicken for the fajitas. The setting is lovely, just need to improve on the food.
Yes I would recommend but I would not reccomend the lamb madras curry! It was dreadful
Staff were friendly service was ok it was busy the time we was there so staff didn’t check on us
Steak could of been cooked a little more
Some veg being on offer to go with the steak would of been nice
A very enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings. The service was good and the staff very welcoming. We will return in the future.
Burger was good, sweet potato fries were spot on, however did not enjoy the mac and cheese side the “cheese sauce” was more of a white sauce with cheese melted on top. Our server was great, we didn’t catch her name but made the experience a lot of fun.
Generous Lunch at the Hurt Arms. Large Fish with chips and peas, might be good to have a smaller set of dishes at lunchtime, it was the standard menu. Good to have a large choice, but quite pricey.
One of the best Sunday carvery's I've had. The guy on the carvery was very helpful and knowledgeable. We are definitely going to book another meal here
The food we had was very good however there were a few problems.
10 minutes after taking our order for starters (tear and share bread) we were told they had run out,
Just went to the mains . Various burgers which were very good.
30 minutes after leaving us with the menu for sweets we were told there would be a 30 minute wait.
We asked for the bill and found it contained the starters we did not get.
Not the best experience
The burger was lovely , the choice of sides could be better as they are all very carb laden choices which is not ideal with a burger in a bun . The plates were not very warm at all so the sides went cold very quickly . The waiting staff were pleasant but it took an age to bring our drinks . I will return as the burger itself was delicious.
Slow service on the carvery waiting for meat to be cut and serving spoons left underneath heat lamps so hot to touch when getting food.
Otherwise food was lovely and nice place to eat
I wouldn't return here again. I had high expectations but was disappointed by the food. Portion sizes were below what you would get at other pub restaurants. The size of the kids burger was pathetic. Puddings we ordered looked like they were out of a packet. However, staff and service very good.
It is a lovely place, just need to be in the main part of the restaurant. My burger came out cold and took a while but they soon sorted this and as a good will gesture knocked drinks off the bill. Couldn't ha e asked for more.
Initial greeting was very friendly, we were seated in a booth which was nice.
All four of us ordered burgers which came reasonably quickly, two were as they were ordered, one was in the wrong bun , and I was served a totally different burger to the one I had ordered. The burger went back and I told my companions to start without me.
My polenta fries were stone cold when the correct order arrived, clearly they had waited for my burger to be cooked, one of my companions had Mac'n'cheese as a side, which was served lukewarm, and the others had crinkle fries which were also almost cold. When asked if everything was okay we mentioned this and a lady who might have been the manager came over and apologised to us and gave us dessert for free to compensate. A nice gesture , but we'd have preferred it to have been delivered correctly and warm first try
Unfortunately what could have been a great meal was sadly spoilt by the service. Can’t fault the food as it was lovely and everybody enjoyed their meals, however we were not offered drinks menus when we sat down, we were sat for a good 15/20 minutes before anyone came to take our order and even then it was the food order they were after, we had to ask to order drinks. After ordering we then had to chase up our drinks as they didn’t arrive for ages. We were never asked if we wanted any more drinks afterwards, and when we had been given dessert menus, nobody came to see if we wanted any for probably another 20 minutes. Alongside all the waiting around we also had to endure tables being dragged around rather than lifted, which was very noisy and not pleasant while you’re trying to enjoy a meal. A huge shame as I’ve wanted to try The Hurt Arms for a while but probably won’t return now.
Excellent food would highly recommend the build a burger which were superb, staff friendly and helpful
Will definitely be returning
Food was average and service was poor. Decor and cocktails were good.
A little style over substance
Asked twice for Drinks - Took 20 mins to arrive
Food was ok, however we ordered Burgers and the Sides were all mixed up (There was only 3 of us)
My other half and I visited The Hurt Arms on Sunday 14th April for a Carvery.
We decided to go with the 2 courses for £18 and had a starter and a carvery each.
Needless to say, we were thoroughly impressed with both the starters (mustard pork sausages and cajun popcorn chicken) and our mains.
The Carvery had an option of Turkey, Beef, Pork and Lamb. All meats looked lovely, but the lamb I had was incredible, it's hard to find lamb on a carvery that hasn't gone dry, but this lamb was amazing and the meat portion sizes you get are fab! I would also recommend to all mash lovers to get plenty mash potato - unbelievable!!
I would 100% recommend The Hurt Arms to anyone :-)
We will be back to try some of the standard mains on the menu as they looked lovely too.
Excellent food with excellent service in refreshingly 'different' surroundings.
Fabulous food, probably the best I’ve eaten out in a long time! Great choice, good value for money and the children’s menu was great too. My only regret is that I couldn’t fit more in! Thank you, we shall be back.
So enjoyed the venue, the food, the atmosphere , great lunch. The stall were so helpful and polite.
Looking forward to my next meal at the Hurt Arms.
Amazing venue and service. Always a warm welcome and seated straight away. The food is amazing and reasonably priced.
Fabulous carvery as usual !
Nicker bocker glory was amazing !
Lovely venue and atmosphere but the table wasn’t ready when we arrived and food was a long time coming. A bit dry too. Staff were friendly and lots of children so a relaxed place to go. The children enjoyed the playground.
Build a burger was disappointing but good cocktails and puddings.
Felt a little rushed drinks took a while.
The menu had a good choice, drinks were reasonably priced and there was plenty of staff available. A very enjoyable evening
Service was so slow, we had to question whether we go to the bar to order or if someone comes to the table.. left us waiting around 20 minutes and we eventually asked for someone to take our order.
When we ordered desserts, it took so long for them to arrive we also had to chase these up, and while we waited the rest of the restaurant cleared..
A burger one of us had was so pink in the middle that it looked raw. The children’s chicken and chips was rock solid, she couldn’t even get the fork through half of it.
Food was amazing. Service was a little off but I think that was due to the fact it was Mother’s Day and very busy.
Ordered and paid for a cocktail at the bar. 20 mins later it hadn’t arrived so I chased it up. 30 mins later it arrived. The girl that brought it said she would give us our money back but forgot when the bill came. Staff all seemed young and didn’t have any direction. The place has been done up lovely at we had a great table with lovely views. All the food was nice apart from the lamb which was too tough to eat. Mash was particularly nice. Gravy was watery and no taste. More gluten free options would be good. We sat with empty glasses a while and had to ask for drinks. I won’t be rushing back in a hurry unfortunately
Went for mother’s day and quite frankly the champagne breakfast was shambolic. Table booked for 10.30am...
1. Stood at the bar for 10 minutes waiting to be seated.
2. Sat waiting 20 minutes for somebody to take our order. Gave up and complained to a member of staff who then instantly took our order.
3. No forks on table.
4. Wrong main course was sent to my mum.
5. No sugar brought out with warm drinks. Asked for sugar and was asked how many I would like. I didn’t realise that is a concern for the waitress.
6. Food was nicely presented and tasted half decent but was completely overshadowed by the service.
I’ve been for both food and drinks now and on every occasion we always say the same. The staff need to switch on. This could be achieved by setting a rocket off up their bums!!
Absolutely amazing place. Service and food 5*!!!! Would recommend and will 100% be back.
Best venue I have visited in a long time.
Well done guys and keep up the good work and incredible standards!
Family meal for Mother’s Day, good vegan options quick service. We have been before and will go again.
Service was extremely slow and the food was very poor. Steak was too chewy to eat, salad was swimming in oil, and for desert we had donuts which were rock hard. They said they had a new chef so maybe this was just unlucky, and they didn’t charge us for the food that we complained about which was good of them. The atmosphere here is good and it’s a lovely spot for a drink, I just won’t be eating here again until they change their chef!
I took my mum here for an early mother’s day evening meal. Loved the updated decor and varied menu, was a great atmosphere. Seemed a trendy drinks list and menu, both our meals were lovely. The only downside for us personally was that we were obviously seated in the area where dogs were allowed. This was clearly appealing to some as it was a very busy part of the restaurant but for us it was off putting having a strong smelling dog sat next to us, it would have been nice to have been given the choice at the online booking stage. Would definitely go again but be more specific about our seating preferences.
Food was disappointing. The Carvery veg had been out for a while and wasn’t good.
Great carvery and nice wine. Decor is good too.
Two of our party would have preferred a normal bun as opposed to brioche style but overall very enjoyable.
Friday evening meal with husband and son. They both enjoyed burgers with sides. I had fajitas with chicken Cajun style. The skillet not sizzling as in many places and wraps served almost cold. The wraps were large and firm too, prefer smaller softer wraps which are kept warm in a lidded Receptical. We enjoyed a sharing platter of doughnuts for a treat. Fairly expensive so wouldn’t be Visiting often. Pleasant staff and nice modern feel.
We visited the Hurt arms on Saturday 2nd of March for the first time since the revamp and we were very impressed with the whole experience so we decided to give the carvery a try on Sunday along with the brother in law and his daughter and we weren’t disappointed. The staff were brilliant and the service was excellent we will definitely be returning in the near future. A big thank you to all the staff.
