The Hurt Arms
Food was excellent staff brilliant the only thing I h as a problem with was that I had to check the Bill but they were very nice and understanding would come again
We were asked if it was a special occasion, it was, a birthday. Nothing special done?! The service was poor, extremely slow, asked for vinegar and didn’t get it, asked for a pudding menu, didn’t get that, had to wait till a waitress wandered by. Cleared half the plates, disappeared and left the rest. Didn’t get asked if we wanted more drinks but couldn’t go to the bar. The prices are too high now to allow regular visits. The fish and chips were greasy, as were the onion rings. The Parmesan fries were covered in cheddar. I don’t ever complain but, sorry, this was a poor birthday experience.
Friendly staff, excellent food and service
Love this place, food amazing. First time back since after lock down.
Overall I enjoyed our recent visit to the Hurt Arms.
The food and service were good but it was a strange atmosphere given the distancing between tables. This obviously can’t be helped and it was clear that a lot of effort had been made to make the experience as safe as possible. I was surprised that the restaurant was not table service and orders had to be placed at the bar which meant queuing in a small space around the bar.
Great food and service
Tends to major on burgers, which are not to our taste but I realise they are now the trendy thing to order, but there is a fair variety of alternatives on offer. Can get noisy at busy times but fine on a weekday evening. Good selection of real ales
Food excellent. Staff very friendly. Alex and samantha.Would recommend to family and friends.
Service was excellent - staff very friendly. All 4 of us had different main courses but the same desserts all of which were excellent - well cooked and presented. We thought the price of our meal represented really good value for money. We all said that we will be returning in the future. Thankyou.
I would recommend Hurt Arms to my rich friends, but not to the ones who simply wanted a trip out to a local pub/restaurant.
The meal was excellent, food were delicious and the staff couldn’t do enough for you, so friendly and will definitely be coming back.
We would definitely recommend the food, it was great but the service was lacking. The service on the bar was incredibly slow when we arrived and we had to reconfirm our drinks several times. We had a lovely waitress, very chatty and great knowledge of the food but I am not sure if it was because they got busy in the bar but after we received our meals, mine missing the relish we were not checked back on for anything, drinks, issues with meal etc.
When we came to pay, we noticed at the bar that it had been happy hour on cocktails and when we mentioned this we were pretty much told we should have asked if we wanted them. If we had know we would have definitely tried although would have been difficult with the lack of service.
This place could be fantastic with a little work on the service, after waiting for our table to be cleared we did look at deserts but didn't fancy waiting again so headed closer to home for this.
Food was amazing but seriously let down by the service. Staff not knowing specials/offers or even the cocktail offer stated in the menu (resulted in us being overcharged).
Good and unique cocktails.
Outdoor area seriously lacking.
We visited for the first time on Sunday thoroughly enjoyed the food andcthe staff were amazing
Mediocre food, some of which was cold. Some staff very friendly, some rude. Won't return.
Food was absolutely beautiful and service was great however the experience was tainted by what seemed to be a swarm of flies in our corner of the room. I know this is something out of the restaurant's control however it did ruin the meal with them flying around and landing on our food. We did mention this to our server but nobody seemed to want to do anything to help. Other than that the visit was very enjoyable.
Amazing food, great portion size for value, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
I would but the service needs improvement
In particular the time drinks and food take to be served.
too embarrassed to complain whilst in there.Dogs yapping , kids screaming, Food dreadful don't have the Korean tacos...everything was dry. table sticky , customer care on messaging afterwards dreadful. huge advocate normally for this place but seems standards have dropped somewhat .
Amazing location. Food was to die for. Can not wait to come back for more
We had an overnight stay as well as dinner. Fantastic food, service and ambience. Can’t recommend it enough!
Fabulous staff. Everyone, down to the last person, was friendly and engaging.
The menu described an intriguing array of foods and flavours and we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious and we look forward to our next visit.
Lovely food just a shame we had to wait so long to be served. Definitely more staff needed but the staff they have got were brilliant.
Lovely setting for a drink, menu a bit limited, gimicky and overpriced.
Second visit for the Sunday carvery and whilst food was good disappointed that no cranberry sauce was on offer again .
Love the Calvary, a regular visitor these days , never disappointing, ± bring back the salted caramel cheesecake± for a perfect Sunday
Lovely Sunday Lunch
The food was amazing, first time experience for us and we loved it. We are definitely booking to go again soon.
Don’t know if I would recommend would have to try again. My steak were fine my wife had fish said it were dry and no taste to it, brother said his were average.
Pudding I didn’t have one wife had cheesecake said it were awful sent it back did complain about it and they did knock it off bill
We went as a family of 5 on my son’s birthday. Clearly they were busy, but service was slow, especially getting our drinks.
Food was all ok, if nothing special. My crab linguini however was quite bizarre and appeared to be made up with leftover veg, as it had loads of peppers and boiled potatoes in it, with no sign of the chillies or crispy onions advertised on the menu. Boiled potatoes? With pasta? If that had been on the menu I wouldn’t have ordered it.
The bird cages the burgers are served in do take up lots of room on the table and I felt detracted from our experience. It was less intimate having to look at everybody through cages.
Our waitress was very attentive and helpful, so no complaints there at all, but even she admitted it was all a bit busy.
The overall ambience was ok, but again nothing special. It was all a bit loud and the decor/furniture a little too shabby without being chic.
Will give it another go at some stage, but will try elsewhere first.
Service was exceptional with drinks brought to the table and food orders taken promptly. Food quality was very good and timely.
Great food and service
excellent Sunday carvery and fantastic service and staff. Busy but friendly atmoshere, we will be returning very soon
We took the cocktail offer ordering two banana and passion fruit daiquiri neither came with banana as run out the second had no passion fruit as also run out. Would have been nice to know at the time of orders then we could have changed order. Food nice cottage pie over price for what you get. Staff friendly. All in all just above average.
It was a nice place with a nice service but the menu doesn’t have much choice if you’re trying to eat healthy.
The food was pleasant . Cold plates though . Drinks took an age to arrive . Staff were pleasant enough . Overall it was ok .
I do like this place but every time I visit, I find it different to the last time. Service was exceptionally, considering it was reletaively quiet.
The gentleman who showed us to our table, took our order and generally looked after us was superb, he had all the personality and is an asset to the business - more like him please!
Excellent friendly staff, food was amazing will defiantly be back
We waited quite a while for the waiter to return to take our order, I think he forgot about us.
1 carvery and 1 fish and chips ordered. We were advised to wait 10 mins before attending the carvery to tie in with cooking time for the fish and chips. 5 minutes later the fish and chips arrived so it left 1 of us eating alone whilst the other at the carvery. The carvery was excellent but a lot of batter on the fish.
lovely beer garden
Reasonable food prices
