I’ve eaten at The Ivy many times before and the attention to detail is what keeps me coming back. Unfortunately this time everything was off. It was very busy and loud which we had no control over. But I feel this made the staff more manic and unable to provide the service The Ivy is known for. We had to wait ages for our order to be taken (champagne afternoon tea) and then everything was brought out in stages. It would of been better to get our drinks and food at the same time. Our teas and coffee never came and after nearly finishing all the food we managed to get someone’s attention. No apology was given just informed us that they’d bring it out shortly. I was treating my parents and didn’t want them to see the bill at the end so paid quickly. It wasn’t until I got home that I realised I got over charged. My fault but a place like The Ivy shouldn’t be overcharging customers.

Took my daughter here on her 18th birthday 26th May and l’d like to say the service was outstanding! The woman on the front desk that afternoon was an absolute joy, nothing was too much trouble as was the same for the rest of the staff! My daughter throughly enjoyed herself and I’d just like to say another huge thank you for making her feel so special on her big day! Simon Simpson

Visited for breakfast. My husband had the full English which he couldn’t fault and I opted for the pancake which was delicious with the creamiest of yoghurt. It’s such a shame that parking is so difficult in this area. We almost gave up after half hour of searching for a space. So glad we didn’t.

The service was poor. Once we were served the drinks we had ordered at the bar, we received no further service without having to call someone over to assist us, from placing our order, receiving our appetizers, ordering and receiving our wine, receiving our main course, to receiving our bill (requested twice). As we were leaving a member of the staff asked if we had enjoyed our meal and I pointed out this deficiency. He was very apologetic, mentioning something about our area lacking coverage because we were the last reservation there (8:30), seeming to imply that responsibility for us had been overlooked. But surely our unattended existence should have been noticed with each request we had to make. We were sitting in the main part of the restaurant, quite near and in full view of the restaurant host. If we'd appreciated the fact that we were in a kind of no-man's land and that lack of attention would continue through the evening, we would have sought management intervention early or at least asked for the identity of our waiter and secured a commitment from him/her to serve us without prompting. We liked the atmosphere of the restaurant and the food was good, but after the poor service we received, it would be difficult to recommend Ivy Clifton Brasserie, at least based on this visit.

The service was very slow and although we understand why the wine is not left on the table, if you do this you need to make sure the waiters remember to fill up the glasses when needed. We would have probably ordered an additional 2 bottles of wine if we weren't left for long periods of time with empty glasses.

Gives the pretense of good service with a lot of staff floating around, but the attention to detail was lacking, as was any coordination by the maitre d, who appeared to be more interested in smoking outside. I couldn't criticise the food though, which was all very nice. A pretty average experience, but poor in comparison with other ivy brasserie outlets.

We went to the ivy for sunday brunch and we both ordered the pancakes. They were sooo delicious! very fluffy and moist. They have a lovely sweet vanilla aftertaste and go perfectly with the fresh fruit and yoghurt. Considering that they were under £10, the size of the portion was good and we were both very full by the last bite. The one downside is that the fruit clearly hadn't been washed and it did also look like it had started to go off. A shame considering that you only get about 5 berries for the whole plate. The only real downside to our experience was the customer service. Whilst no one was outright rude, the atmosphere created by the servers was quite cold. None of the staff seemed to smile at us and they were not overly chatty. We almost felt a little unwelcome. Overall, whilst the food was excellent, it would have been nice for the staff to be friendlier.

Unfortunately very average! Our anniversary was acknowledged and we sat. Half full and plenty of staff. However my glass and knife had greasy fingerprints when we sat. We ordered bread and arancini before starters, these didn't come together and were just plopped down. The starters arrived whilst we were still eating arancini, bizarrely a waiter brought another table's food to us whilst a different person put our starters down, so I had a waiter on either side of me delivering food and trying to speak to me at the same time. The table itself was so crowded, as nobody took away the empty lager bottle, and strangely I had been given condiments for my main course before even receiving the bread! Just walking to the bathroom, 2 members of staff walked into me,not looking. Starter of cheese soufflé was very tasty. Partner's squid was OK, but no miso or wasabi was evident in the sauce. Main course was a chicken, some of the chicken moist and some dry, but the salad was good according to my partner. My beef tartare was very good, however the accompanying chips were mccains frozen in quality. Had it not been for the partner's pot of caesar sauce to dip them in, they would have been pretty dry & inedible. I ordered a maple manhattan cocktail. When it arrived it was nowhere near chilled enough. I asked for it to be chilled, manager looked put out. Sorry! When I'd nearly finished the beef, it still hadn't come back. 3 staff were chatting at the end of the bar, whilst a fourth member of staff made coffees. Clearly it had been forgotten. I had to ask for it. It was the same temperature as before. Other tables were asked warmly about their day etc, we weren't. Our bill reflected a medium glass of wine when we had asked for small, as partner was driving. Luckily she didn't drink it all. The rude waitress argued that they only sell one size, we had to explain that's not legal. She huffed, adjusted the bill, no apology. No service paid. No expectations met!

My wife and I chose The Ivy to celebrate our anniversary and neither of us had eaten here before. From the greeting through to leaving the service was warm, friendly, discreetly attentive and impeccable. Our meal was, as we hoped, beautifully cooked and presented although choosing to have the sourdough bread definitely affected our pudding capacity! That said, we did manage to struggle through the complimentary profiteroles our waiter brought over with a wish for a "Happy Anniversary". The restaurant was busy but not too loud and the lighting warm and intimate despite being a fairly large space. This was a recommendation from a friend and I'll be saying a big thank you to them, we definitely intend to return. Thank you to all the staff for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I’ve been to the ivy a few times and just wasn’t as wow’d as before. Small details - other people were asked if there coat could be taken. Not us. Candle not lit on the table when others were. Wine not topped up and we had to ask. Just really minor details really. First world problems hey? It’s a lot of money for what you get but nice.

Our waiter was fabulous, professional yet friendly. The food was delicious and well presented.
