Lovely food but there was a 25mins delay till we got our table, booked at 13:30. As the only parking available in the Village was for 2hrs, this could have been a real problem but luckily the parking warden hadn’t quite made it to my car. A reply of it’s not our problem - it’s a business after all - perhaps wasn’t the most sympathetic of replies from the restaurant.
Lovely food and atmosphere, very welcoming staff and very attentive. Booking recommended as it was packed even on a miserable, wet Saturday afternoon in February!
I’ve been to the Ivy Cafe in Wimbledon a few times before and whilst I have always enjoyed it, I never really felt the urge to write a review. However, our meal at the Ivy Cafe Wimbledon on Friday 14th February was fantastic and whilst they had run out of the tuna, the lemon sole and the scallop risotto were excellent alternatives. The service is excellent and the waiting staff are always very welcoming and attentive. Drink prices are on the higher side but the quality of the house wines, particularly the Malbec that I had on Friday are excellent. Having said that, food is great value, considering the reputation that the Ivy chain of restaurants enjoys. My thanks to the team on Friday evening and also my apologies that we perhaps overstayed our welcome, being the last customers to leave the restaurant!
Brilliant night out at the Ivy Wimbledon Village for Valentine’s Day. My first visit - long, long overdue - since it opened four years ago. The experience totally delivered in typical Ivy style. The Danby room provided a good ambience with Art Deco decor and images of Wimbledon House on the walls. Really good atmosphere. Three other tables were dining. The service was excellent: friendly and professional. The food was also top notch, from the salmon and scallops that I and my girlfriend had respectively for starters, to the scallop risotto and half chicken that we had for main course. It was topped off with the banana ice cream and deconstructed brownie for dessert which was also excellent. My only qualm would be that the only way of telling it was Valentine’s Day was by the offer of the Valentine’s cheesecake for dessert, which we didn’t go for. But other than that the Ivy Wimbledon Village delivered in typical fine Ivy style. I look forward to returning in due course.
Amazing food, great service and will definitely be returning soon. Had a lovely Valentines evening!
Was not easy to find but the restaurant was beautiful and the staff were so welcoming. The food is amazing and I would recommend going every day of the week. Will definitely visit again!
Very nice ambience. But slightly disappointing, all round. We had the afternoon tea. The sandwiches weren’t the freshest (tasted like they had been in a fridge, certainly made sometime before). The cakes and scones were nice. We were not offered any top ups of tea, which is usual for an afternoon tea elsewhere. With the addition of the compulsory service charge it was rather on the expensive side, given the quality and level of service. All in all, I’m afraid to say we’ve had much better value elsewhere.
A lovely experience all round. Staff great, food delicious. Quick service.
We were very surprised to see goods being delivered at the front of the restaurant and being wheeled through the middle of the restaurant on large trolleys several times during our brunch!! This did not add to the ambience!
Jam and butter were served with the pastries, however, there was no requirement for this as we weren’t served croissants. Pain au raisin and pain au chocolate do not need jam and butter!
There was a lot of inconsistency. 2 out of 3 eggs royals had paprika, we asked for avocado toast we were given muffins, I asked for the beet it and it didn’t arrive I had to ask twice. I asked for hot almond milk I got cold.
A wonderful evening and our first time at the Ivy. The combination of great food, fantastic service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere made for a fabulous meal.
Nice food, told table not ready even although we saw it was and we were escorted to the bar!
We enjoyed everything except the noise. We were unable to have a conversation because of loud chatter from everyone around us. We will not come again - at least in a group of more than 4.
Service and food was amazing from the time we entered until we left. My wife enjoyed the surprise. Thank you. We will be back very soon
The kipper was just a little too dry, but the service, with a very charming waitress, was excellent. We left feeling contented
My wife's salmon was under cooked. Despite querying this, the waitress said she would mention it to the chef. She returned stating that the chef said that is how it should be cooked. My wife was asked if she would likes something else but by this time I had finished my meal and it seemed pointless.
Favourite place to go for a special occassion.
Service is excellent, staff are so attentive.
Classic menu to cater for everyone
The Ivy cafe in Wimbledon is a wonderful place to go for a celebration. The ambiance and superb food make it extra special. We took a friend to lunch to celebrate his retirement and we all loved it. I would certainly recommend The Ivy in Wimbledon and would go again for the next special occasion.
Both food and service quality is great . Lunch menu satisfy all of us .
Lovely place for Birthday lunch
Would go here again without the car as parking in Wimbledon is a pain
Food was ok at best.
Service was good
Main issue was my wife h
Slightly smaller than the normal Ivy places but cosier! Ambiance just as good. Will go again!
The manager was very rude and hovered constantly around the table hurrying staff to clear away plates and get us out of there as quickly as possible not a nice feeling at all he made us feel very uncomfortable and not welcome at all it was all about getting us served and out!!! Very dissatisfied and disappointed with this kind of behaviour!!!
I love Ivy's afternoon tea as it is really good value for money in a beautiful setting however with this one the sandwich bread was very dry (it had obviously been left out for a long time and didn't taste freshly made). Otherwise good
We have been to the Ivy Cafe Wimbledon on several occasions and every single time we arrive, our table is not ready. On this occasion we were meeting friends who were visiting from Singapore and had to wait almost half an hour for our table to be ready, which made us have to cut our lunch short as we were then running late for another booking elsewhere. This aspect really really lets the restaurant down as it is otherwise a nice place to be.
Great venue. Food was delicious and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely lunch with family and would definitely return.
Fantastic. Everything I expected, the service the food.
From the set menu at affordable prices , food was great
Service was very slow. Also did not feel that welcoming.
We were visiting Wimbledon so did a quick search of restaurants. The Ivy was about 6/7 down the list but as we've eaten at The Ivy elsewhere we kind of hoped it would be as good. Everything was great, quick and attentive service from 2 members of staff. Hard to choose from the menu as there were some great dishes and I'm very indecisive. Wines a tad on the expensive side but was worth it. Favourite dish - Pumpkin soup. Parking up to 5 hours, just a 3 minute walk away. Nicely situated in Wimbledon Village. A very pleasant lunch indeed.
I did email yesterday. I was a little bit disappointed yesterday as I had the pancakes but the bottom pancake was difffcult to cut into it had probably been microwaved for too long. I normally love the food at the Ivy.
Very enjoyable breakfast with a friend, very pleasant surroundings if a little compact. Have visited a few times and am a happy returning customer
excellent service and food
We love it . Always get together with my girlfriend at Ivy ! X
Really like the table that we sat at the back of the restaurant in the greenhouse, nice and quiet
Fantastic evening, great food and service, the only thing was it was really noisy but didn’t spoil our evening
We always have a great time here, I think it is one of the best overall restaurants we go to with the right balance of price and quality all in a relaxed but efficient atmosphere.
I was disappointed on the service received when a glass my daughter was drinking from, the whole of the bottom of the glass broke away and soaked my daughters lap and even her shoes. The glass was obviously damaged. We were also charged for the drink which I had to request to be removed from the bill. It would have been appreciated if a discount was given and feel this should have automatically been offered.
Had our regular friend brunch at the Ivy. As always the food was good and our waitress was very attentive.
As we go regularly I’m finding it difficult to choose what to eat as the menu never seems to change. There was a ‘specials’ menu but nothing suitable for brunch.
Overall though it continues to be a great place to meet with friends.
This is the first time I visited Ivy’s in Wimbledon as I recently moved to Wimbledon from Chelsea as I had been a regular to The Chelsea branch.
Wimbledon branch is not as glamorous as the Chelsea one but food is definitely better quality, I didn’t like the attitude of the lady who showed us to our table as when I said can she give us a bigger table she said No - this was 9:45 on a Saturday morning when we were the only customers and almost all the other tables were empty !! She said they will get busy in 15 min ?!?!? She didn’t even try to make me happy and from a famous branch like Ivy’s this was very disappointing.
Food quality and coffee was however excellent and the waiter who served us was exceptionally polite and attentive.
The table next to us was given to a group of guys who were very loud and I found it rather disturbing, the restaurant manger didn’t make any attempt to ask them to consider others .
I very much enjoyed my breakfast but noise level and the rude lady spoiled it a bit .
