It was an evening to celebrate my sons 30th birthday and the food and in particular the service was amazing. There was always someone available to assist you but at the same time they were discreet and in the background. Lovely evening
Great serve from the time we entered the restaurant until we left. Food was to a high standard and nice to be able to go out again to celebrate as a family.
Superb, would definitely recommend. Steak was very impressive.
The wine was fabulous the fish was over cooked and service ok
Flavours to die for at The Ivy Clifton in Bristol.
Have been many times here and loved it. This came away slightly disappointed as the service seemed a bit indifferent once we'd had our orders taken. The food is excellent even though all the elements of the afternoon tea weren't of our choice. These little things detracted from the ambience but not enough to make us happy to return in the future.
Really difficult to attract staff attention which is a 1st in an ivy restaurant, lots of staff walking around but certainly not interacting with guests. Also toast was forgotten, ended up eating without as food was getting cold, unable to attract waiter/waitress attention. Certainly would not rush back to this restaurant, Birmingham and cardiff are far better than this one. Left feeling disappointed.
Amazing service, everyone was so kind and made my mums birthday special
Food was lovely, service was excellent, would definitely eat here again!
Dined with a colleague from work on Wednesday. "We have one of our"best tables for you" was the welcoming comment! Well I would hate to think what the worst one was? We were at the very rear tucked in a corner. Waitress came and asked if we wanted water, good start, but that's where it ended. 20mins later, yes 20mins, no water and no sign of would you like to order a drink (alcoholic). Looked around for someone, but remember this table is "the best" well not if you want service. As I got up to find someone a member of staff came past (not for us) but we at least made contact with someone. He looked a bit surprised and embarrassed when I explained that we had been sat for almost 30mins by that point.
The Ivy undoubtedly has the credentials to be an excellent restaurant, but our experience wasn't one of them.
Lovely room, good service, average food.......
Excellent food & service. Noisier than we would have liked.
Great lunch with friends. The Ivy is consistently excellent, can’t fault the place, good food and wine served by knowledgeable, friendly staff.
Plenty of choice, very tasty food.
Staff very attentive,polite and friendly.
Good 'continental' atmosphere and very relaxing and pleasant dining area.
Superb food and service for my birthday . I was made to feel very special with a birthday dessert and candle .
Will definitely be back !
Felt very welcome. Staff were great.
Pretentious and overpriced. The food was good but not great. Took 35 minutes to take our order, which then meant due to the dire parking around the venue unable to stay for desserts or coffee as our parking time was up. Quite a disappointing way to spend a birthday.
Very enjoyable experience. Service was faultless and the atmosphere pleasant and relaxed. The food was excellent.
Amazing as always! Service and food outstanding!
we were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary and the service from start to finish was outstanding, the food was great as was the nice touch of the profiteroles with happy anniversary on both my wife & i felt this went above and beyond and really added to the overall experience, we couldnt have choosen a better venue to celebrate such an important date
thank you very much
Other half and I went for some posh nosh for our anniversary and it didn’t disappoint. Lots of choice on the menu and specials to try and a wonderful surprise as we were celebrating something special. Would deffo recommend to a couple or small group who can spend around £50-£60 per person for a special treat.
First time back since before pandemic and everything was as good as before but the service from Samantha was outstanding particularly helping my wife choose the right rose for her taste
We ate there for our 35th Anniversary. Wanted something special and we weren’t disappointed.
Food great atmosphere and staff were lovely. Would highly recommend.
Great atmosphere and service, I enjoyed the vegan options. My partners fish based choices were good but the expectation was higher.
A lovely restaurant with great service and a great menu. I always feel very special when I eat there.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing food!!! Lovely place for an anniversary celebration!
Head barman was brilliant. Main dining room is an amazing place to dine. Service was excellent, not rushed. Food was excellent.
Quiet crammed and small table and sat close to others. No privacy and felt unsafe sitting so close to others.
I come down from London to take the family to the Clifton Ivy from time to time. We always have a lovely family dinner, with delicious food and excellent service. Our waitress was so lovely and helpful. as were other members of staff to whom we spoke. The restaurant was very accommodating when I asked, if possible, for a round table. Request met! We all look forward to the next visit.
Food was amazing, service impeccable. Normally go to the Ivy in London.
Will definitely return next time we are in Bristol
It is a lovely looking place and the food was nice but the service was lacking. We didn’t receive something we ordered and every member of staff who walked past seemed so determined to look away and not help as we tried to get their attention. Probably won’t go again.
I have been to the ivy many times and loved it. We came for afternoon tea - 2 of my friends have a few allergies so we called a week in advance to discuss whether it was possible to cater. Confirmed they were and spoke with chef. On day the waiter came back and fore at least 5 times and was getting confused with the allergies. One could eat egg and dairy and gluten but was allergic to soya and other dairy. They were both told that everything was pre mixed so she couldn’t have the chicken as with Mayo and contained soya or salmon as was pre mixed. This is why we called before and we were assured it would be fine. They got a dry bit of gluten free bread with avacado and tomato - no oil or anything so was very dry. We arrived at 4 and didnt get the afternoon tea until 5.30, the tea that went with it didn’t come out until we had nearly finished the food despite me chasing. We had an apology and was deducted some of the bill. It was only afterwards I realised they took the optional service charge off as a discount and just £7 additional extra. Spending over £100 on afternoon tea and getting the food and service we received was very disappointing especially when I am always recommending the Ivy as a great place to go. Hence the low number of stars given on this occasion
Lovely atmosphere, very nice layout. Exceedingly lovely food. Service very good. Very polite waiting staff. Accommodated our needs extremely well. Would definitely recommend to all friends
we arrived for a special occasion and wanted a seating area with a view. However I was put next to a wall. I did ask if we could move somewhere else but was told no.
Later we asked again and was told yes we could move, when I pointed to an ideal seat we were told it was reserved yet it was not in use the entire next hour and a half.
However the waitress we had was very nice, food was excellent and the rest of the time here was good.
Had not been for over a year and very impressed. Breakfast always good and service outstanding. Would definitely recommend
Great service and delicious food. Perfect for a special celebration.
Very busy Saturday night. Table booked for 19:15.
Extensive drinks menus.
Food top notch. For the whole experience it is great value.
We had a wonderful evening, the food was delicious and the service was excellent!
Lovely building and good service but food not great value...small portions and over priced.
Food as always fantastic. We did sit next to a serving station where on two occasions while we were there glasses or crockery was dropped and broken on the floor. The surroundings of the old bank are very nice however the acoustics aren’t the best, can be quite noisy.
Will continue going back there as food is great, just wish the reintroduced the monk fish curry to the menu, instead of duck curry.
