we sat near a window and it was rather chilly. Unfortunately the waiter had rather bad body odour which was rather off putting but he was charming so the positive cancelled the negative. My crab linguine was delicious but had too much shell which spoilt it overall. should have complained but being too British we didn't.

It was my first time at one of the Ivy chain restaurants for lunch namely the Richmond restaurant, firstly finding somewhere suitable to sit in the dining room, we were placed between two tables with screaming babies either side, otherwise we had the choice of the creche with little children running around. Not a good start at all, finally we got a table next to the door under the blow heater, we settled for that. The set lunch menu was all prepared food, as in cold meats, main was chicken caeser salad or steak. nothing different, with just 3 choices for each course, we both felt the whole experience was uninspiring and unremarkable, other places to go in London and Richmond.

Excellent food and service - the scallops were delicious and the halibut outstanding.

Starting with the Ivy house champagne there was no problem to only one of us having a drink and the other wanting tap water. We started with the mushrooms on toast and the king prawns, both presented beautifully and so tasty. Main courses were the Aromatic Duck Curry, a firm favourite, just enough spice and served with jasmine rice - a size able portion, the other main was Chicken Milanese equally tasty. When I enquiries if it needed a side order I was told yes however to be honest there was enough watercress to mean that a side to share would have been better. Dessert was the Lemon Alaska meringue, sharp and citrusy, sweet and decadent. Atmosphere was quieter than usual but service was attentive and everything was perfect.

My wife's Birthday! They did not mention that fact however they did place a very small chocolate Happy Birthday on a desert we ordered! Not sure they would have done anything if we had not ordered a desert! We've experienced better in other restaurants previously. We do like the Ivy's and eaten in many just felt this was a let down as we are loyal customers! Ian Mason

Love the ivy cafe Richmond. It's consistently good and the Lavendar Lady cicktail is just amazing .
The seating staff are not polite, that's the only problem!
