For an experience for a coeliac- it was poor. When I asked what could I have - it was not the burger as it has wheat included( I thought it would only be the brioche which would need to be replaced). I was told I could have a curry, any steak, or the lamb. I had shepherds pie which was just ok. Such a large menu and very limited choice. £37 for bottle of picpoul was completely OTT. This was my second visit, neither was good and we won’t be doing that again.

Arrived 5 minutes early for a 730pm reservation. Did not get seated until almost 15minutes later and I had to ask if our table was ready. Food and drink service was very slow. My Parmesan and truffle fries did not come with my meal so we had to find a server and ask for them and then wait 5 minutes for them to be brought out. Same with my drinks order. The wait time was not good. Tiramisu was sold out so I had the most disappointing truffles. They really need to come with ice-cream to cut through the chocolate and salted caramel Lastly we were celebrating my daughter in-laws birthday and 1 person acknowledged it but no other acknowledgement yet I saw another table get a desert with a candle in it. No consistency.

This was our second time back and we were expecting something different from our last experience. When we arrived we were advised to go to the bar because our table wasn’t ready. There was a table ready to go that we could see from the bar, we were taken to the table 10 minutes after our booking time to that exact table. We where given menus promptly and we had our drink order taken quickly; it was a further 15 - 20 minutes before what seemed to be the floor manager came to take our food order and he had to double check if we had ordered drinks. Food was amazing no issues there and the cocktail I had was beautiful but the service was really slow today there seemed to be staff walking about with nothing to do. With so many staff on today I don’t understand why the service was so slow for this reason I asked for the service charge to be taken off the bill and no tip was left

As other reviews say, the service is slow and inadequately staffed. Food was ok; starters average (maybe avoid the French Onion soup), mains better. But the principal problem is they need more waiting staff.

I went for afternoon tea with my mum to celebrate her birthday. I can't fault the staff who were polite or the beautiful decor of the interior of the restaurant. However,it was very noisy and packed which is great for a restaurant/bar but not as venue for afternoon tea. We couldn't hear each other and it definitely was not a relaxing experience for either of us which was a shame as it was a treat for my mum. I have been fortunate to have been to many venues for afternoon tea and this unfortunately was my worst experience. I would recommend that if you enjoy a relaxing, quiet afternoon tea avoid the Ivy.
