The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie
I thought the restaurant was great and we had a lovely time. It was tempered however when we realised there had been a 300% mark up on the bottle of wine
The food, ambiance and surroundings were absolutely lovely but there was one complaint that I will make, I and my friend ordered 2 glasses of Prosecco, thinking that we would get the drinks before our food arrived, we still hadn’t received them whilst our food arrived or even half way through the meal.
This was recitified on my third time of questioning where the drinks were.
A great way to celebrate my friend birthday. Very good food
Beautiful food ,fabulous service ,the ivy has the most wonderful atmosphere!
Great food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. Attention to detail second to none. One of my fave Ivy Brasseries and will definitely be back x
It was a very nice experience. vegan food was excellent. The staff were lovely, friendly and professional. Will be returning !!!
Perfect for our wedding anniversary lunch.
The food, service and ambience were great.
We really enjoyed our lunch at the Ivy. Interesting menu and everything we had was delicious. The interior is so comfortable, stylish and colourful.
We always find The Ivy Brasserie dependable good food, not ridiculous prices and good service. Only criticism is that it is often very noisy so it would be good if there was a “quiet” area one could book a table in when one is only two or three people dining. When seated next to a large party it does spoil the evening. It must be possible to separate the small tables for two away from the large parties.
An enjoyable birthday dinner. Food was of great quality but a little on the expensive side. Beautiful interior and ambience. Staff were friendly and service was good.
Thank you for a wonderful evening in your Ivy Cambridge Brasserie, ALL the staff were excellent polite attentive, courteous, helpful and professional. I love your Brasserie, I also visit the Ivy in Norwich, I just love the Cambridge one, just seems more spacious.
Norwich is also excellent for good food, friendly staff, and lovely surroundings.
Really lovely place, we will definitely be going again
Very friendly and generally the service was good. Only one criticism was that I did not receive any butter or jam for my toast after a specific conversation about it. Even so, the food was very good. It was my partners birthday and the staff made a big effort by bringing him a cake with a candle. I had y asked for this so it was a very nice surprise
Fantastic meal, very attentive serving staff. Great wine list and lovely bar to wait at.
Very busy - pre booking is a must.
Very nice all round night great staff
Great, friendly buzz. Super service. Best date night we've had in Cambridge for a long time.
We had lunch there for my sons wedding and was so impressed took my brother and wife for their special birthday and it was again superb. To serve a full restaurant with such high quality food is commendable
Great meal overall. Always have good food here.
Main courses a bit slow but it was very busy Saturday night and they acknowledged and gave us free dessert.
Great ambience, food excellent and service was friendly and efficient
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and enjoyed a lovely meal and pudding
Our waitress was very efficient
Aircondition was too cold ! You need a scarf or a blanket!
Do need to book well in advance as we had to settle for a 5.15 booking, rather than a preferred 7 o’clock booking. Love the setting & there is always a great atmosphere. The squid & prawn starter is good & the chocolate bomb desert was amazing. We did take the kids aged 11 13 & 15 who all ordered burgers for mains although not too adventurous they did all enjoyed them. Our waiter was very knowledgeable & extremely attentive. Worked out around £40 a head & we weren’t rushed in any way, so it was well worth the treat, & a good night out was enjoyed by all.
I had to go and find staff to ask for coffee after being shown to my table. Considering it was breakfast and I appeared to be the first customer this could have been a little more efficient. Still a favourite place.
It was a pleasure to spend the evening in this restaurant. Thank you very much
Go to the Trinity next door the staff & food are so much better! While visiting Cambridge to celebrate my husbands birthday I booked the Ivy Brasserie for 7.45pm on Friday 10th May & arrived a few minutes early which was no problem at all according to the staff on reception, the lady serving us was very polite & attentive. However, after having 2 courses & a couple of drinks, we reviewed the desert menu & decided to order coffee as nothing took our fancy & we felt comfortably full from our enjoyable 2 courses, at 8.45pm a member of the waiting team called Rez or Raz (apologies when I asked his name he wasn’t very clear) asked us what we would like for desert, we advised him that we just wanted coffee, he then proceeded to ask would we like to sit at the bar, we said no we are happy at our table, he then told us there is a 1 hr 30 mins max table occupancy at peak times so he needed to move us on, we had only been there 1hr! The t’s & c’s on open table who made the booking through via The Ivy website said the max table time was 2hrs for up to 4 people.
This brought an abrupt & unhappy end to otherwise enjoyable meal. I complained to the manager via email, he did give a quick reply but his offer to book directly with him next time is no use as we were only visiting Cambridge for the weekend as we do no live locally!
Good welcome, great attention from our waiter Yannis, lovely food, no time pressures, can’t be faulted, very highly recommended, brilliant for a celebration meal
Excellent menu and delicious food. The Chocolate Bombe was to die for, if a little pricey at £8+. The only fault I could find with the whole experience was a very noisy party at the bar enjoying their champagne. To be fair when I drew attention to the fact that my companion and I couldn't hold a conversation, a member of staff did endeavour in a very pleasant manner to curb their thoughtless behaviour.
I’ve been here a few times. As in the past, the food was delicious, and the ambiance is very good.
I haven’t had the set lunch menu before but it was rather good. Though I do think the wines are a little pricey. And, including the alcohol on the bill total to calculate the service charge seems rather off as the restaurant has already made a sizeable mark up on wine, etc.
(And, I recall a few years back the FT suggested taking off the cost of the drinks before calculating any additional tips.)
The one thing that wasn’t good on this occasion was the service. On previous occasions it’s been excellent. This time it was very slow (even though the restaurant was not that busy) and the staff on our section were far from attentive. Clearly, training seems in order for SOME of the staff.
The bill was also massively out (in our favour!) but when I drew this to the attention of the person waiting on our table it was dealt with initially as if the fault lay with me - the customer! Another member of staff
efficiently rectified the error, and took off the service charge when we commented on the UNUSUALLY poor service.
All that said, I’ve been dining out quite often the last month in Cambridge’s best restaurants, and I’ve most enjoyed The Ivy.
Food was very good, the set menu was very reasonable & was not disappointing. The service was friendly & efficient. There were six of us in the party and everyone enjoyed what they had ordered.
I love this place! Everything has been so well thought-through: from the enclosed cloakroom & reception area, the decoration and the acoustics – and these are all before you even look at the menu. We were a party of five people who prefer a mostly vegetarian diet. In the first instance, the vegetarian options on the menu seemed limited, but when we questioned this, our waiter immediately brought us the vegetarian/ vegan menu. The fact that the alternative menus should have been offered from the outset is my only minor negative comment about the service on this occasion. We were well looked after in every other respect and all the food was amazing. A real treat.
Everything I want from a restaurant is right at the Ivy. Firstly great food, good service, good ambience.
Lovely food, surroundings and staff. Would recommend.
Great location for a special occasion, gorgeous decor, friendly attentive staff and lovely food, perfect!
We went to The Ivy, Cambridge on 7th May to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. From the moment we stepped in the staff were extremely attentive and friendly. We were immediately shown to our table and from then on the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was exceptional. We didn’t have to wait very long it. The atmosphere was very relaxing and peaceful. We would, and have already, recommended it to friends and relatives. Will definitely be returning.
we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely go again
We had the most amazing evening at The Ivy Cambridge. The decor is stunning with a nod to Art Deco, service excellent and food divine. One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had and would highly recommend. We had three courses with cocktails and was worth every penny.
Nice vibe food was excellent service was exceptional David was very helpful and really did look after us.
Vibrant atmosphere, quite noisy. Great service. Good food. Would have preferred wine bottle to be
left at table so we could help ourselves when needed. Small delay in sides being brought out once we all had our mains. Cocktail presentation a little lack lustre! On the whole very pleasant dining experience in lovely surroundings, would definitely return.
A wonderful 18th birthday celebration. The service was impeccable, food lovely and the atmosphere perfect. There was nothing to fault here at all.
We took my mum here for her birthday on Sunday and was extremely disappointed with the level of service we received. Not only did the waitress get our order wrong multiple times; bringing over a smoothie when we asked for water, a cappuccino that no one asked for, water for the table when we said we didn’t want any. But she also got the bill wrong charged us and as my parents were leaving she came back over to say she’d done it wrong and needs to charge us some more. Then my parents left as they wanted to do some more shopping whilst I waited for the box for our left over cakes that the waitress promised us twice. A little time went by and I noticed she was serving someone water. Another couple minutes went by then I saw she was serving another table wine, so I asked a different waitress for a box and she said sorry they don’t have any boxes at The Ivy for cakes. Whilst it was very disappointing that there were no boxes to take our beautiful cakes home in which we had paid for and is also the only place I have ever been for afternoon tea where they do not offer you a box to take your cakes home, but at least this waitress told us the correct answer and didn’t leave us waiting. So me and my sister just got up and left in the end walking past our original waitress who didn’t say a word. For such a lovely restaurant I was shocked to say the least at this level of service.
