Chose the venue for my wife's birthday and she loved it. Varied choice for her as she is vegetarian. Lovely fresh food, good portions. She will definitely try afternoon tea and cocktails and we will be coming back in the evenings to dine
A wonderful Sunday lunch meal with friends. The service was excellent and it was noticeable as soon as you walked into the restaurant. The food was delicious and the attention to detail was superb. A wonderful atmosphere.
Lovely experience overall, waiter was very attentive and made us feel very welcome.
Beautiful place, although I was a little bit cold as were sat near the main doors. Other than that brunch was lovely, coffee there is great!
Our visit was for a family brunch and get together. Two of us are grain free. The staff were great. The food was great. We are already regulars and will continue to eat here.
Atrocious service, so bad as to compromise the Ivy brand in general. Nobody on front desk when we arrived, then we were asked to wait at the bar because "we are running a bit behind". We declined to do that. Our side dish did not arrive with our meals but came almost 10 mins later. Waiting staff ineffectual. Neighbouring tables to us were not cleared once diners had departed. Hence we ate our meal in surroundings resembling Brighton beach the morning after a music festival. When we complained a waiter said the restaurant was new and getting there "bit by bit".
Not good enough by a very long chalk. Luckily this was not a special occasion but it certainly was the biggest culinary disappointment I have had in many a long year. Don't go there!
We went for a special dinner to celebrate my new job and chose the Ivy after eating at a couple in London.
While the food was good the service was disjointed and staff kept apologising for mix up in communications.
As you are charged a premium for eating at the Ivy we won't be going again or recommend it to others.
We all had a great evening. Food was fabulous and luckily we were given an oval table for 5 people so was really nice. The only downside was it was very noisy, didn’t need music playing on top of everyone speaking.
I found the hustle bustle of the Ivy Brasserie to be great fun, but service was slow. We were seated in the bar for a good 10/15 minutes before being able to flag someone down to take our order. Although the serving staff were friendly they were not very knowledgeable about what they were serving. ie: two mojito’s were ordered one strawberry and one raspberry. When we asked which was which we were told by the young lady that they were the same, when they clearly were not. And our starter plates were not collected so when our steaks came out had to be taken back to the kitchen. They were both ordered medium rare, but were more like medium/well as they had been kept warm. We didn’t send it back because of the length of time it had taken to arrive in the first place!! It was our first visit which was disappointing but we would be prepared to try again as the friends we dined with had not experienced it like that before. Everyone has bad days I hope that this was just one of those cases.
Catch up with a friend. Cocktails at the bar first. Nice seating area. We were looked after by the waiters extremely well. Nice buzzy atmosphere. My second visit, will definitely be back x❤️
Style over substance really. Trying too hard to be something that they are not. Corporate uniforms for hostesses frankly pompous, along with their attitude. Waiting staff very good, attentive without being intrusive and knowledgeable.
Iced tea was 95% ice, thus incredibly poor value.
Food was good, poor service. Serving staff didn't seem to understand our requirements
Friendly attentive staff, great food managed gluten free member of party very well.
I had heard about the IVY from friends so decided to give it a go and was very pleased that I did, the food, the service, the ambience were all very good and although the wine was a little more expensive than other restaurants it was indeed a very nice bottle.
I will be back!!
Great table, lovely food, excellent service. perfect afternoon. Thank you.
We came along for a girls afternoon out. An excuse to dress up and be pampered and we were not disappointed. We were immediately looked after as we walked in, and shown to the bar while we waited for our table. The staff who served our table were friendly and attentive and seemed to have good knowledge of the wine list. The food was amazing, both in taste and the way it was presented. We would definitely go back, and would recommend to friends. Well worth the trip from Ipswich.
Lovely decor, great menu but the night we were there was ruined by a very loud table of eight men who were so loud the waiter apologies that he could not hear orders - the smartphone said that the noise reached 92 decibels! Don’t put that you off. Try it. Staff pleasant but service slow at first. Food good and varied.
Loved my experience so much we returned the next afternoon for casual drinks at the gorgeous bar. not pompous in the slightest just friendly well mannered staff.
will be returning !
Very happy with our afternoon tea but I did ask for a candle in a tart but nothing arrived
It was a special birthday and I was disappointed
Second time eating here for a special birthday and unfortunately let down by poor service this time - unfriendly, uninterested. Such a shame as it’s a lovely setting and the menu is great.
Loved everything about this restaurant, from the decor, ambience, menu, food and service. The service was particularly spot-on, attentive but not in your face. My friend and I were there for many hours and never felt hurried or under pressure to ask for our bill. Look forward to returning.
Had a great meal, service was fabulous! Would go again.
Ideal venue for entertaining friends and also for those very important business lunches.
On the day we visited the bistro was quite busy. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the food was fabulous. The set lunch menu is really good value. If selecting from the main menu it is very easy to spend a significant amount !!! Really lovely for a special occasion.
Lovely decor and ambience. Good brasserie style food.
We had breakfast which was superb in every way - probably the best poached eggs I've ever had!
Lovely atmosphere as it’s all new and taste fully furnished.
Overall it was a great time, the food was lovely! and the staff super friendly and helpful. However when wanting to leave all the staff seemed to have disappeared so we had to wait for 20 minutes wanting the bill.
Lovely meal with my father whom I seldom get to spend time with. Lovely waiter despite his poor English and my father’s poor hearing!
Food delicious and plentisome,
House wine perfectly acceptable.
Excellent food and service. We came for an evening meal and would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was great, once it finally arrived! The wait of an hour for it wasn’t so great and to be told we had to wait for the table of 5 next to us to be ready to order before we could (only 2 of us) was quite poor!
We arrived 20 minutes early and were shown to the bar, we ordered 2 cocktails, one of which was overflown and spilt everywhere the other of which was average. Once our table was ready the waitress didn’t take out drinks on a tray to bring them to the table. Waited over 40 mins for starters; which were bread and prawn cocktail. Then another 1 hour and 10 minutes for the mains which were average too. Needless to say we didn’t have sweets. Nor did we pay the service charge. Because there wasn’t any service!!! Awful... very disappointing I’ve been to The Ivy in Chelsea which was markedly better. Such a pity.
excellent service the young lady was very friendly, the restaurant is tastefully decorated with vibrant colours .Lunch most enjoyable and wine superb thankyou Ivy we will be back.
I found the IVY nice place for lunch, service was very good. food excellent.
service charge was added.
Hot weather there were a few flies around.
Excellent, quality bistro food..loved the inclusion of signature deserts from the original ivy resturants menue. Frozen berries and white chocolate sauce as good as ever. A super addition to the Cambridge restaurant scene.
Great meal and great service. Would recommend and will be going again.
Visited for a special evening with family. Food outstanding as usual. Wine choices excellent. Service is usually first class but on this occasion was average.
As with all the other Ivies in the chain, this one is very good. The staff are well-trained and friendly. Actually our server was amazing! We enjoyed the quality of the meal. I suppose it will take the front desk a while to realise that they are defenders of the front door but that always comes with experience. There are various levels of noise but because the restaurant is large enough, you should be able to move around to find something at suits. Good place to eat. I recommend it!!
Loved the fine dining experience, everything ran like clockwork from booking the table being shown to our table, the waitress was very informative and the food was to die for
I’ve been to the Ivy Cafe in Marylebone and thought it was ok but crowded and the same in ST John’s Wood. The Cambridge version was quite busy but felt less crowded and crammed together. Food was ok, service was ok. I’d go again but wouldn’t feel that it’s the only place to go in Cambridge.....
Took my daughter for a lunch time treat - had a great meal in a beautiful restaurant thank you .
