milk / mint / white
Hand chopped beef striploin with Tabasco dressing, cornichon, shallot, parsley, egg yolk and toasted granary
Melting chocolate bombe with milk foam, vanilla ice cream and honeycomb centre with hot salted caramel sauce
Previous visits to the Ivy a couple of years ago had been fantastic high end experiences deftly hitting the sweet spot between top end quality in a relaxed atmosphere. Yesterday’s visit was very far from that.
Main courses came out tepid warm not hot.
Rose wine was room temperature.
Had ticked Birthday when booking via Open Table and despite two staff mentioning about something happening (we really didn’t expect anyone to do anything) by the end of the evening they seem to have forgotten it. Not sure if it was too much bother for the remaining staff, but seemed a very odd way to behave. We really wouldn’t have thought twice about just saying “happy birthday” and leaving it at that. Don’t raise expectations if you aren’t going to deliver!!
Sadly a birthday meal which did not get anywhere close to expectations.
Amazing food, beautiful surroundings.
The Chocolate Bomb is incredible
Dinner with close friends
Food, service, ambience excellent as previous visits.
I am a great fan of the Ivy and its ambience and food. But since I travel to go to the Ivy in Bristol I don't want to be in the conservatory add on. I go to the Ivy for its design and building not to sit somewhere generic. Next time I will ask to sit in the main room as that is amazing.
Beautiful venue- super meal - well priced but would prefer to organise our own tipping - service charge high.
Best breakfast ever. Enjoyed every mouthful. What a treat ❤️
Great venue and superb value food. A real treat. Recommended.
The service n food were reasonably good. Enjoyable evening
It's always a good experience, a meal at the Ivy. The elegant atmosphere sets the tone, and the impeccable service would make even beans on toast a special event!
Lovely food - excellent service - great ambience. The chocolate bomb was amazing ! Shepherds pie was delicious.
A perfect 60th birthday celebration.
Sophisticated yet relaxed. Wide choice of food from favourites like shepherd's pie to modern international like warm duck salad. A special place for a special occasion. I loved it.
Lovely as always
The Salt and pepper squid was very over cooked and it was a grey colour which would indicate it was not fresh or possibly frozen. I had an upset stomach after the Monkfish curry. My wife’s scallops were almost cold and had no seasoning and no flavour. Also my wife’s beef Tartar was very bland and tasteless, she left it. Also she requested a glass of wine around 10.45pm and was refused and told the bar was closed! So not a good experience it’s a shame
as we used to come a few years ago and it felt special and
the food was good. It really seems to have gone down hill. Shame!
As always, great staff, service and ambience. Perfect for special occasions. No one wore a mask when moving around which was disappointing.
First time at the Ivy and it didn’t disappoint. A good range of food on the menu with a range of prices.
The atmosphere was relaxed with a low level of noise. We could certainly hold a conversation easily.
Our waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive.
I would definitely go again.
Beautiful and tasteful interior. Comfortable seats and table. Food was mostly tasty and came well presented and we were full by the end. Surprisingly low prices for food and drink. Only issue is that there was a real lack of vegetarian options on the main menu - only two. I had the halloumi and I have to say it seemed like an easy option to put on a menu when you have no inspiration. It wasn't particularly memorable. Other food was good though. Plenty of veggie starters and side dishes though.
The food was good but simple thing’s like brown lettuce ends let it down.
The service was not offensive but I didn’t feel very welcome
Loved the service and place. Staff were so lovely and helpful especially regarding our birthday cake! Food was awful. I had the squid and pigs cheeks. Squid was mushy not crispy and no hint of salt n pepper. Pigs cheeks were tasteless, mash tasted like a ready meal and the gravy/jus like bisto with a spoonful of mustard in it. Very disappointing. Was so hungry I ate some of it and didn’t complain as was edible but definitely not what I expected. Felt very ready meal like. Staff as I say we’re amazing and loved the atmosphere and setting.
My daughter 21st birthday. All the staff was all lovely wishing her a happy birthday. Made her feel abit special.
Lovely setting, great service and food. Would definitely recommend and hope to return su.
We attended on a Tuesday dinnertime and were surprised how busy it was. The staff are attentive and friendly. We chose our meals from the set menu and they were superb. Would wholly recommend, one very small minus is it can be a little noisy when full.
We had an outstanding meal with excellent wines. This is not a cheap restaurant and it quite correctly does not set out to be. It is expensive but still value for money. The service was friendly yet professional and we enjoyed a very special evening.
Gorgeous venue. Great ambience. Lovely food and very professional, pleasant staff. Fab cocktails. Wine mark up is very steep but a great venue for a special celebration.
Excellent meal, served by polite and helpful staff. Highly recommend the bread but leave room for the main course and fabulous apple tart for dessert!
Food was OK-ish. It lacked flavour and wasn't particularly hot. My wife's warm crispy duck salad was cold and my shepherd's pie wasn't very hot but the green beans were. Either the journey from the kitchen is too long or they don't use IR lamps to keep the food hot before it leaves the kitchen.
The people on an adjoining table sent their steaks back as they were cold.
The drinks were excellent and the service was outstanding. Even the main room wasn't massively loud as it usually is
Good quality of food but too noisy/crowded and tables really small and little spaced (a bit uncomfortable)
We travelled from all over the south of England to met for my mothers 70th birthday for afternoon tea. This was in the making 4mths in advance, so we had big expectations. The place is lovely and the staff were very professional however we ordered 6 cocktails and afternoon tea for 6 people. We had our cocktails which were very nice but our food took over 40minutes to service! During this time the Maitre d’ changed shifts I believe and the second one was a lovely lady in a green suit with blonde hair. (We didn’t get her name) when questioned where our food was she was extremely apologetic and chased it up immediately. We received our afternoon and she also instructed fresh scones to be made to ensure they were warm. We also received our drinks for free as an apology. It did extend our visit some what and a lot of us didn’t get home till midnight to London Dublin Wiltshire and Plymouth but the end result was amazing and we thank this lady especially for acting in such a superb professional manner and ensured the experience was eventually one to remember for the best reasons
The Ivy never disappoints, everything is great from the ambiance to the staff and of course the food. Excellent.
Beautiful venue . Excellent attentive waiter . Great menu choice for breakfast. All 6 thoroughly enjoyed The Ivy .
Have eaten several times and loved, so booked for daughter 21st.
Service was poor, unfortunately glasses were not filled, ( champagne) drinks slow coming ( cocktails) plates not cleared after main course for ages.
Birthday Cake ordered but server brought dessert menus and we had to ask for cake ruining the surprise for birthday girl even though only 2 days earlier we had confirmed with a call from yourselves cake should be served at dessert course.
Disappointed as it’s one of our favourite places in Clifton missing it’s normal high standards.
Lovely place but food wasn’t up to scratch for the cost
We rang to let the restaurant know we would be a little late, 5 minutes and was told if we did arrive the table would be give to other people. We had been to visit the restaurant prior to the booking and explained we were possibly going to be delayed and was told to ring in which we did. We were celebrating a 50th birthday and a lot arrangements had been made for party.
There was a change of shift after the initial drinks arrived and we waited nearly an hour for our food. The party were given food at intervals and not together and the service was very personable but was obviously the waiter was under pressure.
We had one of our party have w duck bone in her curry which could have been dangerous and we highlighted to the waiter and we were reimbursed for that meal.
We were disappointed as we were left waiting for a considerable amount of time and we’re disappointed by the service which did make the celebrations less enjoyable.
Always have had a great experience in the past. Sadly not on this occasion, the waiters did not know we were booked for an afternoon tea, topped up our glasses X2, then we were left to do it ourselves. Dietary requirements were given on booking, the waiters were unaware, which is really poor.
Overall very nice could have explained all the sandwiches and cake flavours on the afternoon tea instead of us having to guess what it all was. Did see another table being told what it all was after we had received ours. Lovely place would recommend though.
Late to take drinks and slow to arrive, they forgot our starters and I had to chase for our meal so everything came late and at once. Our steaks were flavourless and my 'rare' order was effectively blue, the arranci truffle balls were fried oil balls. The Staff ended up taking off our starter and service as a sorry for the lateness but outside of this, the food wasn't even flavourful on arrival. Overall not worth the price tag.
Beautiful restaurant, great food and excellent service
Staff were soooo nice & friendly a great atmosphere.. have been to Several Ivy Restaurants and always a great time
Rushed, tiny table, slow to remove plates, toast late, fried eggs under cooked
Beautiful restaurant, attentive service, food was okay, however the poached eggs were quite watery inside and made the whole dish watery. Pastries were beautiful though
