The Ivy Cardiff
Location not the iconic building that Ivy's are normally located within, quite modern and a bit noisier as a result. Food as always consistent within the Ivy chain. Overall I would say of the chain restaurants still the best, but shortage of experienced staff is definitely impacting on the customer experience.
What a lovely experience from beginning to end. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Most were smiling at all times. The food was outstanding. The onion soup was beautiful. Both our steaks were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend
Birthday lunch for my wife. A wonderful lunch experience- the food we chose off the set meal (mains duck) (sweet yoghurt sorbet/ cheese and crackers) was all extremely tasty and unexpectedly a fresh cream cake with candle was brought for my wife during the meal.
The gentleman who waited on us was top class, extremely friendly and efficient - we can’t speak highly enough of him!
Fabulous setting, amazing food and service was exceptional!
Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the Ivy Cardiff !
Very relaxed atmosphere! Will definitely eat there again and would highly recommend.
Great venue for a special occasion!
I took someone here on a first date yesterday and it was amazing. The place is beautiful, the food was lovely especially the duck salad. The service was fantastic, cannot recommend enough!! Thanks for a lovely time! Worth every penny.
Fantastic food, lovely environment and friendly staff. We went for my wife’s birthday and we throughly enjoyed it.
Excellent food, service and ambience, a lovely experience for a birthday celebration! The decor is beautiful. Will definitely return.
Gorgeous decor and ambience, stunning albeit fairly rich food and surprising generous portions. Would definitely go again.
Perfect for my anniversary date! The food was amazing
Lovely food and service. I would definitely recommend
Visited to celebrate a birthday. Surroundings very nice as pleasantly decorated, staff also very nice. We were sat next to a table of young, loud giggly girls. I have eaten nicer food at half the price at other establishments. Cheese souflee starter was amazing, cannot compare as 1st time eating souffle. Mains Salmon, green beans al-dente (not stated on menu), aubergine puree was tasteless also ras el hanout sauce tasted of basic tomato sauce. Dessert was Stick Toffee Pudding with salted caramel sauce. I find with most salted caramel products, you rarely get a hint of salt or caramel. Sauce was far too sweet with no hint of salt or caramel, just sugar. There was a small dollop of cream, had there been more cream it would have depleted the sweetness. My partner had Truffle Arancini for starter, which was very tasty but very small, served in large glass with cotton napkin, this would have looked more appealing laid on a bed of salad. Mains Chicken Milanese, this had a fried egg on the top, looked like we were in a greasy spoon, however partner stated it was tasty. Dessert was Mini Truffles, which was 5 small tuffles on a plate designed for a dolls house, this could have been served on a side plate with mint leaves and any sauce patterned on the plate to give the appearance of a larger desssert. We had 1 glass of wine and 1 bacardi and coke, total price over £100. I feel you are paying for the notoriety of The Ivy more than the food quality. I can now say I have been there, however, I do not plan a return visit. All in all, chefs mass cooking with no imagination for food presentation.
We booked an open table, it was lovely. The waiters was very friendly and helpful. My partner had a vegetarian meal and I had a meal from the al a cart menu. We both enjoyed all three courses.
This was our first time at the restaurant and we had a great time. We would recommend The Ivy to put friends and colleagues.
Lunch menu had no vegetarian starter so had a side salad. Only a dish of tiny toms cut in half Not what I’d paid for a side. Not given a choice of starters or any help over the starters. Then had the veg curry which is not one of my favourite meals but no other choice all in all. Staff not very helpful. Will not be coming back
Beautiful surroundings, lovely lunch with good friends. Great ambience.
Wide selection of food on offer, something for everyone.
Excellent service, attentive waiting staff. Thank you.
First time back since COVID and it felt very special.
Only one negative comment . The coffees were served before the pudding.! Otherwise it was all very pleasing.
Went for a catch up with friends.
As always a throughly enjoyable experience.
Warm reception and efficient service. Food tasty.
My sister is celiac and not by chose. The selection was poor for celiac no actual special menu. They said the can adopt the meals but the selection was poor. She asked for bread and olives for starters the bread was awful toasted as well. We except something much better. It really let the food side down. The spinach as a side was tasteless. The gravy was cold with the Sheppard’s pie.
The dessert wasn’t the best the fruit was way to frozen and big and the white chocolate sauce wasn’t hot enough. This is a dessert iv had before so I knew what to except.
We asked for hot water and lemon which was £2.50- bit of a shock. They gave us lemon slice from the bar.
The second waitress threw are food on the table it was like she was to scared to come near us. - maybe due to COVID she really wasn’t or helpful in any way.
Very disappointed on the visit to the Ivy Cardiff - this is my fourth time to an Ivy restaurant and the worse by far.
Outstanding service. Lovely setting. Great place for lunch with a friend.
Brilliant service, amazing cocktails and delicious food! 😍
Fabulous meal, staff were lovely, all in all a great evening
Vegan menu online wasn’t available at the restaurant (for a vegan’s birthday this was highly disappointing). Kindly gifted a birthday cake (knowing it’s a vegan birthday) however the cake wasn’t vegan either! How insulting and dangerous! Would you give nuts to a customer with a nut allergy? No vegan options other than a salad, curry and ice cream. Needed nice background music at restaurant too! We’re very disappointed. That being said, service and staff were brilliant. NEED MORE VEGAN OPTIONS! IT’S 2021! For a special birthday meal, I am highly disappointed. Online menu had more options when I booked.
Lovely ambiance, delicious food and wine, fantastic staff
We attended the Ivy as a birthday celebration and it did not disappoint! The food was exceptional, really tasty and certainly worth the money. The service was a little slow at times but it was very busy so that was to be expected.
Would definately recommend!
We were very impressed with the decor. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. We started with cocktails as this was a special occasion. The bae Caerdydd cocktail was especially good. Our starters were very tasty. We had the scallops and the mushrooms. Our main courses were very well presented and excellent. I had the salmon and my husband had sea bass. We declined dessert as we were so full but they presented us with a small birthday cake complete with candle - it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially for a special occasion. There seemed to be a number of people there celebrating.
Lovely evening at the Ivy again. The only slight negative was our starter, although very tasty could've been a little warmer. But all in all excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.
Our server was amazing! Wish we’d asked her name. Food was lovely small portion size for the main, set menu was amazing value and the cocktails were awesome!
My husband ordered a burger and it was tasteless and had grisel in it.
We had a fabulous meal for my boyfriends birthday. Service was amazing and good delicious
Buzzing atmosphere, helpful staff, tasty food, have never had a bad meal here
Will definitely be booking again .
We were made to feel extremely special
We, family and guests always enjoy our visits to THE IVY, thank you.
Amazing decor, amazing service and amazing food which I thought was very reasonably priced. Went for breakfast on a week day and it was quiet. Superb.
Greetings with a warm smile, on entering, asked if it was a special occasion, which it wasn't. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, atmosphere and art deco, was very pleasing to the eyes, felt like I was in a different part of the world, Would definitely recommend The Ivy in Cardiff, service and cleanliness and taste of food was definitely top quality.
Food and service excellent.Restaurant spacious, well setup.
Wine list somewhat expensive.Good menu.Very friendly ,helpful staff.Good location and very clean.
Very nice restaurant with lovely deco. Food and service was good but drinks over priced. As we were celebrating our wedding anniversary we had a complimentary dessert treat by the staff. Nice touch!! Will be returning in the future.
I had the 2 courses lunch menu was excellent value and delicious
Bland, boring and over priced. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the food lets it down
Great tasting food in wonderful surroundings with great service - attentive and friendly
The service was ok. Did the drinks order completely wrong and then charged us at the end for drinks we didn’t have. The beans on the breakfast were stone cold. My auntie was on crutches and had to use the lift but the button had to be pressed at all times which she wouldn’t do, so it’s all well for wheelchair users but no one else.
