Delicious food as usual but poor service. We were still waiting for our main course an hour and a half later. Apparently this was due to 3 out of 6 of us having starters. Mmm.....
I’ve marked it down just one star to very good food ambience as our table was tucked away in the corner and was a little drafty.
Lovely evening to celebrate our anniversary.
We had a Christmas meal here, but they could not accommodate the whole party as they had mixed up how big the table should have been. 2 of our party had to go home as a result. Service was really slow, food was not as good as soho or city garden, portions were smaller and it was over cooked. Staff were rude and couldn’t even find our coats. Would definitely not go back here again
Great food only critique would be being coeliac it would have been nice to have more food options.
We were a table of four, celebrating a birthday and we had a very nice time, although I have to say I think I was expecting a bit more from a branch of The Ivy. This was the first one I have visited, but of course the reputation of the original is something to live up to. I had heard good reports of the new ones, so was looking forward to it but overall I think it was very good rather than excellent, hence only four stars. I thought my shepherds pie was a bit on the mean side, but my apple tart was generous, and both very tasty. I can't help but make a comparison with Cote (not the Richmond branch), and although the Ivy ambience is different, and the menu more extensive, I think the standard of food is comparable and Cote is less expensive.
Cannot fault this place...... Everything has its unique thing
Amazing food & service! The perfect Christmassy brunch with the girls
Always a treat! So nice to go somewhere special without spending a fortune. Decor is fab, service is spot on and the food never disappoints.
Amazing atmosphere with friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for you . The food was fantastic as were The Ivy Royales ! Will definitely be returning in the New Year .
First visit here and I was very impressed. Good service, prompt without feeling rushed. My starter, main course and dessert were all lovely and well-presented. Good choice of wine. The restaurant had a great ambience. It's buzzy so the noise level is moderate not so you can't hear yourselves but if you want a very quiet, intimate meal then this is probably not the place. Love how they have done the interior.
Quality of food poor. Prawns were frozen (starter), so had to be returned both chicken dishes very bland. Broccoli good.
Service could have been warmer /friendlier.
It's a great environment, buzzy, fun and great to come for lunch and drink but the quality of the food is not good despite a wide choice. I would prefer food that has all been prepped and prepared freshly and that has flavour.
We did have a nice evening...it was a birthday celebration.
I love the food and ambiance - but 2 out of the 3 times I’ve been there I’ve been kicked off my table as soon as I’ve finished to pass it to other diners. It’s depressing when you spend 300 quid for a meal for 4 and are not permitted time to digest it. Else, I’m a fan.
Great amazing I loved it
Lovely Saturday late lunch at The Ivy Richmond, food and ambience as you would expect for an Ivy restaurant; service and attentiveness was excellent. We will be back again and again.
We enjoyed our lunch but the restaurant was quite noisy. Maybe avoid busy weekends.
I can't fault this visit. The food, cocktails, wines and services were all really excellent. The lobster risotto was particularly delicious. We can't wait to go back again!
Loved our brunch with friends on a Saturday morning. Very friendly ambience. And the service is outstanding.
The only thing that annoyed me the most about this place was when the waiter kept topping us up with water without asking and charging for the bottle. We asked for one bottle and had other drinks we did not need another one as we hadn’t even finished the first.
High quality cuisine. The menu is varied and everything choose by our group of four was fantastic. Really good service it is a smart casual restaurant with a real buzz would recommend for a special occasion.
Had an amazing meal again at The Ivy Café, Richmond. Service was outstanding with great dinner recommendations. Can not get over what great value it is for such amazing food and service.
We celebrated our anniversary and had an excellent evening, delicious meal and very attentive waiter.
Christmas lunch get-together with friends. The Ivy is a beautiful restaurant with an equally beautiful menu. Staff were very polite and efficient. We had all three courses from the set menu. This offered a great and varied selection and was of an exceptional standard.
The only negative I have is the location of the toilets which are a trek up a steep set of stairs. A lot of people used the ground level disabled toilet which can be a nuisance to those dining close to this toilet door as some left it slightly ajar when leaving.
All in all, it was a very good experience and was not as expensive as I was expecting. Will definitely go there again.
Service was very efficient. The pumpkin soup was great, but then... a shoulder of lamb drowned in horseraddish and so dry, it was painful to eat. The cheese served so cold it had no taste at all. No, thanks.
Fantastic evening with delicious food and excellent service for my father’s birthday , thank you !
I took my wife, two sons and mother in law for a pre Christmas dinner and had been looking forward to it for a few weeks.
It was all very nice until we were finishing our puddings and we’re asked if they could give us the bill because they needed the table. Our booking was 6pm and they were trying to get us to leave at 7:15. I’ve checked the terms and a 6pm booking is for two hours.
I don’t like to moan because overall it was ok but being ushered out just took the shine off it. We don’t get yo eat out often, especially at places like the ivy, and expected better of them. So don’t think I’ll go back.
I hope your visit is better
The service was absolutely outstanding.
A pleasant meal in very nice surroundings. Staff were attentive
Lovely afternoon tea with fresh tasty selection of sweet and savoury items. We enjoyed all of them. The service was friendly and efficient and the interior design of the venue stylish. A minor niggle is it would have been nice to have had the tea refilled. Would recommend.
Always a pleasure to visit The Ivy Richmond - it's definitely my favourite one in the group! It has the vibrancy and buzz of a top class London restaurant but without the hassle of travelling into town.
Great atmosphere, superb service and good food. I'll be back!
Good choice of menu; excellent service and comfortable
Great service & atmosphere in Lovely Richmond upon Thames
Good menu choice & fantastic presentation of dishes
Love the Art Deco theme
Can't wait to go back again !
Seafood cocktail was poor, wet lettuce made the food taste less few prawns and too little sauce.
Poorly made cocktails: short on spirits and not accurate ingredients.
Lovely decor, but it was very busy and the food suffered as a result which was disappointing. The soup was barely lukewarm and the steak was overdone. The pannacotta was delicious though.
A very enjoyable visit to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Perfect for an anniversary like that.
The Ivy at Richmond is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. The decor is gorgeous, friendly attentive service and the food was tasty. My only criticism would be that we were a table of two and placed on a very cramped table which was set up in a strange way. It was a Monday night and packed (which is a great sign) but I would have preferred that they didn't try and pack us in so tightly, especially when it's not a super cheap place to eat!
Food and service was excellent. Will definitely return
The moment we sat down the waiter greeted us with the news that about 6 of the items on the Sunday menu were unavailable, and there were no specials. I have to wonder how they could be out of standards like fish and chips and shepherd's pie at 6.30pm: I'm only glad we didn't go at 9pm! Service was a bit slow to get started but then picked up. The food was fine, but we had to compromise on what we could choose, so it wasn't ideal. They did give my husband a nice birthday tart at the end, which was kind of them. It's a nice place but I felt a bit disappointed that our evening hadn't been perfect.
Lovely venue with interesting decor and a very inviting cocktail bar with a good selection of drinks. The staff provide a highly professional but warm service and are attentive without being intrusive. The quality of food is very good and is reasonably priced. We went for a special occasion but will return soon; who needs a special occasion to enjoy good food?
Excellent good , excellent service -all staff made my daughters birthday a truly special day -we will remember it always !
Delicious food, great service and lovely atmosphere. Really accommodating to children too.
