was very disappointed that 3 of the main courses I chose were not available, a total of 6 mains were not available. Hostesses were not as attentive there was a fully working cloak room which was not used and coat were not taken, and table spacing was a bit too cosy.
Excellent service and food in a beautifully presented - decor and cleanliness - venue.
good food, good service, good location, good décor, relaxed style, friendly staff - you can be as formal or relaxed as you want. VERY enjoyable.
I took 2 people here for Sunday lunch and we all enjoyed it. The service was great. apart from a mix up with the menus at the beginning. I thought the ambiance was perfect for a Sunday lunch. It was my first visit but I am sure it will not be my last.
Excellent service and food.
Gorgeous restaurant - we went to the bar first - service was great.
The actual menu is a little hard to follow - we were there for dinner but the menu has everything from breakfast to sandwiches to dinner with a layout that is a bit challenging!
We had an amazing time; service was just right - not at all rushed but attentive.
The chocolate bomb dessert was amazing!
The only thing that made me knock a star off was the drinks service during dinner - twice we had to ask where our drinks were.
Apart from that thoroughly recommend - hope to go back!
The food was good, but when I dine out I like to enjoy conversation, which was nearly impossible owing to the all pervading blast of the sort of music I in any case dislike - though even Beethoven would have been offensive at half the level! So I shall certainly not dine there again (and most of the people I know would sympathise).
A party of 6 . Service food ambiance all excellent.
Wonderful as always!! Introduced two friends and they loved it too!!
Excellent meal and wonderful service made for a perfect dining experience. So good, in fact, we booked our next meal here before our main course had finished! :-)
Food and service excellent and would certainly return but table was quite cramped.
Food was fabulous. Waitress very friendly and helpful.
Our third visit to Ivy Cambridge and found as excellent as always.very good service and very good menu.Very enjoyable evening.
Nice place to eat -decor is lovely. Only one fault-my husband ordered steak, it didn’t say on the menu that it was going to be brushed with garlic butter. When it arrived my husband who doesn’t like garlic butter asked the waitress if it said on the menu that it was served with garlic butter-the waitress looked and said no it didn’t state this on the menu so my husband asked for a new steak. She wasn’t very happy about this but took the steak away and said he would have to wait for another one which he said was fine. The next steak arrived in about 10 mins which was great and he really enjoyed his meal. I guess menus should state this in case he had an allergy-this was a preference of course. Other wise the meal was good.
This was our third visit to the Ivy Cambridge and intend to go again soon, I had the Shepherds pie which was very tasty, followed by the Rum Baba - superb. Service as always is excellent and the general vibe of the place just adds to the whole experience.
Delightful tasty lunch again didn’t disappoint. Third time of visiting and meals are always beautifully prepared, staff were friendly but service was a little slower this time. Still a beautiful mean in stunning surroundings
Food was sensational but while service was very good it was not at the standard I expected. Little things like messy settings, especially tableclothes, and unironed clothes. Music could have been more classy too. Cocktail was just sugar. So great but not what I expected of the name.
I've been there twice for a romantic evening meal and not been disappointed.
The service is very attentive and a bit classy.
Really nice atmosphere and decor, very colourful with modern (somewhat Art Deco) paintings all over the walls.
The menu is varied (modern european). Not necessarily super creative, the food is well prepared with quality ingredients and some style (the Calvados flambeed on the apple tart at your table). I recommend the Chicken Bourguignon.
A bit on the pricy side but not overly. Great value for a special occasion.
This was the first time we had tried the Cambridge Ivy. I have eaten in the original Ivy and hoped it would be as good. It was! We had a lovely lunch with family to celebrate 2 special anniversaries. Memorable experience.
We had another delicious and happy lunch at the Ivy this week. The atmosphere was buzzy, the waiters were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. We love this new addition to Cambridge and will continue to support it with relish!
Usually love the Ivy but found the waitress too pushy in trying to sell extras.
Not good enough. To be clear, the restaurant reduced our bill by around 25% as a result of the issues here. As we said to them at the time, we would rather have the meal and service we expect than a reduced bill for a poor experience.
We told them one of us was GF when we booked - they ignored this until we asked and they have no GF marked menu, you just have to say what you want and they say if they can do it. Rubbish!
I ordered a glass of white wine with my starter - it arrived with my main meal (steak) which was overdone - I ordered medium, we got well done. This is simple stuff, and it's not good enough!
Other food was good, but it ruined date night.
Delicious food, great service and atmosphere. Would recommend!
The staff seem uninformed about cocktails other than those on the list, and one had never heard of Campari. We were given a 12.15 booking for lunch as apparently nothing else was availabe until 1.30pm but at no point during our visit was the restaurant more than half full.
The food wad good brasserie fare and I have already recommended the restaurant to friends.
My wife and I chose to try out The Ivy for the 16th anniversary of our first date.
Initially, we were seated at a table in proximity to a larger group whose conversation was louder than we were comfortable with : they were not excessively noisy, but it prevented us engaging in a quiet tete a tete. We asked to be moved and were readily offered a table whivh suited us perfectly. We then had a splendid meal, drink and evening. Our waiter,Jorge, was quietly attentive. All in all, wonderful. We will recommend and return. Thank you.
It was ok for how much the food was I just expected more
Lovely afternoon tea in very comfortable surroundings, nice selection of sweet and savoury treats and lots of tea
Sunday was our second visit , having been a couple of weeks before and had a great lunch.
Again , we were greeted by freindly staff and shown to our table without delay.
There were three of us , my wife, myself and our teenage grandson.
My grandson opted for a rib eye steak which he ordered to be cooked as medium and it came up rare.
He tried to eat it , but it was hardly cooked.
The waiter took it away and came back with it well done rather than medium and then it was way too chewy and by the time he had actually got it back , my wife and I had finished and then had to sit and wait for him to eat his lunch.
In fairness , it was deducted from the bill , but as it wasnt that busy , I was supprised that the chef got it wrong twice.
Other than that , all staff are very professional and polite and the restruant is a pleasure to dine in.
We will definately keep going there.
I booked in advance for afternoon tea for my mum’s 70th, for 3 of us. Asked for a nice table in the middle of the restaurant. When we arrived we were given a table right by the door on restaurant entrance. I asked to be moved which was accommodated but we had to repeatedly ask for cutlery which was missing and the food was pretty mediocre for somewhere so nice. I wish we’d gone to Patisserie Valerie which is much better value and has better service. Won’t be going to The Ivy again or recommended it.
The waitress got the wrong main order and didn’t pay adequate attention to us. The front of the house, bar and senior members of staff were very professional.
Worth every single penny, love the ambience, service second to none, friendly approachable, knowledgeable staff, outstanding!
I went to the Ivy with a friend for dinner. Overall we had a great time - the food was very good and service started out as exceptional. A couple of comments on the food: I asked for very rare tuna steak - it wasn’t! It was over cooked. I didn’t send it back as that would mean eating after my friend had finished. The cheese board was served straight from the fridge which meant it was a bit disappointing and when we flagged it to the waiter he didn’t seem to understand and didn’t offer to get another one. The service became slightly less attentive towards the end and when we went back to the bar for a drink after dinner the barman seemed more focused on cleaning the bottles than serving. The atmosphere is great and overall food was very tasty and generous but at the price I don’t think they should get these details wrong.
A special early evening meal with my husband. We were sat at the bar when we arrived as we were early. The bar staff were extremely attentive. Thank you bar staff.
Lovely ambience and decor. Even in a large busy restaurant we found the service to be very good. Leaving enough time between courses not to be rushed but still attentive. All three courses were excellent and there is plenty of choice on the menu. Have already booked to take our daughter for her birthday in December. Just one slight point, never like the fact that service is automatically added to the bill but this is usual these days. Just hope it actually goes to the restaurant staff who were working extremely hard to make sure you have a positive experience.
First visit and really impressed. Must rank in top few places to eat in Cambridge. Only other better places are Michelin stars, but they are so expensive. Will definitely visit again soon.
Went for a 50th birthday ladies lunch. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive in a professional manner. Great choice of food especially the dessert menu which we all enjoyed. Overall experience was very good. Decor and furnishings are really different. Great atmosphere for a late lunch at 230 the whole place was buzzing.
Beautiful food! Beautiful decor and service second to none. Highly recommend!
From start to finish the service was absolutely fantastic. The lovely warm welcome we received on our arrival to the very attentive staff who looked after us at our table which all added to a great lunch that enjoyed with my visiting daughter. Great 5 star service
My first experience of the Ivy was 10 out of 10. The food and service was excellent. I will definitely be going back. Highly recommended.
Excellent breakfast, lovely building and atmosphere
