Our third visit to The Ivy restaurants out ofLondon, Cam/Bath/Cobham, and all a litle disapointing and downbeat on our recent visit to the Bath Ivy at Christmas. Restaurant was noisy and the service a little slow and lacking in the style and manner you would expect from a restaurant of this price and reputation.

Food was as you would expect from The Ivy and tasty if a little meager. Expensive for 5 of us at £324.

The door receptionist was very undiplomatic to an elderly gentleman who was taking his niece out for lunch. He had booked on the Internet and the receptionist said his name wasn’t on her list so he said do you have a table which she had plenty as I could see during my 2 1/2hrs there. It was totally unnecessary conversation and embarrassing for him. Then when we wanted to collect our coats the receptionist was off showing someone to their table leaving us for 5mins .wrong person as receptionist and system needs smartning up. First impressions count for a lot.
As you go further into the restaurant the back is dark not the place to sit. Food portions small and flavourless, couldn’t even keep the chips hot to the table.

Really good food. It was a very quiet night so we were seated by the front window which was lovely. A really pleasurable experience, all round, with friends new to the more recently added Cambridge restaurants. Thank you

The food was bad. Me and my friend ordered the chicken buorbognon and the chicken had the skin, the texture was not good at all, it was not the chicken breast. It was a chicken piece that was posing as breast. The mash potatoes didn’t have flavour. Really disappointed. I went on Sunday 17/02 for the third time and I’m not going to go anymore. Bad quality of food in a first class restaurant.

Very small portions particularly the vegan curry which was more the size of a starter. The rice was only a few spoonfuls and the the side salad ridiculously meagre

A very tasty vegetarian breakfast enjoyed with family and friends. We were greeted by a warm, friendly and respectful welcome followed by a superb breakfast, real value for money, which is not always easy to find in Cambridge City. I would strongly recommend the Ivy as a meal venue for any time of the day, but I would advise to pre-book table a few days in advance to avoid disappointment.

Good service, it's a shame that we couldn't be seated earlier as we had quite a late reservation and saw a couple of tables spare but this wans't the guys fault. Only thing is, I don't like the 10% gratuity added on. It makes people feel intimated about having to ask this to be removed.

Overall my partner and I had a really nice evening. The food was really good. I was particularly impressed with the Apple Tart Fine, which was prepared from scratch. You're pre-warned that there is a fifteen minute wait as it is made fresh (definitely worth the wait). They then add a nice extra touch as they Flambé the Apple Tart.

There were a couple of service 'hiccups'. For example, my partner was served the wrong starter. There are two very similar starters on the menu and it got mixed up. It happens.

When we arrived, I felt we had to wait too long in order to at least make a drink's order.

I ordered a glass of Red Wine to have with my starter, and I had to wait a long time (and chase up) where my drink was.

The restaurant is quite noisy. It was busy so you expect a bit of 'hustle and bustle', but I think due to the restaurant being narrow and long, noise seemed to travel. If you want a quiet meal, this isn't necessarily the right place.

I scored a 3 for value as it's not crazily expensive, however, I have been to cheaper restaurants and had just as good food.

I was really impressed with a cocktail I had called 'A Gentle Tippple', it's essentially an Old Fashioned (Whiskey and bitters) however it is served inside a smoke filled jar, which the waiter then removes in front of you to reveal your drink, which was pretty cool. It wasn't just a gimmick either, it gave the cocktail (you guessed it) a lovely smokey flavour.

I would recommend, but perhaps it is worth visiting when a bit quieter. I will certainly be going back.

Second visit. Much fuller on a Saturday than Monday for lunch. Nice ambience on both occasions. Good service with only minor errors (mains arrived before starters quite finished and one pudding late). Food and facilities excellent. Well worth a visit.

Our 5th visit to the Cambridge Ivy but most disappointing. The service was not a slick as previous visits.
Requested balsamic vinegar/olive oil to accompany our bread. That never arrived. Ivy Burger arrived without cheese was dry/over cooked & was lacking generally compared to previous experience. Wife’s mushy peas which accompanied fish & chips were lukewarm. Chocolate bomb pouring sauce not hot & bomb didn’t react/melt so had to be replaced. Waitress was very occupied with other diners & due to our time restraints we felt it wasn’t possible to return our main meals & spoil our dining. An expensive evening with a £154.63 bill. Look forward to hearing from you.

We absolutely loved The Ivy, it would have got 5 stars for everything but unfortunately when we went they were all out of lobster so that was quite a disappointment. The aesthetics, atmosphere, cocktails and service are all spot on!

My friend and I enjoyed the evening very much. Two points: We asked for two single glasses of wine but were not asked about the quantity. My friend was driving and realised that she had been given too much wine and so left some. The glasses were the same size. It is important that the waiters ask.

We seemed to be encouraged to have coffee with dessert (which was delicious). I had to stress that we wanted to relax with coffee afterwards. Coffee should be piping hot.

Overall, a very enjoyable evening.

From the moment we stepped foot into the foyer, we were warmly greeted by very friendly staff. As is was Valentines night we were asked if we preferred a ‘lively’ or quiet evening and we chose the very cosy ‘Boat Room’ which had about 6 tables for 2. The waiter was very welcoming and knowledgable about the menu. All the food and drink was fabulous. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant, beautiful food, great service. Some real nice surprises when ordering some of the drinks. Wobbly table but sorted with a business card ;)
My one and only criticism was the level of noise, it wasn't enough to complain about, but a little quieter would have been perfect.

Overall a solid 9.5/10

Will be returning 😁

Great place for lunch with a friend, interesting choices on the menu, excellent quality food and good service. Exactly what we expected. If I could change one thing it would be to add frittes to the menu as well as thick cut chips - so much nicer with steak tartare or a burger - Are you listening Ivy?!!

There was no one to great us so we walked in only to be told to go back out by the waiter but when he found out we were sitting in his area he said he would of sat us down at once had he know we were in his area . I ordered the signature house champagne cocktail that had been changed from the opening night and it wasn’t nice so I asked to change it , the same waiter argued very loudly and he made such an ordeal out of this . Then one order of food was cold and two others were very bland .
The very annoying waiter just got to much so I had to complain to the manager who was the only saving grace of the evening but the night was already spoilt for me and my guest we will not be going back !
