The Ivy Cafe Richmond
Beautifully located near the river Thames and a few moments from Richmond Park, the restaurant features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining.
We had a good meal; as ever the food was very good. The place was manic and we had an awful table in a very busy area. Waiters running around us all evening.
One waiter kept dropping things. He smashed a cup then a bottle. The glass went everywhere. Right under our table. He then knocked over a glass of champagne. All over a guest at the next table. He didn’t apologise to us at any point. It was all a bit frantic with some poor chap coming out 3 times to sweep up glass. Meanwhile, a diner stood just next to our table to loudly tell another waitress off for being rude. I don’t know what happened but this should not have been allowed to continue for so long. All in all a bit of a shambles. Staff seem irritated and in a rush all the time.
Excellent food and service
Booked the Ivy for 1045 which I understand is a late booking but why even bother allowing people to book those times if as soon as you sit down in the restaurant you are rushed to order immediately and hovered around continuously to eat quickly and be made to feel anxious by the person serving you
Ordered sirloin steak medium rare which came out well done and was quite sinewy and chewy which was a shame.
The truffle parmesans French fries which are normally very nice came out cold and when we told the waiter he brought them back and I believe they may have been fried further And were extremely hard and crunchy.
Desert was nice at least ! Lol
Having regularly dined in the Ivy I’m hoping this is just a one off
I have eaten at The Ivy Cafe several times and have always enjoyed it, this evening was the same overall, but I would say that the chicken salad was a little lacking in taste .....
I love coming to The Ivy for breakfast. There is a good choice on the menu and always a lovely atmosphere.
This is a fun, lively place to meet friends or family. Staff are helpful and attentive. Noise levels are high with difficult acoustics, not a place for quiet chat.
Exceeded expectations once again! Well Done
We will keep coming back!
Good service and food
Service and Food excellent. A bit noisier than normal - combination of live music and very annoying loud woman on next table (Establishment can't do anything about that though)
The food was all fried. We had a vegetarian main which was fried as well. The food lacked flavour and I think the vegetarian menu lacks creativity. Look around it’s dated
Long may the Ivy in Richmond continue with it's high standards. I have tried one or two other branches which do not compare with this venue. Give the chefs a knighthood. Will be returning many times whilst it is at this level.
Super friendly and attentive staff made our day really special.
Always excellent food and service. Never disappoints.
I love the Ivy and the food. But I am increasingly disappointed with the service. This is the second time a waiter has dropped cutlery at my table. it is absolutely not the ‘polished’ Ivy experience I had when you first opened.
Perfect place! I would like to highly recommend to my friends.
Lovely touch to give me a birthday cake with a candle!
Amazing, loved it. I would book this again in a heartbeat.
I took my friend for her birthday and we both had the most delightful afternoon. Vegan food for me was delicious, she enjoyed the non vegan! Staff were so proffesional & courteous! Will definately go back!
Always great experience! Stunning food and ambiance. Lovely weekend treat to unwind!
Gorgeous restaurant, lovely food, polite and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.
Had a very nice meal with great service . Had a seat tucked away in a corner that wasn’t so good but all in all had a great time
Really lovely restaurant. Service was wonderful. Unfortunately the only Vegan main wasn’t available, so I had to order 3 side dishes. But it was very tasty.
Birthday for my hubby
My mother and I enjoyd what was ment to be a luncj, that turned out to be a 3 cours dinner at the Ivy Richmond on Saturday. The atmosphere and food was great and I will without a dought be back. I also requested a windows seat which they were able to provide. Thorougly enjoyable, thanx
Faultless prawn cocktail and eggs royale. Chips were amazing. I've never been let down by the food here.
Keep up the great service and outstanding food! Very well done!
We’ll be back!
Love the Ivy Cafe , great good , drinks and atmosphere. Service is always excellent although our waiter did seem to disappear after our dessert arrived and had to keep asking for things but still love this place 😊
I have been several times to The Ivy in different locations, and this was my 3rd visit to Richmond. I was very disappointed. We were very squashed in a corner and had to keep standing up or move chair in to let other people get to their time table in a corner. The service was very slow and the waiters seemed quite confused at times. My son ordered rib eye steak which at over £30 you imagine would look and taste fantastic - it was the opposite - very fatty and quite tough (he asked medium rare but it looked very rare) - we did not complain on the evening as did not want to spoil a family night out celebrating his 16th birthday.
Overall a very disappointing and expensive evening.
Nice decor and courteous staff. The prix fixe was good value and tasty. We also had two non alcoholic coctails which were lovely.
Service needs to be with a SMILE !!
Greeting hostess and 2 male waiters need to learn to SMILE
Friendly service, fantastic food and great buzz about the place
Delicious meal in a very attractive setting. Really nice vibe to the place and the service was relaxed but attentive. Highly recommended and we will be back.
Brilliant service- really attentive; good humoured man who couldn’t have been more helpful
Great food. Reasonable and plenty of vegetarian options
Fourth time dining here but first for dinner. Service was perfectly attentive but not rushed. Food was very god indeed
Staff are most helpful but there do not appear enough when busy
Although absolutely packed on a Tuesday night our reserved table was in a slightly quieter corner and with plenty of room. Service was exemplary as were our food choices and all delivered to the table at exactly the right time. Can't think of a nicer time I've had in a restaurant for a long time. All power to The Ivy's elbow!
P.S. Cocktails and house wine delicious.
Excellent service and food was perfect. Best desert I’ve had in years! Will definitely be back.
The Ivy has a beautiful botanical interior and creates a wonderful atmosphere. The service was great, however the food lacked some seasoning.
We opened with truffle arancini and duck liver parfait. My friend ordered the Shepherd's Pie which was outstanding, however my polenta cakes left much to be desired. We followed this up with a recommendation for a salted caramel espresso martini for dessert which was alright. I did mention the lack of flavour to our host, and the restaurant very kindly removed our dessert from the bill at the end.
Despite this, it has a wonderful central location which is close to Richmond Station and the waterfront terraces, and the drinks were reasonably priced.
Absolutely amazing place!
