Ivy Clifton Brasserie
Open seven days a week, The Ivy Clifton Brasserie offers accessible all day dining for local residents, businesses, shoppers and visitors to the area, and brings some of the familiarity of The Ivy brand to ceaselessly chic Clifton Village. Tables are held back for walk-ins allowing locals to drop in throughout the day at their leisure, and the menus are all encompassing, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, light snacks and dinner; not to mention a specially created cocktail menu featuring a variety of classic and contemporary selections.
The Ivy Clifton Brasserie has been designed to deliver the memorable experience that is synonymous with The Ivy’s unique style, in a more relaxed and accessible environment.
I like The Ivy, but I’m afraid we had a very disappointing meal on Tuesday.
The noise was deafening, and you had to shout to get heard!
And the food which is generally quite reliable, was very disappointing.
But as we were all hungry, and we had a friend joining us, we didn’t really want to start complaining.
Had it been my first visit, it wound probably be my last.
But I will just stick to lunch time in future.
The Ivy is a great and grand dining experience, with a lot of 'busyness' about it. It was the very best setting for 'high tea' on a winter's Sunday afternoon, with old friends, and good value for money. Despite there being a fair number of staff I would not say staff were particularly attentive (e.g. noticing we'd used up our bottle of water, collecting the empty bottle, and might want more, or wanting the bill) - this is the only thing which really let them down, and I expect more of an establishment like that
Had to wait 30 minutes standing at bar, which was also full, until booked table was available. At table had to request our wine to be refilled every time. Ordered bread with meal which was forgotten. Staff were not relaxed and seemed rushed/chaotic. Nowhere near a comparable level of service to other Ivy restaurants I have visited.
Nice evening once we got to our table nearly 25 mins late! Would have been nice to have cocktails free as compensation but nothing was offered. 2 ladies on desk were rather rude and dismissive.
The food was faultless and very tasty. What spoiled the evening was the service. We arrived for a table at 9pm and were told it wasn’t quite ready but wouldn’t be long. We were shown to the bar for a drink while we waited. Our table was not ready for over half an hour. When we were seated we were not given the winelist, we had to ask for it. We were not given details of specials, which included the grilled fish of the day. When we asked waiting staff what it was, we were told seabass and one of us ordered it. A different waiter then came to explain that wasn’t the grilled fish of the day. My partner ended il ordering something else.
When it came (c 10pm), the food was very good.
Had staff appreciated the wait and poor service we had, we would have been pleased. However, with not so much as an apology for the wait we were presented with the full bill including a service charge (we were only a table of 2). This was nothing short of presumptuous. At be very least the service charge should not have been added and it would have been good practice to have taken our bar drinks (which we only had because we had to wait) taken off the bill.
After speaking to our waiter a large deduction was made from the bill, which goes some way to improving the experience, but overall I was incredibly disappointed.
Everything from arrival to departure was first class. There was plenty of attention to detail and very helpful friendly staff. A great place to visit with an excellent menu. You won’t be disappointed by the experience.
Great food and atmosphere. Felt special and exclusive, would definitely return!
We have been to a few of the ivy restaurants, again very good!
Special treat for my sons birthday .
Lovely ambiance great food all v happy
Pablo our waiter was outstanding. Proper service. Food delicious.
A lovely event ambience and food were amazing. Service could have been better our server was not really focused on serving us and was quite difficult to locate and gain the attention of. However, food was amazing, ambience was good although we were sat close to the door which was quite disruptive.
Overall a 4* experience. Missed out due to lack of attentive service.
good service at teh bar on arrival -then they lost their way a bit - we were dining in the conservatory - where it was very cold - lots of diners were putting their coats on - service was below par - i think a lack of experience -
overall a nice room just needs more heat
It was OK. It was very crowded, which was to be expected I guess, and I felt this might have slowed down the taking of the orders and the delivery of the drinks/courses. But still very enjoyable.
Good food but the table service was average. Tried to take plates away when our guests had not finished and the same with my wife's drink
Had a great evening with my family, and will most definitely be coming back again soon
Felt the steaks were overpriced but had a pleasant evening
I would recommend the Ivy as somewhere to take friends for a special lunch or event where money is no object. The ambience of the restaurant is great but it seems to dictate a high price for food and drinks because of it.
Great night just issues on arrival as our table took about 20 minutes and yet if your late .......also maitre de did not seem to care but everything else fab !
Pricey but nice. Would go again. Top notch gravy with the Shepards Pie.
I obviously looked too smart. Scruffy people in jeans were given blankets for four when they were only two. Our table was appalling, staff kept standing on the corner talking loudly. Our waitress obviously needed retraining on the art of serving. We regularly go to Bath and wouldn't return to Bristol
Nice to dine in such beautiful surroundings Noise level too high. Difficult to talk with companion seated only 2 feet across the table. Had a problem with a tough mushroom in the vegan Shepherds pie (NOT recommended) but free dessert ans compensation
Fantastic atmosphere, food and drinks. Perfect spot for a birthday lunch. Note of warning to those travelling from out of Bristol - took us nearly 30 minutes to park on a Wednesday afternoon (standard Clifton!)
We enjoyed yet another excellent evening in the warm fold of the Ivy in Bristol. For vegetarians the offer has suddenly improved beyond just a couple of main courses to a strong choice of 6. My partner was delighted with her surprise birthday pastry + candle and the service was, as always, friendly, professional and very well performed. Thank you.
Lovely afternoon tea with champagne as a treat for daughter's graduation. Was great for the whole family. Service friendly and efficient and a nice atmosphere. Food up to similar standard of Ivy Brasserie chain - ie reliable
We came to The Ivy for our first visit after receiving last xmas a voucher which we decided to save for a special occasion. On 26th November it was our 20th wedding anniversary so we decided to use it for that and have to say we're not at all disappointed.
The Ivy Brasserie Clifton is very easy to find - aside from parking which in Clifton is always difficult but not impossible.
The building is beautifully decorated as befitting a venue of its stature and certainly helps to make a pleasant atmosphere and create a comfortable dining experience.
We arrived 15 mins before our table booking and were greeted by the Maitre D' in a walk and welcoming fashion and were shown to our table after being politely asked which menu we would like to eat from.
A waiter was assigned and he certainly helped the whole experience at the Ivy be a very smooth event.
He treated us with respect and a degree of formality to make us feel very special, but also with a lovely charm and friendliness that we felt very comfortable being there. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and drinks as expected and was very courteous and helpful throughout.
The food and service was of the highest standard and we particularly liked that he held back our starters slightly (after asking us) as we had not finished our entrée.
The lunch menu itself had an excellent and wide selection and Had detailed explanations of each dish to help the customer decide and certainly helped get our selection.
We cannot recommend The Ivy enough. Fantastic venue, atmosphere, service and of course above all else the food. A Gem in Bristol.
Absolutely stunning setting. We were very impressed with the food, everything we tasted was delicious. Food prices were very good, wine prices ott.
It completely lived up to its recommendation
Professional and Knowledgeable Staff
I love the ambience of this place and the service was outstanding. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Myself and my partner had dishes of the lunch time menu which were define and very good price. Looking forward to going back to try some of the other dishes.
First time here at the Ivy for all 5 of us. We were all very happy with our food choices taken from both the set lunch menu and a la carts menu.Excellent food.Service was good and when we had two mix ups with our order they were dealt with quietly and with no fuss. My daughter was very surprised to be presented with a small token cake with a candle. Nice touch. We will all be back .
A regular place to find good food and value. Love the decor.
We had a freshly cooked, tasty breakfast, the service was attentive, all the staff looked well groomed in pristine uniforms.
Great value for food tasted amazing.
Drink prices were high. will defo be back for the food!
As always it us a pleasure to visit The Ivy, however it was very disappointing to arrive on time and be told the table wasn't ready. We were asked to wait at the cocktail bar, but after 20 minutes no table was available and we weren't eve offered a drink.
Nice first visit. All good. Will visit again when in Bristol
Always a pleasure eating here! Great service, food and atmosphere!
Had the Shepard's pie it was delicious!
Just fantastic, great service, outstanding decor and atmosphere, food was lovely, couldn’t fault it, thank you.
Very good food, with an interesting choice including plenty of vegetarian options. Extremely good service - very efficient but also highly personable in a way that contributed a lot to the enjoyment of the evening.
Underwhelming really. Premium priced bistro food. A long way from fine dining. Venue is the best asset. Service is ok but delivering main courses before starters is a basic error. Starters were deleted from the bill in recognition which has to be applauded but we won’t be returning in a hurry.
