The Ivy Castle View
With an all-encompassing menu serving modern British and international Ivy-inspired classics from dawn until dusk, the restaurant is open seven days a week and is also featuring a private dining room, outdoor terrace and a bar, offering tranquil relaxed yet sophisticated dining with beautiful views across Guildford Castle.
The most beautiful table in the sun overlooking the castle. And if course first class Ivy food and service.
It's a great place for lunch or evening meal. Very good staff. Food always vg.
Very nice setting and generally the service and food is good. I'd say the value for money is OK; you expect to pay a premium given the surroundings.
Fantastic service, with great food and views over the castle. Food not the cheapest but fantastic quality . Recommended
Lovely afternoon tea. Fab staff from the moment we arrived were all so lovely. Definitely be back
The waitress did get our order wrong, but handled it really well, got us fresh meals and took some off the bill. Really lovely food and atmosphere, can’t fault it and can’t wait to go again!
Wonderful birthday lunch for my son, the staff accommodated a change in our reservation time, provided lovely suggestions for the meal and even a cute little birthday cupcake at the end..
Food was disappointing. Roast chicken was actually fried chicken and was quite unpleasant. If it was called pan fried chicken then I wouldn’t have ordered it.
Not a good experience, sadly.
A really great breakfast and a perfect spot to spend a Sunday morning. Will certainly be going back soon.
Fantastic food, amazing cocktails, beautiful art-deco style surroundings and faultless service.
Pricey but worth it.
The look and feel of the restaurant is lovely, however some of the diners were a little rude. The staff were not much better, we booked our table for 8.30 only to be taken to it at 9.10. When we finally sat down for dinner the waiter was very slow providing the menus, it took 20 minutes for him to take our order with the starters coming in about 15 minutes (which was good). We ordered wine with our meal, our glasses were filled at the start of receiving the starters but not again until after we finished our main course (the bottle was taken away so we couldn't fill it ourselves), it wasn't our waiter who filled the glasses but someone else and then we are having to drink quickly to finish the bottle before leaving. Asking for the bill was ridiculous, the waiter assigned to us was a joke, hardly ever came to our table (it wasn't that busy) and to make matters worse, we heard him ask the team to ensure 'pretty' people were placed at the table next to us! Therefore I can't say it was just the diners that were rude, the staff were not that much better. There's a preconceived perception at the restaurant that doesn't match the one in London, which is lovely. I would never ever go to this restaurant again!
Another excellent trip to the Ivy in Guildford , superb food, superb table superb service ( staff were all excellent) . Only slight problem was the noise from other diners. Birthday for my friend which was was well received by her !!
A very good evening which we enjoyed. An extra dessert on the occasion of our Wedding |Anniversary was a nice touch. The noise level was horrendous. Several large parties unfortunately.
Great food, buzzing and busy and rather noisy even though still early 6pm on a wet Saturday!! Nevertheless beautiful interior environment and attractive outlook, specials were quite expensive
Lovely food, but too noisy for us. Couldn’t hear the other 3 diners on my table due to very loud noise levels at 5.30 on a Saturday. Might have been better if we had not been put in the middle of the room near the toilets. Dress code is casual, we felt overdressed in smart casual. Actual food is tasty and service was efficient and attentive.
Great food, very good service and great choice of drinks for all tastes.
I've said YES I would recommend it to a friend as some of my opinions are subjective of course, so someones else may not think the same; it's worth a try, but I certainly would not go back there on a Saturday. We were rather disappointed at the menu (only the Brunch menu available to us as the full Lunch menu is offered only Mon-Fri - we went Saturday). The noise level was intolerable and we were just about incapable of holding a conversaton over a very small table for two. There appears to be no soft furnishing to absorb the noise; I don't know what the management's solution to that would be! Maybe it would help if parties of people were not put alongside the smaller tables. The food was about the same as anywhere else but more expensive. The service was impeccable: very attentive, well timed AND they brought my friend a little dessert with a candle as we were there for her 80th birthday - she was delighted with that.
We enjoyed a really lovely brunch. Great venue, food and ambience.
Love it! Smart without being overly so, and something a tad different.
Stylish interior, attentive staff, flavoursome food. We’ll be back
All the staff were very attentive and professional. Dinner was delicious especially the prawn and monkfish curry. A wonderful evening.
Beautiful decor, attentive staff and the food delivered was delicious and well presented. Noise level was a struggle though, for myself and my elderly parents - The price I guess for all the above, it’s always going to be busy! Although some noise reduction on the ceiling would certainly help, but shouldn’t distract anyone else from enjoying this lovely restaurant.
Wonderful time - loved it! We come often because the food and service are always good.
The food and service was first class. I will be returning and recommending to everyone.
We came along for a 21st birthday celebration for our daughter with my parents who are in their 70s. We had a lovely evening but the only downside was that the service was a bit disjointed with lots of staff attending to us but no one person consistently so we didn’t feel there was a good rapport. Also, a glass was smashed near to my Mum and I know accidents happen but a large piece of glass was left on the floor under her chair which could have caused an accident.
Overall though we had a good evening.
Lovely surroundings, beautifully decorated. Staff all very friendly and attentive. Food excellent. Would definitely go back and recommend to others
Absolutely gorgeous food, great service and beautiful location. Thank you!
Staff were very attentive, food absolutely delicious and there was a great atmosphere. Our third time here and they never fail to please. We will return.
Overall a most enjoyable evening. Definitely worth a visit just once. A place for that special occasion.
Our lovely waiter asked us if we wanted 6 chocolate truffles when we ordered our mint and camomile teas post lunch. We both looked puzzled and said no thank you. Does the Ivy charge for these? It would have better if we were just given one each as a nice gesture.
FYI the middle ladies loo has a damaged flush button. Little bit sharp. Plus we did not like the noisy hand dryer. Women were using the toilet tissue to dry their hands. This was giving a messy look to the basins.
Just thought you might like to go back to paper hand towels. Hand dryers can cause water damage to dry clean only silk.
Hope this helps. Will always return but just want perfection x
A really nice branch of the Ivy with better than average food, friendly efficient service and a nice atmosphere.
A lovely lunch experience, great service, lovely decor and vibe. Only disappointment was my husband's minute steak which was chewy - a bit of a shame!
Thoroughly enjoyed. Service excellent, food lovely, ambience also excellent as I was on a first date which also went very well( last to leave !) ... if I get a second, I’ll book again ! . Thankyou. Chris whitley
We’ve hired the Looking Glass room and dined with you a few times. The most recent booking was superb and we were given a lovely table.
Booked at short notice for a treat. Great service and excellent food in a relaxing place. Recommended.
Service is always excellent, food quality consistent and revisit frequently
The starters were good. Both mains were disappointing. The Chicken Milense was unimpressive and greasy. It was like something you would get in a pub not in a top notch restaurant. The Monkfish and Prawn Curry didn't taste good and also only had two small pieces of fish. The apple tart was a disaster! It was drenched in alcohol with a soggy bottom. It wasn't cooked through. There was a small amount of popping candy which was only in the centre. We had this apple tart before at this restaurant so we were really looking forward to it. A very expensive meal to have and feel disappointed. We were even more frustrated that we booked this for a belated anniversary meal as I was in hospital. What a shame! The two mini cakes at the end for our anniversary were a lovely gesture though.
Nice place, like American style diner and Art Deco features. I like the restaurant being cosy and quiet with nice jazz/ soul background music for an easy conversation.
Lovely food and pleasant service.
My husband and I had gone to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had not told the restaurant this when booking. The staff were very attentive and must have heard us raise our glasses and make a toast for the occasion. After our meal they bought out a beautiful individual desert with “ Happy Anniversary “ on a chocolate square. Very nice touch!!!!!
This is the first time I’ve used this app to reserve a table and whilst easy to use it would have been nice if I could have requested a particular table. The castle view tables are really lovely. That’s said we had a booth type table near the bar which was acceptable. The staff, particularly the young lady who bought our drinks were friendly, informative, interested and happy. The food was very good but prices were def more on par with London and not an outlying city. The decor was really attractive with an Art Deco vibe. Food was beautifully presented on an array of attractive dishes
