Had an amazing first time at the Ivy. Beautiful breakfast, decor to die for and a beautiful location. Staff were friendly, would of liked more attention to our table as we had to wait for the bill as the section was busy. Will be back very soon!
The food was pretty terrible. The portions look nothing like how they are described. The service was nothing special at all. It took a while for the staff to take our order and we specifically asked to have our coffees before our brunch arrived but the coffees took about 20 minutes and arrived after our food. My mum ordered the roast beef sandwich and it was 100% packet beef slices and it cost 17.50 and was such a small portion with hardly any toppings. The decor is beautiful and there is a lovely atmosphere about the place and the hostess was lovely but everything else is a disaster. Crazy prizes for below average food. I will not to be returning and I am so disappointed by that.
This was our 2nd time dining at the Ivy. The 1st experience wasn’t great with our booked table not being ready and then the food being just average. The service wasn’t very friendly.
Thai weekend we tried The Ivy again as we received a voucher. I had to send back my soup starter as it was served cold. The service was better but slow. Our mains and deserts were lovely.
The restaurant is beautiful However the food was over priced.
More vegan options needed. I would go again if there was more choice for vegans
Great menu and ambience. The decor is lovely and the bathrooms are fancy. Service was surprisingly bad: 7 minutes to be served wine at the bar (it wasn't busy). The host who told us to sit at the bar forgot us, and didn't bring us to our table when it was ready. I had to ask the manager to bring us. And our waiter was nice, though his English wasn't the best, so he couldn't answer our questions about the menu like, "what is the lamb served with? Potato?".
The food was amazing and the staff were wonderful specially the guy that was serving us,
He gave us wonderful recommendations and amazing choices, I will definitely be coming back
Good option for pre-theatre. Limited set menu but of a high standard. You might need to remind staff (very nice) of your cut-off times if you are going to theatre to ensure timely service.
Lovely room with a nice atmosphere. Food and wine were great
Very attentive and friendly staff. Early bird menu is great value too!
Food was great and service outstanding. We'd come back over and over❤️
On a positive, its a beautiful setting. After that the whole experience was less than adequate. Starting with the service which was as bad as I have experienced in many a year. Asked for drinks 3 times, waited 20 minutes to get them. The food was average and as a party of 6, everyone at the table felt the same. My daughter could not finish her burger as it was so tough. My steak ordered medium rare was totally raw throughout. I ordered a birthday cake which cost me 40 euro and the chap brought it out when my wife was at the bathroom so he had to bring it back. The chocolate cake was terrible and we through half of it in the bin when we got home. Overall not a good experience at all and we certainly will never go back.
Had a business lunch here today, sat for ten mins without a menu being offered - eventually had to ask for one! He had the monkfish curry and liked it, I had the shepherds pie which was ok, quite small but tasty enough. Tasted a bit mass produced. The cheeseboard for dessert had obviously been kept in a very cold fridge - such a shame because the cheese was too hard to really enjoy then. Waitress forgot to bring glass of wine with dessert. All in all, it was fine - nothing special and while it is pretty and well appointed, you’re paying for the venue not really the attention or the food.
Visited restaurant with family group for a "significant birthday" and enjoyed the experience. The quality of the food was excellent and service was efficient. The price of the drinks bumped our bill up significantly, but we were prepared to pay the price so it wasn't a shock !! The restaurant was not very full for a Sunday night, but it is quite noisy due to the acoustics, probably not suitable for romantic meal for two !!
I loved the Ivy. So many pubs In Dublin but this was fine dining without the stuffy feel and required attire.
Meal was excellent. However my only issue was the bill. I did not realise when paying that a discretionary optional service charge of 12.5% was added onto bill total and this was the total I paid and I also left a tip on leaving not realising. For a table of 3 I cannot understand why the service charge was added or why on paying by card I was not asked if I wanted to pay amount including the service charge or not.
I would not go there for dinner as the food is quite overpriced and just average food. I am sure there is plenty more places in Dublin to get food for better value. I had a steak and you had to pay extra of u wanted chips or Mash and u had to pay extra for a sauce. It was a bit silly. It would be a lovely venue for a cocktail. But the food was disappointing.
From entry to exit received top class service. Fabulous table for 2 with very friendly efficient service from our waitress. Food was super and great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning here again and will certainly recommend to friends.
On arrival there was a difficulty in finding our reservation. We felt during this time quite clearly the mistake was ours. But it was found ...however no apology.
Our table wasn't ready, however there was no where to wait as the seats around the bar were all taken. So we felt completely in the way.
I had noted on the reservation a pleasant table away from doorways, however when we were finally shown to our table it was in a manic position with staff constantly flying past to the kitchen doorway.
When we finally got the attention of the girl who was seating customers, our initial feeling was we were bothering her. On asking to move table she said we could leave our current table, join the queue for a table, for a time unknown. As it was already after9pm we opted to stay, but noted our disappointment especially given the specific request made at the point of reservation some weeks ago. At that point she said, we hadn't bee seated opposite the main doorway and that she was not responsible for table allocations ...but that she would get the manager.
She then returned to say she had another table and asked me to view it to see if it was suitable. It was much better so we moved. Yes....so we got there in the end, but it was very hard work.
No manager materialised, no apology was made and the whole manner was fairly condescending.
The waiter at our table confided that the table we had been seated at was one of the worst in the restaurant, for all the reasons I had noted.
The food was lovely, the service at our new table was good, the place was buzzing ....but the damage had been done.
Wonderful decor and feels special - the food isn't too Amazing , it's nice but nothing overly special but the prices reflect that. Good service!
Lived up the hype. Bit noisy but lively. Staff and service excellent. Food very good and well presented. No fuss over slightly out of date voucher. Will be back definitely.
Once seated we asked if our jackets could be taken to the cloakroom and we were met with a frosty reception by either the reception manager or Maitre'd (not one of the servers). Disappointed with how rushed the entire service was. Our starters were delivered within minutes of us sitting down. Our mains were also served very quickly and we would have appreciated a little more time. Our reservation was for 630 and by 8 they were asking for the table back. This is my third time dining at the Ivy but I don't feel like I will be returning.
I had sole on the bone as a main course. It was extremely small. Very bad value. My wife was happy with her dish.
Service was good, food not great and cramped in on top of diners either side
Loved the experience. Food, service and atmosphere were all second to none and couldn’t pick anything wrong at all. Highly recommend.
It was only ok.
We got to reception and the guy at reception completely ignored us and served the people behind us. One of the ladies apologized and checked us in!
We ordered our Champagne Afternoon Tea, the table was far too small for afternoon tea which was also stated by our waiter. I had to ask for the champagne as it never arrived!
Was a lunch but meal felt rushed. Two hour slot not long enough.
The Ivy is a really vibrant restaurant both in atmosphere and design. The service was impeccable from the moment we arrived until we left. The menu was varied with something for every taste and every budget. It is the kind of place where the amount on your bill can vary greatly but you can decide. The portions were just right and the food delicious. It's perfect for lunch/dinner with the girls but possibly a little noisey and open for a romantic dinner for two.
Excellent breakfast. Great ambiance. Good start of the day.
Sitting is compact. Although the food is good it’s very busy and everything seems at be rushed. Not very relaxing.
Fabulous place and a really lovely atmosphere. Toilets were gorgeous and smelled lovely. I have to say I have had much better food elsewhere. There are so many places around town and I would certainly go back to those places before I would come back here, food wise.
Booked a meal for 2 guests & myself for 8.15pm on Thurs eve, we arrived on time , told to wait @ the bar for table however there was no seats so stood, eventually customers left & gave us their seats & we bought drinks.
It’s was almost an hour before we are called to our table. One of my guests had traveled from abroad, dines out extensively, turned to me & said if this was anywhere else we be at least given a drink on the house or phone call before our arrival to inform us of delay.
I ended up being most embarrassed! A member of staff did apologize, I felt staff not experienced in dealing with customer service.
Great meal, great ambiance, great place, will definitely be back
The restaurant is beautiful inside, food is delicious, booking online is very efficient and the staff are very friendly. I had the lamb which was very tasty, my boyfriend went for the steak which he really enjoyed. The only disappointment was I had rang earlier that day of our booking as it was a special occasion, our 10 year anniversary. I requested to have a surprise desert brought out with happy anniversary on it. I was told a note was added to the file. When we finished the mains we were given desert menus, we did not order desert (I convinced my boyfriend not to) as I thought the surprise was coming but it never did which was a big let down. Other than this it is a lovely restaurant.
Food was very poor this time.
Chicken was pink inside, very underdone. Not happy.
I was surprised to learn the service charge is included as par of the staff salary rather than in addition.
For this reason alone I will not return or recommend it
Very nice all around. I would recommend to anybody looking for a dining out place.
I went with my mom for Afternoon tea, which we hadn't pre-reserved. They were able to do it for us and it was excellent. Food and service was outstanding. Looking forward to going back.
