The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie
Wonderful evening spent at the Ivy. Will definitely return at some time in the future
Could be really great but unfortunately little details spoiled our experience. The food was really not hot enough and the wait for a side order was unacceptable - daughter finished main course as side arrived. The bill was then incorrect as we were charged for something we didn’t have - it was corrected.
Quite an indifferent experience. Lack of attention to detail and observation of delivery. Soup was cool with no bread, Braised beef was so dry and they forget the 'jus' (gravy). Simple problems.
Excellent service generally as always at any Ivy Brasserie, just took a while to get the final bill but exceptionally busy so completely understand to delay
The food was superb with fantastic service. Would love to come back to try out the other starters and mains.
Wonderful long lunch with girlfriends, very well looked after by David (from Cadiz) and dud not feel rushed in any way
As on every occasion (of many) that I’ve been to The Ivy, Cambridge, the food was excellent.
The restaurant ‘front of house’ staff were polite, friendly and attentive.
However, as so often, the service was VERY slow - particularly between courses.
And, as so often, the person serving at our table apologised for the delays.
I imagine it’s hard to recruit and retain kitchen staff in an affluent and popular tourist destination such as Cambridge, with its all its many restaurants. But, with so many ‘front of house’ staff, I wonder if the restaurant needs to reduce the number of these and improve what’s going on ‘behind the scenes’.
One main choice was fab, the other was tasteless. Definitely a mixed experience.
The meal started well but once we have eaten the main meal the service was really slow for order the next course and then requesting the bill
The ambient temperature in the restaurant was very cool - I had to wear a scarf. £6.50 is far too expensive for a small bottle of beer and the glass was far too cold which resulted in half a glass of beer head. When we checked the bill the following morning we realised that we had been charged for a set menu although our guest only chose his starter from that menu reverting to a la carte for his main course. We telephoned and were offered a £10 refund - nothing by way of compensation for our trouble or by way of good will. This was not our first visit to The Ivy but it will be our last.
Lovely food. Great service and nice atmosphere. Expensive though!
Lovely food, lovely staff, lovely lunch. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
Showed up early and was seated right away. Food was very tasty however they served the wrong food to the wrong person. Also messed up one of the orders. Desert was delicious. Price was a bit more expensive than the quality. Temperature was uncomfortably warm inside the restaurant.
Booked 6.30 pm for Sunday special occasion, an evening to remember for all the wrong reasons. Take mobile phone or pocket torch as ambiance lighting is very dim, extra light required to read menu or see plated dishes, company policy reduced illumination, disappointing experience.
Some veg options unavailable / off menu as ran out.
Would I book again, probably! But not for a while as other restaurants offering better options for similarly prices in Cambridge.
Had to wait awhile for drinks but otherwise very nice.
They were very accommodating for our party of 7, even when two of the party were 45 minutes late. I love this restaurant.
Beautiful looking restaurant but the food did not match Which was shame
Excellent food and service as usual. Would (and have) recommended to friends.
Lovely brunch, lovely place for a treat!
Food was quickly received after ordering
We really like the Ivy. It’s the first time we have had brunch there. The only thing I would say is the cooked breakfast isn’t as great as I would expect for £14.
We love the ivy and have been many times. However this time the service was absolutely appalling. We waited for over an hour for our starters. Then again for mains. The bill and paying took a very long time too! We were very disappointed ,as this is one of our favourite restaurants, and had recommended it to our friends to join us!!
We were warned that we would only have the table for two hours multiple times throughout the night and were asked to leave the table before our desserts before the two hours had passed. This restaurant is only interested in profit.
Despite being 25 mins early for our table, indeed the table was 25 late than the booked time. Due to their delay we couldn’t even have a drink or dessert at the table without getting moved back to the bar again. The staff was not apologetic to the fact we waited an extra 25 mins for our table.
I would recommend ivy Brasserie but I am not certain I would recommenced the Cambridge branch.
Brilliant food and service, will definitely return
The only downside is we were being rushed to leave as the table had been booked for somebody else. This is understandable as it was a Friday but also off putting.
The venue and ambience was perfect and the service provided by all staff was excellent. Unfortunately the quality of the food wasn’t up to its usual standard and overpriced for the quality.
Wonderful few hours catching up with friends in sumptuous surroundings away from the hurly burly of Cambridge. Look forward to next visit in January.
Fabulous dinner. Great food but service was fabulous too !!!
Good starters and main. Desserts ok. Toilets are a bit far. Lively atmosphere and good location.
Very good food but not enough of it. Especially the cottage pie.
Fabulous lunch for my birthday, wonderful service and great ambiance. I had the Kerulan duck curry which was so delicious. Will definitely be going back
Great place for a slightly upmarket lunch. Good food, great service. Recommended for casual meal.
Everything was great.
It was a bit difficult to read the menu in the evening.
Not worth it. Overpriced with bad service. Such a shame not great for a birthday present.
Great location. booked for late 2pm lunch. Parking relatively close by - short walk. Love the cloakroom attention on arrival, so your clobber is taken care of. Asked for a non-banquette table - got it. Food good - main courses could have been warmer - suspect they were left on the pass a little too long - but tasty and well presented.
Service - post main course, we felt a little neglected - plenty of staff, plenty of empty tables, so not busy, but restaurant team too busy talking in groups at their stations and perhaps preparing for the evening service - either way, dessert, coffee and the bill took far longer and my lunch companion missed her train as a consequence. Value - it is The Ivy - £225.00 for 3 course lunch for 2 with glass of champagne, glass of wine each and large bottle of sparkling water. 12.5% service charge automatically added to bill.
A lovely dinner with my teenage son on a cold night. The atmosphere was warm and we both found plenty to enjoy on the menu.
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely lunch here. It was our first time and we will definitely be returning and recommending it to other friends and family. The food was amazing and we very much enjoyed our surroundings.
Very comfortable , buzzy atmosphere Very pleasant / enjoyable
Gift from employer, truly enjoyed the food, service was first class, will be back
Fantastic setting and the tables are well spaced out, took time some times to get a waiter, the starter was very nice, the Italian chicken breast with an egg on was slightly bland, the dessert was very nice but lacked in meringue, okay value pretty much the same as most good restaurants, a good varied menu, so over all I would change my selection and I am sure it will be fives all the way.
