The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie
Really disappointed with this visit. The service was so slow and I had to ask for our plates to be cleared away but the waitress couldn’t actually do it herself and had to tell someone else who then did it. The food was luke warm when it arrived and underwhelming. The menu needs to be changed more frequently as it isn’t inspiring and it feels like the same dishes have been on the menu for a long time. The wine choice is disappointing and so overpriced and our waiter didn’t have a great knowledge on the wines.
The epitome of style over substance. Actually really disappointed with the value. Average wine for £40 a bottle. Tiny shepherds pie (nice) with no accompaniments (and not offered any) for £13.50...6 olives £3.50....i could go on. Very nicely fitted out though and everything delivered in a nice bowl!! Not for me thanks....
I absolutely love it in The Ivy! Food was as good as always. However the service for the second visit now was extremely poor... we couldn’t get the attention of any staff to keep taking drinks orders and when we finally did it took so long for them to arrive, that happened 4 times in one evening.
It won’t put me off going ( yet) as I really enjoy the atmosphere but I feel it would be such a shame if this continues to decline after the service being impeccable since the beginning.
Lovely meal to celebrate my birthday. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was very good too.
Wonderful first visit for weekday lunch. I really liked the menu and when my chicken salad came it tasted great. The rum baba was also excellent and my friend and I were well, yet discreetly, looked after by our server. Can't wait to go again.
A beautiful restaurant and amazing food! Lovely staff who made my birthday extra special by bringing me over a cake with a candle and happy birthday message. Would definitely come back and will be recommending to others!
The food was fantastic. Service very good. Lack of dress code spoiled things about as a group of tourists in hoodies turned up
Amazing food! Lovely atmosphere! Would recommend.
Shall be returning in the near future.
The celebratory meal met expectations with lovely food and a nice environment, service was attentive but not intrusive.
Excellent food in buzzy atmosphere. Very good service - appreciated that we were moved to new table away from noisy hen party!
This was the perfect restaurant to celebrate our twin daughter’s 18th birthday. All the staff were extremely attentive and welcoming as soon as we walked in and created a wonderful ambience.
Every dish was full of flavour and perfectly prepared. Thank you for making the evening such a special occasion.
Really enjoyed our first visit to The Ivy. We sat at the bar for cocktails then had a wonderful meal in a romantic corner of the restaurant. Service was very good although not excellent, didn’t pour the wine timely and couldn’t speak English very well. Food and place both great.
Greeted very pleasantly at the door where our coats were taken shown to our table. The staff were pleasant and very efficient could not fault the food wine was kept in an ice bucket near us and poured by the waitress when needed. Will be going back!
Lovely food, brilliant service. Would def recommend 👍👍👍
An excellent lunch with superb service from our Argentinian waitress
The service was slow after other tables had ordered after us and served first. We were there for brunch and had to ask for the toast as they had forgotten to serve it. The food was good and so was the ambience just the service.
Great to have a place like this in Cambridge. Fantastic service, lovely food!
A lovely evening with friends. Food and drink good quality. Only complaint is we were rather rushed from bar to table when we had arrived an hour before our booking in order to have a drink first.
I could not rate the Ivy more highly. It was our first visit and we went for lunch to celebrate my parents' Golden Wedding anniversary. From the moment we stepped in the door the service was second to none, we had a lovely table by the window, the food was superb and the whole thing was excellent value for money! Overall a faultless dining experience and we will be back very soon!
Starters were OK. We ordered the two main course specials which turned out to be grilled lamb and grilled tuna. Not very demanding cooking so we felt they were overpriced for the limited amount of culinary effort. The salsa with the tuna was under-spiced.
We will choose more carefully next time.
Unfortunately it was our first visit and I wouldn’t go back again unless the service improved. Our mains where brought when we were finishing our starters when we asked to take them back they didn’t really want to. When our mains where eventually sent out they were two and then another two and lastly my daughters burger which they’d forgotten the chips. We had to ask for more drinks. We were they to celebrate my daughters 18th so we were not very impressed.
We were so disappointed that we didn’t get the wine that we asked for. When the bottle came the waiter said that it was what we ordered but he lied to us as it was French. Apparently it was because they changed the menues without telling the waiter! Rubbish! Just not good enough for the Ivy!
Overall rather average. The food was nice but the service was very..... slow......
We enjoyed the afternoon tea at the Ivy. Food was amazing, the service was excellent.
Service and food excellent , couldn’t recommend it enough
Very nice environment, friendly and professional staff. Food was excellent. Would definitely visit again and will recommend to friends.
Great ambience/decor,good service, disappointing food, asparagus came with truffle shavings on the top which absolutely didn’t go with the dish, could have had much better fish and chips in a pub, steak was tough and poor quality, wine okay, the bill was £85 a head which was way overpriced, worth £60 absolute max and I have had better meals at £45 a head. Not impressed, won’t be back.
Very slow service and waitresses who ignore you when you try to catch their eye. Also annoyed that restaurant is running a stealth halal policy without telling diners. No pork on the menu and only halal chicken. They should also stop selling alcohol! Would like to know if restaurant chain is owned by Saudis or Sultan of Brunei. Food is otherwise good and competently executed though hugely overpriced
The menu was extensive and diverse so even though we are quite conservative about our food, we had plenty of choice. We were left to read the drinks menu for quite a while before anybody took our order or brought the menus, indeed service was 'relaxed' throughout. It didn't matter to us on a Sunday lunchtime but might be an issue weekdays for business people.
We both enjoyed our food and really could not fault our dishes.
We will definitely return
great food, Lovely service beautiful setting highly recommended!
My husband and I went for lunch to celebrate my birthday. Food and wine were very good (prawn cocktail; duck liver parfait; hamburger; chicken Milanese), nicely classic without unnecessary twists. My rum baba was however rather disappointing: too much whipped cream smothered the taste, and there was not enough rum (I even wondered if it was the kind of rum essence you use in baking cakes, and not real rum at all). What we like best about the Ivy is that it is a very civilized and comfortable place, with a low level of noise so that one can enjoy conversation. I asked for a leather banquette, and we were given a corner banquette so we could both have one, which was thoughtful. The only other downside is that there is no handhold for negotiating the 3 quite large steps at the entrance. I have pointed this out on TripAdvisor, and it remains a definite minus point for those of use with mobility problems.
Definitely worth a visit for the decor and atmosphere. Food is good, although it may be pricey for some, it is nice for an occasional treat bearing in mind this is central Cambridge. I've only ever been for brunch and yesterday was the first time with hubby. His only issue was that the food could have been hotter.
Lovely food, reasonable priced. Enjoyed expresso martinis as dessert.
Lovely buzzy atmosphere, brilliant service, delicious food and great drinks menu! Bit pricy but well worth it!
Loved it! As a vegan it was great to see many options!!!! May I suggest it would be nice to have the vegan menu combined with ‘main menu’. I had to ask for the separate menu and It’s just nice to be able to join in with all when looking at the menu, without feeling different. Highly recommend going back again !!!! Very happy...
Good choice, nicely presented food. Tables not too close together. Comfortable place to dine.
Service was a little too attentive. There's only so many times you want to be asked if everything is alright.
Really enjoyable brunch, for such a nice venue with great food and amazing coffee I was expected it to be really expensive but very very reasonable
10/10 would come again
It was a great pleasure to have Brunch at the Ivy in Cambridge. We received a very warm, polite and hospitable welcome. Our coats were taken and we were shown our seats. We decided to move seats by the window and this was immediately and gracefully done for us. We had papers to read while we waited for the food and the service from the waiters was of a very high standard and any request was acted upon with speed and friendliness. The quality of the food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The surroundings were very special and the ambiance in the Ivy was very special. It was a unique and very happy outing and we throughly enjoyed ourselves.
