Went for a meal out with a friend. Arrived at 7.30pm and still hadn't had main course by 9.15pm. Our waiter had forgotten to put the order through. But the person who took over dealt with the situation perfectly. They were honest about the mistake but rectified as soon as they could, and then gave us a greatly reduced bill as an apology. And food was delicious when it did arrive.
On a recent visit to the Clifton Ivy we had breakfast as a long awaited treat. It was a relaxing place with amazing service and great food. Cherished memories were made.
Food wine and particularly the service were all great
We had a lovely meal and were very well looked after by our lovely server
Would definitely recommend and go back soon
Excellent service from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Food was awesome and lovely chilled atmosphere.
Wasn't sure what to expect but I absolutely loved the food and service. Staff were really friendly. My glass was kept topped up. Food was very reasonably priced and so tasty. Would go back again for sure. Beautifully decorated. Only thing I would say is the toilet really didn't match the rest of the place but that was only very small thing.
Fabulous food (even for my guest with gluten free needs) which was so tasty and with appropriate portion size. The options for a set menu lunch were exciting and great value for money. Loved it.
Three generations of our family were together for my son's 21st birthday dinner. The food was excellent and we love the venue. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful but not overbearing. We had requested a table that was reasonably quiet as the older generation have difficulty hearing - from that point of view this was probably the best restaurant experience we have had, so thanks to the Ivy for that. Particular appreciation also goes to the member of staff who spotted my mother heading with her two sticks towards the ladies and kindly redirected her to an accessible toilet so that she could avoid the stairs.
Whilst the service was excellent, I found the noise level detracts from enjoying the food and it was a bit like Waterloo station. The food was innovative, but the portions seemed rather large. All in all it was OK the menu was OK not what I thought though for a Sunday lunch. It was far too noisy I was under the assumption that one needed a bit of serenity to appreciate good food. Are we just paying for the name? Are you squeezing in too many people? Would I go again maybe ....
Been meaning to come for so long as heard good things they weren’t wrong. Everything was so tasty and freshly made. I will be back again
Lovely atmosphere and high quality food. Disappointing that one order was forgotten about and took two reminders for it to be produced, but these things happen!
It was beautiful, very intimate.
As always your staff, food & service was excellent. I did mention it was my partners birthday & your small birthday surprise plate was a very nice & unexpected extra, thank you. Tim
We were sat at the rear section of the restaurant and it was very cramped, so much so that it actually annoyed me how close I was to people either side of me.
The service was slow which I put down to it being a Saturday night, but overall the staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was nice.
Beautiful setting & ambiance, however the tables are too close to one another, compromising an intimate dining experience.
Very attentive staff & food and beverage was super (and very well informed staff to cater for gluten free options), albeit in had a limited choice for my main course.
Very good, food is excellent, but pricey but excellent service
A great venue, had a fantastic lunch, great value and lovely waiting staff who were very professional and attentive. We especially enjoyed watching the barman making the cocktails.
Took a friend for her 40th birthday and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Great setting and the service was fantastic. The food was excellent. My only feedback is the wine list which should offer a ‘house’ style wine
Enjoyed except too expensive two drinks two starters and two main come in at £ 95.00 we only had a cottage pie and beef sandwich. Excellent service thou
Had a fabulous evening the staff were very attentive but not overly so and the food was fabulous. Any minor hiccups were dealt with respectfully. I highly recommend!
Food and service were excellent. The prawn and monkfish curry was delicious and my very fussy father in law loved his steak. We were a party of seven and the service was excellent. Two of our party were vegetarian so they had two of the three options for main course we could see. They enjoyed these. Lovely that the occasion we were celebrating was noted on my open table booking and a celebratory dessert was delivered! Thank you. We will return.
Food was lovely however incredibly overpriced. I read online the service charge was optional however it was not.
Food was delicious as well as the dessert was amazing!
Excellent and efficient service Food rather disappointing Very much catering for lots of people with standard dishes on the menu However it is expensive so not terribly good value
Celebrating a colleagues 3rd year of service.
Delicious food great service wonderful experience! I can’t wait to bring all the family next time
It was a birthday celebration which was at no time acknowledged. We arrived at 1.00 had only a main course and coffee, the service was so appalling it took until 4.00 to complete the meal and we missed our train.
Perhaps a corner table made us less visible.?
I love The Ivy food and it’s wonderfully decorated rooms, have eaten in many during frequent visits to London The Kings Road, St. John’s Wood where we are frequent diner, always I love being in the gorgeous atmosphere created. This was a disappointing experience.
Unfortunately, our food was dropped on the way to the table. In, I guess, haste to replace it my tuna was totally over cooked. The tomato based sauce was average, the mussels good.
The shift manager looking after us was excellent. He recognised our disappointment and made very fair reparation.
As a result we will return and never been disappointed previously.
The Ivy in Clifton Village is always a treat, our waiter was very charming and attentive and our party of 4 were all very pleased with the experience. However, I have since learned that the 12.5% service charge is not passed on to the staff. I will be removing it from the bill in future.
Outstanding, especially for a nice meal with friends. Superb service, food always on point. Kind attention shown to our disabled daughter and chef always flexible in providing for her limited palate. Currently our 'goto' restaurant in Bristol when with friends.
We had breakfast in your restaurant last Sunday 8th September.
The service was poor, unattentive and slow.
The food was luke warm and had obviously been waiting in the kitchen for some time.
Over all an unremarkable event, and should have been better.
I had breakfast with my wife at The Ivy over the weekend and I left disappointed. £50 for two breakfasts is steep in anyone's book, if it was amazing food or fantastic service I would have been ok about it but it wasn't. It was ordinary food and ok service. I wont be going back for breakfast anytime soon.
They Ivy is predictably excellent and that’s why people go there. Some of the dishes vary in presentation depending on who has prepared it but the quality remains the same. We had a trainee but she was overseen by a senior member of staff at all times. We were celebrating a 21st birthday which had been noted upon booking and a small birthday sweet treat came to the table at the end. Always a nice touch. The prices have increased slightly which is acceptable given the standard of service. I’m an ‘all food’ eater but please don’t start making the same mistake as other restaurants and either over charge for vegetarian dishes, or offer vegan dishes only instead of vegetarian...vegans and veggies are two different beasts!
What an amazing meal, staff were just as good, it was my dads 78th birthday and the evening was really memorable. The white onion soup was out of this world. Try the chocolate bomb, pure theatre and delicious to boot.
Sadly, it was a noisy experience with a disappointing menu and poor service. The tip was included in the final bill and not worth it. My wife and I will not be going back... far too expensive too.
The food and service were excellent, despite being full the service was timely and the food without fault. Good value for money, considering the quality. I will be returning and would definitely recommend. The only issue I could feed back on was that we found the restaurant a little on the warm side, but accept this could just be our preference. Thanks for an enjoyable evening.
The place and servers were lovely, would definitely recommend to a friend :)
Really enjoyed the evening at The Ivy, food and atmosphere was superb. They even provide a free dessert as we were celebrating our anniversary.
The food was very good, but the main we wanted was unavailable (early on a Friday night), the waiters forgot our drinks order twice and the prices are quite steep for what you get (especially with the tip added to the bill automatically at 12.5%). The place is large and ok for a party but not a quiet meal, in my opinion. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night as this was our first visit and other diners seem to have a great experience.
With the Ivy policy being an allocation of 2 hours for your table we were very disappointed that just waiting for our starter took 45 minutes. How ever added to that both my partner and mine had to be sent back as they were both barely warm and therefore ended up waiting nearly an hour for our first course. This is not what we expected where a premium is paid for service and quality. The remaining courses were however fine and the food once received was lovely. As this was an anniversary meal it was a real shame the Ivy could not provide a quality service and in telling them prior to arrival this was an anniversary meal the only benefit given was a greeting of happy anniversary. Overall not the experience expected and very disappointing.
We enjoyed our visit very much.
The service and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was very good.
Our only slight disappointment was that although we had a pleasant meal we thought the food could have had more flavour.
