Had lunch catching up with a friend. Lovely surroundings, good service and excellent food.
An ideal restaurant for lunch, will definitely be back.
Very nice but a bit pricey and it was very cold inside. Lots of menu options. Portions could have been larger. Great service.
Went on a Monday night , so was quiet but still had an excellent time, great food .
Very expensive for what it was.
Lovely afternoon with my !! Great food and lovely staff would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Had a good evening celebrating a family birthday. Food was good quality. Only spoilt by the fact that our shared starter did not arrive and they did not appear to had realised until we mentioned it. Of course it was taken off the bill but nothing to compensate just their apologies
Excellent all round, second visit and will definitely be back.
A fantastic meal with plenty of attention to detail with the service.
The ambience is great, and all round a pleasurable experience
The desserts ! Wow I couldn’t finish my blackberry ice cream sundae. Seriously half that quantity slightly cheaper would be perfect.
Meat was delicious and just as I ordered. Chips could have been hotter but I’m being picky now.
Your staff are a major strong point and a joy! Knowledgeable friendly and attentive we thought they all did a great job.
Another excellent meal. Service and food were impeccable and atmosphere was warm and friendly.
This is the second time I have visited The Ivy and while the food has been good, the whole dining experience has been let down by the rather hap hazard manner in which the orders have been served. Drinks have come randomly in ones and two rather as a group of four, as per the food. On both occasions, items have been missed and we have had to hasten the staff.
I don't want to be too dismissive of the venue as the staff are very polite and courteous , but a greater attention to detail must be given to the overall service standard, as it is spoiling what should be a really good dining experience
The service was good, but it was slow. I had been warned by friends that it was slow, but thought they were exaggerating, but no, it is really slow. But everyone is very nice.
The food was good, but not amazing, but I only tried brunch. I had the eggs benedict, which was nice.
I would definitely go back for maybe lunch and give it another go :).
The decor is lovely and it has a nice vibe.
Amazing food but poor service. Had to remind them we even had a table booked and food took AGES to arrive. They did give us our wine free though to compensate. The final bill was wrong as they’d charged us for a wrong starter that also arrived by mistake! When we did finally eat the food was exquisite though
Really disappointing. This was my fourth visit (previous three have been mid week or brunch/lunch) but first on a Saturday night. Was celebrating my birthday. Service was awful, when we explained that we needed to catch the last train home and had asked for dessert menu repeatedly, we were told with a shrug, “it’s Saturday” and that the table next to us had waited 45 mins for their meal. Not sure I’d ever go back on a Saturday and it really took the edge off my celebration meal.
It was a bit of a disaster really; long long wait wrong food at wrong times and very average food. So bad was the whole experience that our party of 6 did not pay at all. It’s disappointing as I love the Ivy. Best at a quiet time, really impossible to deliver good quality food and good service when doing so many covers in such a short time. Smaller menu. Three starters three mains three sweets, like the French. Narrow the choice raise the bar. I will be back because the people are actually very nice but never ever st a busy time . Breakfasts and mid week lunches for me from now on
Our first time at this restaurant. Nice and bright, good friendly service, not rushed but timely. The servers seemed happy to spend time with diners - rather than "take the order and run".
Food quality excellent.
If anything the noise level was more than "energetic" - until a large party nearby were served, but the noise level rose again when they`d finished eating.
Other tables were more demure, and non-intrusive.
We chose a bottle of wine at £28 (there were several less expensive) but were a tad disappointed as it did not appear, nor taste "special", but was quaffable. We did not wish to pay upwards of this sum for a bottle given that our main courses were priced at a reasonable £13.75 and £16.50.
We would return and recommend the restaurant to others.
Slow service but food was ok although not everything from the menu was available. Frustrated by the assumption of an automatic 12.5% service charge rather than allowing personal choice . We wont be rushing back .....
Amazing food, great staff and attention to detail was spot on. Highly recommend The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie.
Great atmosphere especially at the bar but the service that night was dreadful, which is unusual. We waited an hour between starter and main and it was cold when it turned up with part of the order wrong. Constantly reminding waiter for our drinks too, not good and no excuse and a frustrating evening out . Hope it will be better next time.
Food, location, ambiance and decor is great but the poor service lets it down.
Having to flag waiters down to order drinks all night whilst having a meal.
We ended up having to leave our table whilst dinning to ask for drinks at the bar which isn't what you expect when spending £100 P/Head.
Really enjoyed our evening here, amazing cocktails, great food and excellent service.
We celebrated our 5th anniversary here and it topped the evening off. The food we chose was wonderful. A mixture of flavours to tickle the taste buds and the portion size was good too. Very polite and help waiter William was informative when asked questions. Would recommend to friends and family and revisit again
Had a very pleasant evening meal a la carte. The outstanding aspect of this place was its ambience with colourful posters, and leather seats and it is for these aspects that I will return. I was also told the loos were excellent. For a brasserie some level of pretension in serving soup from a jug (and not as hot as I would have expected) , and flambéing desserts at the table. The meal was good, but with limited choices, and quite expensive for what it was.
Well organised welcome and OK preparation of table that was not quite ready. Sparkling water provided immediately in a large bottle. Interesting (bistro type) menu; expensive wine list given the food prices. Order taken efficiently, without much help from the waitress. Glass of red wine arrived, but we then had to ask for our bottle of white: both were excellent and expensive. Then a long wait (45 minutes?) for food to arrive, without any explanation. Our glasses were topped up once, and then we got forgotten and had to fetch the bottle from 10 m away to refill our glasses. And when we were finally remembered, it was too late to order a desert. My steak tartare was OK but not as smooth as it might be (it was strip sirloin, hand chopped but into about 2mm dice), with rather harsh raw onions, lots of rather dry parsley and no capers. Tabasco, worcester sauce, olive oil and lemon were provided separately for me to mix in with the raw egg yolk, but I had to ask for a second fork to do the mixing. My friends' fish and vegetarian dishes were generally regarded as good.
Feels a bit special and very relaxing. Modern well designed decor. Had lunch on 4 occasions with different friends incuding my goddaughter. Everyone has always enjoyed the environment and the food.
I was a little disappointed with my main course, I would have preferred my halloumi more roasted, it was rather white and unappetising and it was in a large chunk. Other ingredients and accompanying sauce were perfect.
It was very cold in our part of the restaurant but that was soon rectified when we mentioned it. Very noisy.
This is the second time we’ve eaten here - food and atmosphere good once again, but the only thing which slightly marred an otherwise enjoyable evening was the slow service. Our food wasn’t exactly quick in appearing - and the people on the table next to us had to wait about half an hour at least for their main course. Another table had to physically wave a menu several times in the air to attract a waiter’s attention. For a restaurant which trades on a famous name, and in a very competitive sector, you can’t be sloppy with service and attention.
Would we dine here again? Probably - but I’d want to see if reviews indicated the service had improved.
I went for a leaving do and found the sea bass to be so bland. It's had some watercress, some olives and a few capers. Usually strong flavours but it did nothing for me.
I'd go back to try a breakfast or afternoon tea which should be safe.
I just felt for the money it wasn't great and needed more side dishes. Same for my friends.
Otherwise gorgeous interior and lovely staff.
Lovely food. Beautiful decor and fantastic service
This was our first visit to the Ivy, and we will be coming back. The pre-theatre menu was excellent value.
Overall a pleasant experience. Quickly served by friendly staff with excellent meal. Good ambiance and would definitely return.
Not a great experience overall, a Wednesday lunchtime. Food poor, service poor & would prefer service to be without chewing gum! Not nice! Starter was tasty but overcooked & ate it. We Explained during our main meal that it wasn't good.. chicken overcooked by a week! Lumps of Grissle in my bacon, side order of spinach served unseasoned & cold. We were advised by the waitress that she would speak to the manager but no one came back to us. So pushed food not eaten to oneside of plate. At the end of the meal we were told their policy is you eat most of it you pay for it.. what they don't get is.. we had no choice but eat it because no one bothered to come back & no other staff around apart from one other who was serving another table. If there is a next time & we have an issue & no staff around or can't be bothered to speak to the manager.. we'll just get up & walk out shall we!? Not sure what the issue was.. maybe staff & chef couldn't be botheted as it was midweek lunch. Unfortunately, it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary you ruined!!
Great dinner and it a great dinner for a special occasion, the only criticism was that the service was slow and not very attentive at times. They apologies for being busy with a rush of tables, I would eat there again however as the setting and food was very good.
Enjoyed a really enjoyable meal for my partners birthday. Nice finishing touch with a small dessert with candle
Very nice food, great staff and lovely place to have an early dinner. Would definitely recommend.
The food was great and the service was brilliant! Will certainly recommend to anyone who likes quality.
Wonderful experience . Can't wait to go back again. Highly reccomended .
High quality food and service. Waiters were highly knowledgeable and gave excellent advice. Food was sophisticated, beautifully presented and flavours to die for! Great service. Good time intervals between courses and no pressure to leave. Great time had by all.
Had a fabulous birthday lunch here with my husband, the food is always lovely and they try their best to accommodate whatever is asked, ie: non alcoholic cocktail.
Will definately be going back
Pleasant experience - overall
Food = good
Ambiance = good
Service = rather slow at times; waiter spoken English difficult to follow at times (misunderstood etc....)
