Always a great experience, the food is never a let down and the service is fantastic.
Very disappointed with my overall experience for such a leading restaurant. We felt rushed throughout our sitting. Our waitress spilled a jug of water over me completely covering me and did not really apologise did not recover the situation. In addition when I asked for vinegar she said they were all out on the tables! My friend complained to the manager overall very disappointing.
A good choice of vegetarian dishes, on a separate menu which helps, and 2 vegan starters and mains. So room for a few more choicea there. The vegan butternut and buckwheat dish was delicious, the creamy harriss sauce really made the dish.
My Dad had the truffle and mushroon pasta starter...highly recommend..and the lamb after which was falling apart in the best way and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Been here several times ,,, never disappointed . Would definitely recommend and cannot wait to return
A lovely evening, so pleased to be able to get a booking at short notice. Food and drinks enjoyed by all. A confusion with the main course resolved without drama 😊
Amazing food and delicious cocktails we had a wonderful wedding anniversary just the service was very slow
Went here for afternoon tea for my birthday with my mum and sister. However there was nothing special about it, despite my sister telling them to put a candle in one of the cakes. The food was good but nothing special, cocktails were very nice! Service was good again nothing special at to wait to 10 minutes for a table which was already booked. Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.
Ordered Fush & Chips. Fish batter soggy and uncooked.
Mentioned to waitress who appeared to be unconcerned
The food was delicious but they had already run out of tuna when we arrived at 12.30pm! There was a problem with our table booking. They had clearly given our booking away to someone else even though we were there in plenty of time. They finally gave me a table after I showed them my e-mail with the reservation details on. At the end, they couldn't find my coat so I had to go into the cupboard to find it - in spite of the fact that they had take my coat and given me a tokan for it. The service was very matter of fact and not friendly.
Ideal place for brunch. Good selection with something for everyone. Delicious eggs benedict
Went to the Ivy for breakfast and was not disappointed. Started with crumpets followed by the eggs benedict. I don’t like too much hollandaise so they put it in a separate jug. Nothing was a problem for them and they catered well for my needs. Food delicious service brilliant and I will be going back.
The only unpleasant thing in this restaurant is how they organised sits. If you come as a group it’s perfect, if you come alone - perfect but if you come as couple it’s uncomfortable. Place is too small for two people, table for two is tiny, no place to put bag or anything else, neighbours are too close to you. Staff is so anxious too fit you in into the most uncomfortable place first, and if you not complain it’s ok, if you do, then they put you in better space, but still bad because you are only two people.
Suggestion! Think about quality and comfort rather profit from more people to fit in, otherwise you become Wagamama or something...
Tiny place to sit with my friend ruined all experience of Ivy, though food and restaurant are amazing, staff also very nice.
Really enjoyed my first visit to The Ivy Richmond.
The food, wine and cocktails were great, as was the decor and atmosphere in the restaurant.
The only slightly negative comment I have is that a suggestion was made we should go elsewhere to grab a drink before our table was available. We arrived 30 minutes early to enjoy a pre-dinner drink, but the lady on the front desk suggested that we should come back as the bar was a little busy.
It looked fine to us, and after a little bit of persuasion we were allowed to stand in the bar area. Maybe she thought we’d not be comfortable with standing as the seats were all taken, but it just seemed a little odd. If I owned a restaurant I’d want guests to spend money at the bar rather than suggesting elsewhere.
Other than that, it was a nice evening and I’d definitely go back again.
Always lovely food. Staff very friendly and attentive. Beautiful restaurant where you are always made to feel special.
Excellent service and a real desire to give quality service. The food was fantastic and we would not hesitate to recommend it to everyone. A real occasion restaurant yet quite relaxing.
Great place to meet up , it was a bit noisy acoustics for tables in the middle did make conversation a bit difficult it was easier before around the perimeter. I love the food and the décor.
It was too crowded and packed sardines would have more room in a tin, also the noise levels, I had to almost shout at my lunch guest and she still had trouble hearing me. Food great, service excellent, get rid of a few tables to give more room, I dont know what you can do about the noise levels.
We visited The Ivy for a Saturday Lunch .
The food was Fabulous.
The Staff were very friendly and attentive .
Nothing was too much trouble .
Having visited a few other Ivy Restaurants this is a definite favourite !
Loved the decor & ambience .
Will visit again soon !
Great service and lovely food in great setting with a lively atmosphere. My 5th visit and definitely not my last!
Very poor service .. waited far too long for our foodie and it’s wasn’t worth the wait !!!
Booked for 10.45 for brunch as saw that the menu changed at 11.00am. Was informed 3 times that the kitchen was closing for breakfast. So rushed to order, only to find out later that it was the breakfast menu that was ending and that the brunch menu kicked in from 11.00am. When mentioned to staff - was again told that "we have 2 menus, a breakfast and a brunch" and that it states this on the website too - no apologies or understanding that it is actually quite a common thing to expect only one morning menu to cover both breakfast and brunch! Very rude and unapologetic in making us stress and rush our order! Will NOT be visiting again! And waited 15 minutes for a coffee! - We did notice that it was not charged but acknowledged as being complimentary.
Lovely restaurant with good food. Service was ok but quite hard to get someones attention as they were so busy & I don’t think they had enough staff. The only negative was the noise level. Being a Saturday night it was full & was quite hard to have a conversation as we couldn't really hear each other! Despite this we would return.
Good but not outstanding . Enjoyed the experience in other Ivy Cafes more so .
However would return
Good as usual. Will go again
(Apparently I have to write at least 50 words... cat cat cat cat cat cat cat dog dog lemon lemon apocalypse knee cat cat cat cat cat cat ok?)
Always great here!
I cannot recommend this restaurant for anything. We ordered from the set menu. The pate was fine but served with a meagre two pieces of unbuttered toast. The Caesar Salad consisted of stringy chicken served on a soggy bed of leaves. The creme brûlée was the best part of the meal however. Having chosen the least expensive bottle of red and white wine these were both awful - at £23 per bottle I would not expect this even for a vin ordinaire. The wine glass was not a wine glass - rather an enlarged short stem Port glass. The waiter topped me up without asking and then attempted to fill the white wine glass with red wine! My chair was protruding into the aisle whilst the waiting staff kept brushing my elbow in their haste. The ambiance was awful and too noisy to hold a reasonable conversation with my friends. Service between courses was slow then we were rushed at the end to vacate our table - no time for coffee!! I believe Wagamama offer far better value with service far exceeding The Ivy. Overall an awful experience with an inflated price tag.
Fantastic service from the moment we stepped through the door. Fantastic food and very attentive and helpful staff.
Loved the restaurant. Excellent service and good food . Will come again.
We were taking my vagan daughter for a good luck and bon voyage dinner, before she heads off for Japan and New Zealand for several weeks.
I had noted beforehand that we had a vegan diner. While the vegetarian menu was a welcome introduction since our last visit, the number of vegan options was not huge, though my daughter managed to find options that were beautifully presented and tasty and very much enjoyed. The house champagne was fragrant, pleasant and enjoyable.
My starter of orzo with truffles was (as they say) to die for - truly delightful comfort food, just the right portion size. Mains were lovely also, so much so that only two of us had dessert - a shared creme brulee, which was delightful as well.
Daughter was very pleased to have been spoilt in this way - she hasn't had many 'special' dining experiences since becoming vegan. We'll definitely been back - at Richmond (a favourite) or Guildford - our local branch.
Ivy Cafe always delivers. Decent wine list. Really cool decor. Food good, as always, just would be nice if they shook up the menu every now and again!
Attended in October and enjoyed the occasion. The Ivy is a bit lively for what should be a quiet business meeting, but guests seemed to enjoy the ambiance anyway. It would be helpful to get an option if possible at the beginning to select a quiet corner! Still the Ivy but perhaps tucked away somewhere. Otherwise great. Thanks.
We had a fabulous meal, we go whenever we have an occasion or any excuse to be honest!.. it’s always amazing service always super efficient and not too formal. The food was fantastic and one of the nicest meals I have had for a long time, highly recommend the mozzarella for starters and the monk fish curry for main. Can’t wait to go back, love it.. best restaurant in Richmond.
Excellent decor, ambience and service. The food was okay - but not brilliant (apart from my dessert!) Wine list was extensive but expensive. More choice of wines by the glass would be good. Those that were available were expensive - particularly as only a 175ml glass. Cocktails also average and didn't taste that strong. Finally, the restaurant did not register with Open Table that we had turned up for the booking - so we got an irritating "don't do it again" message from Open T.
Our two course early evening meal was a delicious experience- perfectly cooked and charmingly, effortlessly served. Tried to book for following night, as we were just visiting Richmond, but it was fully booked already!
Good food as always but staff didn't seem to be able to cope with the number of people in the venue the night we visited. Despite booking our table wasn't ready and we had to wait at the door as there was no room at the bar. During the meal our waitress went from being very pushy and rushing us with orders one minute to then ignoring us for long periods later in the evening. Overall good food but shame about the service - hopefully it was a one off.
Lovely buzz. Great tuna carpaccio as usual. Lobster over cooked and tough.
Excellent meal as always service brilliant, food wonderful.
Whereas I really enjoyed most of the experience, we were asked to leave our table after 2.5 hours (apparently only 2 hours is allocated for a table), 2 hours is nothing for a restaurant such as this, we had pre dinner drinks, 3 courses, cheese and wanted more wine but time was up! definitely no time for liquors and no choice to book a table for a longer time. This restaurant wouldn't be my choice for a special meal. Booking was for 5.30 and I would certainly think to stay till at least 9 and there was only 3 of us. Any more and it would need to be till 10 or later. Do people all eat and run nowadays.
We had a good late lunch with friends to celebrate a mix of birthdays and anniversaries so weren’t skimping on costs. Food and wines very good but what would have been an excellent visit was marred by a manager asking us to vacate our table in an 80% empty restaurant because we’d been there longer than our allocated time!!
We were in any event about to ask for our bill so this put an unnecessary damper on the event.
Very good. The service was excellent . As always a great buzz at the Ivy.
