The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie
This was my second visit to the Ivy and it was just as good as the first. Good quality food, well presented and just the right amount for lunch. I have just booked dinner for five in September and am looking forward to it already!
Excellent ambience, excellent food but unfortunately the service was lacking. After arrival we were left at least 10 minutes prior to anyone sending water even, and then waiter and waitress both did not speak in full sentences, and it was hard to understand and hear what they were saying. The service was not equal to the ambience, excellent food and expense which was a shame. It would be great if you could train your waiters and waitresses to project their voices and speak more clearly and with full sentences rather than just one word at a time.
Loved the atmosphere and decoration, even at 7:30 on a Monday it had a great buzz. The food was great - Lemon Sole special was fantastic, service was fantastic. Will definitely be heading back soon.
Always a very enjoyable experience, fantastic food and excellent waiting staff
The service and food was brilliant and the staff all very polite and attentive. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Cambridge. It was also nice to see a restaurant that still uses white table cloths. Will definitely be returning.
We had the most amazing wedding anniversary lunch. Great service, friendly waitress/waiter and the food was delicious.
This was lovely apart from the noise. There was a table full of blokes joshing to see who could shout the loudest and two children screaming and crying most of the time. We were not the only people disgruntled by this. The waiting staff looked embarrassed but did nothing about it.
I attended The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie with two friends on 13th July to celebrate my 30th Birthday. I have wanted to go for such a long time and was not disappointed.
Always fab atmosphere and great food at good prices. our waiters were lovely but service a smidgen slow - asked a few times for a glass of wine and then we were given wrong bill
Perfect start to finish!
After taking our order the specials 3 out of our party of 4 wanted had sold out. Then after choosing new mains our friends original side was missed off after specifying again. Then one of our parties main was late to the table vs the rest. Disappointing for the ivy.
Lovely experience as always . Good delicious and champagne good
This is the fifth time I've been here, and each time it hasn't disappointed. The service is friendly and professional and the food is always excellent. The Ivy is rapidly becoming my favourite restaurant in Cambridge.
Poor quality of food salad boys were yellow service appalling for breakfast which I know is t usual standards but sorry to have to say
No scrambled eggs that didn’t arrive toast was cold
Just a mess
Booked afternoon tea with a friend. The savoury element of this was very disappointing. Didn’t seem particularly fresh & 1 cumber finger sandwich, 1 tiny piece of rye bread with pipped cream cheese & smoked salmon, a very uninspiring filled mini brioche. Too many sweet elements nice enough but nothing to rave about, the best thing was a tiny doughnut filled with creme patisserie. Service ok & nice silverware. Comfortable seating. Wouldn’t recommend the afternoon tea but would be interesting to see what the other menus are like
This was our second visit to the brasserie. One the whole it was excellent, a good and varied menu, a pleasant room and, once it actually started, well-paced, friendly service. The only niggles are very small ones. We arrived exactly on time but our table wasn't ready and we were left waiting in the foyer for about 5 minutes. On being admitted to the restaurant we had to wait 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order (we had obviously been forgotten) and we only managed to order then because, in desperation we grabbed someone.
Good food. Nice ambience. Fixed menu is reasonably good value
A lovely refined atmosphere and attentive service. Nice big tables and very pleasant live jazz music on the Wednesday that we were there. A wide ranging menu and good drinks selection. We enjoyed our sea bass and apple tarte tartin. Prices were reasonable though £100 for 2 is typical once you order sides and a couple of drinks.
Considering we arrived really early we found the service very disappointing. When the food came through it sat on a table for just over 5 mins before it was brought to us by this time the food was cold. During this time there were 6 members of staff who walked passed our food and didn’t bring it to us!
When we advised the member of staff that it was cold they changed it but again it was put on a table awaiting for it to be delivered to our table. After a couple of mins of it standing there nobody brought it to us so we got it ourselves!
Very disappointing ....
I’ve been numerous times to your restaurant and won’t be rushing back
Great breakfast, really enjoyed the pancakes! Also fantastic staff.
Great food and a very 1920’s feel in some ways. Though staff weren’t always around, as the restaurant was rather busy, they were impeccably dressed and very helpful indeed.
We took friends for their first visit to the Ivy (it was our third) and they were impressed with the choice of menu and the whole experience. I think they will return!
Food was delicious
Our first waiter Alex , incorrectly took our order for starters and main , despite correcting him .
This meant I ate my starter on my own as the other starters would have gone cold.
Another waiter took over and our mains were perfect however, our service was then slow with drinks etc having to be asked for twice as we did not then have an allocated waiter.
The bill was not adjusted to reflect the mishap .
Excellent service, food very good. Would highly recommend.
As a regular visitor to the restaurant I was extremely disappointed this time.
My own fault for not checking the bill before paying. Discovered later in the day I had paid an additional £20 plus tip for another customers meal that had been out on the wrong bill!
Have considered calling them to discuss but not sure how far I would get.
The fish pie was incredible... shame the service is slow and the wrong order came out and they couldn’t replace it with what we’d actually asked for.
Disappointing, had to wait over an hour for the main courses. When the mains finally arrived the food wasn’t very good. I won’t be going back.
Tasty food and good service! would definitely visit again!
A very lovely experience. Waiter very attentive. Food was excellent. Good allergy and intolerance knowledge and menu. Excellent wine and cocktails. A great place to go for a special occasion.
A fabulous venue with really good food, excellent service and lovely surroundings
Very nice meal with friends for a Birthday treat..., service was good and efficient, staff were friendly and welcoming... food was served with just the right amount of time in between courses.
We all really enjoyed the experience and will definitely come again.
We have dined before and the experience was good, that is why we went back. The food was lovely and in particular the dessert I had which was the apple tart with brandy. The service was a bit slow but very polite waiters . Would recommend it overall.
Fab brunch and a great table in the window to people watch!
I have been to several of The Ivys now and this one didn’t disappoint. Food was excellent and the service charming and not pushy (although my very favourite waiter from Cheltenham Ivy would have made it tip top). My only criticism was the music where we were seated was a little too loud and not background music. I think when you notice music of any kind in a restaurant it means the volume needs moving just a shade. Always have the apple tart. OMG calvados heaven!
Better food than some Ivy branches. Welcoming staff. Good variety of wine, tho'more description would be useful.
Birthday lunch, service slow and inattentive. Food average for the price but acceptable. Service fee too high considering what it was like.
The food was very good, the service was thoughtful the only minus was the noise
Service was very slow and for £175 per couple that’s not great!
Lovely meal in stylish, comfortable and vibrant surroundings. However the drinks waiters were a little chaotic! It was occasionally hard to understand some of the very strong accents of the waiters but they were polite, friendly and courteous. Overall really enjoyed everything and would definitely return.
