Been several times to The India. Never disappointed. It the cheapest Indian restaurant we have ever been to but it's in a great location and food is always good.
Good food, ambience, location. Service not great. Distracted, slow to attend, some incorrect drinks for another table and food was quite warm, but not hot.
Good food, very nice staff, beautiful surroundings. This restaurant has fully met our expectations.
Dined early on a Monday night so not too busy. Staff very attentive and not as pushy in trying to sell pints of Cobra all the time as on our last visit. Food very good and nice sized portions. Impressed when the bill came as he had taken off 20% - presumably because I had booked through OpenTable. Nice end to a good evening.
Delicious meal, my favourite Indian restaurant! Lovely surroundings and friendly staff.
The main meal tasted bland but it was good value for money. Maybe that's why he food was crap. The atmosphere was nice so was the staff. But the food could have tasted better
Had a very nice meal, service was very good, waiters friendly and helpful, food was good but without the 50% off deal it would have been expensive for a curry in my opinion. Would return but only with the 50% deal.
A wonderful evening with a very intimate setting. Great service and the food was just wow. So much flavour. I’ve been here before but not for a while. I remembered why I loved it so much before. We were served by Salim who made our evening a whole lot more special with attentive good natured humour! I would definitely come here again, and again, and again:-) Wow.
Dinner with friends
Food was excellent and typical !
There was an error on the discount but they corrected it without any problem
Good food, promptly served in comfortable surroundings at a good value price. The only downside was the service was a little too quick, i.e. I felt we were being a little rushed through the meal to clear the table for a second sitting.
I booked a table for quarter past 5 via open table however the restaurant doesnt open until half 5. The receptionist was waiting for us and explained the situation it was not a problem at all. All of the staff where very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. I will be booking to go again! I definately recommend!
Good food and good ambience
This is an excellent Indian eatery if you are looking for something more swish than your Tooting / Brick Lane style.
The food is excellent and they don’t tone down their spice. I took a friend where we had a mixed platter starter. Nice portions.
My main i had a lamb shank special. The spice was fantastic. The Naan was fresh and the Okra was not overcooked or mushy.
Service isn’t quick. Which actually for us was good ... as it gave is time to chat and catch up. It took around 2 hrs for starters and mains to complete and for us to receive our bill, but the venue wasn’t busy. Just be warned.
All in all a good bet for dinner, £33 a head incl beer, starters, mains and sides. About what i expected
Always amazing! Best curry in London!
I stumble upon this restaurant while visiting London. I highly recommend it. From the service, food, ambience. It has it all. Not to be missed.
We had a table for 3. As soon as my 2 friends arrived before me they were told that they would need the table back in 2 hours. Not a problem but then we felt we had to rush and have an eye on the time. We would have finished by then anyway with efficient service. I also asked for a specific table but was not allowed it, apparently somebody else had requested it. I find that hard to belive and think my request had not been read or acknowledged. During our meal we were approached and asked for our spare chair which had coats on it. My friend took them off and put them on her lap for a while. Someone then realised that it was probably a bit rude so brought over another chair. On looking around the restaurant there were lots of chairs that could have been used so why we had to be disturbed for that one we found odd. All these things spoiled the atmosphere for us but I cannot fault the food which is superb.
The food was good, not great. The space was indeed “cozy” in that it’s in a basement with a low arched ceiling about 6 ft. People taller have to duck to navigate the space. The server harassed us about my partner not ordering an entree and saying that a reservation for two meant we both had to order full meals, despite us ordering an appetizer, side, entree and a drink.
Great food as ever
Such a lovely place with amazing hosts and even more amazing food!
Found a hair in our food, they flatly denied it was from the kitchen. Appalling and rude. Never visiting again.
Great food, great value and good service what else do you need from a restaurant?
We felt rushed with our food and experience because our waiter made us feel like we need to hurry up because I were closing. Didn’t really enjoy the food. Won’t be coming back.
All round excellent food, service, value. My party were thoroughly impressed and would certainly return.
I booked this after seeing the good reviews on Open Table however was extremely disappointed and will not go back. Where we were seated away in the corner I noticed there was a couple a small flies buzzing about, i thought nothing of it until our starters came and there must have been at least 6 or 7 flies, flying about and flying in our dinner. I looked above and there was some sort of ventilation system that they must have come from/been attracted to. I immediately got up and asked to be moved. Where we were moved to was better, however, when our main course arrived there were still a couple of flies that i had to bat away from my dinner. I have dined out for years and years and this is the first time I have ever had to swat away flies in a restaurant from my food. When our bill came there was no discount and no offer of a free drink/desert etc to make up for the awful experience. Instead, they had added on 12.5% tip, i said to the waiter who brought the bill (not our usual waiter) that I wanted to take it off and decide our own tip to which he responded, 'you don't want to tip?'. Not only is this extremely rude and took me aback, but i wouldn't even expect this if they're HADN'T been flies in my food. We then (against my advisement) still left a reasonable tip and the rude waiter then came over whilst we were still at the table took the bill and pocketed the tip. I couldn't believe this and was so angry but didn't want to get into an argument. This was an extreme shame as the food was actually lovely but completely tainted by the other experiences. AVOID.
Ottimo ristorante indiano a Londra. La zona è poco movimentata la sera, tuttavia questo locale serve la cena fino alle 22.00/22.30 ed è ottimo se vi trovate in zona. Ottimi prezzi ed ottimi piatti, oltre che per il sapore anche per l'abbondanza.
With so many great Indian resturants in London, I'd suggest giving this rather ordinary offering a miss.
Great cozy place. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Nice cocktails too!
Great place with good value food, great service and nice taste
Extremely tasty food
I hadn't been here for a while but won't leave it as long next time. Great food good service while worth a visit
Staff attentive as always. Food excellent
Very bad service by the restaurant. They tried to coerce us into taking a weird deal which we didn't want to. And they didn't place our orders until quite some time. One of the waiters kept suggesting we allow him to cancel our OpenTable bookings so they wouldn't have to pay a fee to the agent. An otherwise unpleasant dining experience with mediocre food and terrible service.
Went here for last meal in London and loved. Cool space underground, great and attentive service and some of best Indian food we’ve had in some time. Highly recommend
Very good food. A bit pricey for Indian food but well worth it. The restaurant is underground in cavens below Canon Street and is therefore really different from your average Indian Restaurant. Well worth a visit..
We went early for a friends/business catch so the restaurant was quite empty. We were met with a friendly welcome, given good advice about the menu and the service was excellent throughout. We shared a mixed starter, then a variety of main dishes, plus sides, all of which I would happily have again.
Excellent food and service.
But one shouldn't have to remind the staff that the bill should contain a discount through Opentable and then have to check it is amended accordingly.. It has been necessary on three out of four visits. There is also some confusion about what the discount should be. I'm still unsure. I also think that the tip should be clearly identified separately and as discretionary.
Notwithstanding my opening comment I'm not sure I will return.
Really great food and fantastic space.
Beautiful cosy restaurant
