Nice venue, staff engaging but over extended, food ordinary. Shared my experience with a trusted foodie friend and he aligned with my take. He did say the midsummer G&T is amazing, I can say the Zinfandel was a treat.
Service was a tad slow but very good all the same. Great food and good value though.
Not our first visit, and once again service very good as was all of our meals. Would recommend without hesitation and have to several friends.
Very enjoyable meal with charming service. Food selection and quality good. Whilst tables are 'ok', they are a bit close together and it's impossible not to overhear... Be overheard! Not cheap (£125 for 2, three courses and bottle of House wine) but I didn't mind paying it as the meal overall was worth it. Totally dislike the 2 hour limit on the table when booking... Let's it down terribly. We were over 2.5 hours at lunchtime and that was because we weren't rushed. If I had the cup of coffee I wanted (but couldn't because the final service was very slow) we would have been 3 hours because of the way the restaurant operates, not because we were slow. But very good overall... Will certainly return.
Booked afternoon tea for a friend’s birthday. Good ambience and decor etc. but service was slow and didn’t feel you got very much for your money. As a vegetarian I was given 2 finger sandwiches instead of 3, despite notifying them a few days before. Left still feeling a little peckish.
Three of us had an excellent meal at the Ivy on Sunday, and appreciated very much that this time we were given a table in our preferred area. Cheerful and efficient service from our waiter, really yummy food but a bit of a long wait for drinks.... All in all it was a really enjoyable experience and we're looking forward to going back soon.
I have eaten there several times and been really pleased - so much so that I have recommended it to a number of friends. However, yesterday`s meal was disappointing - Steak sandwich - I chose `pink` when asked how I wanted it but it was more like well done when it arrived. A little difficult to complain as my friend was paying but I did mention it to the waitress when she asked a second time if everything was all right. Really disappointing especially as I had recommended The Ivy to my friend.
Good food but more casual than we were expecting. Overall not bad.
We went for an anniversary meal & really enjoyed our meal. Lovely food & brilliant service. The chocolate bomb dessert was fantastic. Wine slightly pricey but as it was a special occasion it didn’t matter too much. Will definitely go again.
Best restaurant experience in a while. The venue is lovely, the food fantastic (really recommend the tempura prawns and the monkfish curry). Cocktails were very good. The service especially from Chloe was outstanding. We spent quite a fair bit but you get what you pay for and this was well worth it. Big thanks to everyone. Look forward to coming back.
The atmosphere was very special but not too formal which is great. The relax yet professional feel really makes this restaurant unique. Food was outstanding-we loved monk fish! Wine was superb too. Service was friendly and we enjoyed dining at The Ivy, we would recommend it to our family and colleagues.
The ambiance of this restaurant was slightly dark to make it cosy but it was a bit crowded to feel it that way. To my surprise, for an upmarket restaurant that Ivy introduces itself some of the customers came in with short leggings I could only describe that they looked like cycling shorts. I assume because it was a lunch time and hoping that in the evening that would be different. The bar looks fantastic and and I had non alcoholic cocktail, which was delicious. The food also was very good. One of our party had lactose intolerance and we felt that they were not prepared for a customer like that even though they served her some replacement items.
I still recommend Ivy Cambridge to my friends and will go there again.
Went for husbands birthday celebrations - really could not fault the lunch - food was fabulous! Service great - overall a lovely meal out - will be back!
Having eaten here shortly after they opened, I chose to celebrate my Birthday here with my brother and 2 longtime female friends.
The front of house staff gave us a lovely smiling greeting, and had selected a perfect oval window table for us.
We chose a glass of champagne whilst deciding on our lunch Mains dishes - Salmon and Smoked Haddock Fishcake for me, Fish & Chips for my brother, Ivy Burger and Prawn Cocktail with Truffle and Parmesan Chips for the ladies, all served correctly on really hot plates where appropriate (other restaurants take note!)
Desserts included 2 x Chocolate Bombes, Frozen Berries and Apple Tart Fine, accompanied by 10 year old Port, Sauternes and a fine Red Wine.
Whilst these dishes may sound plain, they are of course something special at the Ivy, with amazing flavours, surprise additions and presentation of the highest standard.
The Waitress and Wine service was exactly appropriate without being intrusive. At The Ivy, they don't need to constantly ask, 'Is the food all ok?', because it doesn't come out of the kitchen unless it meets the Chef's standard.
The most delightful surprise was when a waitress presented a small Tart with Raspberries in Creme Anglaise plus sliver lighted candle and chocolate wafer with Happy Birthday written on it with the desserts - such thoughtful and lovely attention to detail.
We all thoroughly enjoyed dining here amongst the wonderful Art Deco surroundings and ambience, and I know it won't be the last time either! Highly recommended.
Great service, lovely surroundings, very very disappointing choice for vegetarians 🙁
I’ve been twice now for different occasions, both visits were great! Would highly recommend it and can’t wait to go back!!
Had a really lovely time , would definitely go again
Very impressed with the food and service. We went for lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. Lovely atmosphere. Would easily recommend
Had a really lovely time, meeting up with old friends in superb surroundings, delicious food and attentive staff.
Table was too small, requested another one but “sorry we are fully booked” while a larger table was available and not used during our dinner
Really friendly and welcoming staff. Made to feel really special on our wedding anniversary
Great atmosphere, beautiful delicious food, outstanding service
Decor was amazing. All the staff were very attentive. Lots of choice on the menu. We all felt we had chosen well exquisite tastes. We are going to make another booking
Exceptional service, beautifully presented and tasty cuisine.
A very pleasant dining experience in my neighbourhood. Fresh and tasty food, friendly and efficient service. Price is reasonable as well. This will be my favourite meeting point with my friends in the future.
Attentive service, all requests/questions answered to our satisfaction, no rushing to order or eat. Food as described on menu and delicious. Plenty of options to choose from and the dessert was amazing! My friend and I were both celebrating birthdays and a lovely birthday treat (with candle) was a welcome and lovely surprise.
Arrived and restaurant is stunning and perfectly decorated inside to be quirky wherever you are sat. We had 3 courses which were all amazing and cocktails were also lush. Will def come again for a special event - not cheap but worth the extra money
On arrival the staff struggled to find our booking and then we had really poor service throughout the evening. We waited an hour for the first course and another hour for the second one. Even the compensatory glass of wine took 10 minutes to arrive.
Four friends met for lunch and we really enjoyed it. Service was excellent, we were made to feel very welcome, and were delighted with the ambience. We struggled to absorb the choices on the menu, but were all happy when we eventually made our decision. We were quite noisy, but everyone else around us was equally so, which created a good, buzzing atmosphere. We will certainly return.
Went to The Ivy for lunch with my friend from Dubai and my 1 month old daughter. Firstly the staff were amazing and so friendly. Gave us a great table in a quite area as my daughter was sleeping and with room to park the Pram right next to us.
As a new mother I’m still trying to get use to changing my daughter outside our hone and the facilities at The Ivy were brilliant.
Food wise I had the chicken Milanese and it was as good as those I’ve had in Italy. My friend and I also sampled the cocktails which were great.
Overall fantastic service, fantastic food and a fantastic time. Even my friend was impressed and she is use to the high levels of the luxurious Dubai.
Went to this restaurant with my wife for our 13th wedding anniversary. I did mention that on my reservation and was happily surprise by the “Happy Anniversary” compliment on arrival! Service and food 5 stars and the restaurant itself is amazingly well decorated. A must go!! My only “complaint” was that I wanted to tip the waiter who served us but there was no option on the card machine (as usually found on other restaurants). Nowadays I never even carry a wallet so having only my debit card on my wallet I couldn’t leave the well deserved tip...
Great, really nice place. Recommended
Been to other branches before - consistent in decor. Door staff and wait staff were adequate. Quite a wait for mains and then the avocado in my main was not ripe so had to send my meal back. My husband then had eaten his meal before mine arrived. Basic error not even involving cooking. Got a verbal apology. Overall average experience.
Fab lunch, lovely decor, stylish, friendly waiters
Great Sunday breakfast
You will not be disappointed - good atmosphere and range of prices on the menu. Surprisingly good value!
Excellent service from all staff. Food and environment lovely
Awesome location, beautiful decor and food was fabulous but the poor service really let the restaurant down. We had to keep chasing the waitress to get our order placed, drinks were repeatedly wrong, requests for condiments forgotten and long delays waiting for bill. Such a shame as really spoilt what should have been an awesome evening as the food was delicious - not the service we receive in london.
This was our first visit and we were impressed by pretty well everything. We dined on a very busy Friday evening, and the welcome was friendly and efficient. They make a great Dry Martini and the food was faultless. Classy professional and unobtrusive service. The decor and atmosphere were also excellent - noisy, but one could still have a proper conversation. A good addition to Cambridge and we will definitely go again.
Excellent food and very friendly, helpful and attentive staff
