Three of our party selected the Fish Pie as a main course item from the specials recommended by the waiter.
The waiter went to great lengths to push the item. The food tasted okay but when we received the bill we were shocked. The "Special" Fish pie was priced at £22.95 plus service charge. It definitely wasn't that special and if the waiter had told us the price when we ordered we would have selected one of the other fish dishes which were priced around £12-£14.
When pushing dishes the waiters should advise diners of the cost.
The Ivy in Bath is the perfect place for a lovely meal out. The food, decor, service, ambience and location are all perfect. We are vegetarian and I am also gluten free so some restaurants struggle, but not The Ivy, in fact they surpassed themselves and I was spoilt for choice. The non alcoholic cocktails were gorgeous too. Our Waiter was utterly brilliant and really friendly and informative with great recommendations. We also go to The Ivy in Cheltenham which is equally good.
I love the ivy for its decor, vibe and reasonably priced food. However my last visit our waitress was quite sharp and made a rude comment about not having any space to lay out plates. It didn’t suit the casual calm atmosphere and I felt like the service was a bit rushed and rude. Shame because we love coming here for lunch!!
Quick, attentive and friendly staff. A smile and interest in the dishes on that part of the menu ( as it should be ) all help the diner feel welcome.
Ambience lovely. Bit of a trek to the loos. But I guess that it helps aid the digestion!!!!
Met friends for a late breakfast before shopping, lovely atmosphere, great food and very good value, the only issue we were so relaxed lost track of time.
The visit was good however the breakfast itself was cold. I had the spinach and avocado eggs benedict.
Food was amazing and setting was perfect. On booking we had been asked what occasion we were there for and selected birthday. At the end of the meal a small birthday dessert was bought out with a candle which added to the personal experience.
Great meal and service. A very good evening was had by all.
A beautful friendly welcome, 1st visit here, the food was gorgeous, desert to die for, lovely relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, really enjoyed, and would definatly return..
Context. Lazy Sunday afternoon, celebrating an anniversary. Ended up having lunch. A previous visit had proved disappointing with a style over substance table service not delivering. By the way, The Ivy never gave me any feedback when I reviewed the place that time. This time, service was up to scratch, the food was good, probably not great, but good, but the overall feel of the place was splendid. I will be back!
Food portions okay as long as you don't order the cottage pie as this was very small & didn't come with any sides.
The birthday cake policy of not being allowed to consume on the premises was very disappointing we have never come across this before.
The bill was for 12 adults and 1 toddler proved expensive due to the £45 service charge!
Brilliant, absolutely recommend - service and food excellent.
Looking forward to next time x
Came here for my fiancé birthday meal and was extremely happy with the experience. Food was exceptional and the staff were attentive. Will definitely book here again.
Loved it but felt that the drinks were very expensive
A special Christmas lunch for my two daughters, and we all felt so happy and well looked after and the food was delicious. Also as two of us were driving we had seedlip and tonic which was beautifully presented with juniper berries, cinnamon and lots of ice. It felt so festive!
There’s no doubt that the Ivy is a great place to eat and drink, a great mix of styles of food, snacks and drink, all at better than expected prices given the e pensive feel and style of the place. Only thing that let us down was the table service. The menus took 15 minutes to arrive, we had to ask 3 times for water and our one course took nearly an hour to arrive. If the service had been as good as the environment and feel of the place it would be pretty flawless
The usual great atmosphere found in Ivy restaurants. Server excellent, though drinks a little slow from the bar staff. Food very good and very well presented. Overall, a very good experience.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, friendly staff
Fantastic breakfast for our anniversary and the waiter is very friendly and learning sign language which is brilliant for us being deaf ! Love to come back again x
It was all round amazing and they made our anniversary very special!
I like the Ivy in Bath. Great ambience, waiter was great etc. But it ran out of Fish Pie by 8.30pm and overall it feels very over priced. Other than that we had a good meal but not amazing. I had chicken Milanese - chicken breast with an egg on top! A lot of money for just that. And almost everything on the menu needs a side dish or two, which have to be ordered and paid for separately, adding further costs to the expensive dishes.
My first time at The Ivy when I took a friend for a birthday treat. It certainly won't be my last! Everything was wonderful ......the lady who showed us to our table and took our coats, our table waitress who was friendly and helpful, the lovely, perfect lunch we enjoyed, great menu, and not forgetting the beautiful decor and the whole lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be returning!
We picked this restaurant for a 1 night visit to Bath based on the rating, and it didn't disappoint.
Excellent food & wine
booked this restaurant as we were at the Bath Christmas Market. The food, choice of wines and service was very good. The only slight drawback was the noise. it was very loud and that had nothing to do with any music.
would certainly use this restaurant again, we had a great evening.
Looked forward to dining here for a while and it didn’t disappoint! Fabulous food, service and overall experience. The signature Kir Royale was superb!
Lovely food and beautiful venue.
We enjoyed our visit on Thursday 6th December. We had dinner and found the menu very vast and the quality of food very good. We visited for our mini moon and the staff made it very special for us and accommodated our 4 month old baby to.
Very nice anniversary meal, the food was absolutely amazing and service very good. Only criticism is it’s quite pricey! It’s very posh aswell, so I felt a little out of place.
We went to The Ivy to take tea, it was excellent. The tea was hot and served in attractive tea pots, our waiter was faultless in his work and fresh strawberries served with the cream tea added a very nice extra to the meal. The scones were freshly prepared and oh, so good!
I have been to the ivy 3-4 times for afternoon tea and on all the previous visits the service had been good but on my last visit with a girlfriend was very disappointing we were seated promptly but then waited ages for the waiter to come over and when he did and took our order the hot drinks took ages to come and when they did they were not that hot. We drew the attention of another waiter who said some more would be made one was brought over and we had to ask again for the second hot drink I had drank mine by the time my friends arrived disappointing visit
On our way through Bath again and just have to stop for lunch at The Ivy. Will be visiting twice more over Christmas on our way to Essex from Cardigan, Wales and back again. As usual, everything fantastic and can’t wait to visit again.
Always a good experience at the Ivy . Soup was like warm sent it back. Everything else was fine.
THe food was very tasty, and the fish pie was really special
Good attentive service
Room decor and service lovely but tables were a bit close together so loud conversations from neighbouring diners were quite intrusive. Tables at the front of the restaurant seemed better spaced apart
Food was excellent, service bit slow bearing in mind restaurant was not full, quite expensive, bill was £144.00 for 2 , no bottle wine.
We will be back
Booked to take a friend for cream tea and got delayed getting there with heavy traffic, so although afternoon service was over the staff sorted it so we could still have our cream tea. I really, really appreciated them doing that, thank you.
The Service was excellent as was the food. Excellent value.
We had a round table on the Milsom street side which was great for our party of 4 ( 2 elderly) We all agreed it was very noisy. Our waiter was attentive and polite - however the hugely efficient young lady who brought our drinks managed to call my wife “ LOVEY” which my wife found unacceptable and patronising in extremis! Anybody less like a “LOVEY” I cannot imagine. We were surprised........
The overall look and atmosphere was beautiful, exactly what you would expect. However the service was lacking lustre! The waitress spilled the food in front of me and left it there. It’s not really what you expect from a restaurant of this standard and price point.
Service was impeccable
Food was delicious
I thought the £7.50 for a glass of Bailey's (which consisted of 3 sips) was an outright rip off
