The Ivy Cardiff
Nice food good service and fabulous decor. Over
priced for what you get.
In these Covid days the staff at The Ivy were amazing. The food was superb as usual, just missed having my favourite cocktail, hopefully we will have that drink in 2021.
Food was fantastic Service was good
Did think that although smart casual was the order of the day some people looked very scruffy to be in your beautiful restaurant Surprised they were not challenged at the door
My husband and I have only had a cocktail at The Ivy previously, but were very impressed with both the quality of the food and the excellent service we received.
It is a little pricey and is a restaurant we’d only visit for a special occasion.
We will definitely return for a birthday, anniversary etc.
Fabulous meal as always. Can’t wait to return.
Lovely lunch time experience beautiful dining area
Staff very good
We were greeted with a friendly and very professional smile.
Shown to our seating area once all the necessary Covid procedures were taken.
Our server was with immediately offering drink while we browsed the menu. She helped with all the questions we had about the menu.
The food was exceptional as usual.
Beautiful restaurant accompanied by very attentive staff. The food was superb. Even cake and candle for my birthday.
So sad they’ve got to close. We will definitely be back, we absolutely loved it. Such lovely staff, very efficient but very friendly and unobtrusive. Wonderful decor - a lady was taking photos of the loo 😂😂. Can’t wait for things to get back to normal and we will taking the whole family as a treat
First time I’ve been to The Ivy, Cardiff. Lovely food.
Amazing food, service and surroundings, great safety measures in place. Made to feel special.
My husband and I had decided to treat ourselves mums to breakfast as our plans for last years Christmas present had been cancelled so we thought breakfast at the Ivy would be something nice for us all to enjoy.
They haven't been before so was lovely for them to be treated and to experience the lovely surroundings and wonderful food.
Lovley venue, great food and service, not to much ambience I think due to all the restrictions.
Really friendly staff, especially given the current circumstances, adhered to all safety guidelines whilst still providing an amazing service, excellent food and a lovely environment!
Hope you guys can open again soon!
Great food. Great service. Will definitely be visiting again.
Fantastically cooked food, served perfectly. Even the fact that it wasn’t accompanied by a nice bottle of wine and cocktails didn’t take away from the experience.
Will definitely revisit.
Perfect food in a lovely sophisticated setting with 5* service.
Great food once again. Missed the cocktails this time.
In the past couple of years there’s been a move to highly spiced , Asian type food that is not what I’d associate the Ivy with . You’ve removed the veg. Shepherds pie too which is a shame but that aside , as always the ambience and occasion was great
Over priced for what you get. Will not be returning anytime soon.
Brought my granddaughter for a birthday treat she is 6 years old and we felt very special staff were wonderful and very attentive
Lovely breakfast menu, excellent service, very child friendly too.
From the moment we walked it the was fantastic. From the service to food it was 1st class. We will be back as soon as we can.
A lovely morning spent having breakfast. We will definitely be back to do it again.
Excellent breakfast - smoked salmon and eggs were amazing
The food was delicious and the portion sizes were good. Well worth the price. The service was excellent and the restaurant itself was lovely. I look forward to my next visit.
Fabulous food in a safe environment- highly recommend The Ivy Cardiff
Absolutely love The Ivy, such a shame we will not be able to dine there for quite sometime due to the lockdown 🥺
The waitress was rude. I could not hear anything she said as she mumbled through her mask. There was a code on the table and neither myself or my friend had an iphone so we were given a paper menu. The waitress did not introduced herself and was unfriendly. She asked if I wanted water and brought water to the table in a bottle, only to find out that cost £3.95. It was not even chilled. The waitress did not offer a jug of tap water with ice cubes in, which is what I would expect. My friend has the vegetarian option. I had prawn and lobster cocktail, which was nice, but way over priced. The waitress mumbled that our main would be a further 15 minutes, which was fine, only as she was saying it the mains came, which was confusing. I ordered the sword fish , which was not very nice as it was all tiny bones!! Well over priced at £23.95. My friend and I were surprised that there were no vegetables with the main course. We ordered some chips, which came soon after. They were over-cooked and frozen and must have cost £1 a chip. The waitress put the bill on our table, announcing that it was the bill. No time for a desert then. The waitress service was diabolical and when we were splitting the bill we found that almost nine pounds had been added for service charge. We did not pay it and personally believe that my friend and I should have been paid for such an horrendous experience. I had been so excited to get a booking at The Ivy and so looking forward to the lovely menu. How disappointing the whole experience was!!
It was a lovely restaurant, however I felt the value for money was very poor. The steak was £26 just for a sirloin and had to pay extra for sides and sauces.
Lovely venue and beautiful food. Would 100% recommend. Hopefully there will be no alcohol restrictions on our next visit, the cocktails looked awesome.
Table too small for 4 dinners
Mock tails overpriced Tap water requested never arrived
Me and my friend came here for lunch yesterday (17th December) and we weren't disappointed. We both enjoyed the experience from the minute we stepped in to the restaurant, we both really enjoyed the food and the restaurant itself was very beautiful. Also well done to Sophie the lovely waitress who served us very good service we will definitely be back very soon
The shepherds pie could have been made months ago. I was served with tepid chips whist my friend didn't get any chips. Eventually we were both served with chips, thats not good enough. We were asked why we were eating togetherabout the and we explained it was a double birthda. We were brought a small cake topped with a candle, a very nice touch, but the cake was inedible.
Excellent breakfast. Staff were very accommodating and the food was delicious!
My birthday breakfast was delicious. The service was excellent from the greeting to ensure we were COVID safe to the staff taking orders and delivering food and drink. The individual cake was a lovely surprise. We look forward to returning for a dinner in 2021
We had a fantastic time , this was a surprise for my daughter ,
Excellent service throughout we were greeted at the door, all Covid check measures in place, service was excellent, food arrived quite quickly, waitress was really friendly, food was lovely, highly recommend it and will certainly return.
Special experience! We had brunch before Christmas shopping at it really was a perfect start to the day. The waitress was very accommodating and lovely to speak to and the setting is so amazing.
I was excited for our first trip to the Ivy Cardiff and had booked this for date night in advance. We completely understand the covid controls for entry, however this process could have been swifter and after being 'checked in' by a staff member whilst outside we still we made to wait before entering, despite staff being available at the hostess stand. We were taken to a table on the first floor and the venue is decorated beautifully- the visuals did not disappoint. However, the atmosphere and service did not quite compare to these same standards. Our server, not in the slightest friendly, compared to other staff experienced and on a number of times during our meal came across quite rude. The atmosphere, there was none, which I was surprised at and perhaps if we had been seated in the ground floor area this may have been different as this was busier? The food was pretty good quality (my duck aromatic curry was delicious) but my partner had fish and chips and this was not as good with the chips being overcooked. For the prices we didn't deem it value for money. To top it off, after finishing our meal within an hour, a service charge was automatically added to the bill, which as you can imagine we refused to pay. I had high expectations for this venue but won't be in a hurry to return unfortunately.
