Ivy Cafe, Wimbledon Ratings and Reviews
We went there for an early evening set meal. Although it was a two course special, the staff made us feel like diners who were having a full meal and spending lots of money. Food was excellent and very good value for money. So was the location of our table. Overall a Great setting, which I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.
Its amazing how a restaurant can be successful on the basis of its service and not just the quality of its food. The maître d here was truly exceptional and certainly took the experience of a well known restaurant to another level, the menu was quantiful in choice, perfect in portion size and very tasty. The Ivy have done a great job in taking their world renowned recipe of success to a number of smaller locations accross London.
'Crowned a Special Occasion'
We have been to the Ivy Wimbledon a few times and as ever this visit did not disappoint! Being an Adoption Day anniversary we wanted the celebration to be memorable and as usual the service and food quality were faultless. The service was attentive without being intrusive; the food - all courses lived up to our expectations - and comprised selections of delicious truffle arancini, sourdough bread seasoned with Cornish sea salt tasted of the coast and the oak smoked salmon and dressed crab with rye was melt-in-the-mouth wonderful. The mains of Halibut (special) with grapefruit dressing was inspired and the old favourites of mustard crusted shoulder of lamb, battered fish and chips with minted pureed peas, and steak, eggs and chips were wolfed down with eagerness and smiles! The flourless cappuccino chocolate cake was a triumph.
This time we tried some new drinks and the English Spritz cocktail and Rosemary lemonade were clear hits! We had a lovely evening and the complimentary salted caramel truffles and anniversary chocolate sweets were a thoughtful touch and were appreciated. We are looking forward to our next visit.
A great birthday brunch- around 11 AM on a Sunday morning- the Viennese cafe style decor and ambience never fails to impress. The smoothies are a great way to start. Pancakes, smoked salmon, eggs benedict and eggs royale are all highly recommended. Did not see their Viennese pastry selection of small bakery items on a tray this time. Overall a great outing. Feels especially cheerful on a sunny day on Wimbledon village. One suggestion would be for them to serve the black coffee in pots rather than cups, so people can have a second cup.
