The Ivy Royal Tunbridge Wells
Located on the bustling High Street of Royal Tunbridge Wells, the restaurant make for an ideal spot to enjoy an accessible all-encompassing menu, serving British classics from dawn until dusk, including breakfast, elevenses, weekend brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, light snacks, dinner and cocktails.
Great restaurant experience the best place in Tunbridge Wells great food excellent service staff attentive pleasant friendly!
Been to the Ivy a few times, but the most recent time was disappointing. Food was incredibly salty, and had to send it back (first time I’ve ever sent food back in a restaurant; I’m not usually one to complain). The staff gave us one free drink on the house to compensate (one soft drink, and one alcoholic) but didn’t seem overly apologietic.
This was my second visit to this restaurant and I was slightly disappointed that my meal, although the same as previously, wasn't quite as good.
Our waitress was very nice but the waiter was rather abrupt.
Service was really good, very attentive and couldn’t do enough to give you the best experience. Food was good and a great selection of vegan and vegetarian food. Only a few children options though. I had put on my booking that it was my daughters birthday and they very kindly brought out a lovely cake at the end of our meal. Made her feel very special.
Perfect service and really excellent food made this a special experience. It was a birthday celebration so much appreciated
I especially loved the Zucchini Fritti light and non oily - just as it should be. Arrancini were great too. In fact, all the food was s little bit special which is a clever trick if you are a chain! Well done
Lovely place excellent food went with friends for a birthday lunch and all enjoyed will certainly return
Excellent service, beautiful decor and food was excellent, all in all made it a very special birthday treat.
Amazing food, great service. When we want a special meal for a special occasion this is where we will be going.
A delightful experience which I would repeat at my earliest opportunity.
Our second visit to the ‘Ivy’ and again, a lovely treat. The service was good but maybe a little less attentive than our first visit. The food was delicious- fish cake and shepherd’s pie, but my husband felt the shepherd’s pie could have been a more generous size. I could not resist the chocolate bombe- fantastic. One small gripe; the ladies was a little scruffy with one tap not working and empty loo rolls.
First visit on a busy Saturday afternoon, unfortunately we were seated on a small table for two by the entrance to the toilets which didn't bode well. Staff quite quick with water and the bottle of wine we requested but then a long delay before our food order was taken and then only after requesting a waiter.
Food not bad but neither was it very good, just average.
The real problem was that the noise levels in this part of the restaurant were so high as to preclude normal conversation so we finished the main course and got out to the peace of the High Street where we got a decent cup of coffee in what I think was called The Java Bean cafe !
Fantastic night at The Ivy, fabulous food and excellent service.
Very good food , attentive staff , pleasant venue to dine , would recommend
We weren’t noticed when we walked into the restaurant which already was a negative and disappointing started for “ the ivy “ ( probably due to us looking very young and not seeming to look like the ivy standard )
The food was lovely, however we were not asked on how our food was whilst eating like others were around us.
And to top it all off, we were given the wrong receipt which incidently meant we were charged £35 less on our first receipt which not only made us feel worse ( as it was my birthday and we didn’t want it too expensive ) but how we could be charged so wrong.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Sarah was brilliant. Served us professionally and with a smile.
I took my grandparents for a brunch treat as the brunch menu looked brilliant. We were not disappointed, the food, service and atmosphere was wonderful. We will be going back again.
As always, the Ivy at Tunbridge Wells doesn’t disappoint. The food is of a consistently high level and the service is superb.
Brilliant as usual and sad to see Rico leaving and wish him all the best.
As always an excellent night at the wonderful TW Ivy. Food quality is as you expect top notch, but the service is outstanding. We will be back soon.
My only regularly recurring disappointment with the IVY is the temperature that the red wine is served at. Room temperature, behind the bar, where I am told it is kept is far too high. I suggest they invest in a temperature-controlled wine cabinet, so they get it right every time! Never ever serve red wine above 18 degrees C.
Perfectly acceptable food, well presented in convivial surroundings.
Bit of a limited vegetarian menu though - the shepherds pie was strangely flavourless.
Good all round
Tuna sashimi starter was excellent! The chocolate bombe for pudding was a real highlight! Wonderful waitress - friendly and efficient. All in all a great evening.
This review would have been much better but unfortunately we were hurried out of the restaurant, having only been in for 1 hour 35. We were not told that the table would be needed so this was incredibly disappointing. The staff deserved the service charge but it left a sour taste after a food meal
We had afternoon tea and were disappointed at the offering. Two of our party asked for no Dill in their sandwiches and twice they were given replacements with dill despite the salmon option having no mention of it on the menu. No attempt was made to offer a freshly made round of sandwiches, just more of the one option they could eat. In the end they had half the number of sandwiches they should have enjoyed. The food was ok, nothing particularly special. We also had some confusion over the bill which was very difficult to understand. I would say the afternoon tea is over priced.
Very professional service from beginning to end. I suffer with allergies and they were very informative and reassuring that everything was okay. Amazing food & drinks !
Me and my fiancé went for breakfast and Saturday and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be going back!
Outstanding food, very well presented. The best meal that we have had at an Ivy restaurant (we are frequent visitors to Ivy restaurants in several different locations).
A really lovely lunch with my
Two sons and a very helpful member of staff who ordered a taxi for us and then followed it up when it did not appear. However my chicken Milanese was dry and a bit tasteless and the pasta starter my two sons had tasted good but again was a bit dry.
Great food & service. I took my friend for her Birthday & she loved it. They even brought her over a little cake with a candle & happy birthday chocolate even though she didn’t order a pudding.
Yet another great meal, really enjoyed our evening, good service as usual, very tasty food as you would expect for the price. Feels special & a lovely atmosphere. Well looked after, looking forward to our next visit 😋
The food (fish and chips) not as good as last time but the service was fantastic.
The visit was unforgettable, excellent food, beautiful restaurant and exceptionally helpful staff. It is somewhat higher priced than other venues but the quality of the food makes it great value and for a special occassion it is ideal. We visited mid week and it was quiet until becoming quite busy around lunch time but the noise levels were low enough for a quiet conversation even then. I would highly recommend the Ivy to anyone.
Not quite as up-market as I had assumed, a slightly grander version of Cote, in truth but very nice all the same! French onion soup - good; pate - average; burger - average; fish shepherd's pis - disappointing. Wine reasonably priced, service attentive but not oppressive (but I always hate not being able to pour my own wine and having to ask or, even more annoyingly, having it topped up in the hope that you'll buy another bottle!)
So, for smart casual, unfussy eating, in a pleasant atmosphere, The Ivy in TW is fine (but don't be led to believe that it's smarter than that!
Good ambience and regular food quality for a chain restaurant.
The service, although the waiters were very competent, the food deliver took too long...we had to wait almost 40 minutes for the mains.
Apart from this, the overall experience was very good.
Last time we visited everything was very good. This time our table wasn’t ready and we were left waiting in the doorway for over 10 minutes. No offer of a drink and a half hearted apology. Two small tables were then pushed together for our party. The food was just ‘alright’ but the price tag for what it is makes it too high for the quality and quantity. I think as the restaurant has got so busy the level of care has gone, they know there are more people that there are tables at the weekend so don’t really care whether the service is good or not.
Very disappointing. We will not be going back, it’s just not special any more.
Disappointing as this has the potential to be very good. We arrived 10 mins late only to be told that we would have to gone in 2 hours. We did try to ring to say we were on our way but no one answered the phone. We ordered tempura prawns with squid for starters. Only 2 very small prawns rest was squid! Steaks were good as was the fish and black cod. Desserts good too. This was our third visit which was let down by being treated like naughty school children when we first arrived. We paid over £60 a head and to restrict your slot to 2 hours is unacceptable for a restaurant in this sector. There are plenty of other very good restaurants and pubs in the area where you are made to feel more welcome and the food is better.
The special gin and tonic was very poor. In spite of having extra measure of gin , it still tasted extremely watery, nothing like the last one I had in the summer.
The food was average, but everything is a bit pressured as they want to turn the tables over.
Was a lovely evening until halfway through our desert and we were told you have 10 minutes before the next booking is due. Then manager and waiter kept looking to see if we had finished so they could usher us out. Spoilt what was a lovely night out, and in hindsight wish I had declined the service charge.
Such a special & lovely lunch for my mum’s Birthday. Waitress was super... food delicious. Cannot wait to go back!
