The Ivy Castle View
With an all-encompassing menu serving modern British and international Ivy-inspired classics from dawn until dusk, the restaurant is open seven days a week and is also featuring a private dining room, outdoor terrace and a bar, offering tranquil relaxed yet sophisticated dining with beautiful views across Guildford Castle.
Highly recommend for great service and ambience
The food was excellent and the staff were very professional, overall a great experience.
A very nice pre theatre evening. Pleasant staff and a good atmosphere not cheap but a nice treat.
The staff were incredible at this venue . Well mannered , polite and the most important thing was that you didn’t feel rushed . I asked for there to be a gal between the mains and starters and the timing was perfect ! Well done
A fantastic after-work dinner at the ivy castle view. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the food was as wonderful as always. The highlight was being sat at a window table with the view of the castle lit up.
Was lovely as always. Guildford is by far my favourite ivy.
A very pleasant lunch on a wet and windy day. We didn't feel rushed and the waiters were very attentive.
Unfortunately my poached egg was hard but it was swiftly replaced and everything else was very nice.
Not the first visit and as previously thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
I had the Parfait and ribeye of beef sandwich which it was to die for.
Excellent service and Produce and overall good price for a high quality experience.
Fantastic breakfast really wonderful place... service was excellent.
Beautiful restaurant, lovely staff and great food! Loved the small jazz music as well which was playing by live band. Really made our evening special - thank you!
Celebrated our anniversary on a Sunday evening. Staff attentive but not overly so, and made us feel very special. Food so good it makes your cheeks tingle. Live vocalist/pianist/saxophonist made it all the more magical.
I have dined here a number of times and always satisfied. I would prefer there to be less noise, but appreciate that the restaurant needs to cater for as many covers as possible. I took a friend along who had not dined at an Ivy restaurant before. She enjoyed her experience and will now become a customer.
Very popular, every table was full and because of this it was quite noisy in there . But service and food was excellent.
We just missed out on the breakfast menu as a couple on a table close by were able to order breakfast. Service was punctual but rather impersonal & pretentious & there appeared to be a customer pecking order. The food tasted good and was well presented but we were a tad disappointed by the time it arrived which always makes for a less enjoyable experience.
The standard of food is consistent across the chain
The food is very good . Staff are very attentive & friendly
As always great food
Best poached eggs ever
Food was delicious and service excellent. Look forward to eating here again soon
Great service from the staff. Good food for the Champagne Afternoon tea, everything was good quality and there was enough quantity, both me and my husband were full by the end.
Very busy place and very noisy, so not a relaxing atmosphere but we enjoyed a lot and I would recommend.
This place used to WOW me but was disappointed this visit. Service not great and food not up to usual high standard didn’t complain as it’s my opinion. Maybe if we visit again it will be different but will leave it for a while
Always a good experience but please turn the heating up, it was freezing in the Guildford restaurant on Saturday lunchtime
Good value food, well presented with knowledgeable staff. Consistently good.
Lovely lunch on a saturday, does get very busy. A friend and i were celebrating a shared birthday and they brought a little cake with candle out too which was a nice treat. We had to ask for a knife after waiting for some time so we could share it. Good service otherwise and tasty food.
Another wonderful meal at an Ivy restaurant. Thank you to the whole team and I wish all the restaurants made the breakfast hash brown/potato cakes like the guildford IVY. They are delicious! Very attentive staff as always. Thank you!
Great food and atmosphere. The restaurant was busy so the service was not as good as it could have been., however, didn’t spoil the evening.
At the time of booking requested that perhaps we could have a table overlooking the castle , on arrival shown downstairs to what I found to be their over flow part of the restaurant where we could gaze at the castle from dungeon level.
As this had the ambience and charm of a school canteen requested that we be moved upstairs to the adult section which was arranged by a charming young lady.
Unfortunately due to the proximity of others diners it was almost impossible to hear what my daughter was saying across the table , a matter in this part of the restaurant of too many tables to close together but then there are profits to be made.
Drinks orders were taken by a gentleman in a black jacket which had a gold badge attached no doubt awarded for having the charm and dedication of a French traffic warden, however the normal waiters were nice , the drinks had to be re ordered twice as not a lot of action on that front , food OK but a tad overpriced.
In ending my Ladies like the place for reasons I cannot fathom and so a compromise is to be reached in as much as to their next visit I will drop them off and progress on my own to Positano next door.
I hope this has been helpful.
The arrival is welcoming our coats are taken and staff arrive to deal with them and see us to our table. They were too quick for us for drinks orders but calmed down by the time we were ready to order food.
We went for the set menu and both had crab on watermelon which was good and od gorgons which were less inspiring.
We finished with a coffee and had spent a very pleasant 2 hours +
As always lovely environment for a catch up lovely attentive staff excellent food
Always made to feel very welcome. The service is spot on, they give you just enough attention but not in your face. Love the menu, it’s very simple always delicious.
Fantastic service and excellent food. They serve a great gin and tonic
Highly recommend. Excellent choice of food.
The ambience was great for a birthday. There was some miscommunication with the food which meant one plate was served after 10 mins and the other after 30 mins. Apart from that The food was excellent.
Brilliant service, great staff, delicious brunch. Can’t wait to visit again. Thank you.
Overpriced and poor value compared to other restaurants in Surrey. Noise level so intrusive that it was barely possible to hold a conversation. Found the serving staff over-familiar, indulging in small talk straight out of the "Ladybird Guide to Waitressing"
The staff were excellent and friendly with good service.Food excellent menu and pricing.
A brilliant and beautiful little haven in Guildford.
My wild mushrooms with truffle and handcut Steak Tartare were amazing.
Our waitress, who overheard that it was my friend's birthday, brought out a surprise little mini treat with candle - very thoughtful.
Lovely vibrant venue but the food is a bit hit and miss. After going a few times, I suggest that the British cuisine is very good but the French dishes aren't quite up to scratch. Staff and timing were all excellent. So just go British is my recommendation here!
It was our daughter’s 18th birthday and we brought her very special cake but were unable to have it with a nice coffee after our meal. Very disappointing indeed and it ruined the special occasion, especially when our elderly disabled grandparents made the special trip and were looking forward to the cake. We even informed the restaurant in advance that it was an 18th birthday celebration.
The Ivy is a beautiful . The bar is stunning. The service is second to none.
Lovely restaurant, great food and fantastic service.
The food was amazing. Our waitress was really friendly and professional. The only negative was the noise level. We found it really difficult to hear each other and some of us left with a headache. The accoustic is terrible. There must be something you can do about it...
Nice top end (ish) restaurant marked down solely this visit for the slightly abrupt front of house manager (male) who, when informed by myself of our very early arrival (1 hour or so) that we came early to sit at the bar, he retorted "there are no spaces" even though there was a good half a dozen or so available. When I pointed this out, some quiet mutterings to the lady next to him, he managed to see that yes they were spaces available and whilst we sat at the bar barely anyone else came and sat down in the other empty seats..... A small point admittedly but its sets the tone for the whole evening and makes you wonder if you are there for the restaurant or if the restaurant is there for you?? Having said that all other staff and service, quality of food etc, etc were as expected, hence why we visit often and will visit again.
