The Ivy Brasserie, Spinningfields
The Ivy Brasserie is open all day, seven days a week. Serving modern British classics for breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and everything in-between.
The Ivy Asia and Bar is located on the second floor, open seven days a week from 5pm and from 12pm at the weekends. There is a central glamorous late night bar and the restaurant is illuminated with a show-stopping green, semi-precious stone floor serving Asian-inspired cocktails and sharing dishes with entertainment and resident DJ’s.
Very slow service, we had at least 5 different members of staff serve us throughout the night and then had to chase one down so we could actually pay.
Food was a good portion size and pleasant, but I won’t be reminiscing about it in days, weeks, months to come unlike other restaurants in the area.
Cocktails were average and again slow to arrive.
Nice evening spent with my husband but won’t be in a rush to return.
Service was really good, friendly, but a little over attentive - we can pour our own water from the bottle - but otherwise very excellent.
Food was served promptly and hot and as it should be.
A very enjoyable lunch in beautiful surroundings. The service was attentive but not intrusive.
We chose the three course lunch menu which was good value but I would have liked a bit more choice. I had checked the evening before and was disappointed to find the menu had changed from crispy duck to roast chicken breast. The white chocolate mousse was substantial and delicious.
The ideal place for a leisurely lunch.
Food and service where fantastic. Only thing i would say, is that the restaurant wasn't full but everyone was crammed together.
Love the food , atmosphere and everything about the place. Rebooking for the rooftop
Delicious food and friendly staff although lunchtime service a little slow
A lovely overall experience, friendly relaxed atmosphere. Service was good and staff very friendly. We had breakfast and would recommend it and will try lunch next time.. We also had a cocktail on the roof terrace & we loved it, very quaint. We will certainly go back again.
Could not recommend this place enough! We visited for my partners birthday and every member of staff was so welcoming and friendly, all wishing him a happy birthday as I wrote it in the booking notes! Our waiter couldn’t do enough for us, also without being OTT! Great atmosphere, GREAT food, great service!
Thank you all :-) !
It’s the place to go in Manchester at the moment but, I wasn’t overly impressed due to:
It was my wife’s 50th. Three reminders for them to bring a piece of cake out. In addition.
Bottled beers, no draft
A £30 service charge automatically added to the bill
Overdone chips to the extent there was no potato left inside
There’s a lot of competition in Manchester and unfortunately, The Ivy disappointed
Lovely ambience, lovely food however we waited 45 minutes between courses! Overall a lovely establishment.
Food was very good apart from one main course which was a burger which was over cooked
The service was good overall however an additional glass of wine ordered failed to appear and was cancelled as the meal was complete by the time it was chased by the waiter
As usual, great food atmosphere & lovely staff
Terrible visit .offered us water and then billed us .teapot came with no tea in ,chips freezing cold.
Fantastic surrounding, nice friendly staff who seemed genuinely interested in their customers. Very good table manner and of course excellent food.
Service lacked attention to detail, food was ok but not outstanding, venue itself is stunning. Overall glad we went but not sure if we would return as not great value for money.
I organised a booking here for my boyfriends 21st birthday and I could not have been happier with everything! It was so much better than what I had in mind and he had the best time! Overall everything was amazing, the food was delicious and very quick to the table, the service was outstanding and so friendly. Couldn’t say a bad word about anything. We’re definitely coming back!
Amazing food and service the decor is amazing and great atmosphere I would go again!
We had a lovely meal in the Brasserie and cocktails beforehand in the Asian restaurant, but we were a bit disappointed that we couldn’t go into the rooftop bar for drinks, as we’d hoped. That was the only downside though - everything else was fantastic.
We visited here for my wife’s 30th Birthday, at what I thought was a very reputable and high end restaurant. How wrong was I!!!!
Turned up to be rushed to a table in the corner directly under the freezing air conditioning unit to which they didn’t turn down or offer to move us. We hadn’t even been sat down a minute when the waitress came and asked if we were ready to order food!!! I mean give us chance to relax at least and order a drink. The atmosphere was loud and lairy, and not what I was expecting from this kind of “high end”restaurant. More drunk stag and Hen parties than people wanting to have a quite evening. The staff weren't interested and were more interested in chatting between themselves than the customers. I over heard the table next to us complain about their wine to which the waitress once the customers left, laugh to her colleagues once the couple had left the restaurant and from what I could see didn’t even raise the issue to her manager. Unbelievable!!!!
Ok let’s move onto the food..... The starter came, which was small and wasn’t to a high quality level at all, it looked and tasted like it was frozen food quality . The main meal came to which my wife’s monkfish was as tough as old boots. As I didn’t want to eat alone I left my meal which was unsatisfactory anyway. The manager seemed uninterested and only offered to replace my wife’s meal after I’d sat and let mine go cold as the waitress was nowhere to be seen for about 10 minutes. I had to flag down the bartender to get someone’s attention!!!! Once the waitress came we demanded for both main courses to be removed from the bill as we didn’t want to waste anymore of our night here. We had seen enough. We reluctantly paid for our understandard starter and drinks and left to go any get in another restaurant. This delayed our evening as we couldn’t get into another restaurant until around 10:30pm.
All in all this restaurant ruined what was meant to be a great night away in Manchester.
Fabulous evening, efficient service both at the bar and during the meal. Ambience and decor perfect, will definitely return.
Excellent service from our lovely friendly waitress. Not quite got the ambience of the original Ivy in London but a great addition to the Manchester restaurant scene .
Amazing place, service and food we had our birthdays there.
Excellent food slightly let down by poor front door service. The waiting staff were good but we waited for our table as the front desk completely forgot about us! Wine whilst a tad pricey was good.
I was expecting a much better experience for an Ivy restaurant. The food I did have was very tasty but the gluten free options were limited and there was no separate gluten free menu. When I asked for one I got given the vegetarian menu! My partners chips were also cold. Furthermore it was far too loud and the tables too close together.
Excellent venue with an equally excellent staff who greeted you warmly on arrival. Service was exemplary from the front desk, to the roof top bar, to the restaurant. Everyone was friendly and knowledgable about their part and nothing seemed to much of a problem. A s a warm up we had a couple of cocktails that weren't on the menu, but were no problem for the mixologist behind the roof terrace bar. When reservation time came we were seated promptly and given our menus. Service wasn't pushy at all and we didn't feel under any pressure to take our time over our order. Food was brought in good time and was excellent for the most part. My first taste of steak tartare did not leave me disappointed and The Boss's mozzarella salad went down well too. My main of blackened cod was wonderfully cooked and a very pleasant dish on the eye. A side order was recommended by our waiter, so I ordered the spinach and pine nuts, but of all the food this was the least pleasing for me. I thought it dry and lacking any depth of flavour that would compliment the cod dish, but The Boss was more than happy to add some to her plate of crab salad which was soft and sweet with crab meat. We enjoyed the decor of the dining room which was in an art deco style and we thought it an excellent setting for our 11th wedding anniversary. At 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon it is a very...very busy restaurant, with an accompanying level of hustle and bustle from efficient staff and happy, relaxed diners. So, if you were looking for a quiet meal, perhaps a later reservation would be a more suitable option. Value-wise, you are dining in a popular and higher class of restaurant than might otherwise be available around the Spinningfields area, so you can expect to pay from £40 per head for 2 course and some drinks. We were not in anyway disappointed by our first experience here and would have no hesitation in returning.
Food and service outstanding.
Great venue, great food, great service, great room dressing. Tables are packed in too tightly which spoils the comfort. Price is about right for the experience.
Great for special occasions. Delicious food in lovely surroundings. Service was very friendly and attentative. Highly recommend
It’s a great place for an end of week bite in a lively interesting atmosphere attentive staff make everything easy
Amazing service, great building, funky atmosphere and wonderful food. I was worried it might just be the name and not the product, but I was bowled over by the end.
One of the best dining experiences we've encountered, Lewis was a fab host. Will definitely return.
Lovely ambience, great tasting food. Mains came around 2 minutes after the starters arrived and before we had eaten more than a mouthful. Despite the speed they arrived in, the salmon was lukewarm. Both meals very tasty, but not sure it was worth the price tag with such nice restaurants nearby. Would try again but not for 12 months or so.
We had a wonderful time. Perfect table, tasty food, great background music and excellent friendly staff who made us feel welcomed. Already booked to go back, we all loved it.
The only feedback in terms of the food is there is a lot of fish. Could do with more alternative options but couldn't fault the food at all
This was our first visit to the Ivy. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The quality of service, food and general ambiance was excellent. Our waiter who was from Spain explained each course fully to us. As soon as we sat down we were put at ease. A fabulous experience Thank you. Andy Allen
We booked for lunch for our sons 18th birthday!! Unfortunately the staff were not happy to serve him a glass of Prosecco due to him not having any ID!!
The meals didn’t come out together and we were missing an extra side of veg.
Disappointing experience overall
Beautiful place with excellent service...food lovely and desserts amazing would recommend
Nice food with a great atmosphere. A really nice place for a dinner out
Fabulous food & service. However, the music was appalling & far too loud. It was more suited to a club than a good restaurant. We complained & despite the server saying they’d had several complaints about the music, & she would ask the manager to speak to us (which he didn’t bother to do) nothing was done. This would definitely put us off visiting again.
Food and ambiance was excellent, the only down side was that our food didn't all come together and it got progressively louder
